5301  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S balance suddenly double on: July 26, 2022, 10:58:13 AM
As for the problem with the balance, there are several examples on the forum that have encountered this problem, and the only positive thing is that the balance is always positively larger, which is far better than seeing at any time that you are missing 50% of what you have you had in your wallet.
How about seeing a 0 balance all of a sudden? Grin I had that happen to me a few years ago. Even though the glitch was only present for a few seconds and it happened while the software was synching with Ledger servers, you can imagine the feeling of suddenly seeing an empty portfolio. It's not for the faint of heart.
5302  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Backing Trust Wallet! on: July 26, 2022, 10:50:53 AM
Writing those 12 twelve seed phase down hmm ? And, also placing them somewhere safe right?
Make sure the seed phrase was written down correctly before you send any coins to an address generated from it. I have never used Trust Wallet, but they probably have some sort of safety mechanism where you have to enter your seed to verify it was written down correctly during the onboarding process. If not, it's a good idea to copy and save the first address your Trust Wallet generates and then recover the wallet from seed to ensure that the same receiving addresses are displayed after successful recovery. Some people even send a few satoshis just to see if they are recoverable. After that, you know you have the essentials to regain access to your coins if something happens.

Don't take any shortcuts and opt to store your seed digitally somewhere on your computer, phone, cloud, email, or similar environments.

If I may ask, what is the reason you decided to use Trust Wallet? Are you planning to store Bitcoin in it, altcoins, or a combination of both? Depending on your needs, we might suggest some better alternatives.
5303  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: +Invity on: July 26, 2022, 07:42:50 AM
I am not a Trezor user, but I think this partnership is something similar to what other hardware wallet manufacturers have done in the past, such as Ledger. Trezor probably takes a cut which makes the rates worse than what you would get exchanging/swapping directly on the platform in question. Then there is the similar claim that Trezor is using about remaining in custody of your coins throughout the process. More precisely, they call it "direct-to-custody trades". I am skeptical about that, the same way I was about Ledger's custody claims. Lastly, depending on the amount and maybe the taint level (ridiculous) of your coins, the exchange you use for the swap could ask you for KYC.

Was the balance wrong all over Ledger Live or just on the starting page when you first open it? How about the account overview when you click on the tab "Accounts"? Did LL display a wrong balance there as well for your Bitcoin accounts, with 0.2 BTC added to one of them? What about the USD value of your BTC holdings, was that affected as well? Sometimes it's just the crypto amount, other times it's the fiat value, and it can also be both.
5305  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet balance disappeared! on: July 26, 2022, 07:07:44 AM
I wonder if Ledger Live will also try to frozen our coins one day if FTX says so?
The better question is, does Ledger have a way to do that with a wallet that is non-custodial in nature? I don't think they do, otherwise we would have seen complaints with locked funds all over the place. Not just now after the Ledger-FTX partnership. I think it's the exchange that could lock funds, not Ledger. Even though they claim you never lose control and custody of your coins, it can't be true. The swap takes place on FTX, Ledger just holds your hand and shows you were to go during the process.

Depending on the regulator point of view, a withdraw from a casino or mixer might be considered "illegal activity".
Unfortunately, that's correct.

The purchase (P2P) confirmation had been sent to them at the begging. Its a bid over 7K usd
I think they are asking for KYC because of the amount. If it was a sum below $2.000, probably nothing would have happened.
5306  Other / Meta / Re: Forum advertising space for free signature/avatar advertisement on: July 26, 2022, 06:59:09 AM
I could always promote useful Open Source software that is connected with Bitcoin, and stuff related with improving privacy.
Even stuff that has nothing to do with Bitcoin could be on my radar, like KeePass, Librewolf browser, Tor browser, SearX, GrapheneOS, NewPipe, etc.
No argument there. Whatever is good for the crypto scene and/or improves the privacy and security of individuals can be taken into consideration. But like I mentioned earlier, I do wish that the projects or software we end up advertising find a way to give back to the Bitcointalk community. This might be a bigger challenge than finding enough people to wear signatures and avatars.
5307  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Keycard bypass on: July 25, 2022, 01:10:00 PM
Imagine you want to gain access ti your coins in 20 years and the hardware wallet is broken. Yes you can buy a different new one but you could also fix the broken part of the old one.
I don't think many people would know what is wrong with their device if they connect it and it's just dead. It's not like the hardware wallet will tell you: Hi, change my display to continue or my chip is fried, please buy a new one. The wallets would require a complete hardware changeover just to satisfy the needs of a minority of people who would be interested in experimenting with fixing the problems themselves. I don't see that happening.
5308  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet balance disappeared! on: July 25, 2022, 12:52:39 PM
I think the Exodus in-app exchange is ShapeShift, so probably they were the ones that froze your assets for some reason. According to this support article, they are also working with FTX. Having your assets blocked is unfortunately one of the dangers of using centralized exchange platforms.

Do your coins originate from some illegal activities maybe or can you think of a reason why they would ask who you are? Or maybe it's a significant sum which triggered their alarms.
Since they are in control of your crypto, you don't have any other choice than to do what they say and provide the documents they want. Sad
5309  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: BitBox Data Breach! on: July 25, 2022, 08:30:38 AM
Not again Angry
Luckily and hopefully, it's just newsletter subscribers and addresses and phone numbers were not stolen. They did get IP addresses and many of them were probably not masked in any way.

