So you have your opinion about hardware wallets, is it based on your personal experience or you know an example when some user lost his coins in a way that hardware wallet is hacked? How much is known to me something like that is did not happen so far, so why hardware wallets by you "provide the users a false sense of security"?
The occasional debates and threads about hardware wallets that has been appearing here in DT&D board, so far, are enough for me to say that hardware wallets are no safer than alternative clients. And your examples of bad things that could happen are mostly the user's fault, not the client's. In addition, that's for sale, a product and involves money, a business. Its sales will always depend on how it was advertised, and apparently, we all know how advertisement works. That's my opinion, it's up to them to consider it.

No one's answering the thread title so, here we go:
Learn from your mistake and get over it because (as they say) Bitcoin Transactions are irreversible or better if you can tell us the site where you were scammed and their possible modus operandi so you or anyone here can open a scam accusation to that site. That way, your experience wont just help you but other prospective victims too. Also lastly, we aren't 100% sure if that address is really a scammer's address, you know what I mean, right?

How many people do you actually know with rooted phones? And not to label OP, but I don't see someone that can root their phone also asking questions about how to move their wallets between phones
ugh, myself, my brother an everyone in my group. The number may be little compared to the number of android phones but that's why I've included " in case your phone was rooted". And in OP's perspective ( a newbie in cryptocurrency) moving a wallet that uses a unventured money requires a query to the 1st-hand users. Overall, your reply isn't much of a subject for discussion.

My doubt is that, once a new range of gpus are launched, the older gpus will be out of circulation, right?
Actually, no. Some manufacturers will still make previous models even if there's a newly released GPU model. And secondhand GPU will still flood the flea market. If you're fond of window shopping on websites that sell 2nd-hand computer parts, you will always come across the old GPU models. The questions are the estimated time of usage and the quality of the products but it will still affect the price of the bnew ones.

If I were you I would invest money into a hardware wallet like ledger nano s. The gain in security is worth every penny!
Hardware wallets are just a techno gimmick which provide the users a false sense of security, period. Offline wallets - Paper wallets (highly recommended) How can he use a paper wallet for purchasing goods or actively use for sending and receiving bitcoins? That's for Cold Storage, you can always trust a private key in a piece of paper that you personally made. Online wallets - Core, Electrum & (Blockchain which is not so good to use as it is vulnerable to hacks)
Core is vulnerable to hacks, OMFG. Everything that's installed to a computer that was connected to the internet are vulnerable to hacks, but it's not the main reason not to trust them. OP is asking for Trusted Bitcoin wallets and the wallets from the list on bitcoin.org is a strong indicator that those can be trusted.
Try Electrum; I trust it, HCP trusts it, Bob Trusts it, mostly everyone does and it's on the list.

Moving the data to the SD card isn't a way to move the app's sensitive data ( like passwords or saves for games) at all. It just moves the app's resources. In an instance that the SD card was removed, most apps will keep the user's data in the internal data storage and when the user reinstall the app, his data may still be intact. Even using rooted apps will not do and I doubt there's a possible app for that.
Yes it's far fetched but still possible if the wallet app isn't password/passphrase protected. ( can the user create an unencrypted coinomi wallet?) But if a rooted phone with a loaded wallet was stolen, there is a great chance for the thief to get the coin by flashing a customized recovery mode that's readily available for geeky users, still, an encrypted wallet will be a challenge/impossible to steal. Agreed, a simple reset factory settings ( wipe user data) is safe enough with regards to Coinomy and other encrypted mobile wallets. @ worldtraveller321 In addition to the multiple replies of restoring via SEED, if in case your phone was rooted, you can use Titanium Backup or any related superuser backup app which can backup the whole app including the app data from the root directory ( app settings, accounts and everything) then restore it in a different ( also) rooted android phone.

What would you suggest power supply wattage should be? Would you agree with 600w that were suggested above?
You'll be needing at least 500W power supply for a single RX580 graphics card ( 185W) as the specs suggests. But based on the requirement, any good quality 400W PSU can provide enough juice to power your whole system. Since you're only using a single GPU, the wattage shouldn't be your first priority but the quality, be cautious on picking a new PSU.

