I just got finished reading the entire thread (good job, I thoroughly enjoyed it) and I don't think I saw anybody ask this question:

Is there any one sport/league that you find to be particular easy in terms of spotting a bargain?

And going in the opposite direction, which sport/league do you find the most difficult to make a correct pick?
5463  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coronavirus Outbreak on: February 02, 2020, 04:23:41 AM

This article is unsurprisingly a bunch of rubbish. The quoted studies in the article say nothing about "HIV insertions", rather that it contained protein structures similar to those found in HIV. While an uncommon occurrence in nature, in no way does it mean HIV proteins had been "spliced" into the virus. Have you looked at the story recently? They have included this tweet and are doing some backtracking, probably after having been called out repeatedly for being full of shit:

Quote
These short inserts do indeed exist in #nCoV2019 relative to its closest sequenced relative (BetaCoV/bat/Yunnan/RaTG13/2013, seen here https://nextstrain.org/groups/blab/sars-like-cov). However, a simple BLAST of such short sequences shows match to a huge variety of organisms. No reason to conclude HIV.

The key word here is pets. This is pretty excessive, useless, and authoritarian exercise. Perhaps they should kill all the sparrows while they are at it too... This is a base example of trauma based mind control. Kill your pet or go to prison. You are damned if you do you are damned if you don't. If you do then you chose complicity in your mind, and it will be harder to sway you from that which you made such a sacrifice for. If you don't they lock you up and probably kill your pet anyway.

And this is you misinterpreting what the article you posted says. It doesn't say anybody will go to prison. It says provincial villagers are being ordered to cull their pets in some places, and keep them indoors in others, at the risk of them being culled by the police or officials if they are found outdoors. Its not "trauma based mind control" so much as local officials being pressured to implement solutions even at the risk of them being poor or ineffective. Its an unfortunate byproduct of panic and nothing more.

I only saw this now. Is there a a prize hehe?

Prediction SF 37 - 24

No, its not too late, and the prize is 5 merits from me (and whatever else anyone feels like contributing). "Too late" will be about 14 hours from now after I've gone to sleep with the intention of waking up at 7:40 AM to watch the big game. I added you and also morvillz7z.

nutildah: SF 24 - KC 22
Hueristic: SF 37 - KC 34
tyKiwanuka: SF 25 - KC 51
wheelz1200: SF 31 - KC 35
DireWolfM14: SF 49 - KC 3
willy2streams: SF 34 - KC 28
kingcolex: SF 28 - KC 24
South Park: SF 34 - KC 27
bbc.reporter: SF 37 - KC 24
morvillz7z: SF 28 - KC 24

In any case, I saw an interview of Dana White who was very excited that Tom Brady might play for the Las Vegas Raiders next season.

It might be what the new franchise might need to sell tickets for their new stadium hehehe.

Yeah, agreed! We'll find out what kind of a football town Vegas really is.

I was watching this predictions show yesterday on YouTube and found it to be quite comprehensive. I don't know much about the people on the show, other than Le Martin (the girl) does a pretty decent job of calling games. She's also rather pleasant to look at. In any case, it was an informative take and I recommend giving it a gander.

5465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So a bitcoin scam has been getting a lot of publicity in the Philippines lately on: February 01, 2020, 05:56:45 PM
Sad to say, but most of the Filipinos don't want to bother to learn about the business model of such investment programs. What these people care about is the profit that they received from their investments, without even thinking where the profit-money came from. The most recent example for this was the ponzi schemes like KAPA, Forex (Investment scheme name, not the Foreign Exchange trading), Rigen, and so on. They have deceived the people to believe that these companies is earning big amount of money from Cryptocurrency trading, thus making good amount of monthly ROI from each members.

Unfortunately I have found this to be true as well. My neighbor in Pampanga got hooked in the Trade Coin Club, thinking that his deposit was going toward some kind of trading investment when really it was just a basic MLM / Ponzi scheme. Probably the most devious part about it was that he was referred to the scam by a fellow church member, whom he trusted and thought was a stand-up guy.

When I first moved in to my apartment, I struck up a conversation with the guy, and we got to talking about our jobs. I told him I wrote about bitcoin, and then he showed me his Trade Coin Club app. I took a look at it -- he showed me his easy profits and how it worked, and then thought, oh yeah, that's a scam. So I tried to explain to him why he needed to be careful...