Interesting thing about the official Shiftcrypto announcement is them saying they "anonymize personal information after 30 days". So they are not deleting info about their clients, just removing identifiable information. It would be interesting to see what it is they do exactly and why not delete it all in the first place? Maybe they have backups and ways to restructure the anonymized data if government institutions ask them about it.
5310  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Altcoin novosti on: July 25, 2022, 07:56:41 AM
5311  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: July 25, 2022, 07:42:00 AM
Update:

Since Betja has mysteriously disappeared, deleted its website, and the Telegram support channel, I have removed them from my table. They are also no longer part of the List Of Crypto Casinos with The Best Faucets thread either. There are no active scam accusations against the site, but going offline without a warning or explanation has certainly resulted in many players having their coins stuck on the casino with no way to get to them anymore.
5312  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How can we easily view recent WabiSabi CoinJoins? on: July 25, 2022, 07:34:25 AM
So it does seem they have moved jurisdiction already. So if that's the case, why haven't they come out and said they are not going to censor their users? And why even announce the censorship in the first place, given that it is yet to be implemented? They could just have moved jurisdictions without saying anything.
Maybe the original decision was to start censoring certain transactions for reasons unknown to us. And as things were progressing, someone suggested why don't we move our business to a jurisdiction where this nonsense doesn't have to be implemented at all? Even though they are claiming that no one was forcing them to implement the censorship, I am pretty sure something was going on or they were warned that it would happen in the future. How else can you explain the sudden jurisdiction change around the same time when the taint nonsense began?

Bitcoin didn't crash because an altcoin failed. But the foundation that stood behind that altcoin (Luna Foundation Guard) sold off billion dollars worth of Bitcoin. That's the connection. The sell-off. The owner of those coins isn't important and it could have been someone else. But this time, it was the team behind Luna who sold 80.000 BTC. That of course triggered other holders to sell and we know the rest. Bad news coupled with panic and FUD and here we are.
5314  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mycelium Wallet Promoting Scam Bookies 1xbit.com on: July 25, 2022, 06:57:05 AM
I believe that 1xBit very easily buys those positive reviews on Trustpilot.
That is not something that surprises me. Bought and fake reviews have unfortunately become a normal thing these days. But the fact remains, if you are unaware of what 1xBit is from the many threads on this forum, and you just scratch the surface to see what comes out, you will get the feeling that 1xBit is a good casino with excellent ratings and many positive reviews. Even a search for "1xBit scam" shows casino reviews at the top of the results, where it's stated that the platform has its problems and some unresolved scam accusations, but overall, it's a great place to gamble. That's just the way things stand at the moment.
5315  Other / Meta / Re: What Would Be Your Reason to Leave Bitcointalk? on: July 25, 2022, 06:44:32 AM
Something that is not listed in the poll and has occurred to me in 2018, which is disappointment about Bitcoin or in lack of interest in general. After 2018's market crash, I was so disappointed that I abandoned Bitcoin and the forum altogether.
The crash that we are experiencing in the last month or two could be called equally disappointing, but you are still here. It's good that you changed and learned a few things. In fact, Bitcoin just had the worst month in its history when the coin lost 40% of its value within 30 days. But the BTC value doesn't change what Bitcoin is and what it is capable of doing.
5316  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal For naim027. on: July 24, 2022, 01:31:32 PM
Is this user causing more trouble than doing good?
Will the forum profit more if he/she is gone and can't post anymore, or if he/she stays?

There are many ways in which people can do good, which would then be beneficial to the forum. If the person will be missed in any way in which they contribute to Bitcointalk, the admins could consider a lighter sentence.
5317  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Educational: Breaking misconceptions about market crashs on: July 24, 2022, 01:07:06 PM
Yes, but markets stayed stable.
Relatively stable. Depending on how you look at it. Compared to what happened with the Terra situation, this didn't lead to such a crash. But if I remember correctly, bitcoin was trading at around $24k when it happened, and then the value dropped to $21-22k. Nothing dramatic but we are still looking at a difference of 8%.
5318  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Educational: Breaking misconceptions about market crashs on: July 24, 2022, 12:55:34 PM
As Bttzed03 mentioned, the Luna Foundation Guard owned over $3 billion worth of Bitcoin and several altcoins. But when Terra started crashing, they made the decision to sell almost all of their bitcoin collateral trying to stop the stablecoin from de-pegging further. That didn't work out and Terra is now art of crypto history.

Didn't Tesla also announce recently they sold almost $1 billion worth of bitcoin?
5319  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A concise guide to not getting "phished" on: July 24, 2022, 09:39:57 AM
I believe detecting the phishing site thing with hovering of the mouse on a link will work on PCs and desktops, not on phones; at least not on android phones.
Click and hold the link, your phone should display a menu similar to when you right-click on a link on a PC. On the top you will see the link, and among the options, you can copy the address and then paste it in your address bar in a new tab. There, it's easy to check where it goes.

I think pm also support hyperlink so be careful with the links provided in pm.
Yes, you can customize and code a message via PM like any other post on Bitcointalk. Hyperlinks, images, and everything else works just fine.
5320  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Bitcoin still remains the leading cryptocurrency in the world. on: July 24, 2022, 09:08:41 AM
It is known over years and now that Bitcoin is a mysterious and some kind of digital currency
There is nothing mysterious about Bitcoin. Everything is public and verifiable. Check it out yourself or read the opinions of those who have done so and have managed to gain great knowledge about how it works.

that is not well known
It's very well known. It's the most popular cryptocurrency in the world.

how come about and only the creators of it knows and control it
Are you one of those creators of Bitcoin who only knows about it? Think about how absurd that statement is. Bitcoin doesn't have centralized control. No government or institution has authority over it. They can pass laws to limit or ban it, but they can't stop the decentralized and censorship-resistant flow of data and value.

and is a supernatural creature and it like is an idea or vision of the creators to control the planet after God.
Sorry, but this is just stupid.
