This wasn't an easy decision at all, but after quiet a lot of deliberation my vote goes to:

5262  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Shady seller Vindictuses - AVOID on: December 10, 2020, 10:36:12 AM
So, what about now Vindictuses? You did scam user mikepom as expected. Chat screenshots here:
https://ibb.co/Hp6tkkk
https://ibb.co/rmcpjqj

DT members, I hope you can believe me now and tag this shady user to save other's money.
I feel sorry for @mikepom if what he claims is true, but @vindictuses was already tagged by me, so you can't say that all members that planned to do business with him weren't warned of possible consequences of not using escrow when dealing with a newbie account with no prior trade history or reputation. All he had to do is to check his trust rating and this would be avoided.

@mikepom should open a thread in scam accusation board and raise a flag against him.
5263  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: December 10, 2020, 08:44:34 AM

Merit/Post ratio u periodu 01.11-30.11

5264  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Moneta - Plagiarized Whitepaper on: December 09, 2020, 05:16:48 PM
User Moneta Holdings17 sent me a PM about reconsidering neg feedback on his profile.
As I say in my previous post here, waiting for his response here, I didn't get a single argument, why it is necessary to check it again. Still waiting for an explanation, even if we know that there will be the usual justification "they hire an agency which plagiarizes WP..."
I will not discuss this through PM.
I got the PM as well, and also don't have any intentions to talk about it via PM. If he wants to say something, he should do it here, even though I am not sure that he can say anything for me to change my mind.

I don't think they'll reply here, based on their answer for my invitation to explain their action on this thread, I think they justifies plagiarism as a legal, or at least neutral, action.
His reply is pure bs, seems like he is not even aware of the issue and how wrong is what they did. Given their reply, I don't think that waiting 1 day or 10 days will make any difference whatsoever so I suggest that you raise the flag now.
5265  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ Warning] Bitszcoin plagiarized entire whitepaper! on: December 09, 2020, 10:26:31 AM
Totally plagiarized whitepaper including graphics and images, and even their website is generic theme used by many projects.
Both bitzcoin and original project are from India, so maybe same people made them both, and using that stupid bitzcoin name is also very shady.
This is one of the more blatant plagiarism cases I've seen lately, completely ripped of another idea that wasn't even blockchain based. I think that only connection between those two is the fact that they are India based so that's how they found about it.

Original whitepaper has authors mentioned: Aurobindo Saxena (his picture is in the original whitepaper too), Priyesha Singh, Rashi Jain and  Disha Ahuja. That part was removed in Bitzscoin whitepaper simply because those people are not part of their team and probably have nothing to with this scam attempt.

Flag should be created for this.
Flag created, please support:

5266  Economy / Scam Accusations / [Warning] Bitszcoin plagiarized entire whitepaper! on: December 09, 2020, 09:56:08 AM
What happened: Bitzcoin copied entire whitepaper. It is in fact made back in 2016, and they just copied everything and presenting it as their own without mentioning original source. Only thing they did by themselves is adding token metrics and other crypto related info, and removing the things that point to the real source of whitepaper.

5267  Economy / Reputation / Re: [LIST] ANN threads that are using bumping services on: December 09, 2020, 09:12:58 AM
One more ANN thread added to the list

[ANN] Cryptoenter - THE WORLD'S FIRST DEFI SERVICE ON THE ENTERPRISE BLOCKCHAIN!
Bunch of newbie accounts that were made in 2018/2019 and had no prior post history suddenly woke up and decided to write exclusively in Cryptoenter thread, doing most basic shilling, writing one liners and pretending to be interested. It still baffles me how those "marketing services" manage to sell that to projects, don;t they see how fake that looks? Or maybe they are aware but simply don't care as  they want is to increase score in equally pointless and useless ICO tracking sites.
5268  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Moneta - Plagiarized Whitepaper on: December 09, 2020, 08:19:53 AM
I didn't have plagiarism scanner that'll help outlining their entire copy-paste document, and although I spent a good two hours trying to find a decent one, none of the free version would help the entire 80+ pages of their WP... or maybe I'm just clueless, LOL. If anyone have a decent app or full account (or perhaps can share a site with full free scanning) please scan their WP as I am sure almost everything is plagiarized from several sources.
No worries about these tools, you did good and showed their intention, and for that few copied pages are enough, you don't have to show whole whitepaper. You are right though about other parts being plagiarized as they also copied some stuff from Bitcoin whitepaper which is pretty obvious to notice if you read whole whitepaper, and incredibly stupid from Moneta. I tagged the op and will gladly support the flag if you make one.

By the way, nice catch and good thing that you noticed it early!

This team is also very suspicious to me. I did not find any details about them over the internet. Only some relations to stock images. It will be interesting if someone has some free time to research are these images generated by AI.
Yep, team looks dodgy af. None of the team members that have LinkedIn profile shared mentions Moneta, which is another red flag.

