541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google is preparing for Spot Bitcoin ETF on: December 13, 2023, 01:51:25 PM
In anticipation of the approval of Bitcoin ETF, Google is adjusting its guidelines for crypto-related products. Before now Google had been very strict on crypto-related advertising on the platform because of concerns for fraud and misleading promotion. However, it seems they are gradually adjusting these policies to reflect the increased mainstream or institutional adoption of Bitcoin.

From January 2024 Google will allow adverts on financial products that allow investors to trade shares in trusts holding large pools of digital currency known as "Cryptocurrency Coin Trusts". With this change in policy crypto coin trusts could run ads on Google provided they register with the SEC. This subtle adjustment of ads policy is an indication that they are preparing for Spot Bitcoin ETF.

What's more interesting about your observation is that it could be in anticipation of many things besides the approval of an ETF. I think a lot of corporations and institutions have now finally understood that Bitcoin will stay around and it will probably play an important role in many applications as we have only been scratching the surface of Bitcoin's potential for a long time. I like to mention what the US Space Force Major said about Bitcoin's role for national security in regards to decentralized data storage and security. If they understand Bitcoin's potential at least vaguely, I am sure that Google is onto it as well and I guess nobody would be surprised if they launch services of some type relating to Bitcoin anytime soon.
542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: December 13, 2023, 01:09:57 PM
I am following the Copenhagen - Galatasaray game. Damn it would be sensational for them if they manage to qualify for the round of 16. I have rarely seen a team fighting as hard as they did during the CL group stage.

Yep they qualified. Its ashamed that Manchester United finished 4th. I was expecting either Copenhagen or Galatasaray to qualify after Bayer Munich but I really wish that we won against Munich. Turn out we still sucks after all and thats it I guess for today, nothing really unexpected except for Union Berlin scoring two goals against Real Madrid. Heck even scoring 1 goal against Madrid would be pretty decent already for a team like Union Berlin

Although my picks for the first round are irrelevant, I went with 2 or more goals for Union Berlin because I thought Real Madrid would certainly take this game lightly and give some of their players a rest, but when I saw their line-up, it didn't look as if there are any weak (or weaker) Real Madrid players on the pitch. The biggest surprise was that he let Bellingham go the full distance. I was quite sure he would give him a rest, but Ancelotti seems to understand that there are players who lose more than they gain from not playing. It was a decent goodbye to the Champions League for Union Berlin.

Manchester United is wrecked. If that's how they go about a final game in the group stage, which could have saved them a spot in the Europa League at least, then really good night for all of them.
543  Economy / Economics / Re: GDP is not really growth index or representation of economy on: December 13, 2023, 12:08:06 PM
GPD will only be used to measure a country's overall economy in one year, it is never used to represent individual welfare. Usually, to calculate individual welfare, GDP per capita is used. That's why don't ever compare the welfare of society in Singapore with India, because even though India wins in terms of GDP, Singapore wins far in terms of individual welfare (2,256.59 USD vs 72,794.00 USD).

But keep in mind that that this is still just crunching raw numbers without any required deep diving here. If you take GDP per capita, the question still remains 'who earns what?'. The number of billionaires in a country can skew that number significantly and suggest that on average the people in one country are richer than the people in another country. You need to add the Gini coefficient then to see what's going on in a country. If you take a little community of 100 people and 1 guy earns 1 billion a year "domestically" whereas everyone else is homeless and unemployed, the GDP per capita for that community would be 10 million per capita. There are several countries with enormous wealth inequality and since wealth is often the most significant production factor for income, wealth inequality is often close to income inequality.

Ten teams did not submit, and none of them are my opponent! Why am I having such bad luck with "late submissions"? I hate how serious every team becomes when they play against me. When am I going to get the "fail to submit" advantage? Sigh..

I must admit that the cup questions were not analysed; I simply chose random answers because I didn't want to stress my squad for some Micky cup competition when I have a league to chase.

Sheriff Igebotz, nothing to see here.

Nope. Just LiVarpool 1EPL title in 20yrs+.

