541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most "Bitcoin" thing you've done? on: March 24, 2018, 03:02:40 AM
The most Bitcoin thing a person could do is maybe buy drugs from the darknet lol. But the forum doesnt have darknet "explorers" anymore, unlike the early years, or so I have heard. Wink

But I tried to buy a fake ID once but I thought it was a waste of BTC.
542  Economy / Economics / Re: Will future paper money disappear? on: March 24, 2018, 02:45:30 AM
No fiat won't disappear, maybe if poverty is stopped because not everyone could afford to own crypto wallet and others aren't that knowledgeable enough to understand how crypto works. Plus it'll be harder to determine the real value of bitcoin/crypto if fiat suddenly disappears. Paper money still has some pros for example when there's no power in your place.

At some point in the financial system's evolution and the advancement of technologies aiding banks to better serve their customers, paper money will be used less and less until money printing obsoleted.

But what replaces it will not be what you think. It will be a centralized digital currency issued by the central bank which is not private, not immutable and not under your control.
543  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: An innovative technology that can solve the energy problem for mining facilities on: March 24, 2018, 02:35:38 AM
Great share. Ty. But these solutions do not aim to solve the problem itself, wich is the wasteful use of energy and the parasitic and piractic nature of miners.

You may see me as biased in Proof of Capacity but if perfected, I think it will be the answer.

The only cryptocurrency using PoC now is Burst.

i have 75T and do solo  find at lease 1 block a month

Are you running Burst version 1.3.6cg or better? If not then its time that you should. Most of the miners are already mining using Dymaxion supporting pools. As a solo miner, you should start doing so too.

You only risk yourself in being left behind.
With the chart you shown, I think miners should choose pools which support Dymaxion. However, miners should also spread hashrates out by choosing different pools to keep the network healthy generally.

I agree, here's a complete list of the Dymaxion supporting pools. There are more than several of them that are not controlled by the PoCC.

https://www.ecomine.earth/burstpools/

I know some of you may have the impression that the Dymaxion is supported by only the PoCC. This is not true. More than 80% of full nodes are already supporting the Dymaxion upgrades.

546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trump bans Americans from buying the Venezuela Petro crypto-coin on: March 23, 2018, 04:12:37 AM

Second, only an IDIOT would buy the Petro coin in any case, as its value will go in only one direction - down.

No. Not if Venezuela starts requiring payment in Petro to buy crude oil from them. Maybe thats what Trump thinks will come next.

The Russians were also involved in the Petro's creation. I think its only a test run before they start issuing oil backed tokens of their own.

547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A case for Burst's Proof Of Capacity on: March 23, 2018, 03:52:03 AM
A surprising blog from none other than Minergate, one of the largest mining pools around! This doesnt mean that they will become a Burst mining pool anytime soon, but its good that they researched about PoC and its advantages over PoW and PoS.

Why Proof-of-capacity could be the future of cryptocurrency

  • Proof-of-capacity is still very new and underutilized. It may be a while before it is fully recognized for its benefits and implemented into new coins or used as an update for legacy coins like Ethereum ETH and Bitcoin BTC. It certainly deserves our attention at the very least. The ultimate goal of the cryptocurrency movement is to create a decentralized platform that can be used globally to disrupt outdated financial institutions and systems in a secure, autonomous, and shared manner. The proof-of-capacity algorithm shows great potential as a means to reaching that goal. At the same time, it requires around 30 times less power than ASIC-based PoW mining making it the most energy-efficient of the mining protocols. It isn’t hard to imagine how this approach if taken seriously, could change the horizon for cryptocurrency in very exciting ways!

  • Even though there are currently no proof-of-capacity coins available on the MinerGate platform, accessibility has always been the major underlying drive for the team behind MinerGate.com. They have created the most user-friendly and accessible mining platform to date that will help you to mine the currencies best suited for your setup rather than have you competing with unbeatable ASIC farms. MinerGate.com is driven to bringing cryptocurrency to a much wider audience and encouraging their participation in this world-changing technology. As firm believers in the potential of cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies, the MinerGate team is always looking forward to progressive solutions offered by emerging ideas like proof-of-capacity and how to implement these protocols and others into future updates.

I have some Graft coins but I will never risk trading anything in a new, low volume site like TradeOgre. I also dont like the way it looks.

It looks like something that will run away with your coins anytime lol.
550  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 2018 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites on: March 22, 2018, 03:02:56 AM
If Bitmixer was a honeypot then that should make us wary of trusting all mixers altogether. I am not pinpointing any mixer, but its good to make everyone aware of the risks.

