He creado un hilo en Meta al respecto: Spam wave attack on the Spanish Forum – Hardware y Minería (and others)

There seems to be an ongoing wave of spam posts on the Spanish forum, posting referenced to https[colon]//goodhash[dot]io. The attack started less than 20 minutes ago, and is carried out by an army of newbie accounts that post one or two posts at most. The said subboard, Hardware y Minería , now spans 3 pages and a half of threads, bumped by the addition of a trailing post of the sort. The posts are also "bot" type posts, and not human made (almost as fast as my meriting sprees). I’ve reported a few, but I’m sure there’s likely a better way than doing that. Which is the best procedure to deal with it? Edit: Also happening in: Mining (India)Edit 2:I see most, if not all, are now deleted, figuring as "AutoTrash" on my search window, and no longer visible on the Spanish board. The post message on my search window is now figuring as "Re: Bнимaниe, нoвый лoxoтpoн" ("Re: Attention, new scam"), which I presume is part of the counter action. Cheers.

Venezuela does have a National Criptocurrency Treasury (see https://www.tcv.com.ve/), but it is more related to finding ways that the government of Venezuela can use to bypass sanctions through crypto. Due to this, likely Venezuela does hold some bitcoins, although I have not been able to find any information that details any of these BTC holding, if they indeed do exist. I wouldn’t precisely expect too much transparency here though, nor would I expect the holdings to be significant. I’d even hypothesize with their being more shifted over to personal pockets than in control of any national treasury over there.

I’ll try to update all the lists over the week-end Done. I wouldn’t expect too many changes in general, but there again, I didn’t expect them with the last update over a month ago, and there were quite some shifts in the lists, besides new inclusions which are always nice to see. Edit: All list are now updated, as is the Google Sheet with the complete data for the lists that are trimmed due to space limitations.

Objetivo a superar: 64,863.10 $ (CoinMarketCap) …

Ver: https://wayforward.archive.org/?site=www.bitcointalk.org

I’ve tried to get hold of a footage of the original press conference where this was announced, but came back empty handed. I’ve seen a couple of articles referencing a specific phrase, which does not seem to have been commented on much. Specifically (translated by me): <…> He mentioned that they will work alongside the Superintendencia Nacional de Criptomonedas y Actividades Conexas (Sunacrip), in order to adapt to the european model, where various aerodromes allow payments through Bitcoin, Dash and other digital coins.
They reference studying some European aerodromes (they are not using the term airportshere). I Wonder which they have in mind … See (in Spanish):https://www.viajesboletin.com/categorias/principales/venezuela/95819-aeropuerto-de-maiquetia-aceptara-criptomonedas-para-la-compra-de-boletos-aereos/

I’d like to take a step back in this conversation, and revisit the spirit of rule 27: " Using automated translation tools to post translated content in Local boards is not allowed." Here I lack the full history in order to know the exact reason why it was proposed as a rule, but it was seemingly conceived in this post: 9. Discussions in the main boards must be in english. All other language discussions should be posted in the appropriate Local board.
Please expand on this with a note to the effect that "Automated machine translation, such as using google translate, does not reach the standard required to post in English." or similar. The same can be added for posting in local language boards. Added rule 27: 27. Using automated translation tools to post translated content in Local boards is not allowed. Here I’m talking from a conceptual point of view, and not about specific cases. Now I figure that the rule had, in principle, the objective of facilitating a seamless conversation and/or understanding on what is posted on a local board. If that were the objective, then would automated translations that are clearly intelligible be permitted? What if they only strayed a few words here and there, but were still easily intelligible? Something that has a terrible translation is obviously subpar, and certainly falls under the said rule, but on broarder terms, and just as an afterthought, we probably see a fair share of that on regular posts in the English sections, made by or assisted by tools used by non-native people. What I’m trying to get at is whether these tools, and their output, are not allowed per se (as the rule reads), or if they are if the result is good enough (albeit not perfect). The secondary layer of debate is on whether the translator used any automation tools in the process of translation, due to which they may or may not be skimming who hired them to some extent. This latter effect is not really a rule related phenomenon. I barely visit the Altcoin board on the Spanish board, as it is not normally something I’d be interested in reading through, so I’m not really aware of how good or bad these translations are. Note: Professional translators often do use tools in their work to make translations, but it then their degree of knowledge on the language and translating techniques that come into play to enhance or correct the output of such tools.

What I really meant is that you cannot know the IP of any person by trying to find the IP of their profile on Bitcointalk. What you will be seeing is IP information related to Bitcointalk itself, but not to the people that created the link. If we could, it would be a great privacy issue. Note: One can see information on his own IPs on Bitcointalk logs by examining https://bitcointalk.org/myips.php (info delimites to last 30 days), but that information is not accessible to anyone but Admins and oneself.

The former site you mention hasn’t been active for years apparently, and in 2016 it figured on the media for having scammed 700K users (see https://cointelegraph.com/news/hashocean-scam-victims-sign-petitions-to-fbi-hackers-to-reveal-more-scams). The issue is, in any case, with this company, and not Electrum, whose users are the sole custodians of their BTCs. You can elaborate more if you wish to get our feedback, but you’d have to detail why you’re considering Electrum at fault, and not solely HashOcean, who is certainly the one to blame.
