5381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 18, 2020, 07:34:38 AM
I see that noone mentions Milwaukee Bucks and big moves they did on Monday/Tuesday

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30333660/sources-milwaukee-bucks-agree-deals-new-orleans-pelicans-jrue-holiday-sacramento-kings-bogdan-bogdanovic

First they sent George Hill, Eric Bledsoe and three first round picks to exchange for Jrue Holiday. After that they decided to go for another shooting guard (even tho Jrue is more of a PG) and acquired Bogdan Bogdanovic from Kings in exchange for Ersan Ilyasova, Donte DiVincenzo and D.J. Wilson. Jrue and Bogdanovic could compliment Giannis well, as having a pretty decent shooter as Bogdanovic will make more room for Giannis and his drives, while he will spread the court for them. On top of that, Jrue is an elite defender, and when you are aiming as high as Bucks, that is a must have.

They way I see it, since Giannis becomes unrestricted free agent next year and due Bucks fear of loosing him as it becomes more and more popular to sacrifice some money in exchange for title shot, they decided to go all in and will push for the this season's title.  I just hope this works,  Bucks reach the final so Giannis signs supermax contract next year. It would be shame to see once again "Anthony Davis" type of scenario, as it makes NBA less interesting when top talents are concentrated in few teams.

Thoughts? Do Bucks have what it takes this year to go for the title?
5382  Economy / Scam Accusations / [SCAM] Coinizie promising 10% daily return on: November 17, 2020, 09:08:27 PM
What happened; User is advertising Coinizie investing platform where you can get 10% per day return per day via "Artifical Intelligence bots"which we know is just a nonsense. He started the thread in Bitcoin Discussion board so tags won't be visible for now, but I'll try to get that topic moved by mods.

This is how he advertises this site, Coinize

You can invest with a profit return of up to 300% of your money
I invested in a registered company that invests in cryptocurrencies
Like Bitcoin and Ethereum, it accepts all cryptocurrency deposits
I made a deposit in the premium plan and started making a lot, and I withdraw my profits every day, and the best thing is that the company is licensed and licenses are available for everyone to look at on the site, meaning everything is safe

And when you check the website, you can see their plans that offer up to 10% daily return. Something that only scam can offer.

As always, person advertising  claims that company is licensed and registered, but when you check their "proof", its yet yet again that useless Certificate of Incorporation. According to companies house, Coinizie ltd has been registered for "Other service activities not elsewhere classified". If they are truly legit company, they would have certificate from FCA since they are incorporated in the UK. If you check FCA, you won't find any company named "Coinizie"
5383  Other / Archival / Re: CitiBank & Report about Bitcoin: 21st Century Gold on: November 17, 2020, 01:26:18 PM

By what they post is obvious that managers of those banks are already stacked with Bitcoin. Now they shill it to sell on the pump next year. Poor people that will take loans to buy on that pump at $100k+ .
My thought exactly when I saw this . I can't take seriously these kind of predictions as its nothing but a bs. Sure, some will guess it correctly (like Tim Draper) but there is prediction  for basically every possible price. They achieved their goal and all news portals are sharing this guesstimate. Earlier today I saw one guy commenting under one of those articles asking if he should buy BTC now, worrying that he is too late. Fomo is kicking in as we are reaching previous ATH.

In the similar topic in Bitcoin Discussion board @mk4 shared an interesting prediction from that Citibank guy Tom Fitzpatrick that he made back in 2013 about gold and silver, where again he was bullish and expecting big price increase, again comparing gold bull run from 1970s, like he is doing now. I would like to see some of his previous BTC predictions, just to see how god he was.

