5281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet Password on: November 30, 2020, 11:05:22 PM
Yes i have the old install on the external HD, also the walet.dat file is in there, i have a copy of the old wallet.dat file on 3 USB pens as well all encrypted.

If you still have an old backup copy just make a new copy(for safety) and make sure not to touch the original only use the wallet .dat copy and move it to your Bitcoin core wallet folder.

After that, you can reopen the Bitcoin core and change the password but before you change the password try to input the password into notepad first to check if the password is correct then copy and paste it to the Bitcoin core.

Be sure to remember the password because I had previous experience that I thought I had my password in mind but I forgot I added a few characters from my password.
So maybe you forgot that you added some characters at the end in your password?
5282  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Best Software Bitcoin Wallet [IYO] on: November 30, 2020, 10:13:58 PM
Bitcoin core should be one of the best Bitcoin wallets but the only problem is you will need to sync or download the blockchains, unlike the other wallets.
That's why I end up using Electrum which is a lite version of Bitcoin Core and I also using wasabi. Both wallets have Segwit support, coin control, and have unique security features but still, it depends on how you protect your wallet from any attacks.

Adding this below, it may be useful to other people who seek for complete wallet comparison. Just found it when I search on Google so credit to Veriphi and Google.

5283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: very new! will pay for an answer!! need help with a transaction from a coinbase! on: November 30, 2020, 09:22:06 PM
yes coinbase gave me the address

You might just be confused between BTC and BCH because they use the same name Bitcoin and Bitcoin cash. You don't know that Bitcoin cash is a fork version of Bitcoin.

It seems there's no way to recover it according to this.

if you send BTC to a BCH wallet address, these funds will not be recoverable

You can call them directly through this US number: +1 (888) 908-7930

Next time learn how to use Coinbase and always double-check the address if it correct or not and read this below.

5284  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Whatsminer M3 | Zombie or uninterrumpible sleep on: November 30, 2020, 08:41:08 PM
I can't access the images above can you paste logs in pastebin.com and paste the URL here.
Then about for screenshot upload it to imgur.com and post the link here.

Anyway, can you access the IP of the miner through the browser? if not then try to access the IP with a mobile phone. If it works maybe your PC/Laptop has a firewall restriction because I heard before that someone can't access or find the IP of their miner using Whatsminertool but it solved after they disable the firewall. So try to disable the firewall from your PC/Laptop.

5286  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinPayments.net $75k+ processing error on: November 28, 2020, 11:25:10 PM
There are some users here on the forum who experienced some issues from coinpayments but it's never been solved.

I don't know if you can still fix the issue but the last time that I use their service when they decide to end support for EU countries.

Try to contact them from their social media accounts.
- https://twitter.com/CoinPaymentsNET
- https://www.facebook.com/CoinPayments
- https://t.me/coinpaymentsinc

That's why I stop using their service is due to restrictions in EU countries plus many scam accusations against them. So I don't think if you can still solve your issue but keep trying to contact them through their social accounts.

Next time don't use their service if you are looking for another payment gateway check for BTCpayserver and Blockonomics.
5287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can I Download The Blockchain Outside Of Bitcoin Core? on: November 27, 2020, 08:42:09 PM
There was another way to speed up the download of blockchains is to upgrade to SSD and increase ram.
It would help to speed up the syncing process but if you don't have SSD but you have a large ram memory in your system you can optimize the syncing by editing the Bitcoin.conf file and add "-dbcache=".

The value always depends on your ram memory so if you have 8GB memory you should set it to -dbcache=4096 times two if you have 16GB of memory.
You can get a huge improvement if you have SSD so without increasing the ram the syncing process is much faster than HDD.

~snip~

I think downloading the blocks directly will still need to rescan and reindex that may also take a long time before you can able to use the wallet properly.
5288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining miners not mining on: November 27, 2020, 07:36:48 PM
This miner is too old but I heard that gridseed miners have some bugs like "no hashrate" or it doesn't show any "reported shares". It's a known bug according to them.

Have you tried to check them directly on the pool if it's mining or not?

Read this post

- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=494625.msg5686286;topicseen#msg5686286

Then according to this one post below you need to make sure that you installed the STMmicroelectronics virtual comm port driver. CPU miner won't work without it.

5289  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Oh No! Not Another Armory Not Online Story - Tried to Make Mine Painless 4U on: November 27, 2020, 06:09:06 PM
Yes, I had check this before when I was searching the forums but I double checked again and Bitcoin Core is definitely NOT in pruned mode.

