5281  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Now I'm awarding aMerits for old posts on: July 30, 2018, 12:24:37 AM
Maybe I should stop wasting time hunting for posts, and just award them for my various projects, and posts that I happen to come across whilst I am reading interesting threads.
Sadly, it isn't much easier when you wait for the good posts to appear on your screen... Undecided

I've tried actively looking for posts by opening threads I honestly have no interest in, just to see if there is anything merit worthy... I've tried stalking other users "Post your links for sMerit consideration" threads (like this one). I've occasionally tried branching out into other boards that I don't generally read to see if there is anything useful being posted there.

The end result, is I still have 100 sMerits... and I can't seem to find a good home for them. Maybe I'm too "picky"... but I genuinely don't want to give merit out just for the sake of giving merit. I want to reward users who are contributing in a meaningful way and whom I consider to be an asset to this forum.

Ok, to be honest I am still pondering the relevance ofbthat to this thread. Does anyone know, apart from it being spammy or are we having a belated anniversary for Michael?
It's the classic MJ "eating popcorn while enjoying the show" animated gif...

Basically, "Gyrsur" has been trolling Darkstar_ and the chipmixer campaign for quite a while now... it all started when he theorised that Darkstar_ might be enrolling alts in the campaign because he could not understand why certain users were chosen over others to participate in the campaign.

He's had a chip on his shoulder ever since (if you'll excuse the pun)...

Thekool1s, is obviously enjoying the banter... and the popcorn Wink

I suspect you are looking in the "C:\Program Files\Armory" directory... and not the armory data files...

Are you definitely looking in "C:\Users\[YourPCUserName]\AppData\Roaming\Armory"?

You should see something like:

5287  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My bitcoins disappeared after reopening Electrum (3.0.6) on: July 29, 2018, 08:08:11 AM
I can not use the seed option, no password wallet and that option disabled, it's watching only wallet.
Only the "watch-only" wallet has no coin, but the other two wallet has and still have it.
In my mind, it's looks like Electrum bug, the private keys was imported to the watch only wallet, and after the shutdown wasn't saved. It worked always, hundreds of times.
You keep talking about private keys and a "watching-only" wallet... These two things are mutually exclusive!!?!

This last statement: "the private keys was imported to the watch only wallet" is actually impossible. Electrum will NOT allow you to import a private key into a watching-only wallet... just like it won't let you import a private key into a "standard" wallet that was created with a seed.

The ONLY wallet type you can import a WIF private key into is an "imported" wallet.

Yesterday i imported few private keys (what i deleted after i imported because always was fine), and 0.203 btc shown up in my wallet. Today i restarted my computer, and after that my issue comes: I have 3 wallet, and 2 of them working well, coins still there. The third one, shows all transaction history, but no bitcoins.
You say you have THREE wallets... which wallet did you import the private keys into? Or did you import some keys in wallet1, some into wallet2 and some into wallet3? or did you try and import ALL the key into ALL the wallets? Huh
5288  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Cold storage signing - Error: Server did not answer on: July 29, 2018, 07:24:47 AM
Edit, I am using multisig when I received the error.
I created a test single signature wallet, and offline signing worked just fine....hmmm.
Any advice how to do multisig in an offline, cold storage environment?
Is there any chance that the "error" is being generated by the "co-signer pool" plugin? Huh ie. it is trying to send the "partially signed" transaction to the pool for signing by co-signers, but obviously fails because it is an offline, airgapped machine.

Is that plugin enabled by default on all MultiSig wallets? or does the user have to explicitly enable it? Huh
5289  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Problem with Ledger Nano S - "Device will run in unsafe mode" - HELP! on: July 29, 2018, 07:21:55 AM
Can't say I've heard of that before.

However, from what I've read of the security added to prevent the issues that were highlighted by Saleem Rashid earlier this year, there is only a limited time period for the device to complete it's self-checks. If it doesn't complete within the specified time frame, it will show as "non-genuine". The theory being that any extra work that a malicious firmware needs to do to try and fool the checks would take too long and it will fail.

So, it's possible that the first time you did it... the device was just a bit slow and the "timing" protection kicked in and that is why you had the "Not Genuine" message displayed. Whereas, when you replugged it, it was fine.

Maybe contact Ledger support and ask them?

But, if it were me...  I would wipe the device, reflash the firmware using the Ledger Manager and then re-setup the device using the recovery seed.

2 open spots.
please can you comment why 2 new open slots shortly after this answer to an user?

2 old members kicked? and why they are kicked?
Most likely because it was the end of current cycle... and after checking the posts decided to either open 2 more slots, or kick a couple of non-performers for either low-quality or not posting etc.

Also, try checking the spreadsheet, he usually lists reasons there: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17P52DifaD7YfvzLkX3wrxGVpKcaPHY4y57ZpI-FK754/edit?usp=sharing

Copy/Paste your log file using pastebin.com... then post the unique URL that it creates when you save it. That might make it easier to see if anything else is causing the issue.
5292  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: How to send my bitcoins to another wallet? on: July 29, 2018, 06:21:31 AM
and what of mine?

Your solution to:
Open electrum, click on new wallet> standard wallet> i have seed> put the armory seed> click options, tick bip39> click next and the coins should show up.
will never work. Armory does not use BIP39 compatible seed mnemonics... in fact, it doesn't even really used seed mnemonics at all. It has a proprietary "root key" system, that functions a bit like a seed mnemonic but consists of just random characters, not words, and is not BIP39 compatible.

