5341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +7931 units on: February 09, 2022, 04:06:26 PM
Yeah, well, two bad bets in the end, up there. But we continue to have faith in City dropping points and to boost my dangerously low profit this season haha.

100 units at Fairlay on Brentford to WIN vs Man City @25.38. Other odds: 22.50
Units advantage: 282

Also, accidentally deducted 200 instead of 100 units in last post, so I make up for the 2 bets in this total.

Running advantage after 107 bets: +11992 (+282)
All-time cumulative: +79,600
Running units after 106 bets (13W|93L): +1773 (-100)

It doesn’t change the fact that Bitcoin is STILL a censorship-resistant, self-sovereign cryptocurrency, which is the point. That it STILL can’t be controlled by the banks and the government. You are merely debating about operations security, which is entirely another discussion.

I don't disagree about Bitcoin or these points about Bitcoin. I don't think anyone who's commented does.

I just don't see how it literally fixes the problem. If GoFundMe accepts only Bitcoin today, it literally doesn't fix the problem.

I think as others have pointed out, this isn't a problem of currency that needs fixing, it's a problem of method of crowdfunding. In the example I showed, some guys used Bitcoin to crowdfundraise on this forum -- it didnd't make that campaign censorship-free. Again, the method matters, not the currency.

How's FUN working out for you guys who went in when it first came out?

I am in FUN for the beginning but since then we saw massive decline in the price. So I am still in loss but I just keep holding them for the long term. Their roadmap is promising and as I stated in some posts above, the benefits you get for being a premium membership make it worth it (in the long term).

Haven't been the most active player, just doing my rolls daily when out or on commute, it's almost like a ritual as it's the start page for my browser, so I actually have enough now to load up on a smallish amount of FUN. Was thinking since I don't do much anyway, might actually be worth it to do so for the long term as you say, 2500 tokens short of the 12500 mark so I might dip in around there to get some Wheel spins. Just that I'm not sure how long-term that would be. A year's okay for me, two to break even might be a bit too long.

I got in almost in the beginning, maybe April of last year don't remember correctly with just 2500 FUN to start enjoying the Premium Benefits, for most of the year I increased my FUN with my rolls and using RP to get bonus to get more FUN and until end of this year I had 10.000 thousand.Yesterday I got all in and bought 4000 FUN for 0.001 Bitcoin and intend to buy a similar amount every week if it will be possible for me,I intend to go to at least 50.000 FUN while the price is 1 cent or lower and keep them here.If they raise in value I am going to buy my beloved Mercedes CLS,I know FUN will appreciate I just have this feeling that keeps me content while increasing my stash of FUN tokens.

Thanks for the feedback swog. I'm under no illusion that I'll be rich from any crypto venture I get into (too old for that). I just see myself not doing anything with my modest stash at this site for a year or two, it's more like emergency fun money for me. FUN looks like an option once my stash is enough for 12500, my semi-arbitrary number.

You're preaching to the choir.
You said you wanted to play “Devil’s Advocate”.

Yes, and that's what I thought I was doing -- the devil's advocate typically comes from the choir, do they not? Wink I only have Bitcoin, I just like sparring with OP

Anyway you agree that Ayre is happy. And we probably can't speak for other holders, so let's wait for sgbett to update here and shift confirmations of final ATH when we get to 70k.

I'm not in need of drama right now so I can wait.
5345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: February 08, 2022, 09:59:54 PM
I don't think that goal should be ruled out for offside as Varane who score wasn't in an offside position and it was a Maguire again that was ruled to be offsides, I really just don't like how inconsistent the VAR can be with these calls.

I thought it was because Maguire fouled a defender and from an offside position (so at least impeded him) or there would have been cover. Effectively took out the defender.

Another series of bets ruined by United. Even took West Ham and Newcastle, Inter on an acca and they all won, but terrible team let me down. Like they forgot how to play in the second half.

That's what I get for trusting them.

Yeah Pam (funny how I still think of that nick). Never give up. 20 points week is not impossible. 2 weeks of 15 points is even going to push you real high up. And there's still the Superbru prize money to keep trying for if all else doesn't interest you (I know, I know, an impossibility but still).

Anyway, picks in way early, not changing them. I noticed Leicester are over 10/1 underdogs to Liverpool... I call that value bet, even if I'm never taking it -- I know it's probably because on squad strength and they got trounced by Nottingham but still...

Anyway, who's up for a Burnley upset (I'm not)?

Checking in here because I noticed for the first time in what felt like a long time, freeroll returns was "only" 4 sats (which happens when BTC = above $45k haha). Didn't last long though, as a slight rebound is underway, but it does remind me we'll soon be seeing 3 sats again this year (right guys? Wink ).

