5381  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Paranoid about key generation on Raspberry Pi 3 on: November 16, 2017, 02:45:50 PM
If your USB-Stick and SD-Card did not contain any sensible data (those couln't 100% securely be erased, since thats not the easiest thing on flash memories).
AND if that was a new usb/sd, which you can be sure of that it didn't contain any malware.. then its safe to plug it into any pc and use it as a storage device.
You'd need a lot of bitcoins, for people to directly targeting you and trying anything thats possible to recover anything out of it.
If your usb stick / sd card weren't new.. and already were plugged in in any other pc.. i personally would not plug them into another pc anymore.
I'd rather put them into the microwave to destroy them once for all.
5382  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Question regarding Blockchain-wallet on: November 16, 2017, 02:32:02 PM
I only see "wallet of [suspicious link removed]". Could you please tell us how the app was called? We can google ourselves.
The first thing you should do is to connect the phone to your pc (usb debugging) and make a 1:1 clone (forensic copy) of this mobile.
Preferably with dd (https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/dd/). There may be tools for windows.. but i would not trust them at all.
After cloning your phone you can try to get access to the private keys. In case of any damage you still have a backup.
Maybe even build a checksum of your phone/backup, to be sure the integrity of your backup is given.

Then, if we know what app it was, you can stat trying to "export" this key somehow, depending on how it has been secured.
5383  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Lost bitcoins in Mycelium wallet with 12 words and backup??? on: November 16, 2017, 02:24:24 PM
As long as you have the right 12 word seed, your coins are safe! Did you previously add another account in your mycelium app?
If so, you have to add an account again to see your funds sent to this second account.
A change of your pin does not harm your backup in any kind. Your 12 word see basically is your backup. You don't have to do any further backups.
Do you see any transactions in your app? How much addresses does your account hold (Account-tab)?

Are you sure (and i mean 100% sure) you wrote your 12 word seed down right?
5384  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: how safe is the passphrase revovery seed on: November 16, 2017, 02:00:27 PM
A Hierarchical Deterministic (HD) wallet uses a seed (12/18/24 word seed) to generate private-/public key pairs (your addresses and private keys).
Basically there are mathematical operations which will be performed on your seed plus a counter to generate multiple addresses (to put it simply).
You actually don't need your wallet software to restore your addresses. You only need a BIP 39 compatible tool which will caluclate your keys out of the seed.
As long as you have access to a pc and internet you can always restore your coins from this seed.
5385  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: BCH and BTC - Still a danger of replay attacks? on: November 15, 2017, 04:17:06 PM
Even without replay protection you can first easily split your coins before starting sending/"claiming" any coins.
Its not like replay attacks are kinda destroying btc. Neither its a danger which comes hidden.
"Replay attack" basically is just to rebroadcast your transaction on the other chain. If you start splitting your coins you start with sending
your more valuable coins (btc in this case) to an address you (and only you) have control of. From now on your BTC are safe. And only this TX can be
rebroadcasted (which is kind of senseless for an attacker to send your bch to an address you own).
AFterwards you can start importing your private keys into an BCH wallet.
To not get confused by an "attacker", who is aming for chaos, you then send your BCH to a new address.

Afterwards there is no more risk to an "replay attack".
That's not exactly true in ALL fork situations... it works with BCH because they implemented full 2-way replay protection... but imagine if S2X had gone ahead with no replay protection... you try this and send your coins to yourself thinking, great, now I'm safe... and then send those "split" coins to someone else... Thief then just rebroadcasts the whole chain of transactions (ie. BOTH transactions you've made) and boom, your coins are now gone.

It isn't just a simple case of "send to yourself", it is a LOT more complicated than that... you need to start generating transactions that use inputs which don't exist on the other chain to make it impossible for that transaction to be valid on the other chain. The "easiest" way to achieve that is to get hold of coins that come from a "coinbase" transaction (ie. the block reward, NOT the exchange with the same name)

I think you got to explain this a little more.
If i have my coins (after a fork) sitting on the  address A1 , considering there is no replay protection, if i do the following:

1) Send more valuable coins from A1 to A2.
2) Send "forked" coins from A1 to A3.

