5421  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What problems does bitcoin really solve? on: January 05, 2012, 07:17:08 PM
Paypal already enables us to make online payments all over the world. But Paypal is not free (at least not for entrepeneurs), while BTC is (besides some electricity).

BTC gives humanity immense freedom.

Freedom from (government) theft
Freedom from (government) interference
Freedom from (government) spying

A government without the ability to tax itself to riches means no more stupid major projects and enless wars. A blessing, all because of a simple program  Kiss

Can't wait for the war to start.

Are you a fan of death?

First, you would have to implement a decent money system. Repeal of the minimum wage law will plummet the workers' income, while leaving their current debts as they are. Got to get rid of the debt-money system first.

We are on our way into a great future.

5428  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help. New to bitcoin mining. Suggestions? on: December 27, 2011, 10:52:39 PM
Mining is not that profitable unless you already have the hardware and access to cheap electricity. The other option is just as viable: just buy BTC instead.
5429  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does Bitcoin Cater to the Rich? on: December 27, 2011, 10:49:39 PM
If BTC cannot be used by everyone (and I mean everyone that is able to open a door and, subsequently, drive a car), BTC won't be the major success. The Rich are neither the enemy nor the problem.

It's not 100% safe, but large BTC numbers go into my vault in a pristine VMWare Virtual Machine (with backup to DVD ROM). The small change from mining goes into the regular wallet on the host OS.

2012 will happen. Not the end of the world.

Got myself some BTC in June 2011 just after the $30 peak. Too bad I did not explore BTC earlier when I first saw the references in alternative media. It is not about the speculation part, but the tremendous possibilities of BTC for humanity.
