5381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Deep Onion on: September 20, 2017, 09:22:15 AM
The most important thing will be to bring more people in.

This is difficult because there are plenty of people like me who are interested but cannot take part in the signature campaign because either a) account is too new, or b) rank is only jr member.
5382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is the Waves bubble about to start ? on: September 20, 2017, 09:06:33 AM
I think the price will increase, but it is perhaps the wrong word to say it will be a bubble. If something is a bubble then the price rise is not justified and the bubble will pop. With Waves I think it is different as this is genuinely a good coin with a good future.
5383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blackmoon Crytpo? on: September 20, 2017, 08:44:26 AM
I also like Blackmoon and I think it will be a great coin. I was too late to participate unfortunately, but I will be continuing to follow and maybe if the price drops on exchanges like it often does with new coins, then that will be where I can buy in.
5384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Beware of using Slack in ICO campaigns! on: September 20, 2017, 08:33:26 AM
I agree to beware of Slack, because I have joined some Slack channels for ICOs, and get a lot of phishing and scam messages. So this isn't a problem with the coin, it's a problem with people exploiting Slack.
Just always be wary in general I think. A lot of this fake Slack stuff preys on fear, so don't do anything in a panic ever.
5385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I’ve got a stupid question... on: September 20, 2017, 08:11:21 AM
Ok, I’m new to cryptocurrencies and “markets” in general. I’ve invested in a few different alt coins and have got what may be a really stupid question and hope someone could clear it up for me.

Say you’ve invested $500 in bitcoin at the latest rate, and purchased an altcoin at a price which is very appealing. What happens if (over time obviously) Bitcoin deflates massively but the altcoin value rockets? How could you get what is effectively a handsome profit to a fiat currency without losing?

Thank in advance!

You still (usually) need to convert back to bitcoin to cash out.
So if the alt rises and bitcoin goes down, you need to wait until bitcoin stops going down before you cash out. So you either keep the money in the alt and wait, or you convert to Tether and wait. And then once bitcoin is stable, you convert to bitcoin and cash out.
5386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (ATS) Authorship token is not a scam on: September 20, 2017, 07:59:48 AM
I don't think it's a scam, this seems to be a genuine company, it's not some unknown people who appeared out of nowhere. I think it's just badly managed. They are trying to repair now but it may be too little too late, there are a lot of people who don't trust them now and don't think they are professional.
5387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What to do when price keep dropping ? on: September 20, 2017, 07:46:06 AM
What to do when price keep dropping ?

If you know what you are doing and you are good at trading then this is an opportunity for profit as you can take short positions.
And if you don't feel comfortable trading then it is easiest to just hold if you think the coin you have has a long term future.
5388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICOs scam? on: September 20, 2017, 07:31:34 AM
I just joined an ICO, is there any possibilities that I will be scammed. They have just collected $5-10 million.

There is always a chance, but you need to do enough research before you buy so that you have confidence in the coin and that it is a good and legitimate project. But if you have already bought in, then this is just advice for next time!
5389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO's killing crypto on: September 20, 2017, 07:15:46 AM
I don't think ICOs are killing crypto, ICOs can be a great way of generating publicity and new money and new entrants to cryptoworld. It is just that there are some bad ones and scam ones out there. So it is really a good thing that these will in time have regulations like other businesses. I am not worried at all and think it will be a positivie once the temporary panic calms down a bit.
5390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is best for a short position? ETH, LTC or BTC? on: September 20, 2017, 07:04:42 AM
Not ETH at the moment because there is a fork coming up, and I think price will drop. For short trading you don't need a big coin though. Maybe have a look at something smaller, that's where the big opportunity for high returns is.
5391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cryptocurrencies that can grow in the coming days on: September 19, 2017, 11:22:15 AM
i still believe on ETH
after doing some research and doing my own technical analysis i think ETH will make another big pumping in this or next month