For criminals, if they get caught by a honeypot, fine. But ordinary people trying to keep their anonymity should be left alone.

551  Economy / Economics / Re: What happens if bitcoin price falls below the cost of mining it? on: March 22, 2018, 02:57:35 AM

Wouldnt that be a threat to a manufacturer like Bitmain? I think it is in their interest to pump BTC than give up and lose their billion dollar company. I know this is shocking, but Bitmain is already earning billions from ASIC miners.

We have seen this kind of pump done by them during the halving of mining rewards.

Yes - though Bitmain is insulated by the fact there are now so many bitcoin forks for miners to mine - bitcoincash, bitcoingold, etc etc.

But its in the best interest of every ASIC miner involved in cryptocurrencies for BTC to succeed. If it falls it will take every coin with it. Thats why I do not know why some altcoiners are so quick to indicate faults in BTC.
552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: March 22, 2018, 02:52:55 AM
What would the minimum amount of space needed to mine burst efficiently?

At least 50TB but the "fun" begins with 100TB+
Expect no fast ROI if the burst price keeps low.

That's right. 170TB here and not much "fun" at all.
even the price stays the same you should not expect a fast ROI.

If you dont mind, are you mining in a pro-Dymaxion pool by any chance? lol

By the way Burstnation is accusing the PoCC of "stealing" from the miners. This is so stupid, why would the PoCC nuke their trustworthiness and destroy all the hard work they have done for the platform?

https://www.burstnation.com/wbb/index.php?thread/5636-pocc-fuckery-part-1-stealing-from-miners/&pageNo=1

This is Rico666's response to that.

  • Miner built up his rig from 0 - 180 TB in the PoCC pool. And did no mine a single block there. Then - with the 180 TB - he changed pools and hit some blocks in a 80-20 pool. Go figure.

  • I am not sure the level of logical thinking deficiency it requires to call that "stealing from miners", apart from "yes, that miner stole from the 50-50 miners, because as he forged not a single block, all he earned there, was supplied by other miners.

  • Other than that, someone please explain to me the reasons/use case why a pool should somehow prevent the forging of blocks of one or several miners. What sense would that make except the pool hurting itself? Also - as the pool source is available - feel free to look for such a behavior in it.

  • Of course mentioning this story could be thought as "emergency marketing" because at the time when this story came up, there were 125 miners who changed from the BMC to PoCC 50-50 and at the same time 25 miners who changed from PoCC 50-50 to BMC.

Burstnation has descended to a new low.

no i am not mining in a pro dymaxion pool and also i do not believe burstnation illogical accusation tbh

Why? From a miner's perspective the Dymaxion must go online to give Burst a chance to go to $1.00 and a faster chance to get ROI.

Yeah, Burstnation are salty. But what did they really do for Burst except make all those scam assets?
553  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 2018 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites on: March 21, 2018, 04:27:09 AM
Which of them are honeypots and which of them are safe? Its really hard to trust any of them especially after reading Snowden's comments.

The NSA worked to “track down” bitcoin users, snowden documents reveal

After the weird final statement of Bitmixer's founder, it maybe one of the last real mixing service thats not a honeypot.

554  Economy / Economics / Re: What happens if bitcoin price falls below the cost of mining it? on: March 21, 2018, 04:12:18 AM
Would bitcoin be able to recover? Are we safe since 80% of bitcoin has already been mined?

I remember it happened once in 2011 (https://www.themarysue.com/price-bitcoin-falls-below-mining/amp/).

Satoshi thought and planned for it.

If the bitcoin price falls below the cost of mining, some miners will exit. It will temporarily cause block discovery to lengthen as the existing miners striuggle - but after 2400 blocks, the difficulty will adjust down. That means it's easier to mine. (The difficulty is directly linked to the cost of mining as you need many more miners to win a block when the difficulty is high).

Basically you'll get iterations of this till the cost of mining falls below the bitcoin price. If the bitcoin price fell to $1 I expect you'll be able to mine them with your laptop as the professional mining farms will have long given up.

555  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What do you guys think about the stablecoin options out there? on: March 21, 2018, 03:58:38 AM
Pegging a blockchain based cryptocurrency is no different in fiat money based on the gold standard. Cryptocurrencies are supposed to be trustless and decentralized, and by pegging it to an establishment that holds the asset makes it vulnerable to centralization and a point of failure.

