I'm really looking forward to see Djoko get in he next GS
Well... potentially more drama to come.
it would practically mean that he gives up tennis.
I really don't believe he's Djokovic going to throw away his great career because he does not want to be vaccinated. Wimbledon will certainly not be able to play without the vaccine there the rules are even more rigorous and clear. US open probably will do the same rule.

Well, yeah, meanwhile, we've got the Scandinavians slowly going towards regarding Covid as a non-threat to society and the UK also just easing down on everything (but noting that at least in the former case, supposedly it's because hospitalisations are very low and no longer a burden, partly in any case because of high vaccinated population in the cities).

I always tell my kids: my house my rules, so yeah, can't argue if France insists, it'd be much better for everyone if we didn't go and make this any more dramatic than it already has been. If he won't play, he won't play. Shame for us if not though.

Clay season will be the reign of Nadal, Tsitsipas and Djokovic (if he is allowed to play). I am also expecting big things from guys like Ruud and Thiem.

This is precisely why I want Djokovic to play, to see these 3 guys (and I can't help but hope Tsitsi finds his break) rule. Medvedev outclassed every opponent on his serve in AO, but that's nullified with clay.
5422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investment against inflation on: January 30, 2022, 05:25:55 PM
Even  doing so in 2017 would have provided a windfall today. And anyone going in now would be very pleased with where they would be post next halving. Roll on, Bitcoin balance sheet!
Any company that has plans of profiting from Bitcoin, now would be the perfect time for them to start buying. If they really have plans to hold it for long term, they can go ahead and start investing now and hold in a secure wallet for them to be able to sell in the future when the market goes up again. We know for sure that Bitcoin will be going up again, so now is that perfect time.

And businesses that would invest in Bitcoin right now are really going to make huge profits out of it, because in the future that is coming, the increase in Bitcoin is going to be really huge compared to now, and we would for sure be crossing $100,000 price.

Again, I'm not sure the purpose should ever be to profit from Bitcoin, but simply to protect against inflation in the long term. Of course, it's nice to put a balance sheet in Bitcoin and then get double, triple, or more the value in a few years' time but the purpose really is to ensure you still have the same spending power -- be it as business capital, or simply to pay wages. You're almost guaranteed to be in a weaker position year on year if you keep in fiat. Bitcoin, up and down, but certainly over the long term, enough to overcome inflation.

So it's less about holding I feel, and less about profits (although with the likes of Saylor it's hard to tell what he wants or is attempting unless you're happy to take his word if not his actions).
5423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 30, 2022, 04:12:13 PM
I think it's hard on Medvedev to say he threw it away. Rafa, Djokovic and Federer can't ever be written off, even 2 sets down in a slam final. I think it was much more Nadal winning it than Medvedev losing it. Medvedev would have beaten everyone else (except maybe someone who might have wanted to play but got deported).

Yeah, that's unfair on him. This wasn't about the Russian throwing the game, it's about Nadal reminding everyone that today, the modern great athlete ages like fine wine. Imagine, how good can all the current crop of 20+ year olds will be after a decade of experience?

Well, I got the women's and men's winner right, and made a little bit of profit... so my betting record is improving a bit, even if the women's winner wasn't remotely surprising and the men's winner wasn't a huge shock either... so it's not exactly a proud achievement, but I'll take what I can get!
Is 2022 my year for tennis betting? Cheesy

Ash Barty fine, was a clear favourite, but I think getting Nadal right is worth some gold (given his age and the rise to prominence of so many young ones). So you deserve every pat on the back for that.

I'm really looking forward to see Djoko get in he next GS because someone needs to match Nadal's 21 now. I know I've said so many times Fedex has his last shot but I definitely want to see a swansong. All the elite athletes of 20+ GS in one tournament

Let us hope the Afcon games gives us one more special!!