I am not sure if I am allowed to talk about it publicly, but let me reveal a secret @Igebotz: before the season started, several players here agreed to put a bounty on your head, mafia style, you know? Tongue

I am following the Copenhagen - Galatasaray game. Damn it would be sensational for them if they manage to qualify for the round of 16. I have rarely seen a team fighting as hard as they did during the CL group stage.

545  Economy / Speculation / Re: High transaction fees affects those who DCA on: December 12, 2023, 08:44:36 PM
At least the transaction fees are quite low compared to the past days but yes, still was not good looking and disappointing since it was not the normal trx fee we see. We are not sure how long this situation went okay but we have no option other than just wait or have to pay it. Yes, it was a good decision to just buy BTC in bulk like doing this once a month than paying $3 - $10 every week.
I've noticed that there is a time when the transaction fee is low, we can take advantage of it. We just have to monitor the market changes and timing.

For those who strictly adhere to a DCA strategy, the fees are a pain in the ass without a doubt. It depends on the amounts invested every single time and also the frequency, but I think for those who decide to stick to DCA, any excessive recurring fee isn't nice...

I know this has been shared somewhere else a couple of times, but if it helps someone to understand how to time transactions and how to best choose any fees they are fine with, this website is a helpful source.

What are the fees currently from the most popular exchanges you guys are using? Are most of them flexible or are there exchanges with fixed high/low fees?

"* It's very accessible at any given point in time."

I think these lists are fun to read as they get people thinking about more advantages that Bitcoin does have and what I often notice in these types of threads is that people stay in the abstract, like when someone says "it is good because it is decentralized". Some people understand the implications of having a decentralized wealth securing protocol and some people don't. They just follow the buzzword "decentralization". For many of these advantages and disadvantages there are interesting threads on this forum and if you present your list, maybe it would be interesting to collect some suggestions for insightful topics from other OPs and link them below.

One aspect I would add, but which could also derived from the points collected thus far, is unlimited capital mobility. You can't be stopped at a border like you could with a handbag full of gold bars. This mobility is insanely useful and allows people to leave their home if they like to, need to or have to without being forced to leave all their wealth behind. It is a different story with cash in the bank accounts. You can't just transfer the money out to a bank in a different country, or access it from there. Bitcoin is the most mobile form of wealth on the planet. Hence:

"* It's very accessible at any given point in time and space."
547  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany DFB Cup 2023/2024 - Discussion and Prediction on: December 12, 2023, 07:20:57 PM
~

This is what I did not want to see to be honest, Leverkusen against Stuttgart comes too early.

Saarbrücken has shown a lot of surprises so far and it will be interesting to see whether they can make another surprise against Mönchengladbach. They are certainly capable of it.

Leverkusen vs. Stuttgart is a top match, just like in the Bundesliga 1. If Mönchengladbach will not win, then only one club from Bundesliga 1 would still be in the DFB Cup. So there are more chances for the little ones to win the DFB Cup.

I checked the odds and the bookmakers have obviously noticed that Saarbrücken is no joke this DFB Cup season. They are giving around 3.85 for a Saarbrücken win. If it was a bit higher I might have considered a small bet, but this is too low. It is still about 7 weeks to go until then and we will see in what shape Gladbach will be, but it is actually quite irrelevant as beating Bayern and Frankfurt was enough of a statement I guess Wink

Well those that are heading the SEC will likely have to approved the Bitcoin ETF next year. I mean for me, those are big entities already, and so I will speculate that they have a lot of influence as they can wield it to anyone, like Vanguard and BlackRock who's a trillion asset hedge company.

So those people behind have some inside connection themselves or even lobbyist. Sooner or later SEC will have to get in to these influential group of individuals. As for the title of the subject, it's also obvious, Bitcoin has the support of the community and investors it's the wise decision to just put their money into it as it will give huge profits in the future, whether average joe or big whales.