He also asked for clarification of your 2nd solution (which was somewhat incomplete) to which you never responded. Roll Eyes
5293  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Re: PLEASE Backup your wallet! A Paper Backup is *Forever*! on: July 29, 2018, 06:12:05 AM
Hello.  Just downloaded the latest Armory as of 7/28/18 for Windows.
Where did you download this "latest Armory" from? And what is the version number shown?

If it is 0.96.4 and you got it here: https://btcarmory.com/ Then you have the latest version.

However, if it is only 0.96.0 and you got it here: https://www.bitcoinarmory.com/ then you do NOT have the latest version.

5294  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: update armory wallet 0.96 on: July 29, 2018, 06:10:54 AM
Just to confirm, you're using Windows (based on the .exe comment), if so, which version of Windows?... and have you have found the "AppData" folder? Huh

By default "AppData" is hidden, you will need to set Windows Explorer to "show hidden files and folders"

If you are using Windows 10, the Armory data directory will be something like: C:\Users\<YOURPCUSERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Armory

In there, you should find the "databases" folder... and armorylog.txt and dbLog.txt
5295  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Lost coins in Trezor! on: July 29, 2018, 02:49:52 AM
So to summarise the issue:

- Trezor got "wiped" during firmware upgrade, restored from seed, can only see transactions (wallets? Huh) up to October 2017.

The only reasons that I can think of for what the OP is experiencing is:

1. They somehow managed to use address(es) out past the default "Gap Limit" in Trezor. So, when restoring the wallet, the Trezor is not able to detect that these address have funds and therefore does not display them. (NOTE: This is more common with Ledger Nano S when people use the "sign message" functionality to manually select an address)

FIX: Connect the Trezor to Electrum (using "Hardware Device" option), and then manually generate 100 "receive" addresses and 100 "change" addresses and see if the funds show up.

2. The OP had multiple "accounts" created in their Trezor and for some reason Trezor hasn't restored them all.

FIX: You'll need to try adding new "accounts" to the Trezor wallet to see if that starts showing up your funds. If not, maybe use Electrum and restore wallets (using BIP39 option + your recovery seed) and manually select the derivation path for the extra accounts:
- m/44'/0'/1'
- m/44'/0'/2'
...
- m/44'/0'/n'

3. The OP actually had transactions on a different coin like BCH or BTG etc and hasn't restored those within the Trezor.

FIX: Check other "coins" within the Trezor wallet to see if they show the transactions you're looking for.
5296  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallet Survey - please support! on: July 29, 2018, 02:35:12 AM
So are we about to see a new hardware wallet on offer? Wink
Given the following from their website... I'd have to say "Yes" Tongue

Crypto Advance is currently developing a new USB Hardware Wallet with excellent security technology at its core combined with a clean, seamless, intuitive user experience backed by the expertise and experience of a leading global security manufacturer based in Germany.

That might throw up what I believe to be true: most people feel safer if a centralised service is storing their funds for them, so they can recover lost passwords etc.
Sadly, I have to agree with your assessment. A large percentage of people don't seem to want to take responsibility for their funds. It seems like the masses are not ready to "Be your own bank" Undecided

Instead, they seem more interested in making $1/day doing Twitter, Facebook and Telegram spam for ShitCoins™ Roll Eyes and being able to convert those earnings into fiat. I think that reflects more on humanity in general and how large the gap between the "haves" and the "have-nots" of the world really is, rather than any failure on behalf of Cryptocurrency.
5297  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [ TUTORIAL ] Run BITCOIN Server on VPS - BitcoinCLI and BitcoinD on: July 29, 2018, 12:22:17 AM
Could you make script for autorun bitcoin daemon after start VPS?
You can probably just use cron for this... it has settings that allow you to run commands after startup.

Also, given that a lot of VPS services charge based on the storage/bandwidth being used... running a Bitcoin Node on a VPS could get quite expensive given the current size of the blockchain Tongue
5298  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Skrill // BITCOIN DEPOSIT PENDING - OVER 24HRS on: July 29, 2018, 12:11:39 AM
No. If the transaction is already showing as confirmed, and you're 100% sure you have:

1. sent enough to cover the full deposit AND Fees (as per BitPay's system)
2. sent to the correct deposit address

Then, the only people who can help you are Skrill (and possibly BitPay).
5299  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: sweep open dime to nano s on: July 29, 2018, 12:06:59 AM
If you don't want to install another wallet, you can always just use a service like coinb.in to sweep the coins directly to a receive address from your Nano S: https://coinb.in/#newTransaction

However, that certainly isn't as "fool-proof" as using Electrum to sweep the coins... as you need to be able to calculate an appropriate fee taking into account current network conditions, whereas Electrum will do this for you. Also there are security considerations with using websites and private keys... not exactly a "big" deal if you're "sweeping" coins and will not be re-using the private key, but something to bear in mind.
5300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Beginner Issues on: July 28, 2018, 11:58:16 PM
I just saved it and it said "Note: this is an offline transaction, to send you need to broadcast it"
Do I need to broadcast the transaction or am I in OK shape, just gotta wait for the person to confirm? I would post a screen shot but iIdont have anywhere to host it.
You need to broadcast the transaction. If it is showing as an "offline transaction" (or local transaction) in your Electrum transaction history, then it has not left your computer yet... so it will never be added to the blockchain. If it just shows as "unconfirmed", then it has been broadcast, but not included in a block yet.

I'd suggest that you get the TransactionID (right click on the transaction in your transaction history and select "Details" or "view on blockexplorer") and check on a block explorer to see if the transaction is visible to anyone else.

If the blockexplorers come up with "unknown transaction", you will need to open the transaction and click the "broadcast" button.