Sure enough, you couldn't withdraw the funds until after a contract expired, and withdrawing beforehand would incur massive penalties. Basically there was no way to profit other than through recruiting others. So after our conversation the guy tried to get his "friend" on the phone (the one who got him into it), and I think he pretty much realized he had been scammed at that point (out of what was about 400,000 pesos at that time).

So how did the guy thank me? By buying a German Shepard that would bark every day (and every night) the next day.  Roll Eyes
5466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Priceless" Bitcoin commerical on: February 01, 2020, 04:45:32 PM
No matter what anyone says, he's going to be against BTC and pro Gold.. that's his business.

who said he is against bitcoin?

He said it. He's against it in multiple ways, and is one of the most fervent and vocal bitcoin haters out there. Let me ask you this: when's the last time he said something positive about bitcoin?

just because someone spreads nonsense FUD about bitcoin in the media and on the internet doesn't mean they are against it. you'd be surprised how many of the FUDsters are hard core believers in bitcoin who are buying lots of it every chance they get.

Zero? Schiff just said he just "lost all the bitcoin (he) ever owned," remember? So if he's lying, its on you to prove it. Regardless, no media sensationalist words ever move the market by a noticeable degree. He's just a clueless hater.

5467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Priceless" Bitcoin commerical on: February 01, 2020, 03:48:50 PM
How the hell did this guy earn his money, anyway?

Like most people get their extraordinary wealth: he "earned" it from his parents. Schiff Sr. was a really interesting guy -- far so more than his son. For one, he died in prison protesting the federal income tax. He stopped paying taxes in 1974 and encouraged his followers to do so, who of course ended up owing the IRS a combined $56 million. Irwin himself was on the hook for somewhere between $2 and $8 million, depending on what time span you go by.

I first heard of Peter Schiff in 2008 when he was credited for more or less calling the recession. I followed him for about two years, but then I realized he was just another talking head cult of personality that depended on sensationalism. He's been wrong about pretty much everything (his financial forecasts, sans his gold obsession at times) for the last ten years.
5468  Economy / Reputation / Re: Updated January 4: DT1-election: Rank up pipeline on: February 01, 2020, 07:56:44 AM
Monthly update: theymos updated DT1 yesterday, so http://loyce.club/trust/ranking/ is relevant again.

In your OP it says that the list is filtered to contain users the "fit all criteria" minus having the total # of required inclusions -- does this mean they also have custom trust lists as well? If so, the number of eligible accounts is now up to 160  Shocked . Ought to make things pretty interesting this go around.
5469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The Essential NFL Thread 🏈🏈 - new poll every week on: February 01, 2020, 04:48:57 AM
Of the 5 big oddsmakers I usually consult before coming up with an average line for something, 3 of them have moved in favor of KC since opening:

Bookmaker: 0 to -1
Sportsbook: -1 to -1.5
MyBookie: 0 to -1.5

This obviously means that extra money has been coming in for KC in a lopsided fashion. However, I'm still favoring SF to win, and will probably put in a wager on them moments before the game. One thing's for sure: it ought to be a really good game, and not a runaway or stale one.

For a somewhat morbid prop bet I would put up total combined score versus number of recorded Coronavirus deaths on that day, lol.
5470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poll for favourite cryptos used on Gambling. on: January 31, 2020, 02:54:55 PM
it seems that the coins which will certainly be chosen and used there will certainly be btc and maybe two other coins will belong to eth and xrp. i just didn't think the two coins were so popular to be used in many crypto gambling sites and i think that whatever coins are chosen and used won't be a problem, because they will still use btc as the main coin

Was this account hacked and you bought it from the hacker or did you buy it from the real kodtycoon? The former seems far more likely. I have to know -- since you're not in a signature campaign, what compels you to post on the forum? It honestly doesn't seem like you enjoy it, and I'm not sure you've ever once gambled in a crypto casino. You're certainly not the original kodtycoon.

OK korner, I'll indulge you with a response here, even though nothing I have to say can help you because you've already been banned (several times). Let's see what we have here:

Guide from theymos ฿ratings and flags฿

Ratings

 - Leave negative ratings if you actively think that trading with the person is less safe than with a random person.

