541  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Drake's Curse. on: October 19, 2023, 10:17:15 PM
I would like to add something.
If part of the Drake's curse is to become a celebrity and getting sponsorships from the biggest crypto casino in the market, then I would not mind to have a curse like that.  Wink

I would not even mind if my luck starts to eat away when comes to gambling and sportbetting, as long as the sponsor keep coming and continue to get contracts within the industry.
What about you? Would you like to be cursed like Drake, who can burn millions of dollars and not even flinch about it?

Even if half the money comes for the casino as sponsor, I would sleep tight at night with such "bad luck"  Tongue

That must be some curse if the recipient keeps on living the good life while making even more money. Is there a waiting list somewhere? Sign me up for some of Drakes sweet sweet curse. haha
Asides his endorsement deal, he still has enough money of his own to do whatever he pleases and can still afford not to lose any sleep over it if/when he losses any of his high stake bets.

Perhaps, the curse doesn’t allow one who’s cursed ever run out of money irrespective of how much is spent and lost in high stake bets.
542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 19, 2023, 08:51:10 PM
I think it's obvious to everyone that this league would not be the best place for his son to start a real professional career. Moreover Ronaldo himself has repeatedly said that he is not happy with his son's attitude to sport etc, because he can't keep discipline, so who knows what will come out of him in football. In fact, you can count on your fingers the number of footballers who have continued the work of his father with the same success and Ronaldo Jr. will be very difficult to reach the same heights

It may not the best league for some to start a real professional career like the one Ronaldo probably aspires for his kid. But nevertheless, he’s got to start someplace. And a starting point could quickly be forgotten if the talent and skills for the sport is there.

Besides, I think it wouldn’t be too difficult to get his kid a spot in any club he wants as the kid actually has got some talent in the sport. I guess only time would tell if he has the spunk he father had and still do throughout his football career.
543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Awareness - Welcoming New Bitcoiners with $1 Worth of Sat in Cameroon on: October 19, 2023, 07:47:07 PM
Good move OP and to your team in trying to spread the word and creating some much needed awareness about bitcoin. It can be difficult in trying to get people to keep an open mind in order to learn something new. With bitcoin that has had mischief makers, over the years actively spread falsehoods and misconceptions, it can be hard getting through to people so I applaud you and your team for taking out the time and making such efforts to engage with and enlighten people.

Having taught about creating wallets and the need to safeguard them, I think it was a nice gesture to end the discussions by letting them have a dollars worth in their wallets. It might have been a new experience as well as motivating.
544  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: October 19, 2023, 05:53:24 PM

You're right, it really helps if the adds, websites and anything else related to gambling are blocked, but I don't think that's enough.

For me, we can't really prevent them from knowing about gambling, it's better to give them an idea of how harmful gambling is for children so they don't try it anymore.

I doubt parents can be fully aware or have total control of what their children are doing and being exposed to. Children, perhaps being in a haste to grow up are quick to copy and imitate actions and behaviors from adults around.

Children can also get more curious about things parents visibly try to keep away from them and having parental control over what shows on television they can see or sites on the web deemed inappropriate can for a while, have the desired effect, it cannot fully suppress a young curious mind.

We obviously shouldn’t do or say certain things with kids around. But we also cannot shield them from the ugliness of society forever. We should be more open to them as they grow about actions and the consequences that could follow.
545  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 19, 2023, 03:19:15 PM
Because Chelsea's advantage only lies in playing at home, this will still make it difficult for Chelsea to win because their opponents are much better than them in strength. Arsenal is very determined to win the match at Chelsea's home because Arsenal is very close to the top of the standings so Arsenal's enthusiasm will probably be very passionate at Chelsea's home because Arsenal really wants to win with a lot of scores in this match.

I personally don’t think playing at home is that much of an advantage. It alone certainly won’t help win the game for the club. Playing at home may have some certain perks but when going up against a much tougher opponent, those perks may not make any impact.
In this case, Arsenal is in a much better form than Chelsea and despite Chelsea playing at home, I don’t really see how that could give them an edge over their opponents who presently, are seemingly better.
The possibility, no matter how slim it may seem, of Chelsea having a win also cannot be ruled out but I just don’t think they’ve presently got what it takes to win Arsenal.
546  Economy / Economics / Re: Dangers of combining company and personal funds in the same account on: October 18, 2023, 11:58:37 PM
It’s only natural to keep separate accounts for your business, no matter how small it is and your personal use. As a business owner, having your funds meant for business in the same account as your personal account is an invitation for disaster sooner or later.

