I have a neighbor who won a lottery, friends who won a one-time jackpot, etc., and they move on with their life, with their winning prize, of course, without any problem. I consider these stories a success. I wouldn't call that success but a stroke of luck. A successful gambler is someone who is able to predict the outcome of a match for example based on the info he has. Except for sports betting, is it possible to predict the outcome? Casino games like dice, roulette, hi-lo, etc., are pure luck-based games IMO. I consider them success because humans tend to be greedy and have a biased expectation about luck. They could gamble again and lost, but they get out and continue with their happy life. However, I agree for sports betting, with the correct analysis and a bit of luck, you can be successful. |

Agree that market sentiment is good at the moment, but IMO it is nowhere near 2017 crazy bull run. 2020 halving also plays a vital role in this bullish sentiment. However, traders should be cautious because of tether-bitfinex scandal and stricter KYC/AML policy. We have seen the two biggest tumblers closed because of this issue.
Related to hashrate, I don't think it is a good indicator of price. It's like playing cat and mouse game.
After one and a half year of the bear market, it is about the time to rebound. *Not investment advice, only my opinion.

IMO the purpose of a forum is to have a meaningful discussion. Many high-ranked members banned, does not mean the community should replace those members ASAP. Thus, decaying sMerit and ban fiesta is not relevant.
Related to sMerit, I don't think decaying is going to be beneficial for the forum because it really takes a lot of time to find useful posts while participating in discussions. Well maybe if it takes one year or more to decay, then I think it's okay.

As others have pointed out, the cost for mining is not only about electricity, but also network, hardware, warehouse, etc. If you feel that the BTC transaction fee is so expensive lately, that's because of "network congestion." You might want to use SegWit wallet to reduce fee, or simply use LN for micro/mini payments. Don't buy a cup of coffee with on-chain BTC transaction.