Check -- done. You are the complete opposite of trustworthy. I would trust an account picked randomly much more than I would trust you, for obvious reasons.

Flags

 - Use flags only for very serious and clear-cut things.

OK, having left more flags than anyone on the forum (by a large magnitude), and having left 9 of them on my account (all of which are inactive and overwhelmingly opposed), you're not in any position to be reminding people of how flags should be used.

Anything else?
5473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BSV] [Bitcoin SV] Satoshi Vision - Unmoderated Thread on: January 30, 2020, 04:23:05 PM
So what happeneds when the fee market exceeds the block reward as is clearly going to be the case with BSV

I don't know. None of us do, because hell will have frozen over long before then.

It’s obvious the transaction fee market will clearly exceed the block reward with time.

How is that "obvious"? Lets take a look at the facts:

Avg. Transaction Fee   0.0000038 BSV ($0.0011)
Transactions avg. per hour   21,087, or 3,515 per block
Reward Per Block   12.50+0.0158 BSV ($3,695.91 USD)
Fee in Reward (Average Fee Percentage in Total Block Reward)   0.15%

At its current price, the average number of transactions would have to increase by 666.67x in order for their fees to equal the block reward. That's assuming that transaction fees doesn't increase proportional to the price of BSV. That would mean 2.343 million transactions per block. Since BSV has an average tx size of 0.48kb, that would mean each block would have to be 1.124 GB. We're talking about a 570-fold increase from where things currently stand. That just ain't happening. Not in our lifetimes.

Feel free to bet on BSV's blockchain growing by 162 GB a day if you want (4.8 terabytes a month) -- that does not sound like "scaling" to me. It sounds like a pipe dream.

What's far more likely to happen is BSV will buckle under the weight of Craig's ego and it will implode into obscure shitcoindom where it belongs.
5474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BSV] [Bitcoin SV] Satoshi Vision - Unmoderated Thread on: January 30, 2020, 01:18:03 PM
I’m coming from here: the facts.

https://sv.coin.dance/blocks

On a daily average, BSV outperforms BTC in transactions and block size.

Funny how that website leaves out the metrics that are actually important in determining the true popularity of a coin, like active addresses, average transaction size and total hash power of the network. Wonder why that is.

BSV is a joke led by a fraudulent cult leader. Its going nowhere as an honest investment until Craig is removed from its equation entirely. Based on its actual utility and minus the Faketoshi Factor, I put the fair price of SV to be somewhere between $30 and $40 a coin. Everything above that at the moment is based on Craig's everlasting charade.

Again, miners have the incentive to process every transaction, there are no ‘metrics’ left out of a global ledger...

Do they really though? We've been through this already. The miners make a tiny sliver of what BTC miners make in transaction fees. They have very little incentive to process every transaction because 99.95% of their revenue depends on the block reward.

All metrics are left out of a "global ledger" (in your case, you're referring to a fork of a fork of bitcoin), because a ledger doesn't care about statistics.

History of your posts show that you have bet against the best performing crypto of the top 10 in 2019-2020.... there is literally proof of you saying ‘BSV will go to zero’ and there has been 2 bull runs since.

I actually never said I "had bet" against BSV, however after BSV reached its new high on what was obviously fake news I opened a short position on it and am doing quite well, thanks. Just because its the "best performing crypto of the top 10" during your arbitrarily and ill-defined time period doesn't mean its not an outright scam.
5475  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 30, 2020, 11:12:48 AM
Guys, can we please keep the conversation on topic???

I need to know if we are currently forming a BART (Bart) and headed back down to <9100. I'm trying to short BSV right now and want to know when to put in my next order. I found a place that lets you short BSV futures at 100:1 leverage and am currently practicing. I'm studying for an entry point.

So please, let's stick to hardcore TA only out of respect for our WO forefathers, who must be turning in their dormant accounts right now.

LOL
5476  Other / Meta / Re: Are the negative trusts you have given so far really necessary? on: January 30, 2020, 10:11:08 AM
What a coincidence 6 hours before you injected yourself into my conversation with another user there, I posted a thread about the attacks and threats on the Covington kids in Politics & Society. This was a thread you were clearly aware of as you later posted in it with clear disdain for even acknowledging death threats against children as being a serious topic of discussion just because they happen to be Trump supporters. I am sure it is just a coincidence...