It's the same dude who made a prediction in 2013 that gold is on its way to $3,500 and silver to $100.

and yea, he was significantly off the mark.

http://www.mining.com/citis-fitzpatrick-gold-on-its-way-to-3500-silver-100-93926/[/center]

I mean, of course it would be great if BTC reaches that, and all here (me included) are bullish in the long run and believe one day BTC might reach similar price, but by the end of 2021 to reach 318k? I don't think so. It's a long way from where we are now to that level.
5384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just poked that GUY on: November 17, 2020, 10:11:30 AM
A few months back, when BTC dumped to nearly $3200 (or it is $3800) at the beginning of the corona outbreak, a guy from my local who is now living in UK had posted in his facebook that "This is the end of bitcoin. I knew it has to be someday, there it is." I had nothing to say other than asking him to do his homework before doing such speculation. Well, I just have remembered that post and spent a few minutes to find that post and poked him the screenshot of 1 BTC equals to $16602. Guess his feeling now  Grin
While I admit that "I told  you so" in these type of situations can feel good, BTC going to 16,000+ won't change his opinion or feeling about BTC as people like that will say that "BTC went already to 20k and then dumped so it will do it again", or "it is just pump and dump scheme" or something along those lines. You know the saying, "You cannot reason people out of positions they didn't reason themselves into" and this applies here as well. For them BTC price is pretty much irrelevant and they will always find some excuse. At least that was my experience.

For me, it's a complete waste of time and arguing with those doomsayers is like playing a chess with a pidgeon; sooner or later it will knock all the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like he won anyway. I won't say I didn't make that mistake and argued in the past ( I am active on one IT forum) but I learned my lesson eventually.

5385  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [LISTA] Bitcoin Block Explorera on: November 17, 2020, 09:37:44 AM

5386  Economy / Reputation / Re: Binfair.com legit or scam? on: November 17, 2020, 09:13:53 AM
Hihi, that's what they claim but in reality, they have registered their company for gambling activities.
When you think about it, gambling is actually appropriate as that's what you are doing with your money if you deposit it there Cheesy

Why would a company based in England run by a Czech person share the same css code with a Chinese website?
When you put it like that, it does sound like a beginning of a joke, and that's what that site is. We all know why so many similar companies choose UK, as it's incredibly easy  and cheap to make one there, with little to none proper verification. And "UK based company" sounds more reassuring to their target audience  than "Chinese based" or "Russian based". Same reason why shitty altcoins like to use "Swiss based".

Thank you and thanks for everyone who put time and energy to the research, i won't use binfair even if some of the traders have really good performance there and their fees are cheaper than the competitors.. All the best for you!
Regarding covesting (or copy trading), I know some people that tried that on PrimeXBT and they ended up loosing  most of their investment so I would advise you to be very careful. Even if traders look like they know what they are doing and performing good for certain amount of time, chances are good that  things will go south sooner or later and you will loose if not all, but big chunk of your investment. Imho, you might as well go to online casino and gamble with your money, as that's what this is. In that case you will at least have some fun.
5387  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitwings promises smartphone that can mine 2 ETH/month. Ponzi scheme? on: November 17, 2020, 07:33:30 AM
So he lied in public when he said unpacking videos will be released 'today' because that was 4 days ago and still nothing.
I didn't find any unpacking on twitter or facebook, but only this video in spanish on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IO8DmKbWEE
Better grab your popcorns and enjoy the free bitwings show  Smiley
I found one, but you can hardly call it proper unpacking video, and on top of that its published on their YouTube channel. You do see this infamous Minephone though and hear some annoying electronic music, no voice or any kind of explanation. Naturally, under the video there are few shills accounts telling how great that phone is. They simply can't resist doing that kind of things.
ˇYa llegó! Unboxing del Minephone WX - 2020

They claimed that the phone was paired with a 2ETH/month package, now that sounds almost impossible since at the time of the release ETh was at per their calculation at 215$ and now it stands at 450$ and it likely will keep up with bitcoin and maybe reach quite soon 500$. At which point they will have no more room to maneuver than admit they are not really having a mining business backing their business model but this is a magic phone that does this and that and somehow prints money.
Yep, even with ETH at 200 USD they would operate at loss (if we assume that they would have to get that ETH from somewhere in order to keep this ponzi running for some time) and now with this prices scheme would crumble much faster. If you confront them with that question, I'm sure they would twist it around and say that's even  more reason to buy Minephone now, as ETH price is going up.

