541  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Looking for broken laptops/laptop parts (Canada) on: March 23, 2017, 10:34:13 PM
how old of stuff are you interested in? I think I've a couple ancient laptops(95/xp/me) I could strip down and send you.

I've also a couple pieces of ram as well.

I guess I should have clarified, probably nothing that old because I'm trying to fix laptops from oh, 2008-2014 range. I had an ancient 2002 Dell Inspiron 2600 that I stripped down and I literally couldn't use a single part. I ended up just popping open the dead hard drive to play with the innards. It had a PATA hard drive, the ram was sooo ancient that it was unusable (128MB either in each stick or 56MB each. I didn't bother looking too hard into it) and a good old floppy disk drive. I guess what I'd be looking for would be new enough laptop parts that I could use them in modern laptops. SATA hard drives, small SATA SSDs or mSATA SSDs DDR3 RAM, that kind of stuff. I'm very new to this so I don't exactly know for sure what I'm looking for, but probably nothing that ancient.
542  Economy / Computer hardware / Looking for broken laptops/laptop parts (Canada) on: March 23, 2017, 02:58:05 PM
I've recently become very interested in fixing laptops as a hobby and anything that can't be fixed I try to use in some other way. I've got a few on the go right now but to be honest I'm pretty much out of projects and looking for something to do.

My budget on this is basically nil as it's just a hobby (for now...?) but if you have something kicking around let's make a mutually beneficial deal.

What I'm interested in:

Working mSATA, SATA, SATA II, SATA III hard drives or SSDs
DDR2, DDR3 RAM
Laptops with ports not working (ex. HDMI, USB, AC)
Laptops with dead/broken screens
Laptops with no screens

Do you have something else that I didn't list? Let me know and we'll see if its something I'm interested in.
543  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Computer parts + Laptop [EU] on: March 23, 2017, 02:44:40 AM
I have a few laptops for sale at the moment but I'm in Canada so I'd have to assume shipping would be terrible. Unless you're looking for a Chromebook haha. It might not be too bad for shipping.
544  Economy / Services / Re: Take a 4 minute survey about crypto exchanges for 0.005BTC on: March 22, 2017, 11:19:09 PM
Ah too bad I missed it. I was done then it said it hit the max amount of users. I'm always happy to help out with answering surveys whether there's a reward or not. I guess this is a good way to get more responses.
545  Other / Off-topic / Re: How gullible are you? on: March 21, 2017, 05:38:34 PM
Everyone is gullible to some degree - it's necessary for imagination.
It's necessary for survival. Children instinctively believe anything an adult tells them, which is helpful when they're told why they shouldn't play in traffic, but less helpful when they're told that they were created by an invisible genocidal psychopath who will torture them without end if they don't do exactly what He wants, and that He wants them not to question anything. Of course, gullibility declines with age, so once such an idea is implanted in a child's brain, it's almost impossible to remove in adulthood.

Hey hey hey that's not true. Some of us went to these cults until our parents said we could make our own choices and we never went back! All that stuck was "Thank god..." and "Bless you" when someone sneezes. Which at this point in humanity is just politeness. Once you figure out your parents lied to you about the Easter Bunny, Santa and the Tooth fairy it's fairly obvious that the magic spaghetti monster in the sky isn't something you actually need to worry about. The problem where I live is that the older generation thinks that if you go to cult church you're a good person. If you don't go you're a bad person. It's actually hilarious when these horrible people go to cult church every Sunday but they're overall the worst people out there.

How gullible am I? Over time, with the invention of the internet I've become way less gullible. I question everything and everyone online. Especially on this forum because everyone is trying to make a bitcent. I've also learned from bitcoins that just because your computer system seems secure because no one has hacked your useless email or facebook doesn't mean that they won't steal your bitcoins as soon as you have a balance. I trust absolutely no one with my bitcoins which is the best part about them, I never have to.
546  Economy / Reputation / Re: Quartx & Timelord2067 - are gossips and a liar on: March 21, 2017, 04:43:32 PM
Saying you're an alt of someone else doesn't necessarily mean you're doing something illegal or shady. It's just so the community is aware that they are (or in some cases could potentially be) alts. The reason this is done is that if one of these accounts scams they all get tagged right away and the scammer doesn't get off with much. It's not personal. It's to protect the community from nefarious people.
547  Other / Meta / Re: Hundreds of thousand of bitcointalk accounts hacked on: March 21, 2017, 04:39:27 PM
Looks like nobody really gives a damn about this forum nor the infestation of parasites. Undecided

I think the problem isn't that no one cares, it's that the people that do care aren't listened to/taken seriously/not important enough to listen to.