I opened the bitcoin.conf on windows 10 with the notepad text editor and the file shows that there is nothing inside.

Ok, let's try to fix the errors below first.

Code:
2020-11-25 19:23:41 (ERROR) -- BDM.pyc:268 - setSatoshiDir: directory does not exist: C:\Users\cd110\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin
2020-11-25 19:23:43 (ERROR) -- BDM.pyc:197 - DB error: C:\Users\****\AppData\Roaming/Bitcoin/blocks is not a valid path

Can you edit the armoryqt.conf just like what you did above.

Something like this
Code:
satoshi-datadir="F:\Programs\Bitcoin\blocks"
dbdir="F:\Programs\ArmoryDB"

Make sure the directory is correct so before you put this check them manually if these are the correct folder path for blocks and ArmoryDB.

Save them then restart everything or restart the whole PC to make the setting take effect.

5290  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin Transactioin Time on: November 27, 2020, 05:12:45 PM
exactly i don't paid any fees, I am currently trying to understand the working of crypto. Therefore, I deposited only almost $5 without any fees.

What wallet you currently using before you sent Bitcoin to Binance?

Mostly no transaction fees will always be rejected to the network unless if you pay 1 sat/byte above and the network today is pretty congested it may take too long before your transaction confirms.

If you can tell us more about the wallet you use maybe the fees are already included because I think some wallet doesn't require fees if you bought BTC directly from them.
Or if your wallet is a non-custodial wallet you can increase the transaction fee if you want the transaction to be confirmed in the next few blocks.
The recommended fee today is 80+ sat/byte.
5291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core does not show wallet.dat ballance on: November 26, 2020, 11:29:51 PM
Can you clarify this
~snip~
I know my key, I have the file, I know the address of my wallet. What is the best way to recover them? Thank you

If you have the private key to that address you can just import it to any wallet that supports private keys like Electrum.

If you mean about the key as a password? Then the suggestion above will work but if you can still access the console without the error if you can't access then I think you will need to disable the pruned mode and let it sync. While syncing you can go to console and dump private keys.
5292  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin Transactioin Time on: November 26, 2020, 10:40:43 PM
Are you trying to deposit Bitcoin to Binance?

If yes then your transaction might be still unconfirmed due to low fees and network congestion.

Can you post the transaction ID here so that we can analyze if the transaction still unconfirmed and maybe we can give you some suggestions to fix your issue?
5293  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Oh No! Not Another Armory Not Online Story - Tried to Make Mine Painless 4U on: November 26, 2020, 09:25:09 PM
Are you running Bitcoin core in pruned mode? Armory won't work if the Bitcoin core is running in pruned mode.

Check the settings of the bitcoin core or check the bitcoin.conf if you see something like "prune=" remove it and save.

This thread below has the same issue as yours and I think it would be better if you follow the other suggestions from this thread.

5294  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What is the "amount" and "balance"? on: November 26, 2020, 09:02:41 PM

How and why would and attacker reverse the transaction. By "reverse" I'm assuming you mean back to the sender.

By making double-spend transactions.
However, I never heard someone succeed in reversing a transaction with 1 confirmation but I heard mostly unconfirmed transactions can be easily reverse by using the same input and increasing the fee.

That's why exchanges or any shops online that accept bitcoins is waiting for 3-5 confirmations to make sure the transaction won't reverse back.

Read more about double-spend here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-spending

Are you sure that your core is not running at pruned mode?

Check the bitcoin.conf file under your bitcoin directory and look something like "prune=" remove them then save and restart the core and let it sync again.

If it's not running at pruned mode then try to delete the database folder.

Here's the folder location:
Code:
 "~/Armory/databases" on Windows
 "~/.armory/databases" on Linux
 "~/Library/Application Support/Armory/databases" on OSX

Then do the rebuild and rescan again.

If the issue still the same then you might need to run the armory with a custom directory for both datadir and dbdir.
Read this https://btcarmory.com/docs/pathing#armoryqt if how to run armory with custom path/directory.

And read this the same issue as yours and he fixed the issue by removing "prune=" and adding "server=1" on bitcoin.conf

5296  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Marketplace connecting coins to wallet on: November 23, 2020, 09:49:04 PM
I don't have any idea how to set up this script if I have the script maybe I could help but since you bought this why not ask the seller how to set up it.