How's FUN working out for you guys who went in when it first came out?
5348  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin, I salute your final ATH. on: February 08, 2022, 10:48:44 AM
Holders happy? Their shitcoin’s price is the same as before the Pandemic Crash during March, 2020. Who would be happy? Plus what miners? “The miners” is just Calvin Ayre, and it’s mining profitability indicates very low hashing power, which also indicates that it’s not a secure blockchain.

You're preaching to the choir. Think the chain's already been 51% attacked a couple of times that I've heard of, so we know it's not secure. Actually still relatively cheap to attack ($13k according to crypto51.app). But it doesn't change the fact that it's probably still a relatively profitable venture to easily mine something that's still of the same value of 2 years ago, no? Or at least, one very happy Ayre then.

NFT card what? Am I missing something? =D
You are missing key word Sorare, sort of fantasy football game where you own player cards (NFT). I tried it when casperBGD mentioned it to me some time ago but it never really took off for me. I guess I am EPL Fantasy guy and anything that goes by different scoring rules will always be doomed from the start.

Big derby game tonight in Italy, who is watching Salernitana - Spezia Smiley My money is on Spezia though, good odds and they are in great form at the moment.

Ah right, well. I know the NFT scene is pretty profitable, and I can imagine it's fun if you're like my kid already spending hours a day collecting FIFA Ultimate cards (which aren't even NFT)... probably 15 years ago I'd spend some time too, but yeah I'm rather time-strapped so anything that takes more than a few minutes is never going to hold my attention long which is why pools are the max I can do. My Fantasy team is just... beyond salvation.

Should have seen the draw coming, but I had Spezia to win and over 2.5 goals... I thought 5/1 was good value for that. Salernitana thought different.

Woke up to about 2% surge, so I suppose this is a relatively slow rise.
I would guess that people who are happy to see the situation doesn't want to see it end so they are fooling themselves to think that everything is alright. As we all know these big sudden increases could always mean a bad thing as well (like a dead cat bounce) or it could mean that we will be 70k+?

Actually, I think people fool themselves regardless of the market direction. If it's severely down, then it's a floor, if it's suddenly up, it's a rally. Speaking for myself of course. March 2020 I had faith and had it gone down even more I'd still have faith.

Ignoring that over 15% spike in a few hours is anything but healthy,
On paper 15% spike is not healthy but when you also consider the situation that led to that spike you can see that it is not only healthy but expected. Essentially it is like when price suddenly drops down from a bubble. That large drop is not unhealthy because the initial high price (peak bubble) was unhealthy so the drop is making it healthy.
The recent below $40k price was itself unhealthy so the price had to jump back up to make it healthy.

#reversebubble

I can go for that. Woke up today and it was 22% up from 5 days ago but price seems to have retreated slightly now after an impressive 45.4k mark. This looks like it's got plenty of legs. I still prefer above 40k for remainder of the month as a better indicator of health, but things looking up now gotta say.

<insert victory gif>

Woohoo, you got there early mano, but yeah, this time I had a ticket on. Actually bet on Spezia to win, but this is far sweeter. As a bonus, the other game was a push too Wink

Wasn't such a big gap since the last one either -- still stings that I avoided AFCON and missed out on that one, but happy to be celebrating this all the same

Is there anywhere I can watch a live medals count for the Winter Olympics?I kept searching and it seems Sweden is currently staying on top with 3 gold medals but ROC holds the overall with 6 medals in total

Anyway I missed this, I found about this yesterday but it was 6th already so yeah I missed this. I would have put an outright bet on China for sure, they are quite the favourites when it comes to olympic sport especially when they are the host

Host advantages but even if they are not the host, they are still one of the top contenders

I just Google Olympics and it shows me the tally, so you're right, Sweden is top with the most golds, and ROC (China) has the most medals with 7. If Wikipedia is right there are 112 events so we're about 15% there. I bet on most medals outright, not most golds, so yeah I should really have been paying more attention haha. Still, as I said, if Norway just win let's say 10 more golds (as they should) I should win back slots money. I'm not too concerned.

I'd never rated China as well, this is winter sports. If I'm not mistaken, they're using fake snow on this edition, whereas them Scandinavians live in snow. All the same, you look right for the moment, as they've got a lot of medals!

it is tough race in La Liga, but this is obviously your season, you are topping all pools (Calcio, La Liga, EPL)

this round brought me two exact scores in Calcio, and all other missed scores Smiley

nevertheless, Sergej from Lazio was good, and I had one of best results in Sorare, but Nikola Storm from Mechelen scored two in first half, they were up 3:0, and than got himself a red card, why man, why? Could be in top20 with him without red card, and looked at some great NFT card, nevertheless, would get one Tier3 player

I prefer not to talk about it, because I have a nice habit of jinxing myself. It will be too much to ask to stay in these positions until end of season, but I'll settle for taking prizes in all the pools, as long as I don't do a Ranieri and tinker too much, or do a Pep and overthink (wish I watched him at Brescia), or do a Mourinho Roma meltdown.

