5281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ask]Just Opinion Miners Vs Bounty on: August 15, 2018, 11:08:43 PM
-snip-

so why you choose bounty and why you choose mining?
The answer is quite simple. For mining, you will have to invest a lot of money. You will have to spend maintenance fee and you might not be making profit on the short run. And if your equipment goes down, so does your investment together. So people, you wants to make some quick profit, without spending any cash opts in for bounty rewards.
5282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altcoin prices? on: August 15, 2018, 10:08:51 PM
Several reasons. Prices of altcoin (i am not talking about top altcoins) never goes higher in the shortrun unless there is an even that is taking place which benefits the crypto market. The event encourages the price to rise since people starts to invest on different altcoin as much as possible. Now, the main reason why altcoin price drops when the price of bitcoin rises is because, people sell off their altcoin to get those bitcoin. Thus dumping of altcoins causes the price to fall and buying those bitcoin causes the price of bitcoin to rise.
5283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin impracticable payment. What is the solution? on: August 15, 2018, 09:41:05 PM
Right now if you want to buy a pizza with Bitcoin, you will have some problems, the delay it will take and the fees will make it impossible.

https://lightning.network

This seems to be a solution. What is your though about this? Is this going to be as secured and anonymous? Where are the source of this technology?
Lightning network is a solution but how secure is it? To general people it might seem like a normal integration with blockchain, but do keep in mind that the transaction takes place off the blockchain! The lightning network does not have the same trust guarantee like the main bitcoin blockchain. And do keep in mind that the lightning network do need somewhat of central authority to work.
5284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Truth about altcoins on: August 15, 2018, 09:28:59 PM
I think it is a mistake to invest the hard earned money of an individual in something unknown, simply by seeing what happens next. That has a name and is called "bet". And maybe that way of dealing with opportunities is the difference between a true investor and a gambler.

Actually I have no problem with that, because everyone has the freedom to decide how they spend their money, however I do not think it is suitable advice for those who approach this forum looking for some investment guide (which in fact, bitcointalk never has been characterized by the precision of those who usually predict the behavior of the market).  Grin Grin Grin
It is not a "bet" or "gambling" if you know the outcome. Now this depends on two factor. If the coin is renowned and has huge user volume, the  price will recover and reach higher price than it was before the dip. This is because if you look at charts you will see that in the long run, the price of the coins tends to go up. On other hand, if it is a random shit coin, well it totally depends on how lucky or unlucky you are.
5285  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can you make money when the market drops? on: August 15, 2018, 09:18:38 PM
You actually can make the most out the market when the price starts to drop. This is during this time where you can maximize your profit. When you start to see the falling of the price, prepare yourself to invest small amount of money on coins that are well known and trending. As the price falls down further, start increasing your investment. The more it dips, the more you invest. As soon as you see slight rise in price, start selling and the higher the price starts to go, the "lower" you will be selling.
5286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bitcointalk vs moonforum on: August 11, 2018, 04:06:16 PM
hi guys today i come to know about there is another cryptocurrency forum launched called moonforum https://www.moonforum.net
i found a bounty thread of MOBU https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4795544 which launched signature campaign for moonforum.

