5421  Other / Politics & Society / Latest US Jobs Report a Fraud on: July 10, 2014, 03:20:18 AM
Quote
Washington can’t stop lying. Don’t be convinced by last Thursday’s job report that it is your fault if you don’t have a job. Those 288,000 jobs and 6.1% unemployment rate are more fiction than reality.

In his analysis of the June Labor Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, John Williams (www.ShadowStats.com) wrote that the 288,000 June jobs and 6.1% unemployment rate are “far removed from common experience and underlying reality.” Payrolls were overstated by “massive, hidden shifts in seasonal adjustments,” and the Birth-Death model added the usual phantom jobs.

Williams reports that “the seasonal factors are changed each and every month as part of the concurrent seasonal-adjustment process, which is tantamount to a fraud,” as the changes in the seasonal factors can inflate the jobs number.

The monthly unemployment rates are not comparable, so one doesn’t know whether the official U.3 rate (the headline rate that the financial press reports) went up or down. Moreover, the rate does not count discouraged workers who, unable to find a job, cease looking. To be counted among the U.3 unemployed, the person must have actively looked for work during the four weeks prior to the survey. The U.3 rate automatically declines as people who have been unable to find jobs cease trying to find one and thereby cease to be counted as unemployed.

There is a second official measure of unemployment that includes people who have been discouraged for less than one year. That rate, known as U.6, is seldom reported and is double the 6.1% rate.

Since 1994 there has been no official measure than includes discouraged people who have not looked for a job for more than a year. Including all discouraged workers produces an unemployment rate that currently stands at 23.1%, almost four times the rate that the financial press reports

Are you using Coinbase too much to buy Bitcoin or is this something entirely different? I'm not really getting a feel for why they perked their eyes up as much.

I do a bit of coinbase, quickpay.

They also closed my Uncle's account last year. He's in the oil industry.

Perhaps they targeted you because you could be perceived to be from another country, no offense. I've definitely done my fair share of Coinbase swaps and my tellers don't even bat an eye when I stroll through. Coinbase is becoming a respected brand so I can't see why any banks would be hating on it.

It's actually the increasing number of liberty minded republicans that are the new friends of the youth via their anti-NSA stances, pro-civil liberties positions, dropping obamacare so small biz will start hiring again, getting rid of the Dept of Ed that props up student loan increases, etc.

Hey, does anyone know the answer to this?

Rand is a huge asset in the Senate. Is it true he will lose his seat if he enters the Pres race, since in Kentucky he cannot run in both races?
They tried getting that law changed but believe it or not, democrats run the state house and they didn't go for it obviously. My guess is, Rand and co will know what kind of shot they have over the first handful of primaries or caucuses and if the steam is gathering they'll go for broke or otherwise pull out and stay in the Senate.

Yeah, I really hope Coinbase or one of our people are trying to get a major supermarket on board by allowing discounts to purchase food, booze or what not. That's when the average boob will really perk up since we all know women like to use coupons when shopping for the family.

When you buy something with a credit card, you provide all the information to defraud you. That doesn't make a lot of sense. If I hand you $10 cash, unless you're going to whack me over the head, you can't get me to give you any more. With a credit card, I authorize you to charge $10 and you could charge $50 and, in the immediate term, there's no way for me to stop it. Every few weeks we find out millions of credit cards have been compromised. What we have is not really fine.

Enter bitcoin. On the security side, in a bitcoin transaction, you are never providing any other party with information that could be used to defraud you. When you send bitcoin to somebody, even if they're not trustworthy, they cannot use the information you provided to extract more money than you want to give.

Second, efficiency. In a bitcoin-like system, money can move essentially instantaneously, and the fees can be much smaller than with traditional transactions.

What is so hard for most people to grasp about it?

The hardest thing — not unreasonably — is that bitcoin is completely decentralized currency. There's nobody in charge, no company, no government, no consortium — collectively everybody acts to run it. Most of us grew up in a world where government has oversight over currency like the dollar.
Heck, if that^ was any part of the take away value for the average nobody to remember from this piece then I consider it a huge success minus all the rest. I can imagine some minds being blown after reading that. Smiley

This is a serious escalation in the threat to bit coins existence. If the mudahagin talk of using the crypto currency to buy arms and supplies for their jihad or proclaim that the coinage will be the Islamic States first choice of currency then is just the pretext worldwide governments need to close down the bit coin servers.

Something that the mainstream media diligently works to hide, not to mention they either ship them in on the house or send them covert bags of black budget cash to do so on their own. That said, the last thing we need right now is bad news relating to "those guys" over there using our stuff. Cause, God would the media love to spread this far and wide.

The machines, known as BNK-24 terminals, also allow users to pay utility bills and purchase mobile phone credit, among other functions.

So there was already the ability to transfer money for various other reasons, which made it easier to add this as a new application.
You aren't actually buying Bitcoins from the ATMs, and they don't need to know anything about Bitcoin, you are buying a voucher that you can then use on a website to buy Bitcoins.
I guess offering that extra step to make it that much closer to the real thing isn't necessarily a negative. If true, that's a lot of freaking ATMs and likely a world leader.