But even more annoying that this whole crapload of lies they keep on posting about their magic business is that somehow Icobench still ranks their shitty ICO with 4.3 and 4.8 out of 5 stars.
Everything is on sale there, including ratings from those "experts". Check any shitty ICO and chances are you will see the names like Ian Scarffe, Sean Brizendine and Hamza Khan. Among other things, ICObench also tracks bitcointalk activity and gives rating based on that so I think that's one of the reasons why we still see shill accounts despite bumping changes in altcoin board.

I thought those sites died off with the 2017 wave of scams but apparently not.
Unfortunately still alive and kicking, with few others as well. They were offline for a couple of days few months ago and I hoped that someone managed to shut them down for good but they came back.

This whole Bitwings mess doesn't make any sense. They have real mobile provider company behind them so it's not like same fake team decided to make a quick money grab scheme, that  we usually see. These are real people, they have some kind of conventions in South America, paying influencers to advertise this, going to that mobile phone congress in Barcelona etc. I guess they live in la-la land...
5388  Other / Meta / Re: Red and Yellow Warning on threads on: November 16, 2020, 06:09:00 PM
You are right, those warnings in different colors are flag related. If creator of the thread has Type 1 flag active against him, there will "yellow" warning and in case of Type 2 and 3 flags there will be a "red" warning. Bare in mind that Type 1 warning will be seen by guests and new members only.

In order for Flag Type 1 flag to become active it needs support of at least 1 DT2 member, while for flag Type 2 and 3  to become active support of DT1 members is needed.
5389  Economy / Reputation / Re: Binfair.com legit or scam? on: November 16, 2020, 05:16:55 PM
Whether Binfair is scam or not I don't know, but they are lying about few things:

On their website they claim that Binfair Holding Ltd is incorporated in 2016, but when you check Companies House, this is the data they submitted. As you can see, they were incorporated under that name few months ago, and on the address used by bunch of other companies, which is standard practice.

Then on Facebook they claim:

Simple domain  check via whois shows up that they are live for a couple of months

Now, since they claim to be Forex and CFD brokers registered in UK, unless I am mistaken they should be registered in FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) and if you check https://www.fca.org.uk/ you won't find this Binfair, and that means using their services is very risky because they are not licensed for that kind of business. Question is, if they are legit, why aren't they licensed? Answer to that is pretty obvious imho.

If I am you, i would stick to well known and reputable platforms and wouldn't push my luck in order to save few bucks.
5390  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginners & Help – most merited threads on: November 16, 2020, 02:57:39 PM
Considering that it is not difficult to notice that you are one of the most active merit sources interested in this board, do you have information on how many merits you have reward in all the listed threads? Somehow it seems to me that this is a significant number Smiley
I know that's not exactly what you asked for, but it's pretty close imho, list of all those that shared and received merit on Beginners & Help board, from Merit Dashboard ( I set the range from the beginning up until last Friday). No surprise to see @DdmrDdmr on top of that list, way ahead of the other merit sources with 2832 merit shared so far.

By the way, thanks for sharing this list! I must admit that  some of the threads mentioned I see for the first time, and they look quite interesting.
5391  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Certificate of Incorporation- what it is and why it shouldn't be trusted! on: November 16, 2020, 11:36:20 AM
Bump to spread the awareness about the dangers of thinking that Certificate of Incorporation is any kind of proof business being legitimate. Nothing changed in that regard as Companies House is still not verifying legitimacy of data submitted, and  it doesn't look like that will be changed anytime soon so it's still one of the scammers favorites tools.

My advice is, when you see a website boasting with this chances are good  that something is not right so be extra careful in case you decide to deal with them nevertheless.

5392  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I make 10 000$ month? on: November 16, 2020, 11:07:46 AM
I mean mimimum 10k monthly  well in worse case scenario  7k but nothing under 7 k month not interested!!
It's funny to hear you saying that you are not interested in anything below 7,000 USD per month like that amount of money is peanuts when you couldn't even afford to start your "trading business"  for which you claim that you are capable of getting 10% daily profit, consistently.

looking for partner who will invest in my crypto trading
profit is,  4days x week  sure 10%   your % mine to be disscussed.

from 1000 investment its a   400 $  weekly.