At the very least, a business should keep a separate account so you’ll have clear records involving your debit and credit transactions and also precise information about how good or poorly your business is faring.
A business owner managing an account for business and personal use could likely use funds meant for business purpose for personal use.

The number of graduates from universities is increasing rapidly, but what about the decreasing number of jobs?
In my country, there are more job seekers than people building their own businesses, so the unemployment rate is higher.

We live in a fast paced world and we constantly strive to keep up with certain changes or get left behind   Things aren’t the same as they were 50 years ago.

With the advent of new technology and machinery, it’s not entirely surprising to have jobs less and less available as the time goes by. We’ve got machines that could efficiently handle the workload of 5 people without having errors not taking breaks. To achieve a higher level of productivity, machines are now used in carrying out various tasks humans once did.
Having more people enter the job market every year with very little new jobs being created would certainly give rise to the rise in unemployment rates.

548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 18, 2023, 10:19:15 PM

The glaziers don't have any plans for Manchester united, they're gradually turning into a mediocre team, instead of the glaziers to sell to a bidder that would invest in the club and take them back to glory days, they prefer to sell to someone that would own 25% shares in the club and then they retain owner, control the comercial aspect of the club and continue milking them like they've been doing over the years. .

I’m also thinking along the same lines. The Glazers don’t seem to have concrete future plans for Man United other than to continue to make some money off it.
I’m not sure why open bids for the sale of the club are presented and welcomed if they still want to maintain their hold on the club.

It sure would be great to have massive new investments that could help enable the club to have a feel of the glory they once enjoyed. It seems the current owners can only do so much and perhaps a new owner is what is needed for the club.
549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ? on: October 18, 2023, 09:37:24 PM
Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ?

If the opinions of random people and associates doesn’t really matter to you, the opinions of your significant other should be, at the very least be taken into consideration.

As a family, your shame or glory also rubs off on your partner. Sometimes, we can be oblivious or purposefully dismissive to the negative effects our habits brings and what better person to notice all these and try to call you to order than your partner.
Communication is important in a healthy relationship and putting aside your pride to listen to opinions from your partner could grow and strengthen your relationship and trust in each other.
550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Relying on gamble wins is dangerous to mental health on: October 17, 2023, 02:57:44 AM
Even though gambling winning is very sweet, it is very risky relying solely on it. It is always better to make gambling a means of passive income and not a full time job. Gambling requires funding and when there is no stable income, there will be a huge impact on the psychology especially when there is serious loss that is always possible in gambling.

I’d prefer not to see gambling as a means where any type of income can be generated. It’s best if you place a bet leisurely and with an open mind, definitely not anxious and overly hoping for a win. That way, when you win, you would feel very happy and thrilled irrespective of the amount won.
Gambling does requires funding and when taken as a side gig with very high hopes for some extra income to be made, then you’ll sooner or later find yourself funneling a large chunk of your main income into gambling having renewed unrealistic hope that the big win is within reach until you get wrecked financially.
551  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One of ways to identify scams on: October 16, 2023, 11:59:33 PM
Scammers are also trying to be innovative and are always looking for new ways rob people of their funds. When making a purchase from an online store, it’s best to keep to and buy reputable and known stores.
Greed in people is mostly what gets them scammed of their money as people are lured in with what they stand to gain. You’re on an online store and the prices of items are looking too good and too cheap to be true, it most likely is but that wouldn’t stop some people despite knowing how much those items actually cost.

We easily trust without having to confirm things for ourselves and without greed clouding our minds and thoughts, some research online would easily reveal mistakes from scam deals and websites.
552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 16, 2023, 11:36:48 PM
I remember there were several players who deliberately did not play at their best because they didn't like the coach. They played so badly that the coach was sacked for poor performance, it worked and I really wonder if that scenario was thought of by a handful of Manchester United players? If that exists, then I'm sure that in the end Ten Hag will be fired even though he managed to lead Manchester United to qualify for the current Champions League.