I expect there are also some strategical shenanigans going on behind closed doors, like when the SEC receives an application, they will try to be careful as to how they represent their own institution in public. It should not foster the impression that as soon as a powerful financial US institution comes around the corner, the SEC immediately grants approval. They will take their team, giving the impression that there is a level-playing field for everyone who considers an application. In reality I expect that there is boundless lobbying going on and the ETF will come eventually.
550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: December 12, 2023, 03:29:49 PM
If they really want to win the league then the winning mentality is the basic they need and try to be consistent in order to capitalise on every mistake or drop of point by the mighty bayern munich, who was really disappointing yesterday and got trash by Frankfurt 5 goals to 1 but is usually like this for them every season when they get a shocking defeat but i hope Xabi and his men will not slack off because of this
Unfortunately Xabi Alonso team did not profit much from Bayern Munich humiliating defeat and got only one point from their game against Stuttgart. Bayer Leverkusen were playing away vs a team that is doing pretty good this season in Bundesliga. They were pushing and trying to score and Leverkusen tried too but their opponent were concentrated to not lose home.
This round in Bundesliga is crazy with a lot of unexpected results. Even Dortmund lost home vs Leipzig which increased the gap to 4 points.

Dortmund is the roller coaster team of the Bundesliga. I still struggle to understand how they were able to pass the Champions League group and get into the next round early. But I highly doubt that they will be able to pass two more rounds in the Champions Leagues they are just too weak and unstable. I am sure they will soon be punished for that. 11 points behind Leverkusen, only 1 win in the last 5 games... Is Terzic going to be sacked soon?
Dortmund erratic nature is unquestionable because thats how they started out. Its just that their performance is actually still very good in my opinion.
Their situation with this tight schedule is complicated. They previously lost to Leipzig also because they lost a player due to a red card but were able to hold back and even continue to reduce the gap but on the other hand they still have a number of things that need to be improved so that their very good performance is covered with inconsistencies in defense which sometimes it is detrimental to Dortmund itself.

Losing a player due to a red card is part of the game and I saw the scene how Hummels knocked down the Leipzig player, come on what did he think when he is going to go through with a tackle like that? It was strange because it was complex for the referee to make the right call as it wasn't clear whether it was inside or outside the box, which means inside the box it is penalty + yellow card and outside the box it is free kick + red card, which was then corrected from yellow to red + free kick.

But I am confused that you say their performance is very good as they have lost most of their games in the last few weeks and only won a single game in the Bundesliga besides the game in the Champions League. They got eliminated from the DFB Cup as well. It doesn't sound to me as if they are performing well.

Never, no way! Wink This is not an option for Real Madrid to leave it as it is with Mbappe. I remember how often it was Mbappe who scored goals against Real Madrid. In all of the last three matches the encounters were very close and each time it was Mbappe who contributed a goal. And it wasn't just about the goals scored, but about how dangerous he was during the whole games. It would be reckless by Real Madrid to not sign him when they get the chance to do so.
I see in the news that Real Madrid have already agreed on Mbappe's transfer to Real Madrid, but I can't understand whether these are just rumors, or have they already decided everything? Mbappe will receive 35 million euros a year and will be Real Madrid's highest paid player. And it seems that the transition will only be possible in the summer, when his contract with PSG ends. Real Madrid just want this player on their team, I doubt they are too worried about him scoring against them again.
Reports like this will continue to exist it seems in every transfer but if the rumors are unfounded or don't come from some clear sources like Fabrizio or some reliable sources I'm actually quite doubtful about the news. I don't mean to discriminate against this, it's just that when some rumors from unclear sources are always used as traffic for readers, which makes the rumors more widespread and becomes misinformation.
I think in this case apart from waiting there is nothing that can be done because there is a lot of news to increase traffic which makes the news become confusing so instead of assuming more, it would be better to wait for certainty in January.

Fabrizio Romano is really no clairvoyant... The thing is if someone makes one hundred predictions per year, the chance to get some of it right is quite good. I know that at times he has some info that some here would consider insider info, but he has been wrong often enough. I am not aware of his predictions with respect to Mbappe, but I would deem any source claiming that contracts have essentially been signed are most likely wrong.
554  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is the only currency that has grown the most!! on: December 11, 2023, 11:33:50 PM
It's like they'll approve bitcoin after they've taken actions against FTX & Binance. If approval's declined it's going to have negative impact on price we don't know how much. Bitcoin isn't going to lose gains it's made in 2 months but something's going to happen I hope it won't be dumped.

