5281  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory Wallet, with Bitcoin Depot issues - deposit is lost? on: January 29, 2019, 02:55:07 AM
The version that you're using was already outdated, in fact, the site (www.bitcoinarmory.com) has a link to the new official website.

NOTE
For latest news and release please see btcarmory.com or the discussion thread.

Try to upgrade Armory then your coins should show up. Just make sure that you have the backup SEED or wallet.dat just in case.
*This thread might be moved to Armory sub-forum.

I know a hardware wallet is better but I just wanted to try Bitcoin if for only one transaction.
An alternative (req. a full-node) client like Armory isn't the best choice then, just extract the address' Private key and Import it to Electrum (Electrum.org).

Hey, there's a guy who's using your miner's name and thread contents to distribute a virus. Link to his thread
Probably another Russian hacker or the same guy who've done the same thing last year.

I've already reported him but it would be best if you can immediately reply an allegation to minimize the possible victims.
Time's ticking.
5283  Other / Meta / Re: Deleted posts? on: January 28, 2019, 06:37:54 AM
A snag with mining hardware I was adding info as it came up.

what a stupid rule for senior users.
Mining Board? Yeah, that's the top 1 most moderated places in the forum, expect rule-breaking posts to be deleted ASAP.
If you ever saw a thread with multiple replies from a single user, that doesn't mean that it's allowed. Moderators of the particular board may be inactive or didn't received any reports.

Why don't you just edit the post and add a horizontal line spacer ([hr]) followed by -edit- or -update- to mark where the edited parts are?

-update-

Like this.

 Cheesy LOL
You used the N letter to make the 2 of 2019?  Cheesy
Whoa, a keen eye for edits. Side effect of OCD I guess...
5285  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 28, 2019, 05:13:50 AM
Physical metals are a safeguard against intrusion by govt
-snip-

We're going digital, you know it and there's nothing you can do to stop it.  Your energy would be better spent working to help bitcoin decentralize.

Going digital or decentralized can't actually stop the Government and their regulations.
5286  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Www.bitwinex.co _ Is it a SCAM ? on: January 28, 2019, 03:30:15 AM
Does anyone familiar with bitwinex.co website to be used for trading bitcoins ?
It seems like that the Original name of the Exchange was "Bitwin Exchange" since the site displays the logo (footer) as Bitwin.
If it was Bitwin, then this must be the ANN thread of the ICO where it originated and Yikes!~ Take a look at the Author's Trust History (links say it all).

What is it with all these newbies finding all these obscure exchanges?
Beats me, but I got good guesses:
  • They found the Ad from Faucet sites which has 80% Ponzi ScamsAds, 10% Fake ICOs, 5% Fake Exchanges & 5% Referral links.
  • Newbies who received Airdropped Token/ShitCoin & finding a way to sell them only to find that it's only listed on these type of Exchange.
  • Some are posting the url of the site on the thread title as a silly publicity stunt.
5287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help with a transaction please on: January 27, 2019, 09:34:04 AM
The said Transaction is clearly visible in blockexplorers and the output was already spent which means that he already received it.

If you're sure that the other's receiving address is: 132vDEYg3gAsA86eMxRcwsaQpfeUWZn7Le, there are couple of reasons why he didn't receive the bitcoins: [1] his wallet isn't synced or offline, [2] he is lying or [3] he's expecting a different coin [4] You might be a victim of a clipboard-hijacking malware/virus.

[1] Some users experience trouble connecting their Electrum client to any Server; if the Circle indicator on the Lower-left side of Electrum is Red, the client is offline.
[2] .......... just a possibility.
[3] There are couple of Bitcoin forks out there that share the same name and there's one in particular that is known for misleading newbies to believe that it is the real Bitcoin. The "person on the other side" might be using an old BCH wallet version that still uses "1" address.
[4] It's a well-known malware that changes the BTC address from your clipboard (Copy) into the hacker's address (Paste) to reroute that particular transaction. (Scan your PC using a reputable AV)
5288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DragonMint T1 power usage? on: January 27, 2019, 05:13:36 AM
Thanks for your help and the link. So at that rate I'd use about 10,700kwh per month. And at .09/kwh I'm looking at a $1000/mth electric bill for one T1 miner.
Definitely can't to afford to start mining with Asics just yet. Maybe I'll start with gpu's or fpga.
35.5kWh ∙ 30Days = 1065kwH per Month for a single T1 Miner, where did 10,700kWh came from?

