5301  Economy / Reputation / [FLAG] Novaexhange.com on: September 26, 2019, 05:30:14 PM
My flag is against

who are owners or part owners of novaexchange.com who have announced they are closing and that users can only withdraw if they have verified via their KYC process.

I have tried multiple times to verify myself via their convoluted KYC process, however they at first ignored my comments, then simply said to email them which went un-responded.

Their official thread Nova Exchange [Archive] has had no response since the 18th of July when I posted that I could not verify myself via their KYC process.

I've seen comments that I am not the only one to be unable to verify via KYC, so I am left with no option other than to create a flag.

*edit*

A question came up in a seperate thread asking if you knew what their terms were, why did you still sign up (but not complete the KYC process) ? Well, on novaexchange's website they had tiers for signing up, tier one was user name (plus AFAIK email which gets verified) - you can sign in and view the trading floor, but can't trade.  Tier two you register (user name+email) and can then upload crypto and trade *but* you cannot withdraw unless you complete the KYC - most importantly, you are given 12 months from when you first register to complete the KYC process.

There are at least two emails that have been sent by nova to customers, unlike the website which has kept quiet about it, the email says (and I kid you not)

Quote
- Starting from October 28th until November 27th, there will be an equivalent to 0.0001 BTC custody fee charged at the time of the withdrawal request.

- Starting from November 28th until December 19th, there will be an equivalent to 0.005 BTC custody fee charged at the time of the withdrawal request.

- Starting from December 20th until January 27th, there will be an equivalent to 0.01 BTC custody fee charged at the time of the withdrawal request.

- From January 28th 2020 onwards the Nova website will be closed and users will have to get in touch with us to claim their assets.

- The custody fee will increase by 0.005 BTC every month on the 28th onwards.

Given they are dragging the chains to confirm people, until wouldn't you know it? You have to pay an additional fee to withdraw your coins...

novaexchange has varied the terms of use of their website, they should allow all users to withdraw our funds without charge especially given some of us are documented as having tried to complete their registration/KYC process and been unable to complete the process.

I would be interested to hear if novaexchange.com has sought a legal opinion as to whether or not their course of action would stand up to scrutiny in court.
5302  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Nova Exchange - Standard Cryptocurrency Exchange on: September 26, 2019, 05:01:25 PM
I have been repetedly unable to verify myself on Nova exchange and now this:

Quote
Dear Nova Trader

The Board of Directors of the parent company has decided to set a new course for Nova and reshape the value offer into a new crypto trading experience. This means that on Monday, October 7, trading on Nova Exchange will cease and close. At the same time the Nova API will be deactivated.

The Nova Exchange terms & conditions are terminated. New terms & conditions are announced and will come into effect automatically 30 days from today's date (September 26, 2019).
The most important part of this message is this:

This is purely a Business Decision.
    There has been no hack.
    There has been no fraud.
There has not been any wrongdoing of any kind whatsoever.
Nova Exchange will not assume responsibility for swaps or forks starting from today onwards.

Goobit Group, that owns Nova, also operates the well known Swedish bitcoin exchange service BTCX. Starting from 2012, our team is among the best and the most experienced in the world in dealing with crypto assets. Now, even if we can’t disclose our exciting plans today, we can tell you that Nova, in some form, will enrich and play a key role in shaping the crypto future for the masses, however not in the shape and form that you know today.
What happens now?

Obviously you, as a trader, are encouraged to withdraw your funds as soon as possible. Our team stands ready to help you get a smooth withdrawal process, however, the rules regarding identification (KYC), as stated in the terms of service that you have accepted when opening your account, must, and will, stand.
No identification - No withdrawal

It is as simple as that. Even though trading will close, we must comply with the law, and make sure that all funds end up with its rightful owner.

The Nova platform will be open for regular withdrawals for one month after this announcement; that is until October 25 at 23:59 (CEST). After that date there will be additional fees charged, and we can’t guarantee at what rate we can accommodate your requests. It might take up to 30 days, depending on the load. So please make your withdrawals at your earliest convenience and DO NOT deposit more funds in the now obsolete addresses that you have used in the past.

The Nova Team is very proud and grateful to have been of service to you and we are thrilled to come back with the new products we're currently building.
5303  Other / Meta / Re: Bumping changes on some boards on: September 25, 2019, 05:08:04 PM
To be fair, the Tokens board has so little bump power that zero-score threads start about halfway down the front page (sorted by last post). So apparently no one is interested in any of those shit tokens.

Yeah, you are right but still...they have someone bumping it otherwise it should have plunged at least to the bottom of the 1st page. But it's constantly being on top, 24hrs a day, and it's annoying.

The whole point of the Crypto revolution is to mine your own coins and use them in various markets, not to buy pre-mined tokens - that's what governments do - mint money.  Little wonder Tokens are so on the nose just about no one is prepared to waste bumps on them.
5304  Economy / Reputation / Re: Flag - "CryptoSparks" on: September 25, 2019, 04:50:21 PM
How many times do you I have to tell you that this isn't a court of law? Stop using terms like "innocent" and "guilty." Nobody here is thinking along those lines except for you. The fact stands you didn't even oppose the flag or try to work with theymos' new system. If you don't like it, cry to him about it, not us.

There's a certain irony in what you wrote above given you felt compelled to quote the affirmation a few posts earlier: (did you even read the affirmation?)

Your one defender in this thread didn't even bother to oppose the flag against you. Shows you how much support you actually have here.

The fact that more don't affirm the allegation, or reject the contention is more to do with one side or the other has not made a compelling enough case, rather than to say because they don't reject it, they some how must be de-facto supporting a measure (without actually clicking on the support button).

Yes it is actually a style of "court" because there is no outside arbitrator.