Soccer Blackjack #425: Egypt v Morocco
https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/sportsbet-specials/daily-specials/soccer-blackjack/egypt-morocco-61f54e4772c431d1478e17fc

My bet is on, I have extra interest in this game also. I want to see how Mo Salah gets on, should be a really good game. Would be great to hit 21, I missed our winner last night. Really happy for everybody who had bet on it though.

Ah heck, why not? Put my bet in with minutes to go on the clock. Morocco coach says there's a way to stop Salah, and Salah's even been getting a bit of flak from some within Egypt (like every bloody season no matter what he says) so yeah, maybe this time Egypt come up with the goods. They were over 4/1 in the last match, and again today, Blackjack, why not?

GL guys!
5425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet AFCON prediction pool discussion thread on: January 30, 2022, 02:41:09 PM
Yeah well done to you guys who got Burkina Faso. They have been in the news a hell lot the past couple of weeks... All for the wrong reasons of course. Could that be what is fueling their attacking display?

Anyway, all I care about today is Senegal win.

@toma yeah have been following Mane situation and he actually scored AFTER the injury but so far all signs are he just had a really swollen cheek to show for it. Liverpool are appealing to not let him play. But I guess not every federation views head injuries the way England does where you automatically don't play next game for any kind of concussion. I hope he sits this out too. We need our boy back.
5426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 30, 2022, 01:41:11 PM
Well done on your picks for this one Trofo! I only played cheeky money on two 3:2 wins either side so I actually end up making a few dollars but was just ready to sit and enjoy.

Had to go out now, did not expect match to get in this long but have a feeling will return home to see Nadal get his 21st.

6/1 outright IIRC was he not? Phew.
5427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League Thread 2021/2022 on: January 30, 2022, 01:31:44 PM
Hey, seems like Preston almost did it yesterday huh? Too bad they had to mount a fightback first, but gotta really enjoy being a Derby fan now. Protesting all their worth since morning but if they secure a win (as favourites no less) I feel like they could just about string together something special... As it will be 3 points to safety then!

Kickoff now. Enjoy!
5428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One Bitcoin on: January 30, 2022, 11:27:15 AM
Always heartwarming to read this part, where you are okay with Bitcoin going to zero. I say the same for myself, knowing full well that I will be hurt if it really does, but that I also have already enjoyed enough to make the journey worthwhile.

So I urge you to do the same. Bitcoin is unlikely to go to zero but at the same time, try and enjoy some of the gains from sticking around. If it means making life a bit more comfortable for others, or a small outlay to a long-term tangible thing like a first house or a business, go for it.

If not now, the next cycle. Enjoy!
5429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 30, 2022, 10:06:59 AM
Once Special Ks and Barty took their seats, I thought it was only natural Nadal would join them but after losing the first set, and properly too, I guess we should be preparing for the Russian to take a bow at the end, huh. Still hoping the crowd spurs Rafa on. But Medvedev probably realises this right now that shutting up and talking less makes him a better player Wink
5430  Economy / Gambling / Re: The ideal Poker table the Dream Team(T0p9). Ranking BPS.2022 on: January 29, 2022, 11:46:54 PM
Oh God, the shame of being named but with zero points. I actually cannot recall precisely what happened but on the few sittings I have attempted, time simply got away from me or I went in too early. But that would be ungracious of me to those who actually know how to Poker Wink

How exactly I got to exactly nil points on this one I will probably put down to my impatience. Or ineptitude in any case.

Will have to look at this again.
5431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🎰 Sportsbet.io 🎰 "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: January 29, 2022, 09:44:27 PM
Don't want to jump the gun for anyone, and as I didn't take the bet I can't confirm if it was a hit, but the last game seems to have been a full-on 21. There was a yellow card on record for one of the Burkina Faso midfielders but he was warming up behind the goal and got carded for timewasting (returning the ball).

Well done if anyone put some money down here. I was... ashamedly, avoiding all AFCON bets.
5432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I invested $100 for 18 years for my new born nephew on: January 29, 2022, 06:22:45 PM
Nice news, I feel like I recognise your nick from somewhere, well done at any rate.