Perhaps, this? (1,480):
1,480(kW) x 24 (hours in day) = 35.5 kWh (whole day consumption)
Some members are using comma (,) instead of dots (.) in decimals which is confusing, IMO.
Or he just mistyped (kW) instead of (W).
5289  Economy / Exchanges / Re: WARNING: DO NOT LOGIN TO LOCALBITCOINS on: January 27, 2019, 04:07:39 AM
I once said that you need to store Bitcoin, namely, you knew about your cold wallets, but you used other exchanges.
Typical... you know that those bitcoins are in an Exchange because users want/need to trade right? (Apparently, obviously, surely, most of them got their "own" wallet)
You can't easily use a Cold wallet that was buried 20-feet under a random area guided with a "X" on a map to buy a HYPEd shitcoin before it get pumped.

If that's the case and the team is as professional as they claim to be, they should reimburse the users. Just another reason on why you shouldn't keep your funds in exchanges by the way.
I'm afraid that keeping most of the coins in a hot/cold wallet not possible for someone who's day trading. Personally, I prefer keeping higher exchange balance than in cold wallet since highly-priced orders yield higher profit.
Specially now that the price is on its (*typo edit) best buy, predictable low-liqudity and mostly everyone is expecting a rise.

Usually, it goes like this:
Source (ex.Mining)---→(HotWallet)--→EXCHANGE---(Mixer)---→Cold Wallet (Savings)
Other Sources-------⤴---------------⤴                 ↪-----→Hot Wallet  (Expenses)

Fortunately, legitimate exchanges today are heavily regulated and problems such as missing funds can be legally resolved.
5290  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Question to the developer - is the new 3.3.3 version safe? on: January 26, 2019, 09:40:58 AM
I asked a friend to download from the official site Electrum and also to check. He has the same thing = also shows viruses
Does your friend often exchanges files with you? Do you have an antivirus installed? AFAIK, that virus was known to immediately infect every .exe files in the system.

There's a chance that you and your friend's PC are both already compromised before, and that detection/infection didn't originated from the downloaded Electrum executable.
Try to upload to VT a file (any .exe file in your system), if it's positive, your system was compromised through other means.
5291  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Question to the developer - is the new 3.3.3 version safe? on: January 26, 2019, 06:24:02 AM
Where did you get that version of Electrum?
Make sure that the URL has the correct domain and extension; it should be electrum.org, not (dot)com or (dot)cf or anything.

I'm currently downloading the latest version from the official site to check this myself. I'll edit this later.

-edit-
My AV can't seem to find any Viruses in the Latest Version, it should be safe as long as it came from the official site (at least for Windows version).
If you've downloaded this version from a link on an error message, move your funds to a safe newly created wallet in a different PC installed with the original Electrum immediately!

VirusTotal's scan result: VirusTotalURL=https://download.electrum.org/3.3.3/electrum-3.3.3-setup.exe
5292  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Report: In Indonesia legal Bitcoin is based on commodities on: January 26, 2019, 04:24:44 AM
I'm not sure why you guys considered me talking about Localbitcoins. Did I mention it in my post? I don't even recall writing about Localbitcoin here.
(lol) Sry, I was lost in thoughts by the post of the other guy that assumed localbitcoins as the P2P Exchange that you're talking about.
But anyways, you still got the point.

guys u see this pattern or
-link sniped-
I don't know what you're trying to share or ask but, the image isn't displayed but requested to be downloaded as a screensaver (which is very suspicious).
Reported for a possible malware. Just reupload it in any reputable image hosting site like imgur.com Wink
5293  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Report: In Indonesia legal Bitcoin is based on commodities on: January 26, 2019, 03:43:41 AM
We've been able to do that even before this rule comes out. And even if there's no clear statement about Bitcoin, we will still be able to do it and the government will need serious time and effort if they want to stop P2P exchange.
-snip-
But they can't ban localbitcoin right so people will be still able to make bitcoin to fiat or vice versa until they can be able to find the sellers and buyers.
@joniboini
LBC is a regulated third-party platform (and later implemented KYC), thus, I cannot totally consider it as a P2P exchange.
@jrrsparkles
Bitcoin as a commodity doesn't mean that it can't be directly traded with fiat. Actually, it's the exact opposite, it can be legally traded through any legal means.
What's being banned is purchasing goods, paying your bills or services using bitcoins, but that can be easily covered by third-party payment processors by indirectly converting Bitcoins into fiat to pay their listed payment options.
5294  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Ridiculously large fake volume on FinexBox on: January 25, 2019, 10:12:49 AM
If we're being fair here, I think most of the exchanges do some kind of manipulation regardless of how big they are, maybe not as obvious as this but still.
Sure, many other bigger exchanges fakes trading volume.
Seriously?! Like Binance or Kraken, tho I won't be surprised if it was Bitfinex.
It would be great if you can show us some proof or even a constructively written assumptions regarding fake volume manipulations by large exchanges.
Because if they do, they're doing and hiding a serious legal issue.