Time to put your pitch-fork down and extinguish that torch. (and stop feeding the Trolls)

9am in NZ (GMT+12) is...

7am in Australia GMT+10 (East Coast, which includes Brisbane)
5am in Singapore, China etc GMT+8
12:00am in Russia MSK (eg Moscow) GMT+3
9pm (previous day) in UK (eg London) GMT+0
5pm (previous day) in USA EDT (eg New York) GMT-4
2pm (previous day) in USA PDT (eg Los Angeles) GMT-7

Seems a strange time to schedule a meeting of international partners, since much of the world will be outside business hours at that time.

New Zealand is where Cryptopia was based, I guess it follows that the company running the show can also dictate terms.  Having said that, it could be a combination of things such as the number of traders in the USA Vs other parts of the world.  It could also be that traders will log in at various times (including midnight) given the global nature of the exchange.

Don't forget the Northern Hemisphere are observing daylight savings in many places, so some of those times may not be 100% correct - UK for example.

5307  Economy / Reputation / Re: Flag - dj6230 on: September 24, 2019, 05:44:02 AM
I hope this user wasn't able to deceive anyone into actually entering their seeds into that site.  It would be pretty cumbersome to track it if he did, since we would have to know which public keys were part of the HD wallets.

It looks like Timelord was able to connect dj6230 to another scammer account, funkydog three years ago.  The user funkydog has been banned for spreading fake Electrum malware, so the pattern fits.  If dj6230 isn't banned for sending malicious links in PM, he should be banned for ban evasion.

It's been ten days since dj6230 has been active, but somehow I suspect he's just moved on to another alt.

Thanks for spotting that connection... I've always beleived in flagging as I go rather than relying on waiting for DT's to splash the Red Paint ™ for me.

Will there be a flag against funkydog too?

According to the OP, only the merits that have been earned during the past year are considered.

I stand corrected...

And According to what is shown on Loyce.club, eddie13 has earned 521 merits in the past year however eddie13 is still much more powerful than Timelord2067. Grin

Merits come and go ...

I bumped a bunch of old coins I could think of and think I have the spammers pushed back to page 5 now..

*snip*

Can you guys think of any more unbumped ANNs to bump up and give newbs a read?...

You'll get bored before I do... (even Lauda has fallen from first place onto second or third page)

That is some serious bump power..

My meagre 284 merits can out-bump your 84 merits (and no doubt someone else will out-bump me...)
5311  Economy / Lending / Re: Timelord2067's Timely Test and Main-neT LighTning Loans to a "T" on: September 21, 2019, 01:03:54 PM
  • Split repayments not accepted.
This may be needed in some cases, considering how difficult it is sometimes to send a transaction through LN.

I did have a think about that - for 0.0001 I feel it would be getting to splitting hairs for even smaller transactions to then go adding up. Besides, what if four or five transactions are a few Satoshi short? Will people support a flag or scam accusation for a couple of Satoshi?

Quote
Quote
  • I *will* open a scam accusation if you don't repay test-net bitcoins that I have loaned you.
I think this is a bit harsh and you might scare off potential users. Testnet faucets already pay more, but that's on-chain, and Testnet coins are never supposed to have any value.

Value no.

I'm not supplying a faucet of test net BitCoins, they like their main net counterparts are being loaned. I expect them to be returned (plus interest) as agreed.

But I will consider what you have said especially given we are trying to encourage new users into the Lightning-network who may feel more comfortable using testnet BitCoins before taking the plunge with real BitCoins.
5312  Economy / Lending / Re: Timelord2067's Timely Test and Main-neT LighTning Loans to a "T" on: September 21, 2019, 08:54:10 AM
I've bumped the channels up to five each on the three devices so I should have plenty of scope to do a lightning transaction in or out.

I've only just come across this thread as I don't visit meta too often.

I'm giving the LN a chance as evidenced by my

Timelord2067's Timely Test and Main-neT LighTning Loans to a "T"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5184177.0
main-net BTC 0.0001 loans, test-net BTC 0.001 loans 1% seven days max.
thread even though I'm finding the LN very klunky with a lack of connection paths Vs the block-chain broadcasting to the entire network.

That said, I'm not interested in signing up for yet another forum elsewhere, but am ok with looking in on more lighting node threads (child boards) here on BCT.

LNchat.org domain will remain under Zand's control and I will continue maintaining our Lightning Network node which has quite a lot of opened channels.

All the channels are currently showing as "closed" which is one of many reasons I want to spread my channels around instead of putting all my eggs into one basket.  One major node fails (for what ever reason) and most connections are cut off.

How is everyone, hope your well.

I still have gems to swap for crypto.

Check out my topic.

Update seems I need to update the pictures will have them up soon.

All the best

I keep meaning to post an update about the stones I received a few weeks ago.  Just checking you're on the sexcoin Discord channel? Drop me a note over there.
5316  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: September 19, 2019, 11:52:04 PM
I don't check other stats, but I observed the most merited profiles page for weeks, and stats on that page have not yet updated for weeks.
I have 648 merits as of writing, but the stats on that page stucked at 596, that is my stats for around two or three weeks ago.
Percentages of DT1, DT2 & normal users in top100 merited profiles, merit senders
I wrote that thread when I have 545 merits in total.

All the users have an outdated merit count there. Mine is 972 there, which is much lower than now

LoyceV has 3600 in BPIP and 3638 in bitcointalk
Theymos has 5197 in BPIP and  5236 in bitcointalk

and so on.

Well, for a free service, I think Vod is doing a terrific job as well as the people giving him a hand behind the scenes. (and even if it were pay per view, I still think it's a great project)

I would not send my KYC to these people. Simple.

I'm wondering if they are banking on that occurring by most people?