At this point there are no inputs, which are also available on the other chain. Therefore if i send some coins from A2 to the potential thief,
he can't just rebroadcast this transaction simply because there are no inputs to spend on the other chain.

Am i missing something here?
5386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO]✅✅✅ Introducing Verify - The Future of Reputation ✅✅✅ on: November 15, 2017, 03:59:44 PM
I scrolled through your whitepaper and i like the idea a lot!
But i still have a few questions which didn't get awnsered by looking at your whitepaper.

1) The credit ceiling of a seller can be decreased. But how does it exactly get decreased? With a reputation of <3 stars? Or does it need several bad reputations?

2) How do you secure yourself (or the buyer) from an exit scam of a seller with a high credit ceiling? Are personal information gathered somehow?

3) In theory a seller could "sell" products to his own accouts to gain a good reputation / high credit ceiling. Did i miss something in the whitepaper here?

If i overlooked the awnsers from the whitepaper, i am sorry. In this case i'd be happy with you telling me where in the whitepaper i can find awnsers to my questions.
Nevertheless, i think this is a good idea and could get really big if promoted right.
5387  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do I need to update Nano Ledger S hardware wallet from time to time? on: November 15, 2017, 03:40:57 PM
Its not necessary to update it frequently. Like the post above says, its advised to update it when a security flaw has been detected.
But even if you don't update it when there is a security flaw detected this doesn't mean your coins are at risk.
Especially if you want to forget about your coins. As long you are not using your nano s.. there is no risk of losing your coins (even with flaws, exploits, ..).
But in general.. its always better to keep everything up to date.
5388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Will the Bitcoin Gods soon update the Bitcoin software to solve future backlog ? on: November 15, 2017, 03:29:33 PM
An off-line transaction platform would help with these current issues.

An off-line transaction plattform? How exactly should this work? I imagine you walking thousands of kilometers around the world to deliver my 5$ to ling long lee in china.
I guess you probably meaned off-chain transactions? Like the lightning network with its side channels, which may come in the future.
Unfortunately its not implementable yet.

But you can look at the speed and fees that others such as Ethereum are charging.

Ethereum does not charge fees. Fees are depending on the amount of tansactions waiting to get confirmed. Bitcoin isn't charging a fees either.
5389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are We Already Back On Track? on: November 15, 2017, 10:01:35 AM
I definitely think bitcoin is "back again". Yes, this was an (attempted) attack on BTC with a big dump and pump into BCH.
I am kind of suprised how easy BTC was taking this dump. A drop of no more than 10-15% and being back up within 3-4 days.
I think this shows the current strength of bitcoin. BTC is no longer that vulnerable to such kind of pump/dump "attacks".
BCH follower tried to make people lose the faith in bitcoin and wanted people to switch over to BCH.
The fewest people were thinking about BCH.. most of them just panic selled and followed the whales. This probably lead to a loss from people who jumped onto BCH "too late".
Increasing the block size by 8x.. without even testing how the network reacts.. followed by such a dump/pump makes me really chink BCH was only forked to scam people and make big profit.
5390  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: how can i create fake transactions on: November 15, 2017, 08:54:53 AM
i dont want to scam anyone ffs i just wanted to know if it was possible i dont even care how i just wanted to know if thats somthing possible

You could theoretically create a Transaction with a extremely low fee. This TX will show up in the mempools (and therefore also on block explorers).
Therefore you can create a transaction which will be shown online.. but never will go through because no miner will include your transaction into a block.
But you can't really make use of this. Because Transactions/deposits to any site will only be credited with 1+ confirmation.
A 0 Confirmation transaction is nowhere seen as a payments. Its like a "wish of a payment". Only after the confirmation (including into a block) this payment is being processed.

And to awnser your question once for all.. No, its not possible to create "fake transaction" as you are imagining.
5391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is mining the number 1 problem of Bitcoin right now? on: November 14, 2017, 07:03:58 PM
Bitcoin mining failed to decentralised over the years and right now a single miner, Jihan Wu, control 50-60% of Bitcoin hashrate.

Can you give us a source where you read about Jihan Wu (AntPool) to control more than 50% of the hashrate?
Currently AntPool is mining 17,4% of all BTC blocks [1]. Thats far away from 50%+.