With that being said, I don't understand why people take the choice of using unknown exchanges instead of going with something that has been here for years. It's like begging to get your money stolen.
If I can recall correctly, FinerBox doesn't require KYC to withdraw and obviously, easy Wash and Dry smells good for others.
You know what I mean.
5295  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: When did Electrum Wallet Originated? on: January 25, 2019, 03:23:37 AM
-snip-
Also those ppl that bought btc like around that time or before it, was the exchanges the most popular place to keep btc?  Then electrum was pretty close up there?  What other wallets were available similar to electrum at the time?
Actually, Bitcoin Full Node (Bitcoin Cli, now Bitcoin Core) at that time (2011-12) is the best way to store bitcoins since the Blockchain isn't that huge to be a problem for most (geek, technical or fan-base) users.
But mostly all late-comers (including me) were using bitcoins in online "game/gambling" that offers free bitcoins via faucets and didn't even cared about its value at that time, it's something like this: you can play games for free/low-cost using a new/unknown digital cash.
Most bitcoins were stored (or forgotten) in those High/Lo & Faucet sites.[/2011]

About other available clients, I'm not qualified to answer since I started trading Crypto a year before I joined BCT (not too late before the big HYPE).

Also was security with electrum pretty good back then when it came out?
Not sure but, Electrum's security today isn't really that reliable since it requires a third-party host/node.
That's why they've added the newbie-friendly 2FA option with additional cost in exchange for security in 2015(?), or anyone can set-up his own 99% safe cold-storage wallet.
5296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is this a wallet tracking method? receiving 0.00000546 every few days on: January 25, 2019, 02:54:25 AM
That's what this is then!

It's on a chain from that electrum hacker:
Another big possibility is: it could be an investigation attempt (by police or private) to find the culprit.
I've seen multiple thread reports regarding that Electrum hacking incident and been contacted via PM with replies to my post(s). One particular person said that police had successfully uncover some leads using the info.
Apparently, doing such thing can possibly uncover most of the hacker's addresses and check where the funds are stored.

An attack or not, I'm pretty sure that it was a deanonymizing dust attack.

5298  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: help creating watch only wallet from a multisig wallet on: January 24, 2019, 10:57:56 AM
Easy, you just need to know the xpub key of all the cosigners to create a watch-only multisig wallet.
XPUB or Master Public Key starts with "xpub";
example: xpub661MyMwAqRbcGuKyz9sJMYEKaJfkL9izJkh7jHakA9ZEEwYgmXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX.

Here are the steps:
  • 1. New/Restore->Select "Multi-signature Wallet"
  • 2. Pick the number of cosigners and required signature(s) based on the main wallet (must be the same)
  • 3. Select "use Master Key"
  • 4. Paste Cosigner1's xpub key (Master Public Key) click next, then next again.
  • 5. Select "Enter Cosigner key" and paste the xpub of the the second cosigner.

Continue steps depending on the number of consignees.
5299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS Prime Z270-A Help on: January 24, 2019, 05:20:54 AM
already done....BIOS are updated per several youtube videos
-snip-
Just test it with one card installed in that problematic PCI-e slot.
If it didn't work either, chances that it isn't the BIOS nor the OS is high, one busted/defective PCI-e slot isn't really news.

BTW, you'll only needing the SLI bridge if you're using the board for Gaming and other Graphic-intensive Applications.
5300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Should I mine Grin coin ? Please enlightened me. on: January 24, 2019, 03:18:04 AM
Hey, look at this thread from the Meta Board (by theymos himself): grin is now accepted for forum payments

If you read the post, you'll understand that our admin endorses it and apparently, there's a really high chance that it will be successful after a few months of liquidity (since there's only a few exchange had listed Grin).
As far as I know, there's one (can't say successful) coin that was endorsed by him that was pumped a lot and made some millionaires.
This will surely be the case to Grin on the first few months/year of release, but will not reach as high as Bitcoin's price due to its design (flaws?).

Personally, it's worth the time and money to mine a few before everyone join the inevitable bandwagon hype.

Well I'm not mining it to hold it anyway. Most projects are overhyped anyway, but it's always nice to get something different to mine.
Right, and if you're into trading.... you know that "overhyped" is a very good sign.