ETH has the fork coming up though. This could lead to a drop before it happens, like we saw with bitcoin. Maybe not if its not expected to spawn a new currency, but it is still a time of uncertainty for ETH. I like the coin, but maybe there are better in the shorter term.
5392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cryptocurrencies that can grow in the coming days on: September 19, 2017, 08:27:04 AM
Often it depends on when you buy. One good approach is for newly released coins that have just had their ICO. They always dump really hard, but if it's a good project it will recover. So good coins that dump to below the ICO price can be a great investment. I'm not saying specific coins though, as this depends on personal opinion after having done the research yourself.
5393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many bought ETH just to join an ICO ? on: September 19, 2017, 08:13:04 AM
I also think that many people bought ETH purely for participating in ICOs. And this is a reason for its rise, as well as a reason for it falling during the big ICOs when people complain that the network is clogged and can't take the volumes.
ICOs aren't really the purpose of ETH, but I do think it's the driving factor in price at the moment.
5394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ICO regulation good or bad? on: September 19, 2017, 07:45:15 AM
It will be bad in the short term as this is affecting ICOs and causing some to be postponed or even cancelled. In the long term this should draw more money into the coins, but the point of these coins is they are decentralised and governments don't like that, so how does regulation fit with being decentralised?
5395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH has 2 Hard Forks coming up? If I have 1 ETH, do I get 1 of each that splits? on: September 19, 2017, 07:31:38 AM
A hard fork doesn't mean a new coin. It sometimes happens but not always. I think with ETH it's just a way of updating, and everyone will follow the new chain.
5396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WARNING] ats tokens scam on: September 18, 2017, 11:42:30 AM
Dear Authorship friends,

I started with a little bit of sarcasm. Well, here I am; I am an Authorship cheater. In this post I shall tell you why I did it, how I did it and what I'm going to do.

Wy I did it
I'm unemployed. I have a decent roof over my head, enough food to eat, even an internet connection, but when my bills are paid I'm monthly broke. Then I read about cryptocoins and how people from investing a few bucks became Bitcoin millionaires. That got me interested. So I'm only into cryptocurrency for a couple of weeks. Now since I don't have a lot of money to invest I got interested in bounty campains. Especially Authorship bounty campain seemed interesting. So I signed up. I don't have family or friends so I posted my link here and there on facebook and forums. The result was dissapointing. Nobody was signing up. At the same time I got that daily overview of people gathering thousands of ATS from referrals. That got me frustrated. I then decided to cheat the system 'a little'. My thought was that everybody would get paid and that I would simply get paid a little more. What would a few of extra ATS mean for a team of devs who would become millionaires with their fundraising? Thus was my thought.

How I did it
I made an Excel sheet on which I wrote about 40 fake names. For every name I made an email adress with providers that don't ask for your mobile number. I wrote the adress down. Then I made for every name a myetherweallet adress. The adress and private key I wrote down. Then I installed a VPN. Apparently one not many people use. For every account I changed the IP. The IP I wrote down to avoid using the same IP multiple times. Then I went to Authorship.com to sign up. The referral link and the link where I could see my balance I wrote down. In course of time I randomly used the generated referral links, or I registered directly.

Then the time came to harvest, so I thought. I had to fill in the form for every account. Of the 40-something accounts only 3 were not succesful. I think that for the first 3 accounts I used the Tor browser, those were filtered out. Then I waited for the tokens to arrive. But I received the infamous email where was stated that no further tokens would be issued and that instead we could get 3 free books. Okay, so now I could collect a small library. I didn't overreact. It was my own fault. Cheating doesn't pay off after all I thought. But then I noticed the fierce anger the email generated. People demanded their tokens. And soon enough Authorship decided to hand out tokens to everybody who had less than 4 similar IP's. Out of the 40 accounts I think 20 or so were succesful. I sent gas to the fake wallets. And from the wallets I transferred the ATS. Thus I collected 2275 ATS.

That however is not the end of my story. For the execution by Authorship turned out to be a failure. Some people received double the amount of tokens, while others proclaimed to have played the game honestly while not receiving any tokens. So instead of everybody receiving the ATS which they deserved from the millionaires, whereby I would receive a little bit more than I deserved, now I had received more than I deserved while others received less than they deserved. That doesn't feel right to me and like this I don't think I will ever enjoy my ATS tokens. Especially since the overal situation has outraged so many people.

