it is quite easy to vote using a blockchian, here I explain how:

Great presentation! Thnx. This is exactly the system SWARM uses on Counterparty.

Thanks, also what is the reason for such a short window to apply, applications close only 4 days after the original announcement right?

I don't really know about that. But a lot of teams are interested, last funding there where over 50 teams who applied as far as I remember...

Voting "REBOOT"... using different platform
https://blog.bitcoinfoundation.org/runoff-election-reboot/

"No system is perfect on its first day out. So thanks for hanging in there and for your willingness to think outside of the box with us.
“These are growing pains. The important thing to remember is that we are all in this, building the digital economy, together"

I heard there were some problems  Shocked In the beginning the blockchain voting for SWARM itself was done by sending out voting coins (payed out as "dividend") to the
counterparty wallets. This was a bit confusing, so now there's a new platform, not without a little pain at the start.  Grin

Wow - that's cool. So coins can be bought directly without going through purchase of BTC as an intermediary step?

Yes indeed  Cool
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: February 25, 2015, 05:43:48 PM
Will swarm allow funding in fiat currencies?

Yes, you can use a creditcard or other payments on Stripe (they are integrated on the website). That will make it a lot more easy for people who don't want to buy BTC first. Now you can create a Counterwallet and buy coins from the project you like and get them sent to your wallet.
546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: February 25, 2015, 04:26:19 PM
Glad to hear about the BTC Foundation Voting.  This will provide a big boost to SWARM and to Counterparty in general.

Question: I hold some (small) amount of SWARM, and I have since the pre-sale.  I have not however received any additional "project coins" which is what I thought would be happening.  Do I have the wrong idea?

Same here, I had the SWARM-PRE, SWARM and a number of voting coins over a period of a few months. I did got Comiccoin and some voting coins for that project as well. What I know is that the projects after that were responsible for paying out that "dividend" themselves, and that there where some issues with that. For the next projects this should be fixed in a technical way now. Which means that the SWARM-platform will take care of that. No need for teams to run command-line clients etc. This "dividend" will only work if you use the Counterparty-platform. No idea where the coins go if you store them on Poloniex or something...

Voting on the Blockchain - Version 1.0

SWARM has partnered with the Bitcoin Foundation to help them vote on the blockchain.

"For the past several weeks, the Bitcoin Foundation has been working to develop an on-blockchain voting system that provides even greater transparency into the voting process -- with every vote being recorded on the blockchain. “The Foundation's mission is to advance blockchain technology and this is an important new avenue of innovation,” said Patrick Murck, Executive Director of the Bitcoin Foundation. “While we may not have the smoothest experience in this experimental launch, it's important for us to push the boundaries and spark innovation -- even if things get a little messy sometimes.”
We found a willing partner in Swarm and the new platform is finally ready for its first election. The Bitcoin Foundation is the first to attempt a vote of this kind on the blockchain and we are excited to have our Bitcoin Foundation members participate in this historic moment."

Great thumbs up for both the teams!

Haven't really read up on swarm...  But I'm curious... What if I have a project/idea, how can i get funding via swarm?

Great to hear you are interested in the project. Here's a link if you want to apply for being reviewed for funding. This round 5 new projects will
get funding.

Take a close read here as well for some more info about where SWARM is standing at this moment:

Feel free to ask any questions....

I guess my key question is:
Is what Swarm gets tied to what the Swarm campaign generates in terms of funding? There don't seem to be any links anywhere specifying the terms.

As I said before, the details will be made clear way before the new projects start their funding. But to already give a little answer to your question, SWARM is way cheaper than
let's say kickstarter and others taking between 5% and 10% of the crowdfunded money. SWARM's also kinda different to them. SWARM supports the new projects with time, legal advice etc.
It's quite thinkable that Swarmcoin holders get a fee in coins for the new projects. Counterparty provides the possibility to pay out coins (like BTC) as a sort of "dividend". And because
SWARM is holding coins themselves, the answer to your question would be yes, it should be a win-win situation where everyone involved shares risk and (hopefully) some profit.

A couple questions about this:
What's the most any individual startup has gotten out of a SWARM campaign?
What does SWARM get in return in this round - and what happens if a startup doesn't get much more than the minimum $5,000 amount from their swarm campaign?

Thanks for the questions.
There where a small number of projects launched on the SWARM-platform. The biggest one is about $25k for Bitcoin Comic, not really a startup though...
The project was a pilot and a great succes. Take a look here....

http://www.bitcoincomic.org/

Now the legal questions are answered, bigger projects can be launched on the platform. The full details will be made clear way before launch of the upcoming projects.