The responsibilities of a coach of a team is huge. The manager would be held responsible for any poor performance from his players as he is expected to be able to do whatever he can to always bring out the best in the abilities of his players.
A handful of  players who deliberately choose not play at their best cause they have some grievances and don’t like the coach won’t be good for the teams overall performance and the coach is the one would bear the majority of the fault for the poor performance as well as the glory and praise for good performance and consistent wins.

I’m also quite certain that Ten Hag would be replaced later on if there isn’t any significant improvement in the performance of the team.
553  Economy / Economics / Re: How to reduce the price of goods on: October 16, 2023, 10:59:36 PM
The problem of increasing transportation costs is very often the cause and this is very clearly influenced by the increase in fuel prices so that it also has an impact on increasing prices for all other goods that are often consumed by all people. This really needs to be given better attention by the government because I am sure that not all people are ready to face this unbalanced economic situation in the long term. Moreover, the core of the problem has also been well detected, namely the increase in fuel prices in each country.

An increase in energy prices which would in turn, affect the transportation of goods and raw materials could very well have a hand in the rise in the prices of goods. But I doubt it’s often the cause of rise in prices. Not trying to downplay the fact that cost of transportation could also affects prices but money spent in the purchase of raw materials as well as the actual production costs are more likely to affect the prices of goods.

Monopoly has more negative sides than positive ones, however, it also has positive ones. Let's start with the first ones. Monopoly means that the manufacturer or management has no competition, it means that the quality of services or products will probably not develop, because no one will be able to overtake you by providing a better service. The positive side is that if the monopoly is reasonable, then it allows you to create an order and a quality bar, but this is a rare phenomenon.

Monopoly in the market has just one advantage to the consumer that I can think of. Stable prices of goods. Without a healthy competition, there wouldn’t be much use to be innovative. Companies wouldn’t have much interest in increasing the standard and quality of goods produced and would be more focused on increasing the quantity, hence the stable prices.
Monopoly in the market is not good as the sole organization that enjoys monopoly would be raking in profits at the expense of the consumer.

554  Economy / Economics / Re: Young people needs productive mindset to be happy in life on: October 16, 2023, 10:29:51 PM
Expectations.. I’ve come to realize that expectations most likely would bring about disappointments.
A lot of people go on to study and graduate with high expectations of being employed in a good paying job working mostly in the civil service and paid by the government. But with thousands of graduates leaving colleges and universities and entering the job market looking to the government to provide jobs, there’s not enough vacancies to cater for everyone.

The number of people who go on to study and graduate from colleges and universities today has, to a large extent increased than fifty to sixty years ago. So naturally, jobs spaces would become more competitive as more graduates are available for the jobs available. We also shouldn’t be looking to the government for jobs.

I think young and old alike would live a more happy life if we have less expectations from people and the government.

555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 16, 2023, 10:08:19 PM
I think that Kevin De Bruyne's absence will be felt even more in the Champions League. I mean that the group stage is comfortable for them of course as they don't have very tough opponents. But when they face title contenders in the later stages they would feel the absence of him surely.

Because there has been a really great cooperation between him and Erling Haaland especially. He has been creating so many goal chances for Haaland so far. He is an amazing player with his passes and impressive shots as well. Foden is trying to make up for De Bruyne but their playing styles are very different. Foden is more selfish than De Bruyne.

In my opinion, his absence is noticed in the EPL and would definitely be noticed in the champions league. The group stages were easy enough as they didn’t face a major threat that could hinder them from reaching the finals and possibly winning it too.

I think Haaland is not finding it that easy to score a lot of goals as one would expect. De Bruyne, who would have located and given Haaland some beautiful passes to enable the lad score goals is out of action.
Both players are in sync on the pitch and that coordination between them and in general, the rest of the team yields positive results. I have little doubts that Man City, without De Bruyne is still a formidable opponent.
556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Drake's Curse. on: October 16, 2023, 07:21:08 PM

The Drake's Curse.

He lost on the right man. We have experienced losses but not as bad as this...this is just terrible.

What do the gambling folks have to say about this?

