TradeFortress,

Some people who have put great trust in you have raised concerns, please could you take some time to respond.

Most of us have been pretty supportive through the months long losses in share value, and since the asset freeze, but your recent silence is worrying. While the stocks are in turmoil and the Bitfunder clock is ticking, BTCInvest's scheduled update is 3 days late without a word and your last post here was 2 weeks ago.

We can see you're still around, responding to customers of Inputs.io and Coinlenders, but the fate of BTCInvest must worry those customers too. For anyone thinking of investing in you in the future, the single most important thing they should pay attention to is how you steer BTCInvest through this difficult time. The greatest indicator of how much confidence you can have in trusting someone with bitcoins isn't how they act when all is well, but how they respond when things go wrong.

The UK...  They're explicit, in particular, that any conversion from BTC to fiat has to be treated as income tax (for individuals) and revenue (for companies) and can never be claimed as capital gains or investment return.
Is this just for payments that would count as income/revenue if paid in fiat, or for everything? If for everything, is this a new development? Everything I've read on this in the last few months suggested or outright stated that HMRC would treat trading profits denominated in bitcoin as capital gains.

Source?
The source isn't mine to reveal (as I'm not the one who paid for it) - but is credible (i.e. advice from professionals not some forum user's personal opinion).
I haven't spoken to the sources directly, but apparently it's the professional opinion of a UK accountant...

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1h8m2a/my_accountant_on_capital_gains_in_the_uk_on/

...and HMRC themselves...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=143425.msg1827881#msg1827881

that it is capital gains and not income tax.

Depending on which option BTCINVEST takes, it may simplify possible claims processes if you use an Inputs Bitcoin address.

Anyone: what's an "Inputs Bitcoin address"? The only mention of this term coming up in google is the above post. Thanks.

Hi TF,

What's the progress in exploring possible actions?

Also, what was the reason given for the asset freeze, and was there any advance warning? I just ask the last part because BTCInvest was already gone from your signature before everything happened. I was distressed by this at the time for obvious reasons, but it was clearly the right thing to do if it was shortly to cease trading.

Thanks.

The BitFunder events along with other downturns in the investment sector have been very unfortunate, but I'm confident that we can get past that. If you are curious about BTCINVEST in relation to CL, note that we started at 0.1 per share.

I hope so! Most shares were bought for far more than 0.1. Sad
546  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Asset Exchange Marketplace + Rewritable Options Trading on: October 19, 2013, 06:30:35 PM
This is directed at Ukyo but he's rather busy, so till he can reply answers are welcome from anyone else who knows, such as affected issuers.

On 8th October, when the restrictions on U.S. users was revealed, some assets were also frozen on BitFunder. I'm asking about BTCInvest, but NastyFans was frozen too, possibly others.

Why so early and without warning? The nearest I can find to an explanation is this part of the notice from 8th October:

Quote
All assets and issuers must demonstrate that they meet BitFunder's requirements for the listing of assets, or the assets and issuers will, at BitFunder's sole discretion, be denied access to, or removed from, the site. Issuers will be notified of any additional information needed to demonstrate compliance with BitFunder's requirements.

What were these new requirements?

Why was it necessary to freeze the assets immediately, without any direct warning to the shareholders?

How much warning did the issuers get about these new requirements before their assets were frozen?

Thanks for your help.

noone knows if that will do more harm than good
Indeed, and potentially not just for Labcoin.

Maybe we should wait until it's confirmed as a scam before giving them an excuse to quit?

Reality check; what laws did these people break? Labcoin doesnt even exist as a legal entity, and there is no contract that binds anyone.
It's called fraud. Intentional deception made for personal gain.
551  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 08, 2013, 07:15:27 AM
If they own 90%+ of all shares, how can they dump? They would just be dumping into their own hands.

I just suggested a buyback because I reckon only a few hundred thousand shares are left that are not owned by Labcoin and thus it would be much easier at this point in time to just payoff the remainding shares and be done with it.

I see no situation where they need to dump a large amount of shares, they can pull off the scam without needing to.

This is fantasy.

There will still be lots of other shareholders. Ukyo and Burnside say they haven't sold. There also will be lots of people who don't pay attention to the news on a day to day basis, or just can't bring themselves to sell at this point just in case. People in the Labcoin IRC have been cursing Labcoin's name while still talking about holding shares they can't bring themselves to give up on at this price.

Serious question: is there any evidence that Sam is a real person?
553  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 07, 2013, 06:47:15 AM
So labcoin has been looking to replace him for over a month?! No tapeout for the 130nm chip?!  WTF!

Not even a tapeout of the 180nm chip; they dont have anything, and thats even less than I was willing to believe.

On the bright side, no tapeouts and no chips means they had virtually zero expenses. If you are gullible enough to believe serial liars and scammers routinely return their loot to their victims, labcoin should still have almost all of the IPO coins.
'Sam' said they only had about half of the IPO funds left.

Any comment on the email responses from Howard Wang that were posted to IRC and reddit in the last few days?

Are they genuine?

in 5 days all Labcoin has to say is they lost the asset list and it is all over
Why wouldn't Burnside keep a copy of the asset list? At the very least until October 31st, when btc-tc actually closes (as oppose to stops secondary trading).
