5381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll - Mt. Gox Rollback - We Finally see our Accounts on: June 25, 2011, 11:27:38 AM
I have $0.00529 less than expected and ฿0.003 more than expected. Must be due to some mistyping on my part when I did the last trade. No extraneous logins.
5382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox Dead to me forever - Delayed AGAIN! on: June 25, 2011, 03:29:28 AM
It's bad enough to delay... but to wait until literally 4 minutes before launch to post the delay announcement is utter bollocks.
Our European friends have been forced to stay up untill 3 am two nights running to witness this buffoonery.

I for one made good use of my alarm clock. So now an additional 3-4 hours of sleep will do.
5383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MTGox Is Gone Forever.... ? on: June 24, 2011, 03:11:39 PM
i'll probably use any exchange that has a clark moody ticker

5384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MTGOX Limit Orders placed prior to the breach.. Cancelled?? on: June 24, 2011, 02:51:55 PM
Where exactly did you read this?  I have asked for clarification of this fact.. and I have yet to find it..   All I have found is speculation and heresay...

Could you please do me a kindness, .....  LINK!?!?!

Good question. I know I saw this officially stated somewhere - I absolutely remember reading it and knowing it was from Adam or Mark aka official - and not just in irc. I'm 90% sure it was on the support page mtgox.com is being redirected to.

I'm basically like you. I know I have read it somewhere, but I can't remember any further detail.
5385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My account request was rejected by MtGox - what should I do? on: June 24, 2011, 02:42:02 PM
Well seems that the majority of us are getting through, no? Half of my brain begins to think that these will be the last 12 hours without trade at last!
5386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Information for MtGox Confirmation Acceptance on: June 24, 2011, 11:54:46 AM
I only had ~10 btc in my account and I got it back by providing ip address and account balance. Maybe they require more proof if you have >100 in your account.

Not in my experience.
5387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just got "account claim successful" from Mt Gox - anyone else? on: June 24, 2011, 11:41:16 AM
I have more than 4000 BTC and more than 4000 USD in MT Gox. Got an E-mail this morning saying my was claim was rejected. I have friends in Japan MT Gox.

Maria.

Ouch that must hurt. I admit I got nervous when clicking on the link, for no more than $650 total. But 4000 BTC is serious stuff...

5389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Public Safety Announcement: On the subject of password security on: June 24, 2011, 09:43:03 AM
Quick question: could a simple CRC32 (plus some additional mangling) of the login be used as a salt? That way, it wouldn't have to be stored, it just would be computed everytime it was needed.

(Only useful on closed-source projects, tho).

If no one knows this is your technique then it is an effective security-through-obscurity measure but if the attacker does know of this technique then an attack table can be compiled even before or while compromising the password list. And what advantage do you have over a salt? saving 10 bytes on disk per user.

Re: the attacker knowing of the technique, that's exactly why I said it would be only useful for closed-source apps.

The main benefit isn't the 10 bytes on disk, but the fact that the salts aren't stored anywhere, so they can't be stolen unless the hacker gets to the source code, in which case the impact of the compromise is more severe than just a user/password database leak.
5390  Local / Hardware y Minería / Re: Pregunta simple on: June 24, 2011, 09:31:51 AM

5391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My account request was rejected by MtGox - what should I do? on: June 24, 2011, 09:00:09 AM
Finally, after 50 hours since my original claim, I just received the "Accepted" result. To summarize: I provided old password (a good quality one), exact balance greater than $100 and IP address. No dwolla (not an US citizen—don't have account there), no details about funding/withdrawals, no anything else.
5392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just got "account claim successful" from Mt Gox - anyone else? on: June 24, 2011, 08:33:54 AM
Accepted!! Phew!
5393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My account request was rejected by MtGox - what should I do? on: June 24, 2011, 08:06:15 AM
I provided exact balance both in usd and bitcoins. Let's see what happens with my claim once I receive the notification.

I provided that, plus IP and the address I sent BTC from/to (since they never had any of my financial details to verify) and they accepted me a little bit ago. \o/

Thanks for your input. I provided my IP too.

My balance is >$100 and I'm still in limbo, I guess I was not automatically rejected, probably because I provided exact balance. I see that as a good indication.

5395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mtgox delays 24 more hours on: June 24, 2011, 02:53:36 AM
Fucking assholes.  Seriously I skipped out on a dinner for this.  They could have announced this hours ago.

+1. It's 4:50 am here. Didn't sleep. Gotta get out to work in a couple of hours. Ouch.
5396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Black Hole on: June 24, 2011, 02:28:16 AM
Thanks for the clarification.
5397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My account request was rejected by MtGox - what should I do? on: June 24, 2011, 02:25:01 AM
Probably not strong—it lacks special characters. But then, why did the claim page allow it?