According to your image, it seems it was developed by Eckmar, and the script called "Eckmar's Marketplace Script" am I right?
And the image shows some samples it seems that the host, port and username, and password must be your nodes IP where your wallet is installed and must be fully synced(Like the above said if it was in the same server then use the local IP).

The full guide was pasted from here https://pastebin.pl/view/422aae0d

Why not ask Eckmar for help to set up this he is still active here on the forum and bring this on their official thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5124640.0
5297  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin exchange on: November 23, 2020, 08:42:31 PM
That's a scam no one will use this exchange to sell Bitcoin.

Look:

Code:
Domain:hiribi.org
Registrar:NameCheap, Inc.
Registered On:2020-11-10
Expires On:2021-11-10
Status:serverTransferProhibited
Name Servers:dns1.registrar-servers.com
dns2.registrar-servers.com

It's so risky to deal with new domains and they always keep popping up everywhere these days due to the price increase.

And look at their offer "21876.26 USD/btc" with "Get extra $ 3493.02  by selling your BTC now!" which is obvious no one will give you such big free money by just selling bitcoin.

If you just found this from social media sites or it was shared by your friend be careful because it's 100% scam.

But I noticed that owner of this domain is doing blackhat SEO due to massive backlinks in just a few days?

If you are not the owner of this website I suggest you remove the hyperlink or domain above.
5298  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which DEX Do You Trade On? on: November 23, 2020, 08:28:51 PM
I've been playing around with DEX's as of lately. Recently noticed I can't trade BTC or any other coins on the majority of the DEX's out there, unless I trade "wrapped" assets, which is pretty counter productive in my world.

Played around with Blocknet's DEX platform, but found it annoying to download each chain in order to connect to their DEX, they are however implementing it into a multi currency wallet for faster, and more convenient trading, especially for newbies, which is pretty cool I guess. Looks like this: https://xlitewallet.com/

What else do you guys recommend? I do trade on centralized exchanges every once in awhile, but I fear exchange hacks, and want to remain safe at all times.

Thanks for your help!  Smiley

Why would you use a wallet like xlitewallet which is you don't know safe?

Look at the whois:

Code:
Domain:xlitewallet.com
Registrar:NameCheap, Inc.
Registered On:2020-08-30
Expires On:2021-08-30
Updated On:2020-09-04
Status:clientTransferProhibited
Name Servers:dns1.namecheaphosting.com
dns2.namecheaphosting.com

The newly registered domain is always not safe and how did you found this site?

If you are looking for safe exchanges I suggest you try Binance Dex and uniswap.

Other Dex exchanges can be found here https://www.coingecko.com/en/dex

If you are looking for an alternative wallet to save all coins I think Coinomi is the best option or use a hardware wallet like ledger nano.
5299  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Yobit.in is Legit????????????????? on: November 22, 2020, 11:54:30 PM
no i actually dont send them anything apart my KYC passport. i mean hopeful they are still normal humans and dont sell my pass.

starnge , hopefully they will give me my btc hahahha =))))

Don't expect too much there is no exchange that will give you 1 BTC for $300 and there is no exchange that will ask for the first payment before you are able to withdraw your BTC.
Most of the scam exchange is always ask for the first deposit but even you pay them you can't be able to withdraw.

The bad part they still have your passport that they can use anytime for scamming purposes or anything that they can make money.
Next time don't use the newly registered domain and always research first and ask here on the forum before you use them.
5300  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to get fee rate in KB on: November 22, 2020, 11:01:55 PM
So you mean you want it to make it fix to 3k sat and remove 147?
I don't understand but I think you can't be able to do that you only have two commands for "getfeerate" command that you can add

Here are two commands you can add for "getfeerate" command.

--fee_method
--fee_level

Sample command with result:

Code:
$ ./electrum getfeerate
26000
$ ./electrum getfeerate --fee_method "static" --fee_level 0.1
10000
$ ./electrum getfeerate --fee_method "static" --fee_level 0.4
50000
$ ./electrum getfeerate --fee_method "static" --fee_level 0.8
150000
$ ./electrum getfeerate --fee_method "eta" --fee_level 0.1
1081
$ ./electrum getfeerate --fee_method "eta" --fee_level 0.4
10705
$ ./electrum getfeerate --fee_method "eta" --fee_level 0.8
21190
$ ./electrum getfeerate --fee_method "mempool" --fee_level 0.1
1000
$ ./electrum getfeerate --fee_method "mempool" --fee_level 0.4
1000
$ ./electrum getfeerate --fee_method "mempool" --fee_level 0.8
20000
