5341  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is cryptopia dead? on: April 08, 2019, 05:51:10 PM
So i'm just wondering what's the current state of Cryptopia? By looking almost all coins have 0 volume. Is the exchange closed. Will it reopen? If yes, then when? Can someone update me on status of cryptopia?
The last thing I read about cryptopia was that it is being maintained and it had also made a statement where it said that the exchange will be up and running soon (since it is down since the hack occurred).
Also, cryptopia will try to reimburse the lost funds and give back the users what they had lost although no guarantees.
I guess it would take time but at least they are trying from their side to make things alright.

Nobody is perfect bud. I have made mistakes in my past but what matters is how you learn from the mistakes and improve yourself. I had faced time when I had no job and my financial status was so low that I had to walk miles to save a few bucks.Signature campaigns helped me a lot in handling my expenses and I thank the forum for that with all my heart. It was during those times when I committed this mistake. The mistake I did was not to read the campaign rules clearly. Although I did apply for it at the same time, once I read the rules clearly, I decided not to go against the rules and I left the campaign not only with one but both of my accounts. You can also see this in the spreadsheet (post count is same) of that campaign.
Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FKIXSX7mdYykkF29Ls0_vP1y54IraFvExAyNvWciJ2w/edit#gid=0

While the forum rule is that alt accounts are accepted and few of the trusted members here have alt accounts too, I have tried not to spam/shitpost/or any activity which is against the forum rules. I respect the forum for whatever it is. After that incident I have tried not to commit such mistakes again. Do you still think I have done anything wrong or something that is against the forum, if yes please let me know before anybody flags my account. Flagging an account doesn't take much time but building it while complying the rules does take a lot of hardwork and time.

P.S: I have tried to contribute much towards the forum and the crypto community in general. Besides that I have also encouraged people to use crypto and provided them crypto knowledge whatever I had.
When I had no job, I have also educated other people to learn about crypto and this was one of the ways I started earning money through crypto.

Somebody is in deep trouble here. I can't even imagine how hard it would be for somebody having a Hero rank to loose his profile as well as reputation, the latter is most important.
I am strictly against merit abuse and I don't think people should take it for a joke. The think Taki did is wrong and I know bitcointalk never forgives anybody for breaking any of it's rules regardless of the rank.
This is the reason why every merit I give to others is damn precious to me. To be honest, I still have most of the airdropped merits and I will only merit to posts which are truly deserving though it takes time.
Besides that, I have never merited a post more than a single merit because I think meriting a post is like highlighting a quality post and even a single merit can do that task.
Why to waste multiple merits for a single post ? I feel sorry for Taki because if I were in his place it would be very hard for me.
5344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: “Green Cryptocurrencies” - they way forward? on: April 08, 2019, 02:53:50 PM
Though currently struggling for survival, if we’re talking about the future, could cryptocurrencies have a potential to trigger an eco friendly finance revolution?
All the potential cryptocurrencies are running smooth without any problems. So the matter of survival is not an issue here.
Though the shitcoins are struggling hard, they should probably be, they will end up turning into dust anyway.
The potential coins do have a bright future and I don't know about the eco friendly nature of them but yeah if we find alternative solution for energy consumption then it might trigger an eco friendly solution.
For example, if solar panels are used to generate energy which can be used for crypto mining then it might, in a way, trigger eco friendly revolution.
5345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the biggest venture capital fund that human kind ever made on: April 08, 2019, 01:41:24 PM
The dislike factor of Bitcoin by some people:
1.Price volatility
2.High Price
3.Waste of Electricity
4.Lack of supervision
1. Yes it's quite obvious to have a huge price volatility since the price of bitcoin is so high and there are many investors holding thousand of bitcoins. Also, whenever a surge in the price occurs huge number of investors jump in to the rally to buy bitcoin which is why the price volatility grows at a larger scale. There is pretty much nothing we can do about it.

2. High price is the result of large number of supporters bitcoin has and the price volatility due to above reason complements the high price of bitcoin. Volatility is a catalyst to the high price of bitcoin.

3. Every currency needs something to be produced. Fiat currency are printed and hence paper is wasted in this case. Waste of paper is equal to cutting down of more trees. Hence every currency 'wastes' something.

4. Supervision is not necessary for bitcoin since it is decentralised. It acts based on actions of its users. I wonder how lack of supervision is a 'hate factor' for people.
I agree with everything except the first point that you mentioned. Extreme volatility is a double edged sword in this market since it can help investors earn profits or succumb to losses and unstable values are a problem for mass adoption.

Who would want to use a currency whose value can change radically regularly when compared to stable FIAT(Most of the time)?