If you are such a pro trader as you claim ( and with 10% daily you certainly are), you won't find anything better. Or maybe your little plan failed?
5393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal Reaches 85% of Binance.US Volume on: November 16, 2020, 10:27:38 AM
This is just enough proof that people don't care about self-custody and self sovereignty, but mostly just the investment factor.
That reminded me of the meme I saw recently.

Worst of all, if something goes bad with this PayPal thing, people will blame bitcoin, crying how it's not safe as advertised etc. What I hope though is that those who bought this "bitcoin" via PayPal will eventually figure out that what they bought is not the real thing and that they can't move it around as they please  so sooner or later they will buy the real stuff. Or PayPal will enable that.

Time works for bitcoin so I am not  fussed with all this, I see it as just another step. Up until recently you would have your PayPal account locked if you tried to buy some BTC with it, and now we can see how times have changed.
5394  Economy / Reputation / Re: [LIST] ANN threads that are using bumping services on: November 16, 2020, 09:37:31 AM
updates: recently recheck the thread, I see mod already cleaned up the junk posts there. maybe this is the last chance, if still open posts here as part of their airdrop, maybe better for mod to locked up the thread.
Anonyme thread has been thrashed now, so all those hundreds of posts were in vain. I just wish mods nuked that thread sooner as it would save them some time from deleting hundreds of posts.

Two new additions to the list:

[ANN] Investro - THE NEXT STEP IN AUTOMATED SOCIAL TRADING
Beside hiring bumping service to shill their thread, I tagged and flagged Investro for using fake team member photo. This is just another proof that scammers use  every method available in order to fool people, and while hiring bumping service may not be 100% proof that project is a scam, it is certainly a good indicator that something fishy is going on and calls for more in depth check up. If you dig deep enough, in most cases you can find some dirt. You can find more about Investro and their wrongdoings in this scam accusation topic.

Same group of newbie accounts that are working on Investro are active in Base Protocol ANN. No further proof needed to see what's going on here.
5395  Other / Meta / Re: If OP is proven as plagiarism, people still make replies. on: November 15, 2020, 05:30:39 PM
Little inquiry, do plagiarized contents gets deleted by the mods when a user is banned, not nuked?
I used to think the post is allowed to stay up as it could act as prove later in case of an appeal (although LoyceV's archive covers this). The discussion could also still be relevant and something other members can learn from, even though it breaks forum rules.
That's actually a good question. I do think that some of the posts get deleted, but not all. I don't know whether it has anything to do with the amount of replies plagiarized opening post of topic got, but I just checked some of my previous reports and I can see that topic is still there (while having bunch of replies) despite poster being banned.

Then again, it could be that you are right and none of the plagiarized posts are deleted unless user is nuked but I could swear that some of them got deleted while user just get banned. Maybe mods can clear this up.

Usually, I do not reply if I notice the thread or post has plagiarized. Rather than just report and moderators take action against plagiariser.
My rule of thumb: if I see unusually well written post from a newbie user that looks like it could be a plagiarism, I just skip it (and check whether it's plagiarized). Maybe I am too paranoid, but that's how I deal with these things, I don't want to engage in conversation that starts in dishonest way.
5396  Other / Meta / Re: If OP is proven as plagiarism, people still make replies. on: November 15, 2020, 03:28:06 PM
The answer is very simple: majority of posters don't read posts made on the 2nd page before writing the  reply. They read the first post and eventually few more (usually not even that) and just dump their opinion on the matter and move on. Rinse and repeat, and that's one of the reasons why  there is very little genuine conversations on the forum.

I've tried few times to do exactly what you did, warn the people that they are answering on plagiarized post, but since they just ignored the warning  I stopped with that practice. Just report that post to the moderators (I reported it too) along with plagiarism accusation and let mods deal with that. All those posts written there will disappear anyway once mods deal with your report. Just to add that's the pretty stupid plagiarism case, as OP didn't get anything by copying those  unnecessary explanations, his story would be the same.
5397  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A very creative way to burn hunters stake. DYP is another piece of shit on: November 15, 2020, 09:13:17 AM
First of all, instead of those screenshots can you please provide some basic things like bounty thread link, Telegram bounty group link etc?

