541  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The worst situation you're in that you regret that you learn about gambling on: January 21, 2024, 06:53:10 AM
Gambling addiction is something a lot of people fall into unknowingly to them. Most of the time , they fail to notice Their mistakes and addiction until when it has gotten to the point where so much damage has already been done. As the head of a family gambling is what a majority of responsible bread winners stay clear from because of its effects on the family indirectly.

Most of the time, when parents drift into gambling addiction the kids also end up with a similar fate of addiction or even worse. Sometimes parents cut off gambling in bad situations. Some parents who can't help but gamble try to hide it from their family but unfortunately when the family finds out, it may break them emotionaly.
542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what sort of btc transaction results in a visible price move on btc ? on: January 20, 2024, 06:35:37 PM
Conjestions in the mempool simply means there are a lot of transactions waiting to be confirmed on the mempool. So because of that transaction fees will increase because people will now have to kind of bid for block space for their transactions. Those with higher fees will be confirmed first before those with lower fees.

So since everyone wants their transactions confirmed quickly people being to use larger fees for the block space their transaction occupies , making it to take almost forever for transactions with low fees to be confirmed.
543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what sort of btc transaction results in a visible price move on btc ? on: January 20, 2024, 05:24:47 PM
Well transactions on the Bitcoin network affects the price of Bitcoin minimally. Significant changes in Bitcoin price can be as a result of conjestions on the mempool.
Most times price is also influenced by adoption rate and hodling rate. If all whales should suddenly sell most of their Bitcoins, the price of Bitcoin will definitely go down. And the more people hodl it becomes scarce and thus the price increases. Many other factors like halving and ordinals can also affect Bitcoin price.
544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best way to spend BTC from an Electrum wallet with privacy? on: January 20, 2024, 10:05:36 AM
Well if we are talking about privacy here I will say the best choice is an HD wallet.
In my opinion if I was the one in such situation I would simply use a mobile wallet like mycelium since I would be spending that $200 mycelium can easily mask your wallet balance since it would generate another wallet using your master key.

546  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be deceived!! on: January 19, 2024, 02:09:38 PM

It looks like you are using the wrong terminology here, or are shitcoiners actually calling it "mining" these days? I don't really follow that drama!

Mining is the process of performing real work using your real hardware with your real hashrate which means how much coin the miner mines is fixed and can not go up based on how many additional "victims" they've referred Tongue

Yes mining requires some hard ware and electricity to run but unfortunately these scammers use the term mining to refer to their shitcoins. It blinds the eyes of crypto newbies into thinking it's something big like Bitcoin but unfortunately it isn't.

The KYC scam that became popular during 2017 ICO craze is their way of maximizing their profit by selling "gamblers" personal information on darknet.

Sale of KYC data on the dark net is something that happens on a somewhat regular basis. It is so unfortunate that a lot of persons are so careless with their KYC information that they easily give them out to scam projects.  Just like BitMaxz mentioned some of these KYC information that are not sold are eventually used as details to aid the scamming of these careless users.
547  Other / Beginners & Help / Don't be deceived!! on: January 19, 2024, 12:56:54 PM
A lot of altcoiners are always excited about the release of a new crypto currency that they rush into promoting and mining these altcoins which at the end of the day turn out to dip exponentially when they are listed on various exchanges or when they are lunched on their mainnets.
Of course mining these coins isn't a bad thing but unfortunately most of these coins are  scam projects. A lot of these developers create these coins as a profit only scheme for themselves and the earliest adopters. so in order to make profit they carry out the famous pump and dump.
During the pump period of the coin the developers and creators of these coins give the coin a high value which would look very promising and therefore draw more people into the adoption circle. Alot of These people fail to understand that since these coins are on a testnet, they are some what of no value.

Now how do they trick these so called miners?

During this pump period people who troop into mining these coins per say are willing to do anything possible so they could acquire as much  of the coin as possible. Therefore these developers introduce a referral and KYC scheme.
Here is the catch ;
these miners refer as much people as they can so they can increase their mining rate and their coins, which on the other hand brings more profit to the developers. Now the more people troop in to accumulate the coins the more KYC Data the developers can accumulate. These creators can later sell these data for their profit in the future.

And then comes the dump period here the coin is eventually launched and listed on  few exchanges and boom a coin which during mining was said to have a value of over $10- $20  drops to just a couple of cents making the average adopters accumulated coins to be nearly useless.

To further trick people to buying these coins after the launch, the devs and creators make up articles and stock charts insinuating that Bitcoin was just a few cents during its launch but it now has a value of over $43k so people should endeavor to buy much of these coins and hold them for a long while hoping that it would eventually rise like Bitcoin over time which is a lie.