This is why I believe that volatility of this market needs to drop in order to pave the way for mainstream mass adoption in the future.
I never said that volatility is not a problem. I was just pointing out the causes for those factors. Volatility is definitely an issue when it comes to mass adoption.
I know nobody would want a coin which an increases/decrease the overall value of their holdings so quickly.
I guess volatility will only get stabilized when more people starts using bitcoin. The more people use it, the more widespread bitcoins are across the globe.
5346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Possible scenario when all Bitcoin is completely mined. on: April 08, 2019, 11:34:54 AM
we can barely predict what is going to happen in a year or 10 years from now. you are asking us to predict what will happen after about 90 years! that is simply impossible. not to mention that this topic has been discussed before many many times. example of the most recent duplicate topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5128657.0
Yeah bud, I don't know why people are so concerned about a thing that is going to happen in the next generation. 90 years is so long that most of us won't even be alive until that time.
Despite that, the topic has been discussed so many times that if I filter the search results, I ll find pages full of threads related to supply being ended. I must say, people don't even want to use the search function before creating a new thread.

5348  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hyips and contract transparency culmination has changed in cryptocurrencies on: April 07, 2019, 06:31:17 PM
Ever since I have joined telegram, I have been added to hundreds of groups, contacted by hundreds of strangers and scammers, got business offers by some people and have received thousands of HYIP schemes but I have always ignored it.
I never trust anybody from Telegram unless I know the person personally. I never trust any information received on telegram unless I verify it myself from other sources.
This has benefited me and has kept me away from loosing money.
5349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin & friends - a cartoon series about bitcoin some restricted content on: April 07, 2019, 02:46:28 PM
While I have not watched any episodes yet, I did watch the trailer. IMO I liked the concept very much. While the cartoon animation is a bit outdated it adds the feel of traditional cartoon when I was young.
I was born in the 90's and as being a 90's kid I loved the cartoon shows that were in trend back in those days. The animation of this series resembles to a cartoon shows of those days.
I don't know how valuable the content of the series will be but I probably think there wouldn't be much of tech involved.
Anyway, thumbsup for atleast making something rather than nothing. This is how it all starts.
5350  Other / Meta / Re: The forum is slowly changing on: April 07, 2019, 02:17:28 PM
This post would have suited better if it would have been posted an year ago. All of the spams, scams, shit and burst posting occurred was more a year ago when compared to this year.
Since then a lot has changed for the better. Scams have reduced since the market was bearish. Spams have reduced since very less projects had been launched throughout the year.
Shit and burst posting has reduced due to the merit system. Overall quality of the forum has increased in the last few months in my opinion.
5351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Converted all altcoin back to BTC on: April 05, 2019, 04:18:45 AM
Can't say I proifted much, I paid way too high of fees on the exchanges, lesson learned on who to use and who not to next time. Right now I want to see how this next move shakes out. If I miss out on a big 30% move on some coins, so be it. I will sleep well tonight.
I understand that your point of view to make this move was not to miss out the profits on bitcoin but according to me you should not have exchanged 'all' your altcoins for BTC.
You could have exchanged few of them which had less potential to BTC and should have kept a few potential coins because many times in a bullish run, I have seen altcoins making a bigger move than bitcoin. If this happens again then you might suffer bigger losses in addition to the loss of transfer fees you have already encountered.
5352  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying bitcoin with PayPal payment on: April 05, 2019, 04:11:22 AM
To be honest, I would never consider using Paypal to buy some bitcoins since Paypal is an offender to bitcoin.
I didn't had any negative views on Paypal but since the day it blocked payments for the ebay accounts who were dealing with bitcoins, I had started feeling hatred for it. There are many other options that can be preferred to buy bitcoins such as cards, internet banking, UPI, P2P transfers etc...
5353  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best place to sell a little bitcoin on: April 05, 2019, 04:04:30 AM
You should try selling your bitcoins to bittrex. You can direct your funds to your bank account after you sell it. And the fee of transaction to your account will not hurt you since bittrex has a nice volume of coins. So selling could be of a higher price.
Bittrex was definitely a good exchange earlier but it has turned out to be less visited site these days. I had myself started trading with bittrex but since the implementation of KYC took place I have shifted to Binance.
I have read posts where people's funds were frozen by bittrex due to non-compliance of KYC by the users. Its like, I can't even use my funds if I don't reveal my identity. Why would anyone want that?
Binance is far better than bittrex in every case which is why OP should try binance before any other 'exchange'.
Bitcointalk marketplace is also a good option but just be sure that the dealer is not a scammer. Go for reputed members rather than less known members.
5354  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: This PROVES market manipulation, 20,000 BTC order at same time on 3 exchanges! on: April 05, 2019, 03:50:45 AM
This is where I'm quite baffled, about how much was needed really to push the price to where it is right now and who did the said market stimulation. Anyways, the movement seemed to have cemented quite a following on its way up, and support levels are being nicely placed in $4500 and $4300 respectively on the exchange that I'm working at. Perhaps this will be the start of a beautiful spring - summer season for bitcoin, as was the case for previous runs, too.
So this means that money worth 20k BTC is required to increase bitcoin's price by $1000 . That's a shit load of money. The one who is doing this is definitely a huge whale but I wonder if he is a single person or a group who must be doing it.
Anyway OP, why do you think the whale would even bother to contact you before his trades. Its nice to wish to though Tongue .
Who wouldn't like some profits on his trades.
5355  Other / Meta / Bug in showposts' page layout on: April 04, 2019, 02:44:15 PM
I just noticed a bug or lets say it a glitch because it's temporary and it was not present earlier. The page layout is a little disrupted as you can see in the below picture.
I didn't know which section it belonged to hence I am posting it here. Moderator can move it to appropriate section. Also, let me know the section so in case something like this happens in future I can post it there directly.