do you thing mf can be an alternate for bitcointalk or bkt will beat it
One old, well known and reputed forum vs a brand new forum that no body has heard of. Who do you think is going to win? It obviously bitcointalk that will remain in top unless some disastrous event that will hurt the reputation of the forum occurs. The irony is that moonforum is using this forum to promote their forum which indirectly says that they admit this forum is well established and can help them to promote their platform.
5287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to choose a new coin on: August 11, 2018, 03:49:21 PM
There are too many coins to choose from. Now it depends on you and how much you are willing to risk. There are tons of worthless "new" coins out there. Due to sudden hype, the price skyrockets for a week and then the value goes down the drain. If you are willing to risk it and make some quick profit, then try investing on those for short term. But you should know that it is actually very risky and you will end up with nothing. For long term holding, try coins that are well known and trending on the market. Look at the market cap, supply and daily trade volume. It will help you get an idea of the future price.
5288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What happens to market ? on: August 11, 2018, 03:33:24 PM
The falling of the price happens every year and it is nothing new. Wait for the price to fall a bit more and get your investment ready. It will be the best time for you to invest when the price is falling. You will be able to make maximum profit off it. Just invest and hold it for a while. When the price drops enough, we will see more people starting to invest on the coins which will eventually cause the price to go back up and reach another new wall/barrier and then the drop will begin again. This cycle will continue forever. Just get used to it and don't panic.
5289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who controls the crypto market? on: August 11, 2018, 03:27:23 PM
I have been following the crypto scene for the past year and sometimes even though some companies do well their token price drastically goes down and this is the same with btc too. People like john mcafee and roger ver are always talking about how we should get ready for the bullish market but yet the price keeps on decreasing and so i'm asking how and who controls the price. If there is anyone who might be running it?
No single authority controls the market. You shouldn't forget that crypto currency is a decentralized market. All the price are decided by the people. The price rise and fall is also caused by people, not because of a single person. But, it is true that the market can be manipulated by the whales that controls huge amount of coins and/or has huge influence over people.
5290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 5 Ways to Avoid Bitcoin Scams on: August 11, 2018, 01:46:12 PM
All points you have mentioned are basic common sense. We should be aware of what is going on in the market and keep our self updated in order to avoid us being scammed. Suppose a coin turned out to be a scam coin. We will see people rushing over to dump their coins in order to reduce loss. People will tell lies and do anything to sell their coins to random victims. The main point is, if anything sounds too good to be true, then there is actually something very fishy going on!
5291  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why we will see $50k Bitcoin end of year on: August 11, 2018, 01:27:12 PM
Most of the speculations you hear are just some wild guess based on past trend. But do keep in mind that this is crypto currency which does not always follow the trend. The assumptions might end up being invalid. Why are we rushing to see the price going to the moon? Isn't it a bad thing if the price starts to rise without any proper reason to unexpected level? Wouldn't people start to criticize how unpredictable and volatile the market is? Do you remember how people started to say the price was a bubble and compared it with the tulip mania? We don't want that to happen again. A slow rise shows that the market is healthy. An abnormal rise is something we all want to avoid.
5292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Massive Cryptocurrency Botnet Scam Unearthed on Twitter on: August 11, 2018, 11:56:26 AM
Hackers are very much active to cheat the bounty hunters / ICOs .  Millions of fake twitter accounts have been infiltrated.  All efforts being done by hackers to spam the official twitter accounts of crypto business and impersonating crypto personalities.  More than 15000 exclusive hacker's accounts were traced by the agency involved in research.

Following is the link based on study and research by "Duo Security".  They took help of Application programming Interface to catch hackers from 88 million twitter accounts.
https://cryptoslate.com/massive-cryptocurrency-botnet-scam-unearthed-on-twitter/

As time goes by, these hackers will actually start to increase. What actually is scary that the number of botnet/hackers account found was just the once that are pure bot. Hybrid accounts that are half run by humans have been excluded. Hybrid accounts are more harder to spot and seems more legitimate. Sadly, new users will fall for their scams as they always hunt for giveaways which are the prime method for the hackers to hack the new users.
5293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust ICO Rating sites? on: August 11, 2018, 11:36:42 AM
They seem biased to me. A friend of mine who's doing an ICO told me that they paid 10ETH for 5 quality ratings and that's that! I noticed that some ICOs with good project, team, and good social media presence are struggling with getting good reviews.

With all that said, should it still be a factor to look at when investing in ICO?
It actually depends on what kind of site you are looking at. There are sites that actually get paid for getting good reviews. Again, there are sites that tends to write "bad review" or get paid to write a bad review if they have a conflict with some one and wants them not to succeed. But there are also sites that work independently. That is they do not take any payments from anyone. They just analyse the ICO and then gives their own opinion. They mainly depends on site traffic for revenue. Those are the sites that you should trust and keep an eye on.
5294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Negative Mind Will Never Give You A Positive Life on: August 11, 2018, 10:24:07 AM
Hi
I see so many users participating in many discussion on different topics related to crypto currency. some user want to know the best coin and ico to participate and some, is Crypto currency is safe investment for future. Friends if we look back in the past we had limited sources to participate and be a part of unique idea or concept across the borders , which was great potential to change the hole scenario of the related industry and world. Block chain emerged as one of the greatest inventions since the Internet exist , which connecting the people Financially across the border.Projects based on block chain technology has great potential to solves issue related to our global financial community and impacting all most sectors. who will stand with Block chain technology and Based good Concepts will generate huge profit in future. So Be Positive Like a Inventor, Simple its just a Starting only.
You are somewhat right. This is the negativity that is holding us totally behind. We should all keep in mind that bitcoin, crypto currency and even its technology, the blockchain is still on its infant stage. It is totally normal that there are various flaws with this technology, but if we work together, we can fix this flaw and create a better well developed technology. Showing hatred or negativity towards the technology won't be helping us in any way. It will just hamper the development.