I also experienced what you experienced ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) Then, read the previous replies. Most of us had experienced a stuck transaction longer than 4 hours and it's pretty normal during busy days of the week or different factors. Please stop replying to a week-old thread with a generic response like that, it's nonsense.

I didn't saw any BIP that has a similar idea to make a " cash" version of any bitcoin transaction. Probably because the very first reason we have a digital currency or even VISA is to be able to make cashless transactions. This may be a step backward. For me the old written/embedded Private key of a loaded address is still a good " cash-like " transactions. Hand over the Paper/Coin to the merchant, he sweeps it, wait for confirmation.. and it's done. The other two ideas also require transaction(s) to be able to complete the trade, what's the difference? But both are still inconvenient. And as I'm always saying, to be able for the mainstream to use bitcoins in a standard transaction like coffees and meals, it will always requires a centralized body to accomplish it.

Well he is running a IT company and 3 rental mining farms. So I thought he knows what he is talking about..... or maybe not.
I got a feeling that " that" idea wasn't your friend's idea. Seems like I've misunderstood the OP.

Your friend probably fetched that idea from the internet where facts can turn into rumors.
Mechanical disks like HDDs are the ones that's better off running 24/7 than periodically shutting down and turning on, not Capacitors. Heat is the major risk to your rig's capacitors' life, so turning them off during a hot climate or low/improper ventilating condition is better than running them 24/7. Under good room temperature and proper voltages, there's no point on shutting it down to maximize your profit, just don't forget to do a maintenance.

What do you mean "deanonymize"? Bitcoin was designed to be (pseudo)anonymous, the services that was build around/above it (like exchanges and payment services) were the ones that're not anonymous. If you want to stay anonymous, use a bitcoin core wallet or a alternative 3rd-party wallet (ex. Electrum) and stay away from other kinds of services that require KYC.

Why do you think that it's a good to ask such a question here in the Dev&TD Board? Got to Speculation and Read threads there. You may move this thread there if you want to. ( I'm sure this will get deleted anyways)

I had a backup of Electrum on an external hard drive, so I copied the Electrum folder and replaced the one on my PC with this, but it still didn't work.
Why doesn't your backup work? Do you get any error message? Or does it create an 'empty' wallet ? Most likely, he has a backup of the " Electrum Folder" not the Electrum appdata folder.
@ OP, what are the contents of your electrum backup? cache, certs, forks and wallet folders together with 4 differently named files?

Hi, I started a full node 20 minutes ago. I forwarded port 8333 tcp and the download is very fast. After 20 minutes I was at block 135100 I download around 300 blocks per second is this normal with a 400Mb/s Down and 40Mbs Up connection ?
That's not surprising considering your fast internet bandwidth unless, your PC got some bottlenecks like Low Ram and Slow Disk I/O which can potentially slow it down by half to quarter. If you're using a SSD, you might wanna move the data.dir to a Hard Disk since it looks like a waste of space for a premium storage.

The idea of spending Bitcoins for a coffee everywhere is too far fetched in this Country-divided world. Even LN isn't designed to conveniently use in those scenarios. In order to come up to that point, Bitcoin should be legally accepted by almost all Governments using any centralized payment processors that they " trust", and it's not in favor of the majority. However, based on the current events, Bitcoin is going strong as a Decentralized currency that can be used to trade not-so-small goods unlike pancakes and coffees.
Also, this doesn't look like a Technical Discussion.

Whatever I do, I can't change the fee. It has been stuck for 24 hours now, way too far from the top and will probably stay like that until I figure something out.
If the OP is a bit clearer, we can be more accurate on resolving your issue, but: Could be an " unbroadcasted" transaction that you've saved instead of broadcast ( if the "logo" isn't a green check, it's only a locally saved tx). If this is the case, just delete that history and your bitcoins will return as balance since the transaction didn't went through at all.

The problem is, if you didn't sign a message before your account was hacked, you won't be able to get it back.
The address doesn't have to be signed, as long as it wasn't recently posted and unedited, he can use it as a stake address. The problem is, if he does have an unedited post containing that address.

I think it's possible after you update your upgrade to the latest version you're doing. So causing damage to your wallet. Try going back to your original version. I think you should read the previous replies, I think, in order to see if the issue was already resolved or not. I think #ITHINK#ITHINKISATRENDINGPHRASEFORSPAMMERS