Edit: Hold on, I guess it's due to the 'code' that is present on that particular post.
If I am right, can the moderator please delete this thread. Apologize for this nuisance.
5356  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Take Profit or keep the position open? (Bitmex) on: April 04, 2019, 04:12:02 AM
That's a thing which only you can decide because it's your money and it's you who should decide whether to take risk or not. According to me, seeing current price at $5000 is a good point to sell since you would be getting a good profit selling at this point. But you never know, the price might rise as well. Grin
You can also use a stop loss and set a higher price like $5500 to take away the profits but keep in mind, the price never goes in one direction. It will surely dump before the next spike takes place and so you should be ready for that.
5357  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Art of quitting !!!! on: April 04, 2019, 03:54:31 AM
From all the experience that I have had in trading cryptocurrencies I can say that it's all about a well prepared strategy. Setting the target prices and executing the trades based on those prices is enough to buy and sell at the right time. Most of the times what happens is we set a target selling price but since the price of a particular coin is continuously increasing we decide not to sell. That's the mistake we do. Though we get good profits due to this but sometimes the price suddenly falls down resulting in losses.
So if  we set the target prices according to the profits and just stick to it, we can execute profitable trades most of the times.
5358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help with a transaction on: April 03, 2019, 05:30:45 PM
Thanks for the detailed response. What does rebroadcasting the signed transaction mean?

Here's the raw transaction in hex format:
Code:
010000000001018fe98535907adfa51d1aed325e35b10d95c763b47c1afe24db75897b21531de201000000171600147a2e7c4dc861b09a433427fb89448fc8e0dc8625ffffffff02a1fae3010000000017a914940861d25bbcf28d376f29b1931318790e1aa63f87893c32f20100000017a91476e8b55e723f764a18f60844fe8bbffee03c164d8702483045022100ca918af5b29338d26db56aaec81a8564b5334e0bcf55b91bec3a34f77caab911022012fae0271b380d4c3e6b15576b8f5985f7f624af8f622961db7ef0e3f0dd24190121036c492ad7e625a58c5ea6b28319e4af12d9111d32d13fdb186ccba3f50cbb050200000000

Use google, or Vod's thread to search for free services that allow you to rebroadcast a bitcoin transaction (there are dozens of these services), copy the transaction above and rebroadcast it Smiley

The theory behind this action: if you create a transaction, it is broadcasted to the nodes in the network. Some of these nodes are owned by mining pool operators. The mining pool operator picks the highest fee transactions (in sat/byte) from the mempool of his node to fill the block he's trying to solve.
The default setting of a node is to remove unconfirmed transaction from it's mempool after x hours (my node is set to 10 days). So after these x hours, most mining nodes won't have your unconfirmed transaction in their mempool anymore... Unless you re-broadcast it to the network Wink
This theory also shows there is no need to rebroadcast to often... Once every 2-3 days should be sufficient
In that case, what happens when a transaction is not re-boradcasted to a network? Does the transaction get reversed ?
I have read somewhere that when a transaction with very low fees is boradcasted it stays there for a long time and then is revered to the user's address.

Also, why is it necessary to re=broadcast the transaction only in hex format? Why can't a transaction be re-broadcasted as it is?
5359  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you know about bitcoin-laundry.com's system? on: April 03, 2019, 05:15:42 PM
It'a quite funny sometimes to know how beginners put money in exactly those things which are probably scams.
Haven't you heard of Bitblender or Chipmixer ? I don't understand this, don't you guys do a little research before putting money into something?
Just a little research would have showed you the results with Chipmixer at the top followed by Bitblender.

I was just going to ignore this post when a prank struck into my mind. Can't stop laughing thinking about it.

Theymos suddenly announces that he is giving up his job of managing the forum due to some reasons and is hosting some sort of competition to elect the next forum manager.
Just when the competition ends he announces that it was a April Fool's prank  Grin
That would be so witty Cheesy