Drake’s curse? Not sure about that. I wouldn’t see this loss or even his total losses as a curse.
He losses his bets sometimes just like any other person who gambles. Perhaps what would seem remarkable in this case is the amount of money he uses to play. I think it’s pretty obvious to everyone that the higher the bet, the higher the amount to be won. Drake, having a considerably high net worth, is a high stake gambler and he knows the risks involved. This isn’t his first rodeo.

I don’t have much to say about this loss. He probably wouldn’t lose any sleep over this loss so why should anyone?
Amongst his other wins, he had won 2.7 million when he had bet on Israel Adesanya. There is no Drakes Curse.
557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 16, 2023, 05:36:32 PM

Tony Kroos can be an interesting search for Manchester City. You know he is still a great player, even though he is thinking about his retirement. And I believe he is definitely going to perform well even though he is not very young anymore. Yes, I also think that Manchester City will be able to use him properly.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Real Madrid is using him badly. If anything, Real Madrid is using him the best. But as he is already thinking about retirement, it will probably be a good journey for him to join Manchester City and achieve something with another club as well.

I doubt Pep would give much thought about bringing in Toni Kroos to the club. He’s no doubt a superb player with a lot of experience under his belt. But like you noted, he may be thinking about retirement having had a successful career.
Despite being an experienced player that could boost City’s squad, I doubt Pep would spend some good money in bringing him in only to have him play one or two seasons.

I bet the Saudi league would be pooling in money in a bid to attract him to come over whenever he leaves Madrid.
558  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: October 13, 2023, 05:05:34 PM

So be wiser in gambling, don't put too high expectations there because obviously all the opportunities that are there are just temptations so that you continue to play and there is also absolutely no guarantee to be able to win, but to lose I'm sure it will definitely continue to dominate. Basically everything in gambling is just your speculation that is too much and too hopeful. So therefore gamble naturally, do not pursue anything and you can come just for fun, even if you are lucky, the victory will come by itself.

I’d prefer not to have any expectations and it’s best to just keep an open mind. That way, you won’t be really pained when you lose and it would be a pleasant surprise when you win.
Expectations, in my opinion brings disappointment. Someone having little or no expectations from anyone is likely not to get disappointed whenever things doesn’t go as planned.

Keeping your emotions in check is also important as our feelings could likely influence our actions. And in most cases, those actions fueled by out emotions would later be regretted. Keeping a clear head would make way for logical thinking.
559  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: October 13, 2023, 04:32:48 PM
I honestly have never thought it wise to retire early even if I have made the whole money in the world, in my own assertion, i would say that its only lazy people, people without vision that think that retiring early is actually an achievement, for me, it is absolutely not, not when i have dreams, and even when I keep accomplishing those dreams, more dreams keep coming.

I know we all are entitled to our different opinions and I honestly respect everybody's opinion on this subject of discussion, but for somebody like me, I have no dream of retiring early, how much money I have made is not a factor to consider, and neither is my achievements a factor as well, life will be so boring if I ever have to sit around doing nothing, even in old age.

Making the decision to retire early shouldn’t be considered foolish and isn’t a sign of laziness. There are folks who are only too happy to work but were forced into retirement due to having a serious injury or some health conditions that could prevent them from actively working.

I would admit that retirement could get extremely boring when you’re idle and have a lot of free time on your hands. But with that free time, you can do what you’ve been meaning to do but couldn’t get around to doing it cause of work engagements. That’s why a lot of people plan to retire early so they’ll still have the energy to actually enjoy retirement doing other things they love.

Unfortunatelly when the good in question is food, it's hard to apply law of supply and demand rationally. Everyone needs food to survive in a matter of every few hours, at least. Therefore, there is a constant unstoppable demand for it. Moreover, it's not that simple to produce your own food if you don't have the necessary tools and enough space, besides having a central authority controlling the flux of food coming in and out, so the supply is really limited. This is the recipe for disaster, and unless citizens find a creative way to bypass the government's overcontrol, there is nothing to do besides paying a high price to survive or starving till death.

I think the prices of goods and commodities, even food items being influenced by the forces of demand and supply is rational. If a demand for a product is constantly increasing over time and the supply not being able to match it, there would be an increase in price. It’s only logical.
You also actually don’t need a space the size of two football fields nor the latest farming equipment to plant foods for personal consumption.

This doesn’t diminish the importance of food but It may surprise you that a well hydrated human body can survive for about two to three weeks without having anything to eat.
