5281  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FX-Chain scam on: May 24, 2022, 01:32:52 PM
Damn! Losing Ł25.000 sucks no matter what your financial situation is. What I would like to know is how did you even come across that FX Chain (whatever that is supposed to be)? I would recommend you reconsider your online activities that led you to start sending money to those scammers and be exposed to such scam opportunities.

I tried to do a Google search on FX Chain and the results show audio software.
Searching for "FX blockchain" suggest a project called Function X. But that's not it, is it? That token is listed and is trading on several exchanges.

A bit of a confusing introduction, but OK. Welcome to Bitcointalk - a place where you don't have to pay anything because knowledge is meant to be free.
What happened after that one-day training course? You never ended your story. You paid those $3, listened to a seminar on Bitcoin, and what happened in the days and weeks after that? Was there even a job on offer or did the "company" disappear after the interview?

Whatever your experience was, I hope you understand it has nothing to do with Bitcoin. You were obviously tricked to pay money for something and that's where it ends. Bitcoin isn't to blame. Neither can you blame blockchain technology, or its creators. But this forum has plenty of resources that can teach you how to spot and protect yourselves from obvious scams and schemes.
5283  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Correcting newbie's can be done in a nicer way using a polite approach on: May 24, 2022, 09:29:29 AM
Ok, here are some corrections in a polite way.

- If you want to be taken seriously, act like a human being and not like a bot. Participate in the discussion threads you are creating. I have gone through most of the threads you have written on the first page of your profile and they all have one thing in common. Only the OP is from you, and you never return to your discussions to engage the community in normal discourse. Talk with the members on Bitcointalk like you do with your friends and family. You don't start the day by saying a couple of sentences to them and then go quiet for the rest of the day.

- Stay out of the off-topic boards. People who mostly post in off-topic usually have ulterior motives. They are building up their activity points with posts that have nothing to do with Bitcoin and crypto. A Bitcoin forum is about Bitcoin, hence its name. There is no problem talking about off-topic things, but that shouldn't be the main focus. If someone comes here to discuss cotton candy and living room chandeliers, maybe there are better online communities for those people.

Genuine people are in 99% of the cases not treated unfairly on Bitcointalk, no matter their rank.

Enjoy your stay!

Koji ICP? (ICP) ili (IDU) (ICP)? Iako su cijene iste koliko vidim.
Sisar govori o Internet Computer projektu i ICP coinu. Ne znam šta je IDU ali ja i nisam prava osoba za priče o altcoinima. Jel IDU neki token na Internet Computer blockchainu ili je neki coin koji nije uopšte vezan za ovaj projekat?
5285  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Show off your hardware wallet on: May 24, 2022, 08:17:07 AM
I have an Arculus, so far it works.
I have never heard anyone mention this particular brand of hardware wallets before except maybe Ratimov in that big list of his. Feel free to share some more information about it and tell us how it works. Some pictures would also be appreciated similarly to how other users submitted theirs.
5286  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal For NoorulHuda. on: May 23, 2022, 06:01:25 PM
I know all of them are good poeple mprep, Halab, Cyrus and hilariousandco and of course theymos is the best (maybe this can help :p)
No, that's not the way to do it. You need to be talking about how handsome the admins are. Talk about theymos' calves. He loves that. Tell him how stunning he looks in tight shorts. That will get him all worked up.
5287  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Kutak za kulturni trenutak on: May 23, 2022, 05:55:05 PM
Meni zaista nije legao.

Jesi gledao i jel ti leži ta vrsta filmova?
5288  Other / Meta / Re: Email address when making reports on: May 23, 2022, 05:17:35 PM
For some people it could be, i know people that create email accounts with a combination of all of their names, not that it can affect them too much, but it is somehow connected to their identity in real life.
Yeah, but you should avoid that in the first place. Like I said, there is no reason to use an email that shows your real name or one connected with a third-party site where your name can be obtained from there. This is a forum where you are not asked to identify yourself, so it's better if people used that to their advantage. A username is everything you need.

No one should unnecessarily risk putting a target on their backs by revealing what street they live on, how they look, what their names are, and how many Bitcoins they have managed to collect after all these years.

5290  Other / Meta / Re: How do you feel when someone gives you MERIT? on: May 23, 2022, 09:36:04 AM
If you work hard on something, it's a good feeling getting acknowledged and rewarded for it. On this forum, the way to show appreciation to someone's efforts is to merit their posts. Merits have more value than likes on social media and they are not the same thing. You can like every single post on FB, if you want to. You can't merit posts here unless you have the needed sMerits to do it. And you won't get merited unless you contribute in ways that others will like and appreciate.
5291  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal: Adding grey underline in every links on: May 23, 2022, 09:23:55 AM
i was just looking for some risks and possible threat to someone's btt profile ! i found this! as an android user (not sure about ios devices) it's so much hard to identify the difference! I don't use the btt often so it's so much hard for me to detect! is there any solution to this? like filtering out the phishing site and ban them from btt? so that no one could use that link in btt forum and get a warning for using them
If you can't even see the link because it's hidden somewhere in the post, it's unlikely you would even click on it. How would it even happen? You would have to click on every word, character, and empty space to find the hidden hyperlink. No one does that.

If Bitcointalk had some sort of database with known phishing links, it would need to be a work in progress that has to be constantly updated and maintained by someone. Hackers, scammers, and thieves aren't resting and are creating new sites and ways to attack people daily. If the forum banned sites 1-100, they can just create new ones.