When is this new forum coming out? I guess it doesn't really matter what the date is at this point because it's been a WIP for so long that the date will most likely be pushed again. Q2 2019 is my guess.
548  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sub $1000, now what? on: March 18, 2017, 04:03:19 PM
People saying that it's because there's a sell off to buy altcoins, you do realize that the amount bitcoins have dropped is far more than those altcoins are worth in total right? This is just normal fluctuation. The price was a bit inflated and it's settling back down to where the real value is. I just hope we're not in a bear market now.
549  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: March 17, 2017, 08:01:07 PM
I know the wiki lists a good amount of GPUs and how they perform but does anyone have another list or anywhere else where more GPUs were consolidated showing their performances? I'm still looking for some casual address finding of my own and my CPU won't cut it if I need anything 5 characters or higher (case sensitive).
550  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: March 10, 2017, 05:15:38 PM
ExploitAgency I'm intrigued. I'm trying to compile your fork on Linux Mint but I've only ever used vanitygen on Windows (Mainly because that's the only OS I was able to get it up and running on). Is there a quick guide somewhere with the commands we'll need in terminal? I'm definitely a total newb at this.

Edit: I'm just looking through your github and see some instructions. I'm definitely a newb.

is there an estimated rate of finding?

Sort of. There's an estimate as to when you'll have about a 50% chance of finding a key. I've had private keys that were found after a few percent and I've had some that were found at 98%. Once you start it'll give you an estimate as to how long it will take to get to a 50% chance of finding a key.

Has anyone set up their own external GPU rig? I've been looking into DIYing it but don't have any experience with builds. I'm still hoping to get a decent GPU to create some vanity addresses.

im sure its exactly the same as setting up a gpu mining rig..

but i dunno why you would want to spend money setting up a rig to create vanity addresses. ??

I have 2 vanity rigs going 24/7 and they have been for the last 3 years.  Although I do it mainly to generate sequential vanity addresses for my Minted Seat coins.

Any tips on do's and don't when making a vanity rig? I guess I could look into guides for making GPU miners and it would essentially be the same.

Unlike coin miners you get more power using full 16x slots and extensions out of vanitygen, so I heard.

Great. Everything helps as I'm starting with pretty much zero knowledge. I've fixed laptops but never built anything like this.
554  Economy / Reputation / Re: [User Generated] - Known alts of anyone on: March 05, 2017, 09:44:22 PM
I just found a connection to 3 more accounts so I suggest everyone look deeper into this too. There are most likely more accounts connected.

If you are going to use posts from a long time ago as evidence of a connection, then you need to account for the possibility that an account has been sold since a post was made. In order to rule out this possibility, you should get the archives of the security log to check for password changes, and use good judgment to consider if an account was sold or not.

I'll just post the connection that I find and if the account is sold it's not really my fight to fight. It's the person who bought the account.

It would help if you let us know if you sold any of these accounts in the past.

560  Economy / Speculation / Re: Manipulation finished. Bubble popping. on: March 01, 2017, 09:04:48 PM
Prepare for free fall guys. The manipulators have taken enough of your money for now and will let the price plummet again to 300-500 levels in order to play the same game all over again.

Anyone thinking this is a free market is delusional. 99% of all coins owned by 5 people lol.
And who are these 5 people and if you knew this much you can very well provide their names as well, with this thread it looks like you are delusional to the core ,manipulation in a market is a regular occurrence and traders like to cash in the maximum during these times and even if the price of the coin touches rock bottom traders will find a way to earn money from it.

I don't think the current trends are price manipulation. It is pure, unadulterated, free market.
Price manipulation is illegal and could land you in jail if proven in a court of law.

I consider bitcoin is a rare example of a market not centrally controlled.

I'm sure there are some centralized agencies that have control over some bitcoins and obviously we know that the price will fluctuate based on politics in certain countries. All in all though, yes bitcoins themselves aren't centrally controlled. Mining is more and more centralized all the time though.

Btw what happened to this bubble popping? It seems to me the opposite happened!