The good news is we have a new high for the CLAM at 2.51

552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: February 23, 2015, 07:42:12 PM
Swarm is opening its second round of investment for projects on its crowdfunding platform, as well as revealing a new legal structure for distributed organizations. Along with what they believe to be new, sound legal footing is a new name for these newfangled blockchain powered organizations: Distributed Collaborative Organizations or DCOs. Swarm, for the uneducated, is a crowdfunding platform and bitcoin incubator that utilizes both Ethereum and Counterparty to enable companies to launch their own coins for crowdfunding and the holders of Swarm's own coin will receive a proportional amount of all coins launched on the Swarm platform. Swarm uses the money raised in the sale of its own coin for expenses and investing in promising projects.

This time around, they are partnering with Focus Investments, who has already invested in Gems, NXT, Counterparty, Factom and others. As was the case in the first class of companies, Swarm will be adding five companies to its platform. Swarm plans to invest between US $5,000 and US $50,000 per company. That investment would be in addition to anything else the crowd invests into the company by buying their coins themselves. Companies can submit their pitches to Swarm starting today until Friday, February 27. While the investment totals aren't high enough that companies won't have to seek out other outside investments, the amount is enough to be a powerful motivator for getting companies to use the platform and therefore, getting more useful companies on the platform for people to invest in.

After the project being in BETA for a while due to legal questions like "When is a Token a Security? SWARM is finally going for the 1.0 version. A lot of work by the team is done and SWARM will be the first, fully functioning "Distributed Collaborative Organization".

Thank you very much! Are there any plans on launching this website on Ethereum when it's launched? I think it would be a great (D)app, the Dice could be a calculation on a new block every 12 sec.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : now with added CLAMs : Play or Invest on: February 05, 2015, 03:12:19 PM
I tried to look for some info that I couldn's find. Maybe someone here knows where to get it.
When I buy Apple stock I can see the daily +0.34% or -4% etc. When I look some further I can even see Apple up 20% in a couple of weeks etc.

When it come to Just-Dice I can see daily profit in CLAMS, but is there a graph anywhere showing how much an investment is up in % for a day? Say someone
invested 100 coins, are they up 1% (to 101 CLAMS) or down 2% (98 CLAMS). Is there a maximum drwaback over X-months, showing how much in % an investment in the house
went down???

I have a few questions about SWARM.

Can more Swarmcoins be issued to dilute the current holders' share?

Do Swarmcoins have any utility besides generating dividends?

Are dividends issued to Swarmcoin holders only once for each new SWARM project?  If so, at what point are they issued?

How is the number of dividend coins distributed per Swarmcoin determined?

There is a lot of talk here about November 5th.  Were dividends distributed on that day?

1. No, there are 100.000.000 Swarmcoins. It's locked using Counterparty, no more coins can ben created.
I think Sarmcorp still has 60% of all the coins, so they can do a new round for inverstors. But no more coins will
be created.

2. I don''t think they have. People (like me) use it to get new coins and for speculation. If some great projects come from SWARM people will buy more Swarmcoins to get the dividends.

3. Don't know when they're issued. I justed took a look at my wallet but no new coins yet.

4. I think it was something like 3% of the coins from a new project will be divided to all the coinholders. So Swarmcorp get the coins themselves because they have like 60% of all the coins.

5. On the 5th of novembere there was the presentation of 5 project. See video below. Still no coins in my wallet, but the first week as a Swarmcoin-holder you can buy new coins exclusively.
(didn't try that, check their website for info).

Video 5th of november

I'n not working for SWARM, just an investor. Hope the SWARM-people will reply themselves.

Price going up, volume going up. No longer just 200$ in volume but today over 2000$

559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: October 30, 2014, 04:07:34 PM

Is there a reason to stack up and move Swarm out of the exchanges before the 5th of November ?

I'm buying some everyday. For every Swarmcoin I have in my counterwallet, I'll get new coins from new projects payed out as dividend. If things with SWARM
(or one of these projects!) work out a price below 1 cent can be a great buy. Swarmcoins bring you more coins for free. That's my mantra.
560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: October 27, 2014, 08:59:13 AM
any reason why the price is going down so much?

Now it's up again, but on very low volume. That's the big problem, not many people know about SWARM so there's a low
volume in trading. To me that's a great opportunity as well, I can buy in a bit every day. And when the rest of the cryptoinvestors
discover SWARM I'm already in.