Besides, there already is some sort of script that recognizes unwanted links and domains. I have seen links being broken with the message "suspicious link removed".
5292  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal For NoorulHuda. on: May 23, 2022, 09:12:28 AM
I have been thinking why no admin or moderator replied to me yet? Do I need to send DM to any one?

Can please someone guide me?
It isn't necessary but you can try it. What do you have to lose, you are already banned. Worst thing - you remain banned forever. Anything less than that (like a temp ban or a signature ban) is a plus in your book.
You are a newbie and maybe the staff you are planning to contact have disabled the possibility of newbies PMing them.

What you can do is explain what good you have done for the forum since you have been here and how the forum would benefit if you are given a second chance. If the staff like what they see, they might reconsider the ban...
5293  Other / Meta / Re: Email address when making reports on: May 23, 2022, 08:53:22 AM
Doesn't seem like too big of a problem to be honest. Your forum email account shouldn't be something that is connected to your real identity anyways. But I agree that there is no reason to keep logs of it. If what Xal0lex said is correct, that's no longer happening anyways. But then again, maybe Xal0lex never saw the email addresses in the first place and this is something only the admins can answer correctly.
5294  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide] on: May 23, 2022, 08:41:15 AM
Lol, a lot of folks seem to get frustrated with jerry, but he doesn't bother me at all.  I imagine he's not very experienced with computers, and trying to learn general computing and crypto at the same time would be daunting for any of us.
Most people active in the technical boards have stopped responding in his topics altogether. I have no problems helping anyone if I can. The problem with Jerry is that you tell him something yesterday and he asks the same thing today. Next week, he will ask it again. The perfect examples are updates to Ledger Live and the crypto apps. Should I update, when should I update, what percentage of the world population already updated, can I lose my coins if I update, will I get a virus when I update, a new version came out last week, do I need to update this time...

The chances of Bitcoin switching to POS are greater than the chances of Jerry not asking about an update.
5295  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Square is considering making a hardware wallet for Bitcoin on: May 22, 2022, 03:52:49 PM
Well, it's possible this 'feature' will be dropped. Or opt-in or something. As you correctly say, it would be possible to build a system like this:
[1] setup normal 2-out-of-3 multisig
[2] they refuse to cosign for large amounts
---
^ this is the first 'killer feature' they want to implement
In this scenario of yours, does the user still have access to his mobile app and device where the keys are stored or did he lose one/both of them? If it's a normal 2-out-of-3 multisig, Square's signature wouldn't even be needed. Having the control of how much the user is and isn't allowed to spend from his own money is another highlight in the long list of 'no thanks' for this product of theirs.
5296  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I buy bitcoin and its not came upp to wallet . on: May 22, 2022, 03:40:22 PM
As for the rule against posting in your native tongue, or using google translate in the general boards; I think an exception should be made in the technical boards when asking for help.
I have seen people who don't speak English do it several times, so that really shouldn't be a problem why people could get in trouble with the Bitcointalk staff. Not everyone speaks English, but they still might require some help. I see it only becoming a problem if you start building your account by posting a lot of Google translated content. But in rare occasions where the person is probably only her to get help with Bitcoin, it's not a big deal. One call always mention that the post is Google translated and the reason why if that is a requirement.
5297  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide] on: May 22, 2022, 09:09:03 AM
Now, do i need to update electrum again if i plan to use it?
You literally replied to one of my posts a few hours ago saying you don't want to use Electrum anymore because you prefer Ledger Live.

Well i kind of don't want to use electrum anymore.  Haven't used it in years and only used ledger live with the nano ledger s.

And here you are asking whether or not you should verify the newer versions of the software. You should verify each new Electrum version before installing it on your computer no matter how often they come out.

5298  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I buy bitcoin and its not came upp to wallet . on: May 22, 2022, 08:47:46 AM
<Snip>
"Köpa" is indeed the Swedish word for "buy". OP obviously doesn't speak English, and the post is also not translated with google translate or a similar automated translation tool because it contains spelling mistakes. I would suggest you use Google translate and just post in your native Swedish language and paste the results here. It should provide more clarity.

There is no Swedish local thread in the Other languages/locations sub that I am aware of.
OP should use the Skandinavisk local if he wants to write in his mother tongue. The activity there is quite poor though.
5299  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which bitcoin addresses are the bitcoin located in the nano ledger s? on: May 22, 2022, 08:22:47 AM
But what percentage of people are using nano ledger s with electrum as oppose to ledger live?  Got to be a very small percentage?
I will answer you that question as soon as you can tell me what percentage of people are wearing shorts RIGHT NOW in their own homes compared to those wearing pants. I am going to need precise stats and data for all EU countries + Brazil.

Can't imagine many non tech people using electrum since verifying electrum isn't that easy for most people.
There are tutorials on how to do it on this forum and outside sources. Anyone who can read and follow instructions can do it.

You could only use ledger live or electrum with nano ledger correct?
I am not sure what you are asking. If the question is if you can connect 3rd-party hardware wallets (like Trezor) to Ledger Live, then the answer is no, you can't. Ledger Live is for Ledger hardware wallet only. But some other hardware wallets can be connected to Electrum.
5300  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Square is considering making a hardware wallet for Bitcoin on: May 22, 2022, 08:12:50 AM
I don't consider shared control to be full control. Full control means that I, and I alone, have control over my coins.
Me neither, nor am I defending that model. I am just making conclusions based on the things that have been revealed here about Square.

You have (full) control in the sense that you can move your coins without requesting permission (It sounds incredibly stupid even writing this when you are thinking about Bitcoin) from Square because you have two of the private keys. But you don't have full control when it comes to the sole custody of said keys and the coins they are supposed to protect.