Regarding bounty managers changing the rules in the middle of the bounty, that's the scenario we've seen god knows how many times, so there is absolutely nothing new here. Bounty campaigns are trying to cheat bounty hunters by changing the rules while bounty hunters are trying to cheat bounty campaign by enrolling alts (I don't say that you did that, but many hunters do) and this "game" goes on with no end at sight.

As long as you accept do be part of the bounty campaign without knowing for how long you gonna work and when exactly you gonna get tokens because bounty managers put that little "we can change rules as we want" disclaimer, you will get screwed. Since I see that you joined quite a few bounty campaigns, I am pretty sure that this is not the first time you've been screwed in the similar manner so you knew the risks.
5398  Other / Meta / Re: If you see a copy-paste topic from newsletters on: November 15, 2020, 08:53:37 AM
The second option is better. I usually put copied text into quote brackets and use italicized or in some cases bolded fonts if I want to highlight a certain part of the text for more attention.
I would go even step further and say that 2nd option should be the only one accepted here. Since bitcointalk already has strong stance towards plagiarism and verbatim copying without proper quotation is generally seen as such, it should be enforced here as well. I don't say that people should be  immediately banned over this, but it should be seen as low value post if done excessively and dealt in appropriate manner. That way people would start using quotation marks properly, and eventually amount of useless c/p posts and topics would go down.

Now question is, why people don't bother with that? It is probably due few different reasons:
  • Some want to appear more knowledgeable than they really are, and when you put something in quotation marks, it is obvious that it's not your original thought.
  • Ignorance. I am pretty sure that quite a few of those doing that don't even know about proper way to deal with direct copying from external source.
  • Poor/mediocre English level. Sentences look much better when copied directly and then just link shared at the bottom of the post instead of  trying to write something of your own.
  • Merit farming. This tactic can be very successful as people don't really care about these things when they share the merit.
  • Last but not the least, filling up signature quota. What's easier than copying something without adding personal comment?

Direct copy/paste should be clearly visible from the moment you start reading the post, as simple as that.

If you see a post looks lengthy and have good information but at end of it, poster leaves a source to a newsletter article, will you send merit to a poster?
If it was just c/p article (or part of an article) without some personal comment about the issue, I won't merit it, simply because I don't want to encourage that kind of laziness, and by meriting low effort posts that's what we do. As @Pmalek said, it would have to be something incredibly important to me to merit such post, and even then I would think twice.

One day when you will have many topics created and you want to find specific one fast, you can use this hidden feature. As you can see it shows list of all topics created by you so it's very easy to find the one you are looking for once you have dozens of them.

You can also sort them out additionally by boards if you for example want to find all topics you created in "Bitcoin Discussion" or any other board.
5400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin whale clusters show ‘institutional FOMO’ is behind the BTC rally on: November 14, 2020, 11:24:26 AM
Grin Not as horrible as you think, few week ago a family friend gat some loan (not my advise) to invest into Bitcoin and successfully pulled out some handsome profits; there's profit in risk management(imagine "A" collected a loan equivalent to 1-bitcoin some weeks ago when the price of bitcoin was $14k, he could have made some good profit).
It doesn't really matter that it worked that time, it still makes it irresponsible to take a loan from bank to invest in something as volatile as bitcoin. Sure, some might get profit, but this mindset will get you in trouble sooner or later as risk/reward ratio is not good.

One of the golden rules of investing in something like bitcoin or stocks is that you only invest as much as you can afford to loose, reading invest only the money that you have extra. Not money that you need for basic necessities like food, utility bills etc and certainly not the money you don't have (loan). Especially not during this current economic instability due covid-19 , where people are loosing  their jobs left and right and we don't really know when will it end.

My point is: If you don't buy now; don't buy when it hit another All-Time-High because the system is likely to rebounce back IMHV, well, let see how things roll-out in the next few weeks.
What I would suggest to everyone buying bitcoin for the first time: buy now, buy when it reaches new ATH, buy if it drops to 5K. Just keep buying, whenever you can and if possible in regular basis, like every two weeks or once per month. Important thing is to only use money you have extra, don't ask from friends/family/bank. That way it will be less risky and you can still profit in the long run.