I wonder how big this news actually is considering everything is safe and sound over there. Maybe some rich folks will see a novelty in it and say let me get some coins. Heck, if we continue to out-pace gold it would seem like they would want to.

Well... I did read something saying that Bitcoin wallets may soon replace Swiss bank accounts for anonymous stores of immense welath... (Dang, I can't remember where I read it)
Youtube it or it didn't happen. Grin Seriously, if that is true and the "immense wealth" crowd over there want a piece then all this good news can keep on stacking far into the future and it's game over for fiat.

Rand Paul Leads the GOP Pack for 2016 -- And Not By a Little

by John Zogby
7/09/2014 @ 2:15PM

A new Zogby Analytics poll of likely Republican primary voters in 2016 shows Rand Paul starting to build a lead over better known – and more establishment – GOP figures. The poll of 282 likely and eligible voters in GOP presidential primaries was conducted June 27-29 and has a margin-of-sampling error of +/-6 percentage points.

In the poll, the junior Senator from Kentucky polls 20%, followed by “Establishment” candidates New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush with 13% each. In fourth place is Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker with 8%, then Florida Senator Marco Rubio 7%, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindahl 4%, and New Mexico Governor Suzanna Martinez, Ohio Governor John Kasich, and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley all with 1% each.

This is the first time a GOP candidate has reached 20% in a crowded field and the first time a Zogby poll has shown someone emerging a bit from the pack. Obviously it is too early to predict outcomes or draw lasting conclusion but here are some points to consider:

so wait, you guys support israel and are against the palestinians? that sounds a lot like the status quo. siding with the israelis, historically speaking, has been beneficial to presidential candidates.. especially when it is against palestine.

No, we support leaving everyone overseas alone (to run their own country) and defending our country against actual attacks.
Rand is pointing out (among other things) that giving money/arms to both sides can end up harming both sides.

i'm not sure we live in the same world.. take a look here http://www.nationalreview.com/article/347151/rand-paul-and-israel.

Quote
“Absolutely we stand with Israel. What I think we should do is announce to the world — and I think it is pretty well known — that any attack on Israel will be treated as an attack on the United States.”

rand is pretty warm with israel, and he's also talked about his dedication to religion - christians love their israelis. rand strikes me as someone who says something different, but does the same shit. i think you guys might be evangelized libertarians. it seems like you guys are ignoring the bad shit he does, and justifying it by saying "he's doing evil in order to do good."
What's going on here is that his dad, Ron, was castigated as an anti-Semetic because of the way he phrased his non-interventionism. Rand is covering his ass and also showing how fake these so-called pro-Israel supporters are by offering this clearly pro-Israel act via a fiscal conservative approach and the establishment on both sides are bombing it down. In fact, Cruz was on Mark Levin's show talking about this but didn't mention it was Rand that was pushing it. Now, Rand has pro-Israel cred now whether he means it or not.
5436  Other / Politics & Society / Re: CNN national poll: Rand Paul 13%, Bush 13%, Ryan 12%, Huckabee 10%, Christie 9% on: July 09, 2014, 05:38:29 PM
Rand Paul: "Amazing resistance from both republicans and democrats" to his Stand With Israel Act

Listen @ 1:10 mark

http://www.mikeonline.com/taxpayer-money-may-going-terrorists-senator-rand-paul-tell-mike/

Any thoughts?

Yesterday, Rand wanted to pass his Senate bill to Stand W/ Israel (which guts money going to Hamas via Palestine) via unanimous consent but was blocked by fellow colleague and establishment re(pube)ican Sen. Bob Corker. All this while missiles were flying into Israel from Hamas rockets to which the iron dome that the US gave Israel shot them all down.

Answer: AIPAC opposes the Stand With Israel Act. AIPAC represents the Israeli government. They want US foreign aid to flow to Palestine, so it can flow to Hamas, so Hamas can use the money to attack Israel, so the Israeli military-industrial complex will have an "enemy" to fight.

I heard Laura Ingraham talking about this earlier today and I believe it's a move by conservative writer and Obama critic, Dinesh D'souza. She was saying that everyone should take their kids and grandkids and make it a family movie day. She then went on to say that it's PG-13 but there's no reason that kids shouldn't watch it... All this coming from one of the biggest social conservatives mind you. I like her and all but only up to a point. Her big issue is this immigration fiasco that's been going on.

Great. Although all these good news dont seem to move the market.. Huh
Keep in mind it's quite a leap for the average person to wrap their mind around Bitcoin so it'll take some time between them first hearing about it, then seeing the FUD and then finally coming around and embracing it. As more places offer discounts for using Bitcoin as payment, you'll continue to see more people using it. Many people go 18 years before they pop their cherry, just give it some time and things will unfold accordingly. Smiley