It baffles me that new projects are still plagiarizing parts of their whitepapers and then starting up ANN threads here.  They must not be aware of how much they're under a microscope when it comes to shilling their wares on bitcointalk.
Now that you mentioned shilling, I think that they are doing that too. There are few suspicious newbies asking those standard questions, pretending to be interested and then OP answers them. Another "coincidence" is that they just woke up after a break and were active on some other threads that were using the same tactic.

Moneta has "money grab" written all over them, and I suggest everyone to avoid this.
5269  Economy / Reputation / Re: Experiment, the last 10 ETH address found in Patrol. 50% Genuine users* on: December 08, 2020, 12:22:14 PM
Welp, so long as somebody decides its a good idea to keep recruiting bounty hunters to advertise various shitcoin projects to each other all day long, the cycle will continue infinitely. I really don't understand how running a bounty is the least bit profitable knowing bounty hunters will always do the minimum amount of required work to get their tokens...
The way I see it, owners of those altcoin projects know that their shitcoins are worthless, so why not throw some at the bounty hunters, and maybe at least social media followers numbers will look better. Majority of bounty managers (someone correct me if I'm wrong) are paid either in those shitcoins or so little that is not much expense. And in the case that altcoin actually performs ok, you can always delay distribution for months or even years, reduce bounty poll, introduce KYC and whatnot.

A long time ago when I was involved in an ICO, I checked our website analytics pretty regularly and determined bounty hunters were barely driving any traffic to our website. I know that there's more to it than that, like getting out brand recognition and stuff, but bounty hunters just advertise to themselves all day, like they do here in Altcoin Discussion, on Facebook and Twitter (its easy to get 5,000 FB friends or Twitter followers if you're all bounty hunters and you all follow each other).
No surprise that their reach is zero, since all their followers are other bounty hunters/bots and those certainly are not interested in buying tokens. Basically an echo chamber.
5270  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: December 08, 2020, 09:31:38 AM
I know of the effect from sample size (this case, total posts) and your chart shows an overview only and without other factors, your chart can disclose something accurately or does not make any sense because biases from non-inclusive factors.
This overview doesn't go in depth and honestly I don't even want to. And even if I wanted to, I am not an expert in the matter. I just wanted to share  few basic info regarding each local board and put it in some easily understandable chart, hence the word "brief" in the title. If I really go in depth I think that people would loose all interest for it (assuming that there is some interest for this kind of approach), and if they want to check it a  little bit more thorough, they can always use Merit Dashboard.

Example: A local topic received 100 merits in a specific month but OP receive 80 or 90 merits and total posts in one month is 100. It means 80-90% of earned merit centralized in OP, and most of the 99 rest posts are mostly shit posts.
True, merit shared and merit ratio doesn't give clear picture of local board quality. In the end, only those that speak the language and are active there can know that. But to try to give a little bit more info how merit is spread and how many people are part of merit system, I started making that merit senders/receivers chart. That one also shouldn't be taken too seriously either, but it does show some stuff. For example, it's obvious that merit shared is very decentralized in Pilipinas board.
5271  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: December 08, 2020, 07:49:23 AM
Minor suggestion, @Rikafip:

Would you mind use width option inside the img brackets to make smaller images visually, please. It takes me for a while to scroll the mouse from top to bottom of one page.
Usually I set the width at 800, but for this one I made a mistake and set it at 900, and now it's back to the old value, thanks for pointing that out. I don't want to decrease it further though as due chart orientation it won't make a huge difference even if I decrease it further 30 %, it will just make it less readable. And to be honest, I quite like it how it looks at the moment Wink

I see a sudden pump of merit per post ratio from 0.07 to 0.53. Your charts only confirm my findings Cheesy
I guess you are referring to Nigerian topic? Yeah that ratio can vary a lot on those boards with low post count. One very good post with a lot of merit received and ratio gets inflated. Then again some other local boards ratio is decreasing constantly.
5272  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: December 08, 2020, 07:32:38 AM
November is behind us so it's time for yet another overview of the local boards.

Data used for making these charts was taken from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard which you should check if you want more detailed look at your local board.

Communities marked with * don't have their own local board and are located in Other languages/locations.

Post activity per local board during November 2020

Big surprise on this chart, Turkish local board was the most active one, ahead of Russian and German. This is the 2nd time since I am making this overview that Russian didn't ed up at the top. While first time it was due high amount of deleted posts, according to data available that's not the reason for huge decrease compared to previous month when Russian board had more than 18,000 posts (they did have big decrease in altcoin section). Beside Turkish, few other big boards like German, French and Portuguese experienced big increase in the activity, which is not a surprise considering the current market situation. Hopefully this trend will continue in upcoming months.

Out of four communities without local board, Bangladesh is consistently for months the most active one and stands quite good even when compared with the ones with local board, and Pakistan ain't bad either. Who knows, if they keep being active and keep topic clean from spam, maybe they get their own local board one day.

Merit shared per local board during November 2020

No big surprises there, majority of active boards shared relatively similar amount of merit like they did during October and they even kept very similar ranking like during the last period.

Indonesian board keep getting merit amount decreased month after month, while the one that had biggest drop percentage wise was Bangladesh, with only 4 merits shared during whole November which is a pretty low considering more than 300 posts written. Afaik, they do have merit application pending (same as few other local boards without merit source) so hopefully that gets sorted eventually.

