I've been trying to see what CIYAM can do for me.  Though, CIYAM is like a boxed templating engine.  No coding.  So...fail when it comes to thinking out of the box.

What I have created is something that is very new - there is no coding because there is no need for it - it is not *templating* in any sense that people are familiar with at all.

If you take a look at "Intentional Software" then you might begin to get a glimpse of what that CIYAM platform is about. It can actually create basically any "arbitrary" code you like without you needing to hand-code it.

Imagine templates that are combined with templates many levels deep and some can be as simple as a logical expression such as x = x + y. If you can grasp this then you'll begin to realise that CIYAM is absolutely *nothing* like anything you have seen before.

ASIC is not a *who* - it stands for Application Specific Integrated Circuit - basically a *chip* designed to just mine Bitcoin that is *way* faster than a whole
"wang ba" of top-notch GPUs.

People using ASIC will be running then 24x7 - if you are interested in mining with GPU then you might want to consider mining LTC rather than BTC.
5263  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Internet Café? on: April 20, 2013, 08:34:32 AM
Now that ASIC has appeared no "wang ba" chain could really even make a dent in mining (and you can't play games with an ASIC machine - it's just a box that does hashing).
5264  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: very simple transaction question - PLEASE PUT MY MIND AT REST JUST BRIEFLY READ on: April 20, 2013, 03:13:45 AM
I would think so - am not sure how Bitstamp works but generally once your funds have been credited to your account the UTXOs are *theirs* to do with as they please (i.e. they don't *host a wallet* for you) so spending of those UTXOs (which could be movement to cold storage or simply a withdrawal for another account holder) is to be expected.

If your balance is not displaying the funds after 6 confirmations then you might need to check with Bitstamp support that nothing has gone wrong (could just be some sort of delay on their end).
5265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Keypool command question on: April 20, 2013, 03:04:13 AM
I was unclear in my previous post.  I encrypted manually using 7-zip, not the built in encryption option of bitcoin-qt.

Okay - that makes a *big* difference - and *yes* the "old backup" is fine provided you haven't used up all of the keypool from your original backup (noting that *change* addresses are taken from the keypool so assume 1 address used whether the tx is a send or receive).

If you encrypt the wallet *in* bitcoin-qt then the keypool is *discarded* making the scenario you described *a recipe for loss* (which has been reported by at one or two forum members before).

As D&T advised keep several backups (naming according to date is not a bad idea at all) and also with any significant amounts you would be advised to use "cold storage".

Am worried about the appearance of the "one ring" and where we are going to find the little folk to take it to an active volcano to rid the world of its all encompassing evil power.

Gopher - wow - I do remember using that at least a year prior to the first version of Mozilla that I ever used (which was also before it was called Navigator).
5268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Keypool command question on: April 19, 2013, 02:29:19 PM
Not quite sure "why" you would want to do this (especially the deleting of the copied wallet) but provided that you hadn't used keys that were already part of the encrypted wallet then yes they will be used by the new wallet before any later keys (if you re-encrypt before using though then all unused keys will first be discarded AFAIA).
5269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Isn't this newbie restriction promoting spams? on: April 19, 2013, 01:51:01 PM
I get what you're saying, but an hour a day just to be able to post to a forum? Not all of us have that kind of time to spend on a single website.

Before Bitcointalk the only "forum" I had ever posted on was a support one (which was VBulletin based from memory) back in the early 2000s - now I have well over a thousand posts and am developing an exciting Bitcoin project - if you had told me that I would be spending an hour or so per day (at least) reading and often posting on a forum back in 2010 I would have laughed at you.

I think Bitcoin and this forum quickly become more like an obsession than a hobby - I would recommend you take the red pill and join in the wildest ride since the internet became known to the masses!

You need to keep clicking in order for the "time spent online" to be incremented - so whilst it can take a while even if you spend only an hour a day on the forum then provided that you are actively clicking on numerous topics (rather than just leaving the webpage sitting) it shouldn't even take a week to have accumulated the required time (am pretty sure it only took myself a day).
5271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Isn't this newbie restriction promoting spams? on: April 19, 2013, 12:34:14 PM
Luckily Bruno has created several topics like the "Let's count to 21 million" for newbies to get up their 5 posts in a more creative manner than just senseless spam (maybe some links in the introductory area might be helpful).
5272  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: defending ahead the p2p nature of bitcoin - blending hashcash & scrypt on: April 19, 2013, 12:26:35 PM
Very nice to see you here (although perhaps you meant 2008-2009 wrt emails from Satoshi) - just as an offside (being someone who has implemented hashcash into a webmail app as a tip of the hat to the invention itself rather than anything I expect people to use) can you shed light on why it (hashcash) never actually took off wrt fighting spam (was it due to the emergence of smart phones that would have forced the difficulty to be too easy or the success of baysian equation algos or perhaps some other reasons)?
5273  Other / Meta / Re: The forum software does not parse old school smileys :-( on: April 19, 2013, 12:18:17 PM
Although I am well over 40 I've had no trouble adjusting to the shorter smileys (but it is a pain when you like to use parenthesis and just happen to end up with a number at the end whose final character is an Cool.

5274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Client does not recognize/forgets my Bitcoins on: April 19, 2013, 06:09:01 AM
It should rescan automatically with importprivkey (unless you explicitly tell it not to) but you could always try shutting bitcoin-qt down and then restarting it using the -rescan option to force it to rescan.

Note also that the rescan can take quite a bit of time (depending upon your hardware).

BTW - you did verify that the correct address was imported (i.e. it is in your list of receive addresses)?
5275  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto-currency with builtin inflation corellated with hoarding ratio. on: April 19, 2013, 05:57:58 AM
Please note that it is Bitcoin (not BitCoin) - as for hoarding preventing usage please explain why the number of business accepting Bitcoin has increased even more rapidly since the block halving occurred (surely it should have got less).

And please don't forget about "fartcoin" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=161324.0).

Unless you mean using ISO standard dating? Ha! That's for nerds and computer geeks.

Actually yyyy-mm-dd is what is used in China (and although they have quite a lot of nerds and computer geeks certainly that is not the majority of people living in PRC).
5278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need help receiving btc to local (offline wallet) on: April 19, 2013, 03:09:03 AM
As you are wanting to do this with an "offline wallet" you might be best using a deterministic wallet (not yet part of the Satoshi client) otherwise you would need to pre-generate a bunch of key pairs (using say vanitygen) and transport the public ones across to your online computer.
5279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need help receiving btc to local (offline wallet) on: April 19, 2013, 02:06:14 AM
The best way would be to create a different address for each and every transaction - note that the re-use of addresses is not advised.
5280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop cloning scamcoins! on: April 18, 2013, 04:02:05 PM
On an another level this also shows a new (post copyright/patent) way of doing things - you can copy all that you like (and are free to do so) but when the product is free in the first place unless you have something much better on offer then you simply have nothing better to offer.

I think this is something that the big copyright/patent advocates should be paying attention to (as according to their theories Bitcoin should have already been consumed by its clones).

Satoshi didn't bother to copyright or patent anything - yet no-one has been able to better it - not the kind of thing that occurs in the "we are being ripped off more than the entire economy of film making" claims of Hollywood and the "we would all be ruined" claims by the big pharma companies.