Those are some great tips given on the site, but many of those are very obvious or known to us all. The best way to avoid getting phished is to google site before manually entering the site through url bar. You will highly likely get the real site from googles search engine or at least some information if that site is a scam. Secondly, make sure if you copy paste a link, make sure you are not a victim of clipboard malware. These virus usually end up changing what you have copied.
5296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying things with Bitcoin and transaction charges on crediting sellers wallet on: August 10, 2018, 11:05:05 PM
I have a question about buying things in stores with Bitcoin. Won't this(buying things with Bitcoin) make the price of items cost more? I mean for instance, if you are buying something that costs $50 and you have to transfer the worth in Bitcoin with a charge of maybe $0.50 which makes the items cost more unlike buying with cash. Is something being done to prevent this? Because it will discourage people from buying things with Bitcoin if the charges are being considered by users.
There are transaction fees you need to pay when using bitcoin. But the fee is actually very small right now and quite negligible. And honestly speaking, it is totally worth paying the fee. Think how inconvenient it would have been to collect stack of cashes when trying to buy something big. Instead of carrying bundle of cashes you can just easily pay from your phone using bitcoin and paying a relatively very small amount of fee.
5297  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: xbtfreelancer.com registration closed ? on: August 10, 2018, 10:52:24 PM
I really would like to join to xbtfreelancer.com ,however I get no reply from them.I sent a few already

I got a message "We are sorry but we are not accepting sign-ups at this time."

Is this site working or I am just dreaming about it ?

Cheers !
They probably closed up signups due to having unexpected large amount of users and is not ready to handle more yet. Not sure though, since i never heard about that site. You probably should wait until registration reopens or check if you can join by getting an invitation from someone who already has an account. Or try mailing the administrator once again and request for a special access to create an account. Just show them how desperate you are and how much you would appreciate if they allowed you to create an account.
Ok it might be the solution. How does escrow work in this case ? How can I trust in those fellas that they have what it takes to do that project ? Is there any review or feedback system which is not that manipulated ? Who will judge if the project wasn't done as it was asked or at all ?
That is why I would still go with xbtfreelancer. It's somewhat self evident there.
You will have to look for a reputed escrow who will act as a middle man between you two. They also have some kind of fee depending on the escrow you selected. Sometimes it ends up being quite a hassle if misunderstanding takes place.
5298  Economy / Economics / Re: Tax on the crypto currency! What do you think? on: August 10, 2018, 03:02:54 PM
In the US, the since bitcoin and other crypto currency does not have any legal tender status that is, it is not considered as a legal currency in any jurisdiction, the Internal Revenue Service considers all crypto currencies as a property owned and is subject to taxation based on that consideration. Thus people holding and trading crypto currencies are to pay capital gains and income tax.
5299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some people say Bitcoin and Crypto will disappear from the market, is it really? on: August 10, 2018, 02:54:43 PM
As long as the use of bitcoin and crypto is increasing. Different country and company are constantly bringing new crypto currency to the market. Statistics show that the amount of investment is increasing in the crypto sector. Some banks are already accepting Bitcoin payments. Bitcoin is being used in most countries of the world and there are no restrictions on the use of Bitcoin in those countries. Bitcoins are being accepted on various online sites. Since the discovery of Bitcoin, nearly 2000 more cryptos have come to the market.

Despite the so-called bright future in Bitcoin and Crypto, why do many say that all the cryptos will disappear from market?
Are you talking about the future? Lol! Most of the thing you mentioned are actually the opposite. No companies are creating their own crypto currency. Where did you get that information from? It is true that the amount of people investing on crypto currency has increased, but this is for pure profit purpose. They cash out their profits in fiat once they reach their goal. Which bank are you talking about? I haven't heard of any bank that actually accepts bitcoin. And I hope bank never gets involved here. One more thing, the use of bitcoin is being restricted more day by day due to stupid regulations that are taking place.
5300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling- Believe in Strategy or Luck on: August 09, 2018, 09:17:13 PM
Gambling is relay with both these things. Strategy and Luck.

Here I want to know which one is best in your belief. Please share your thoughts guys.

I believe in betting we can work around with tactics and it will be best option to make money out with gambling.

For dice roll, slot roll and poker games we definetely need the luck as a main factor.
Gambling totally depends on luck. There is no such thing as strategy in gambling ( expect few card games where a little bit skill/strategy is required ). That is why games such as dice, roulette, pingo etc are known as games of chances. Though you may help reduce your loss ( i am saying loss because in the long run it is the house that always wins ) a bit by using some tactics, but rest strategy are just gamblers falacy.