Merit senders/receivers per local board during November 2020

As expected, this chart pretty much follows the amount of merit shared, with a few standard exceptions like Pilipinas board, whihc has very high amount of members that are part of merit system, considering the amount of merit shared. Four communities without local board are missing from this chart as I didn't have exact data.

Merit/Post ratio per local board during November 2020

All standard boards are pretty much at the top half of the chart, with Russian board being unusually high due much lower post count compared to previous months while keeping similar amount of shared merit, therefore boosting the ratio, and few big one like German and French had decreased ratio due significant increase (approximately 50% ) in pots count.

Just to add once again that these numbers can vary a lot from month to month, especially on the boards with lower post count so they can easily end up very high, like Dutch, Nigerian and Romanian did on this chart.

5273  Economy / Reputation / Re: Experiment, the last 10 ETH address found in Patrol. 50% Genuine users* on: December 08, 2020, 07:27:16 AM
Today many farms participate in bounty campaigns. I regularly report violations from the ban. But the funny thing is that after the ban, they create even more accounts.
Yep, this is basically whack-a-amole game we play with them, and one has to ask himself does it even make any sense to report newbie accounts as it costs them literally 0 USD to make a new one. And they will do exactly that, ban or two won't make them change their mind. They can even replace Twitter/Facebook and other social media accounts as followers there can be easily bought for a few dollars.

Faced with such messages, I am surprised at the stubbornness and, to some extent, stupidity of people. They themselves complain that it is impossible to make money in the bounty, but despite this they still waste their time on it. Angry
They simply join just about any new bounty campaign that shows up, and then hope that out of dozens or hundreds few will bring them few bucks. Most of them are lazy and don't have any skills or interest in crypto, and none of that is needed to share tweets and facebook posts.

5275  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Another fake electrum wallet on google playstore on: December 07, 2020, 08:56:11 PM
Has anyone also noticed that the reviews on electrum pro app were all made on the same day (July 13, 2020)?
Code:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.e.l.e.c.t.r.u.m.pro&showAllReviews=true
Yeah, bunch of fake reviews for that app, standard pratcice of those scammers. It is unbelievable that fake app can be on PlayStore for four-five months without Google removing it. I mean, there is no way that no one in all these months didn't report the app. Or Google just casually ignores them if only few are made.

5276  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Statistika lokalnog foruma on: December 07, 2020, 08:11:21 AM

5277  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Another fake electrum wallet on google playstore on: December 07, 2020, 07:08:41 AM
I tried to search for it on Google Playstore but I don't see if as the original electrum, wallet keeps coming up, probably because I have it installed. If possible, please include the malicious app's link so that I can help report from side. The google guys kind of act quick when it comes to phishing and malicious apps and take them down as soon as possible.
This is the link:

Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.e.l.e.c.t.r.u.m.pro
I think what he meant is that he can't see this fake Electrum wallet if he just types "Electrum" or Electrum wallet" inside PlayStore. So I decided to check, and as a matter of fact I could see not one but three fake Electrum wallets inside the PlayStore, even though I have the real Electrum already installed. Here are two more

Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatalkoes.poalkoe
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatbs.lokene

It is a fact that huge majority of people download their apps via PlayStore and not directly and have no idea how dangerous that can be, so this is becoming a real issue now. There are several cases each month, and this number will keep increasing if Google doesn't react and start checking them manually.
5278  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: December 06, 2020, 07:14:29 PM
Am I really the only one who noticed this ^^^ school example of plagiarism??

Not only that he copied Kojektea's votes including the two typos, Julanbex is also guilty of ban evading as he has two previously banned accounts. I made a post about his copy/paste voting and  ban evading case yesterday. Not a surprise that newbie accounts started  showing up, given the circumstances, but this often happens to those that are greedy enough to crawl out of the  bounty section. School example of stupidity.

Get that julanbex guy out of here.
He will get banned, but that won't be the last of him for sure.
5279  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Glasanje za najbolji bitcointalk intervju on: December 06, 2020, 11:30:15 AM

5280  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Source - Plagiarist on: December 06, 2020, 07:36:59 AM
In a stricter sense like in case this was published somewhere else, what was done here could be counted as plagiarism even if a credit was given at the end of an article or a book for example?
For example, in academic world, if you verbatim copy something without making clear distinction that's not your own words (and you do that by putting those sentences in quotation marks) it will be seen as plagiarism, even if you provide reference link at the end. So yeah, in those circles this would count as plagiarism.

Then again, we are on bitcointalk and here we have a bit more relaxed rules in regard to that, so those that call for a ban/tag over something like this are wrong simply because according to bitcointalk practice, this is not plagiarism. As simple as that.

With that being said, I do think that people should be encouraged to deal with verbatim copying in a proper way, no matter whether bitcointalk see it as a plagiarism or not, simply because it is an honest and right thing to do and by doing that we are setting an example for the others, especially new members. I tried to explain that to some users (I thought it's just a matter of ignorance)  that verbatim copying should be dealt with in a proper manner, to no avail.