That give him the power to play games with the network like what happen with bcash hashrate flipping or with the previous segwit, scaling block drama.

I don't see any problems with hashrate flipping over. Why exactly do you rate it as "playing games with the network"?
I also don't get why/how the "scaling block drama" is linked to AntPool ? Could you explain what exactly you regard as a problem?

5392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Show me one TECHNICAL advantage of Bitcoin on: November 14, 2017, 06:48:16 PM
You missed one (extremely!) important point. The first mover advantage.
Bitcoin is here for the longest time. It has proven to stand a lot of attacks. Look at the last pump/dump of BCH/BTC.
This obviously was an attempt to "attack" bitcoin and make money out of BCH. Market manipulation at its finest.
And BTC took this attempt pretty calm. Its no longer that vulnerable to such dumps/manipulations.

The "better projects" you mentioned wouln't stand against such an attack. They would get pumped and dumped to almost zero afterwards.
Whales (like in recent btc/bch dumps) could (pretty easily) destroy such projects which don't have such a big userbase and trust.
BTC has the biggest userbase and the most trust. It established itself in the crypto market (which can't be said about most of those shitcoins altcoins).

Edit: Just noticed the "technical"-tag. Technically there probably is no real (big) advantage over other coins. But technical advantage is not what makes a crypto currency
accepted and trustworthy. the technical part is important.. but don't underestimate the psychological effects.
5393  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How will Lightning work in practise? on: November 14, 2017, 06:36:15 PM
So we will have like payment card firms or “banks” which will offer lightning network payment card and apps in smart phones and we will pay with them in shops?

Not really. There won't be any apps. This also won't lead to centralisation of bitcoin. You can think of the lightning network more as side channel.
You will have the ability to join a channel (probably directly out of your wallet). Inside this channel you can then send your transaction.
After a bunch of transactions are collected, there will be one (bigger) transaction which will be pushed onto the bitcoin network.
This will lead to a lower "average size" of the individual tx's.
5394  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: how can i create fake transactions on: November 14, 2017, 06:28:26 PM
so i want to create a fake transaction 1 that will go trough but will not get confiremd because its not real how can i do that?

People like you are the reason we need a trustless payment system like Bitcoin. The sense of BTC is to not having to trust someone in order to get a payment done.
If it would be possible to create a "fake transaction" which shows up.. but then does not "go through".. you would need trust to recieve payments.
So.. if you want to to scam people write an email telling them you send them 1 Million $ via mail if they send you 100 bucks via sepa,...
But don't even try to trick someone like this with btc payments. It just doesn't work.
I think printing money from your home printer is more of a "business" which suites you..

5396  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S and a few questions on: November 14, 2017, 05:56:15 PM
What if i want to claim like 50% of my Bch, Ledger has a specific wallet for Bch, isn't that safe?

What if i send my Btc to two different Ledgers, do i get two private keys?

To be on the safe side you should follow the steps already posted. FIRST send your bitcoins to your ledger. After this Step you already secured your BTC.
From now on you "only" risk your BCH when importing your private keys into a different software. But if you use a reputable wallet, nothing should happen.

Your ledger is a HD (hierarchical deterministic) wallet. This means your wallet creates addresses (private/public key pair) based on your seed and a variable/counter (to put it simply).
So every ledger wallet is holding multiple adresses.
You can get a second ledger and initialize it with either (1) the same seed as your first ledger or (2) with a new seed.

5397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Amazon, now Steam ? on: November 14, 2017, 11:35:02 AM
[...] There was rumors about amazon, and Amazon bought domains... but didn't said a word!!

Amazon bought ethereum domains, yes. But they commented their move.
Amazon stated they are not going to implement altcoin payments yet, because there is "too little demand".
But they wan't to be "prepared" for the future in which crypto currencies are being widely accepted as payments.
Amazon already bought bitcoin domains, i think, about 4 years ago. But there is still no option to pay with bitcoins.
I wouln't derive too much from those news. As soon as BTC will get adopted massively, amazon has the ability to follow instantly.

A short summary of the interview can be found here: https://cointelegraph.com/news/amazon-sparks-speculation-by-buying-three-cryptocurrency-themed-domain-names