I don't really remember what you're talking about, and even though it does sound funny, its not relevant here.

BTW, where was the part about Morpheus, I was looking forward to that part of your narrative.

Perhaps I confused Captain Kirk with Morpheus. I coulda sworn I asked you specifically about why you didn't like the trust system earlier, but I may be mistaken, as I can't seem to find the post.

Of course you don't remember now I pointed all of this out. How convenient that, as well as your declaration of irrelevance even though it clearly demonstrates your disdain for my political views as well as the suspicious timing of your antipathy with me in meta beginning mere hours after that post. You could have swore you asked me about it earlier? Was this our first interaction or not? Make up your mind. It is hard to keep your story straight when you make it up as you go along isn't it? Also, where does Captain Kirk come in to all of this? Oh right, in your imagination just like the rest of your fairy tale.

If you think mixing up a meme with Morpheus and a Star Trek captain (they're all the same to me as I don't watch the show) is a criminal offense, open a flag against me about it. It will fit in nicely with my 13 other inactive flags. Like me, you can't seem to find an interaction previous to this one, so yes, let's just declare it our first.

None of this is relevant to the topic of this thread. I know you could do this all night, but I don't really care to, so I'll let you have the last word.

Ehmmm... Sorry to interrupt here but I guess there's no need to go nuts here because he's given an example here and even when I checked your ratings, I can see a +31 / =5 / -3, so 10 times the green trust and you are still in a condition where none of the new people would suspect you that you'll scam 'em away. I know you're talking about some of your personal issues but there are many good ratings in your list which can defend you in your case.

My first interaction with TS that I can recall having was asking him why he was so upset with the trust system given his great rating, and this was back during the time of the old scoring system, when he had zero DT negatives. I was just trying to ask him an honest question and he proceeded to be extremely condescending in his answer, going so far as to compare himself to Morpheus. Long story short: you can't stop some people from going nuts.

Actually the first time we interacted was when I was passing through the local red light district, and I saw you in an alley eating your own feces. I tried to tell you to stop, but you insisted it was delicious Belgian chocolate. Story time is fun isn't it? Why recall reality when you can just make up whatever you want without substantiation?

If you were being honest our first interactions were in Politics & Society where you got very upset at some of the ideas I discussed, then later saw fit to inject yourself into trust system related disputes I was involved in with concern trolling to fight your political battles via other methods since you can't muster a reasonable debate. You aren't a victim little girl, you are a perpetrator, as evidenced by your baseless accusations here.

Incorrect. The first interaction I ever had with you was in Meta (feel free to prove me wrong if you'd like). I think our first disagreement (and one of the reasons I decided to add you to my distrust list) was because of your overall approach to the trust system. Then a few replies later you posted a lengthy meme about what the trust system meant to you. That may be the one I was thinking of; regardless, I felt your reply was overly pompous while simultaneously unclear, and it was then that I knew I didn't agree with your judgment.

Only after a couple of months of interacting with you did I realize you were always displeased and arrogant about everything, and in our first interaction you were only exhibiting your natural demeanor.

Hahahahaha...

Look who woke up on the generous side of the bed this morning with $30-$40 valuations of a piece of shit?

Well, I think ~ 1/10th the price of BCH is fair. Sans Craig, there has been a decent amount of effort put into it compared to most other altcoins. Not that we don't already have several pre-existing data storage coins that are probably much more efficient in that aspect because that's what they were specifically built to do.

$30 is higher than what even the true original bitcoin was around 2013 ... They are talking about the original vision or whatever version it was at when Satoshi disappeared, so they should at least get on version 0.6 or something. Satoshi didn't stop at 0.1.

SV being based on "the original protocol" is just another one of the many fallacious selling points preached by Craig. As I've brought up and detailed elsewhere, its code contains several changes made by Bitcoin Core and ABC developers (Maxwell, Wuille, Sechet, etc). These changes aren't being taken out because they are integral to a properly-functioning bitcoin. Of course, Craig would rather all his followers just remain ignorant about the details.