Didn't realise you watch Belgium league... I occasionally put bets down on them in Europe but this season have largely moved my minority bets to Africa and S America leagues, with mixed results.

NFT card what? Am I missing something? =D

As a promo-addicted gambler, I now realise I'm all out of promos. Only thing left going for me now is the Olympic medals outright, and I picked the massive favourite Norway (as the promo gives me freespins on every gold) -- they led the table for a tick but now China's way out in front with 6 medals.

Based on 0.3 mbtc returns from 50 Gates of Olympus slot freespins I already got, one of which included a "big 50x win", I figure I just needed about 10 golds from Norway to keep me in push situation (250 more freespins), but nice to see already recovered 30% of my outlay haha.

China were about 10/1, so wondering now if this was a blip or if it's host-country advantage.

How're you guys doing?

^ Wolfsburg has been performing for me in all the accas I included them this season, which is rarely, but somehow manage to pick them well even in Europe, but I'm really not sure I'd call a team that loses to Mainz and draws to Arminia, while losing to poor-form contenders like Leipzig and Freiburg a top 4 team heh. Don't see them getting more than single points in their next 3 games, but if the odds are right, they'll pop up in my accas.

but if an organisation chose Trucker Joe Briggs to present his personal bitcoin address.. joe briggs can also decide he wont pay out, and instead retire to cuba with a lifetimes worth of money.

+1
Hence the popularity of Bitcoin escrow companies in past fundraising eras (ICO is such a bad word now) and the continued popularity of escrow services on this forum -- Bitcoin itself doesn't solve the trust issue of crowdfunding.

Am still curious to see if Bitcoin will further develop smart contract capabilities for such a simple case (escrow). I know it has to be possible, as it has been discussed before. Just always wondered why it's not an in-demand utility.

Remember what happened with this Bitcoin charity fundraise.

And here we go again, the panic buying at its finest. It only took a couple of hours to go from $36k to $42k as they started to buy a little at first but that causes a ripple effect and suddenly we have a big green candle on the charts where we are now seeing $40k+ prices. Just like that.

Today could be interesting, I'm curious whether the panic buying is going to continue and we can see much higher prices (maybe break another resistance) or a slower rise to >$50k price.

Indeed. I've even started seeing chatter about the "healthy" growth (I've even seen the word "organic" now) of the past couple of days that proves the bears are all done. Ignoring that over 15% spike in a few hours is anything but healthy, and ignoring that demand is suddenly popping up from nowhere. It's always panic selling and stupid noobs when the market moves in the opposite direction but when we're in an uptick, everyone's a genius for rushing in.

Woke up to about 2% surge, so I suppose this is a relatively slow rise.

Did we really expect a different game? I did, and was disappointed. All the same, watched everything to the end. It just had to go to penalties, Mane will forever wish he put his one in early on. But still, Egypt's penalty luck finally ran out.

Well done to me for winning the outright =p Senegal have their first ever!

And aye guys, thanks to sponsor and admin for putting this together. A nice bonus to have that we really didn't deserve, and a great addition to the forum itself. Thanks hugely, and keep them coming! Gentlemen, I enjoyed everything we had here.

So Simeone's hoodoo continues, and Xavi goes to bed with a huge smile. 9 shots each on goal, so seemed to have been entertaining?

Barca looking better than expected in first half. They are dangerous in every attack going forward and what surprised me most, Traore actually looks great. Even his touches and delivery look much better then I have ever seen from him. Maybe he just needed to see a bit of magic on training to pick up some stuff.

My both to score bet passed easy, so now just watching for fun.

Didn't get the chance to see Traore play, or this marvellous scoreline, kind of really tired after watching games for 5 hours, will probably see if I can catch a bit of the Afcon final if I get past dinner without getting sleepy...but saw Traore's name on the assist, so he's already beginning to contribute. Maybe this is all for the better then. Even Torres on the assist, must feel good to hit the ground running with 2 spring buys!

How did Auba do?

Dani scores and gets sent off too, least you can't say he doesn't have spirit eh?

It's incredible how badly Atletico is defending this year, and they don't seem to find a way around it to improve it.

Atletico only has to aim for the champions and beg to finish more or less well in the league.

Sort of second season syndrome. They and Suarez spent themselves in winning the league last season, and at the end very barely hung on to their lead too. Run themselves into the ground -- but if I can afford some generosity, they probably didn't deserve to lose both games against Liverpool in UCL, if they could only play like that every game, but no team can sustain that sort of energy.
