5461  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: So, you want to run a faucet? on: February 08, 2015, 10:01:55 AM
Not sure about faucets, but I know PTCs like BitVisitor or CoinAd have to make money. I once advertised on BitVisitor and it was indredibly expensive for what the visitor's are actually making visiting the site. They are making huge margins.

PTC do charge a high amount because they are forcing earners to watch the site for a some seconds. You could advertise cheaply by bidding for ad-slots or buying impressions using a-ads. a-ads is a good one which I have ever found and you can bid for even for 1 Satoshi!

i just wanted to know that are the payment made exactly after one week after you signup or are the payments sent on a particular date for all the people?

Exactly 1 week after you join. If you join on 8/2/15, you will get your payments(if you made atleast 1 post) on 15/2/15, 22/2/15, 1/3/15 and so on.

Does anyone have a good stable config for Keccak algo on the 280x using the multi-algo autoswitching sgminer?  I keep getting at least 20% reject due to Job Not Found and a lot of stale shares as well.  Never been able to figure this one out.  All the other algos are working fine for me except Keccak.

Thanks!

Replace pools with the multi-algo pool settings. After that, the configuration is stable. Try it and report here. Hope it works!

Is anyone mining Westhash with a KncMiner Titan? I tried Westhash for about 24 hours and the hashrate was ok at app 330 MH/s but cgminer was showing 5.2% reject rate. Any way to get the reject rate down?

Thanks,

Try to use extranonce subscription and also try to set a custom difficulty(neither high nor lower). See https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=faq#faqs9 for difficulty table.

P.S. Have you tried BFGMiner?

5466  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I "protect" my wallet on: February 08, 2015, 05:50:11 AM
All you need to do is encrypt it.

And have an anti virus installed to detect and remove keyloggers.

You can't rely on that forever. Even if you have the best antivirus which have ever built(there is none currently), it won't protect your wallet. If ypu have a USB(atleast 4 GB), you can easily create a linux-cold-storage. Smiley

I know this is a way but would you trust say 20btc in an online wallet and just relying on your encryption method and your anti virus software or would you feel safer having it totally offline in your hands on say a paper or hardware wallet?

I prefer cold storage. But for some people, cold wallet isn't a good choice as they travel a lot or they don't have enough things to make a cold storage wallet. Even to spend from paper wallet, we need a smartphone or a webcam but in some jobs we will have to live in particular place such as a rig where camera-related things aren't allowed. So there is issues with everything but more than that it's pure laziness. Roll Eyes

Helpful enough to get a cool free coolwallet? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Please send an email to info@coolbitx.com and then we can discuss.

I was really unlucky! Congrats, friend! Anyway, he was kind enough to give me one for cheaper price. Smiley

Their email apparently doesn't exist according to one web tool I used. I agree, hopefully they are not scammers.

Maybe we could find him on WHOIS and email him there?

I didn't want to get into his/her/their personal stuff(s)! When you said, I just checked but no email! Let's wait for an update(or news).

shipitbuddy.
Like wtf right?

Don't worry, friend! Already reported it to PsychoticBoy to remove him from his trust list. He will remove soon!:)

Ah, I see. So I'm not the only one who has the problem. Is the admin on bitcointalk? The support@bitmedia.io email they provide doesn't work. I hope this is just a bug.

Yeah, it's weird! I tried to mail them but it was being rejected all time. I hope they fix it soon and wasn't a scammer! Smiley

My site is getting ~2k+ hits daily. I can share Google Analytics details with your Google account.
Banner sizes : 468x60, 728x90, 120x600, 120x240 & 120x60. I can also provide a custom size slot for you.
Price : You name it.

BTW, what are you going to advertise and for how many days? I can't put any gambling and ponzi ads. Hope you understand! Smiley

is anyone actually making a profit by using a bot?

Yes! Just set it correctly! Don't think you will get a high profit in a short time. Instead, it will take some time, maybe days or even months. If you are too lucky, maybe in a few hours or in a day.

5475  Other / New forum software / Re: Banned Users on: February 07, 2015, 08:17:56 AM
This would be useful. Currently, we will have to look at the ban log to know the users who have banned but I think very old users will be removed from the list after a specific time - I am not sure about this.

Why you post it here? Maybe the dev/founder thinks it shouldn't be open or it will be locked when the coin is dead. What is your problem in it if the thread starter closes it? Are you telling it shouldn't be locked at all? Smiley

Yes, making a backup of the 12 phrases(aka seed) is fine and you can recover your wallet with it.

Hi,

My wallet is stuck in "Synchronizing". Any idea?? I already restarted it and tried to use different servers.

Is there any specific port number I should connect to? Currently it says "50001" eventhough is in auto-connect.

Thanks

Please don't make two similar posts. Smiley Try to connect to a server manually. There was no such problem for me.

5480  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to start off with Bitcoin mining? on: February 07, 2015, 07:12:52 AM

Don't use that calculator.

It will give you very misleading results because it doesn't consider the rising difficulty.

If you use that calculator, you will have to calculate two times. One with current difficultly and the another with increased difficulty(+10%)[1]. My personal favourite is http://vnbitcoin.org/bitcoincalculator.php.

[1] +10% difficulty isn't accurate but we can get an approximate result.

P.S. I found another with better results, https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty.
