From what I know about shipping only sender can make an insurance claim.  Going to check on dhl shipping to USA.  What will you put on customs forms if it is shipping to USA?
OK, so then it will be me that will do the insurance claim.
And on the customs form, I would like to suggest to use the description "engineering sample", just like Avalon did.
But feel free to do a better suggestion.

Can you advice on ballpark shipping to the US for 1 unit using DHL or Fedex? (not overnight, most reasonable shipping option that takes less than 1 week)
Since I do not know the exact destination address, it is best if you try to figure out the shipping cost yourself, using the address of DHL Rotterdam as the starting address.

3@15
4@14
I understand your bid, but:
You had already bid 3@15
Your bid of 4@14 is lower than your 3@15 + midwestminer's 1@13.5

I can provide escrow. Please send me a pm when you want to use my service. Ill then send you instructions.
Thanks for your confirmation.

So buyer pays for shipping label but if it's doa or gets lost in international shipping how will insurance be handled?

It's up to the buyer to pay for insurance if wanted and if the unit gets lost, he/she can take the appropriate action. Once the unit is recovered, or the insured value has been paid by the insurance company, the escrow funds can be released to the seller.

I think it's fair that the buyer and seller investigate the doa unit. If it can not be fixed, the doa unit will be shipped back to the seller at the expenses of seller.

Summary of bids till now:
mmitech      4@5
alfabitcoin   2@6
ste0024      4@10
alfabitcoin   1@11
alfabitcoin   1@12

ste0024      3@15
driksson   1@13.1
midwestminer   1@13.5

Since the buyer is always right, I will contact SebastianJu and ask him if he is also willing to do an escrow for this auction.
Like with JohnK, the buyer will pay the fees of SebastianJu, if any.

one at 13.1, sebastianju escrow.
I think you mean 1@13.1 ? Do you mind if I round it down to whole BTC ?
And JohnK is the escrow.
I don't want to make things complicated.

Heh that link doesn't know how to use dd properly - the bs= option is pretty much mandatory if you don't want to take hours doing it.
I always use the -bs (buffer size) option without even thinking about it, so I didn't notice it was missing.
Let MMMm be up to 25% of your internal memory in megabytes(for example 1024m), this is the complete command:
dd if=ts-image.dd of=/dev/diskN bs=MMMm

I confirm that OP has PM'ed me about this, and I agree to be the escrow here. Please PM me when the auction is done, and I'll issue specific signed contracts to all parties involved.
Thanks John. Could you please inform the potential buyers here about your fee, so they know upfront ?

Ok, I think my SD card is messed up now.
I reloaded the image and booted Pi up, a bunch of errors etc.

Now it's asking me for root password for maintenance

Did you try the password ... root ?
551  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: **US** BitFury Setup Guide on: September 20, 2013, 11:45:27 AM
Well, rebooted my Pi today and

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rk9v8hcxwvvp3rc/2013-09-20%2007.16.34.jpg

Does that mean reload the SD card?

Whats the proper way to reload the card?
Yes, your sd card has read errors. You might even want to get a new sd card.
Which image to use depends on your M-board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=288109.0
How to write the image to your sd card depends on your OS: http://www.embeddedarm.com/support/faqs.php?item=10

6. Once you've found it, you should be in the root directory("cd /mnt/<devicename>/").  Do these commands:
sudo sed -i 's/10.10.11.249/192.168.1.249/' etc/network/interfaces
sudo sed -i '/s/255.0.0.0/255.255.255.0/' etc/network/interfaces
sudo sed -i '/s/10.1.1.1/192.168.1.1/' etc/network/interfaces
1) I have a Windows PC. So if i boot from USB, will i be able to write to the SD card and modify the network config.?
2) I have a Macbook pro which has a SD card reader. Has anyone got an idea as to what steps i need to follow to make changes to the SD card in mac (if it is possible).

Thanks,
Q1: Step 6 from JaredR26 above is modifying the network config.
Q2: If you have an sd card available, download the image, write it to the sd and put the sd card in your mac. Then check the Finder to see if it mounted the card. If it did, go to the etc/network directory. Is there an interfaces file ?

if i come it s to paid in €uros

i would buy 2 or 3 depend on price

but if only btc it s dead for me. too long to buy alot of btc
If you can agree with these terms, we can have a deal:
You bid in BTC and pay cash in Euro's.
The Euro amount will be BTC bid multiplied by Eurozone exchange rate on https://bitpay.com/bitcoin-exchange-rates
We will go to the bank together to deposit the Euro's, to prevent counterfeit Euro's.

Ok, I understand the objections against a 10 day auction. So I am changing it into a 4 day auction:

Auction end date changed to Tuesday September 24, 14:00 CET.

Timer removed. End time: 2013-09-24+12:00:00UTC
556  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: 4 black Avalons, batch 2, 3 modules each, ~80GH/s each;25BTC buy it now on: September 20, 2013, 10:34:37 AM
10 day is a real long auction in Bitcoin terms, and 25BTC price for buy it now is way unrealistic and is a rip-off

I would like to bid but I do not know what will happen in 10 days, and I do not want to be the person who wont honor his word, I suggest you reduce it to 3 days so we can all bid on short market conditions.
I also don't know what will happen in 10 days, you can start by taking a 30% difficulty increase for the next change.

I will think about reducing to 3 or 5 days, let me first read the other posts.

hi

possible to come in NL to collect and paid in cash ?
That is possible, as long as the cash payment is in BTC.

Some images of the board:
Very nice, pity about the commercial price of what once started as a great DIY project.
559  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: September 20, 2013, 09:46:44 AM
sudo sed -i '/s/10.1.1.1/192.168.1.1/' etc/network/interfaces
You need to insert a step here:
Unmount the sd card, so the changes get flushed to the card.

Once that is done, pull the SD card out and try to boot your rPI.