Evaluation
Here I want to say that I do not feel responsible for the mess that has been created. My unfair play was directed towards a company which would raise millions and not against individuals who often probably don't have more money than me. The mess has been created because Authorship did not prepare and execute the bounty campaign properly.
What was good?
- The giving out of 75 ATS was generous. It created a lot of attention.
- They had the intention to filter out cheaters.
What was bad?
- The parameters for filtering out cheaters were not set properly from the start.
- During the campain the above parameters changed serveral times.
- They even went so far as to suddenly exclude a whole lot of fair players from receiving ATS. They broke the crucial agreement of the bounty campaign. Only heavy protests made them take back that decision.
What would be better?
- Lay down clear rules and parameters from the beginning.
- Stick to the laid down rules.
- Value all participating in the campaign. Also the little ones.

Regarding the people reacting to Authorship my views are as follows.

What was good?
- People didn't accept that Authorship would not hand out their fairly earned ATS. They made themselves being heard.
What was bad?
- People called names and even threatened individuals from Authorship. I find that not an acceptable form of protest.
What would be better?
- Be on fire but also be cool. And realize that the individuals behind Authorship are people with feelings too.

What I will do
So what will I do now? I feel sorry that many of you played a fair game and didn't receive your tokens while I cheated and did receive tokens. That is not as it should be. I doubted about what to do with my ATS now. I am not intending to keep my unfairly earned coins. First I thought to hand them out to a couple of fair players who did not receive their ATS. But since I don't know who is fair and who is not I thought to donate my ATS to charity. But what charity would accept ATS? Eventually I made the decision to return my ATS to Authorship. Authorship cheating on fair playing people is between Authorship and them and in the end does not concern me. My concern is the fact that I cheated on Authorship. Two wrongs don't make a right. And that Authorship cheated their rules doesn't make me right by having cheated the cheater, especially not before they broke their rules.

I appologize to all concerned about my unfair play. I will not do this again. I hope that the time I spent turned useless, the ether gas I paid for transfers, and the 75 ATS I earned honestly by signing up myself will suffice as a penance.

To those considering cheating: If you have low standard ethics; go ahead. If you have some ethical heart; forget about cheating; you'll eventually pay with your feelings of self dignity.

Kind regards to all,

An Authorship cheater

Well done for owning up!
I agree that some of the vitriol directed towards Authorship is excessive. There is though this real issue of the people who were expecting to receive a lot of tokens because they put a huge amount of work into promoting the campaign and generating a lot of interest and a lot of referrals.
I don't see an easy answer though. The hardest workers - the most deserving, have been lumped in with the biggest cheaters - the least deserving. It's really not a great situation Sad
5397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: portfolio for one year on: September 18, 2017, 11:29:40 AM
All I would say is split between BTC and some of the top-end alts, and then use the rest for trading to dip in and out of various alts depending on news on specific projects. But trading needs some skill so if you do this then try small amounts first.
5398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your thoughts on coins with BIG percentage of circulating supply over max supply on: September 18, 2017, 08:48:03 AM
The coins that have a big percent of max supply currently in circulation are likely to go up in value, but those with a big max supply that is not yet circulating have a big chance to drop. What is important is when the unreleased coins will be circulated. Ripple I think have a lockup.

But this is one reason why bitcoin is increasing, because people know there will only be 21m and so there is not much left to mine.
5399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Biggest ICO 2017 on: September 18, 2017, 08:41:37 AM
I think the bar is too high. At such a time it will be very difficult to collect such a sum with such marketing.

I think it is not a good sign if ICOs aim for a massive cap. This doesn't seem necessary for purpose of getting things off the ground, it looks more like pure greed and cashing in on the ICO rush. I prefer those with a smaller cap.
5400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorite Token? and why? on: September 18, 2017, 08:36:05 AM
Bitcoin is my favourite and this is the coin that will still be here in 10 years time
Alts are great for increasing the amount of bitcoin you have, but you need to time it right.