Nobody can know for sure what the SEC will decide, but I think it is highly unlikely that they will again decline the ETF without setting new deadline or realistic requirements, making clear that this is not a question of years anymore. But if they do decline the ETF applications, I don't think it will have an effect so negative that it would neutralize the gains we have seen this year. I believe that there are things going on behind the scenes that speak for an approval and it hasn't been made public yet.

But for what reason would most people dump it? You could argue that those who are involved with these application processes could dump, but any of these institutions that have sent in these applications are preparing their reserves for the day when these ETFs get approved. They are not getting into Bitcoin only because of a potential ETF product. The times that Bitcoin overreacted to news like that are over. I don't consider 5% a crash. It happens all the time.

But surely there are players in the market who would try to capitalize on leveraged short sales, which may lead to some short-term selling pressure. But other than that Bitcoin's short-term success doesn't depend on the ETF approval. I believe that the downside potential for an ETF decline would be lower than the upside potential for an ETF approval. After all, everyone knows that these ETFs will come one day anyway.

Currently, we see Bitcoin market above $44000, I think it will bring $45000 very soon. Will Bitcoin Touch $50,000 By This December?  What do you think about the way the Bitcoin market is currently growing?

I really think that Bitcoin will grow more and even reach ATH price since there’s nothing to stop them now because we are all get over to FTX and other big crypto companies that got bankrupt.

The only way this current trend will stop is when Bitcoin ETF is denied or when one of the institutional investors such as microstrategy will finally take profit since they are the only entity that has the ability to dump the market using their current holdings but I doubt this will happened soon because they are still accumulating even on the current price which means they are thinking long term.
Even if the bitcoin ETF is denied by the SEC towards next year, bitcoin will still reach its ATH at the right time, nothing will stop it. What the crypto market would experience if Bitcoin ETF is denied is a drastic decline in the price of bitcoin, which with time, the market will bounce back because the demand for the purchase of Bitcoin at a discount price will be much, in an expectation of the bull run to come.

In all the previous crypto bull runs that happened, there was nothing like the approval of bitcoin ETF that helped bitcoin to soar. It does soar on its own after months of halving the season

Huh? If you post this here, it would be best if you also provide a source as I highly doubt that there has been any reliable source stating that they have an agreement. By the way, I think it would not even be allowed to enter into negotiations yet, or is it? I thought there is a rule made by the UEFA that they can only start negotiations if they either inform the other club or wait until a certain period of the player's contract. I think it was something like 6 months left or so. But this is certainly rumors about Mappe and the 35 million.

When? i never heard that if mbappe was blatantly announcing it. Maybe i was wrong or what? As far as i know that if mbappe has been linked to the real madrid but mbappe never shows his intention to join in the real madrid directly.
The main problem why madrid never try to show its interst due to the non sense price of mbappe. PSG was putting very expensive price to get mbappe. This is also the main problem owned by the club. It was also making other teams were not interesting to sign him.

If mbappe's price would be very affordable and im sure there will by many clubs will be interesting to sign him. This is the main problem owned by him at this moment.
That's why mbappe is willing to leave from the club by himself till the end of his contract. It's caused by mbappe can get signing bonus for his own.

I thought Real Madrid have already ruled out their interest over the 24 years old guy, Mbappe and I saw that news all over the internet since the 8th or 9th of last month November when the La Liga giants came out to withdraw their interest at signing Kylian Mbappe publicly so that the public perception over this matter can at least be put into rest.

Subsequently, a news also came out claiming that Mbappe has shown his keen interest at joining the Real Madrid team but the club gave him to the beginning of next year which is the month of January to commit himself else they might not be interested any longer. Other analysts have also pointed the mistakes Mbappe has made for not moving to Real Madrid since then condemning his remain in the Paris Saint Germain