Just let the market decide what the value of a cryptocurrency is and keep it trustless.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Burst weekly report! The future is bright! on: March 21, 2018, 03:52:45 AM
I know some Burst holders are worried in the falling price. Some of them in /r/burstcoin are calling for marketing efforts to be done by the PoCC. This is wrong. As a community and as investors, we should be doing our part in making Burst known.

But knowing all the updates and the work being done. I am very confident that Burst will be in the top 20 in market value on 2018 or 2019.

Weekly Burst Report #28

  • The BRS 2.0.0 core wallet is finally released! You can download it on GitHub. I also recommend everyone to read the official release statement by the PoC Consortium. The 2.0.0 version is the foundation of the upcoming forks, a complete refactoring of the core wallet – not a single line of code was left untouched.

    • Because of the magnitude of this task, it appears that 2.0.0 still has a few issues and bugs here and there that are going to be fixed in the very near future with a 2.0.1 release. The 2.0.X line will continue to receive security updates and bugfixes should they become necessary until the next major version arrives.

    • The PoC Consortium anticipated this situation and actually asked the community to transition gradually to the new version in the release statement. “Let’s see how this new bird behaves in the wild, how it behaves when there are more and more of them.” The PoC Consortium insists that pool operators should not update yet.

    • Qbundle users need to wait a little more to have their one-click upgrade to 2.0.0 – it will be available very soon. It will mark the beginning of the main transition phase for the community.

    • The next major version is already underway : “the first commits on 2.1.0 (now the master branch) poured in, so we are on the way to 2.2.0” explains PoC Consortium rico666. 2.2.0 will be the pre-Dymaxion hard fork including PoC2 and dynamic fees & block size.

  • Two new pools are now using the PoC Consortium pool software: http://bibenwei.com:8081/ and http://burstcoin.ml/.

  • A few exclusive details concerning Automated Transactions development: “as part of the 2nd hard fork (BRS 2.4.0) are some modifications/extensions/upgrades to the AT system in order. Multi-Out tx types are also on the agenda, because both these are a prerequisite for powerful ACTTs and clearing”, according to rico666.

558  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Jaxx Wallet and Bitcoin Wallet Security Issues on: March 19, 2018, 04:14:04 AM
All this warnings because "unsecured encryption of wallets seeds" [Jaxx use hard-coded encryption key].

I think the source of this news is https://www.reddit.com/r/jaxx/comments/6gfl4d/easy_extraction_of_the_jaxx_12word_wallet_backup/.

Note that this was reported nine months ago, but many sites reposted it again a period of time.

This is old news. Try googling "Jaxx seeds unencrypted Javascript". The link to the research team who first exploited the security issue will show how to extract the wallet seeds with a few lines of JS.

Jaxx said they did this on purpose or cross platform convenience.
559  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex want to steal money of customers ! SCAM ALERT ! on: March 18, 2018, 02:43:43 AM
Who would be willing to hold those scamcoins anyhow? It looks like Bittrex is really doing you a favor by encouraging you to let them go lol.

Having that said, if Bittrex locked your account from making withdrawals, its not their fault that you cant verify your identity.

This is what Bittrex posted in their announcement.

Wallet Removal on March 30, 2018

  • Occasionally, there are circumstances that lead Bittrex to remove a coin's wallet or market from the Bittrex Exchange. These actions are taken to ensure customers have access to digital tokens that continue to meet our strict coin listing criteria and have a properly functioning blockchain and wallet.

  • We will be removing the wallets included in the list below on March 30, 2018. Once these wallets are removed, we will no longer be able to recover these coins. Users must withdraw their coins before March 30, 2018, in order to keep them.

  • The coins marked with an asterisk (*) have broken blockchains or wallets that will not allow withdrawals. In those cases, the inability to withdraw your balance is not due to the Bittrex Exchange platform, but is caused by a problem with the underlying blockchain or wallet associated with that coin.

Doge is backed by 4Chan Meme Corp. Burst is backed by Seagate&WesternDigital.

Burst should cost more.

Burst is technologically much more interesting, and it solves a real problem of PoW currencies. But the Burst community shouldn't only trust in their technology. Only if an ecosystem with real use cases can be created, Burst will get what it deserves: a place in the Top 20 or even Top 10-ranked cryptocurrencies.

This is my theory. I think rico666 and the PoCC are not telling us the whole deal with Burst and their real plans behind it.

It looks like that they are in a hurry to make Burst ready for "something". I think there was already a plan for it before the "development take over" of the PoCC started.

Would it be possible for a partnership taking place between the PoCC and a tech corporation or a rich benefactor?