Just a piece of advice, among everything else that you've received already! I tested with two children circa 2017/18 to give them their own Bitcoin with private keys and instructions. I posted about it somewhere on the forum that last year, checking back with them, one has lost completely the keys, another has it but doesn't quite remember how to use it (but the latter case is solved easily with internet). It was not the outcome I expected, as I thought the elder one was more responsible, and more technically at ease.

Thankfully, not a big amount, what I do store for them I keep custody of and the lesson is hopefully learnt by the elder one. I do ask them to check the wallet I set up for them to see how it grows. It definitely makes for excited eyes.

You might want to teach the same lesson, and let them see for themselves.
5433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet AFCON prediction pool discussion thread on: January 29, 2022, 05:19:34 PM
Man, I can't remember who it was who suggested Cameroon as a good pick, being the host country -- and I know it wasn't mentioned then but you do get quite a bit of refereeing sympathy for a host nation, not to mention home support, and that they've just been winning every game now going forward, (or was it just 1 draw?), I'm wondering if this was a missed opportunity.

Already 2 goals up and against Gambia, no way they miss out on the next stage.
5434  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - We are putting 1 BITCOIN into Space!! 🚀🚀 on: January 29, 2022, 03:55:14 PM
Brazil Ecuador was really something, Steve. Watched the first half, such entertainment. Two reds by 25th, and so long in between to add ten mins injury time to first half. The only surprise really was they didn't actually add any cards in the second half. Complete opposite football to across the continent huh.

Multibet betbuilder, gotta try that out some time. Do all legs have to be BB?
5435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investment against inflation on: January 29, 2022, 02:43:59 PM
Nice story indeed, missed it when it was posted. Personally knwow of two businesses also doing the same, just a year or two before the 2017 rally. Paid of handsomely for both, saved one during the following winter bear... For the other, allowed a huge expansion with al kinds of diversification.

Even  doing so in 2017 would have provided a windfall today. And anyone going in now would be very pleased with where they would be post next halving. Roll on, Bitcoin balance sheet!
5436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Potential running flat pattern (very bullish) similar to 2017: 100k+ very likely on: January 29, 2022, 12:12:26 PM
Agree it is plausible, but only one of many that also are... But hard for me to agree that 100k is "very likely" when we can expect a number of impending market milestones for the US and global economic signposts in general. Namely, interest rate hikes, and stock market vulnerabilities. Bitcoin will not be immune to the effects of those this year.

So, yes, still on the cards. But very likely? Going to need a few more drinks to get on that bet.
5437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where are all the bitcoin's Moon boys ? on: January 29, 2022, 10:43:11 AM
Just a couple of days ago, saw one of those moonbois (no need to mention names, I unfortunately have to come across them daily because of my work) put out a Tweet saying something like "If you can't stand to lose 50% in a week you don't deserve to be a millionaire". Something like this.

So they're definitely nursing some pains, and fielding in the hurt. Just another day in the life of a cycler.
5438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League Thread 2021/2022 on: January 29, 2022, 10:00:23 AM
Johnny come lately here, didn't even really realise (or maybe forgot) that there was a Championship thread here. Who else has been making great wins with Derby? After their recent form, though, bookies have wisened up. No more 5/1 or 6/1 odds for them when fighting fellow stragglers. I'd still take bets on them to survive the drop if I could find any.

Preston to win again today with Bristol City their next victims? Wink
5439  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-01-29] Biden Admin To Regulate Bitcoin As A Matter Of National Security on: January 29, 2022, 09:44:28 AM
"China had to ban it completely to remove the problem" what?

They didn't remove any problem, they created new ones. Or, they washed their hands off any responsibility to regulate or intervene -- I always suspected that the crypto-related scams in China led to a lot of pressure from the government to act. They installed a blanket ban as they couldn't understand enough on who to license, and who not to. Regulating would mean enforcement and they'd rather just criminalise now until they figure it out.

Regulating Bitcoin of course at face value is not possible but I'm sure we're not meant to take the decision at face value.