Why waste  your time and risk your KYC data on the shitcoins?  when you can actually easily understand and hodl Bitcoin which is safer and decentralized. Don't be deceived that such coins in the future will turn out to be like Bitcoin.
There are many scam projects out there so make sure to research and most importantly avoid KYC.
Remember don't forget to keep your keys safe!!

Firstly congratulations to you Hewlet on achieving your full member rank.

I remember sometime ago when I hit my first 7 days of login on Bitcoin talk I was so excited that I also made a similar post on the reputation board. However although some members congratulated me some actually gave me some sort of advice like that of _act_ and lovesmayfamilis which actually meant you mustn't create posts like this everytime you achieve something because if everyone does there would be too much spam posts all over the reputation and meta board.

Good riddance o_e_l_e_o.  No one else I've interacted with on this forum has done more damage to the future of Bitcoin and future of freedom than you.  Even after your involvement with the Chipmixer scam, you knowlingy spread continuous lies about privacy weaknesses in Bitcoin that do not exist. Your scheme of tricking people into giving up their data and stealing their coins will finally come to an end.
I see no sense in this.
Death is never a good thing even if Leo had offended you indirectly in the past you should at least bid him a farewell based on his condition. Not everyone is strong enough to fight cancer for over a decade.

Besides that you have no proof to what you are saying. And for the record Leo was so much help to me during my newbie journey especially when it came to protecting my coins.

Behaving like this on the forum shows you would do worse in reality.
550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 18, 2024, 06:57:43 AM
Reality check: There is no guarantee that you can win the bets and make money that can be used to restore whatever you are hoping would restore and thinking in that way is wrong and which is what leads for someone to gamble for wrong reasons. Glorifying win can lead to destruction of many and the one individual who won may not disclose about how many times he lost while doing for the same reason. But you bet and won an amount that is considerably big then make use of it something more useful than just spending on booze and girls.

This actually depends on the personality of the gambler. Some gamblers when they make wins can actually take note of their spendings and use them on useful things. However some others will definitely probably spend them on unimportant things like booze just like you mentioned.

Most times in reality when gamblers hit a jackpot,  the end up spending those funds in an unwise manner. It is common with most humans to value what they struggled for rather than what came easy. It takes a great deal of discipline and self sense of goal to spend such funds wisely. However that is not to say gambling wins can't restore certain things because it actually can.
551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you pay attention on other people bet and it amount, and does it affect you? on: January 18, 2024, 06:49:50 AM
Checking out bets by other gamblers especially on online casinos is a normal thing most gamblers usually do. In many cases in can help them calculate certain things like winning chances with high odds and cash out of the casino to its users. It can even sometimes serve as a form of guide to help them stake responsibly and also stake the right amount.

It is also important to truyas much as possible to avoid being too optimistic when one sees high stakes with high wins accompanying it. This is because it could blur the gambler's reasoning making him stake excess especially if he is a greedy one.

553  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 17, 2024, 07:41:38 PM
Yes gambling wins can bring about a whole lot of joy and relief. Definitely when a gambler makes wins he would be very happy especially in cases where he never thought he would. Sometimes when gamblers stake they put little belief in the amount they may win especially when the odds of winning are thin.

This is not to say that gamblers should put too much hope when they stake as there are always chances of losses and sometimes even when These chances are low the gambler could still end up with a loss. One should try not to put too much hope on the wins and also endeavor to stake responsibly.

559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: January 16, 2024, 10:13:55 AM
This is definitely a very good gambling advice. Gambling in terms of win and loss is usually a 50/50 chance which is a nice odd on winning but also risky on the side of losses.
It is very important for gamblers to take into consideration what they may lose if they eventually loss a stake.

However most times gamblers fail to do that because they sometimes keep a blind eye to the effects of the loss and focus only on the possible win. When staking in a luck based game it is important to also consider your chances of losing as a guide for the right amount to stake.
Addicts in some occasions can even stake heavily when they are aware that the have a very thin chance of winning. This is a very wrong practice.
560  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not a means to an end, Do it for fun and don't take it as a job on: January 16, 2024, 09:11:58 AM
Taking gambling too serious is a bad idea and has a negative influence on the gambler himself. Gambling is definitely not a job that someone would take so serious to the extent he wakes up in the morning, dresses up and the off to the casino like an office.

Gambling is supposed to be a fun activity done possibly during leisure. so when someone takes it too serious they could end up being an addict who just can't help but gamble even when he is not supposed to.

Sometimes gambling addictions rise up as a result of dependence on gambling as a source of income or livelihood. That is the reason people are advised to gamble responsibly.
