5521  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it time for us to get back to trading? on: May 25, 2020, 08:35:25 AM
@Joyawan13 Although I buy into the ideology of trader trading in any market conditions but that has to be professional that must have studied and mastered their craft. I won't advice you go joining them if you're not capable of duplicating their success. We have traders that profit more when the market is in a downward trend and those who profit in a bullish trend. Although the later is more doable that doesn't means they're less of a trader.

Don't get pressured into doing what won't profit you just because everyone is trying to do it. The market this days is very unpredictable so I would advise to keep holding if that's what you were previous doing before this thought came into your mind. As for the altcoin, I don't think it's their time yet, might just be the market trying to trap some greedy investors/traders.
5522  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is liquidity and Why liquidity is important in a crypto exchange? on: May 25, 2020, 08:24:57 AM
Exchange searching for liquidity is one of the reasons why they mostly list project that are having a large number of community since this will attract the community into patronizing their platform and in return bring about liquidity to the platform. You can observe this strategy been deployed by new exchange and most time this project are listed for free.

Few months back Kucoin (one of the previous strong top exchange contenders) listed Binance coin on their exchange for free irrespective of them having their own native token that was a competitor to BNB. That move not minding what negative effect it'll have on their native token was simply motivated by the need to hurt for more liquidity on their exchange since BNB was having a lot of trading volume (especially during that period that move was made).

No doubt liquid is very important as wthout liquidity, an exchange drops off the radar like in the case of bittrex, poloniex and the rest that were previously top exchanges but today can't compete with the new kids.
5523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots are better than Dice. on: May 25, 2020, 07:44:51 AM
I think that slots are way better than dice because of their payout structure. Lets say you are hunting 99x in dice, in this hunt you will not get paid if you hit 98x. But in slots things are different and you will get paid for every hit though you are aiming for jackpot.
I know that most of the slots pay like 80-92% of what goes into slots but still if you compare it with dice (specially hit and run method) it is more profitable in long run (although in long run you will eventually loose in both games because of house edge)
I want you to ponder upon this and please tell me how much I am right in this line of reasoning.

You reasoning seems fine but you have to understand that what favor Mr A must likely isn't going to favour Mr B. I personally prefer playing dice games which I enjoy even though I'm not winning my bets but in slots games I engage in them strictly to profit since they're more profitable just as you have highlighted in your above statement. I don't advice others to gamble based on my own experience that's why you'll hardly see my giving gambling advice on which game is best or most profitable.

I only air my view backing it with the statement "that's what works for me" and ask the advice seekers to be willing to make some mistakes in other to discover what work just fine for him or her.
5524  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] FortuneJack Signature Campaign -Started 6th of April- Hero/Legendary on: May 25, 2020, 07:32:26 AM
If I say I'm not mad or devastated, then I must be the biggest lier on the forum. Just waking up after a stressful week/sunday and this is the kind of message I'm seeing first thing in the morning. Just hope it doesn't spoil the rest of my day. Already had plans for how my earnings will b used to contribute to my future projects in regards to my charity initiative as discussed on our local thread.

As a manager, I know what it feels, getting that news of ending a campaign and as a signature participants this isn't my first time feeling this way too but we'll be fine. You're doing well @Hhampuz, and I won't hesitate to apply in your other campaigns or future ones. Hopefully Fortunejack will change their mind and restart campaign in the future but until them, it was an honor promoting them.

Thanks Hhampuz and Fortunejack, lets give them our best this week as we always do.

I have a suggestion though. I have asked it in Royse777's thread in Project Development but looks like no one responded (since I just edited it Cheesy) but are you thinking of accepting other coins like ETH or XRP or any low transaction fee coins. We know already that the fee of Bitcoin is high already.

Please contact @Royse777 directly as he's in charge of collecting the funds. Thanks for showing interest.

PS: updated thread with image of purchased foodstuffs, more pictures will be uploaded soon as distribution has began.
5534  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Project Covid-19 : Supply to 20 families in Nigeria (Awareness thread). on: May 16, 2020, 06:09:29 PM
How can you now deliver products mentioned to people living in far North if you are not living around there or Western Nigeria.

Edit: Meanwhile, I need such support but I don't know how you can get all that across

This outreach is limited to families living within my street (maximum community) due to the lockdown and restrictions of movement in the state and country at large. In future times, we might think of extending our outreach to families outside my state and when that those occurs other forum members will be contact to oversee the outreach.

The best we can do now is spread the news so donators can see this initiative and support it. You can contribute any amount, as no amount is too small.

Information: If you'll be interested in donating or sponsoring future community outreach kindly send me a DM. Feel free to indicate on thread after donating for transparency. Funds recieved will be used to fund other outreach carried out by me or other members of the community specifically in Nigeria.

Second Community Outreach; Project Covid-19: Supply to 50 (Now 70) families in Nigeria, Images {Donate👇}

First community outreach (Supply to 20 families in Nigeria) completed successfully
Sponsor: Bitcointalk Project Covid19
Date: 14/05/2020
We are going to provide supply for 20 families in Nigeria. I and Lauda worked it out with one of our Nigerian forum member (@CryptopreneurBrainboss). It was really hard to figure out the best solution to keep a balance of the essentials and number of families. We have spent 5 to 6 working hours in last three days to figure it out and came up with a budget of $35.50 per family. I will list the items we have decided to include in the supply. The details update will be updated on this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5246208.msg54432150#msg54432150

But right now we need to focus on collecting the funds. The total we are looking at $710.

May I request everyone to spread the word so that we can quickly collect the funds and send the money to our friend so that he can start planning for everything, from buying the supplies to giving them out to the families in need.

Cheers,

List of items:
Garri - 10kg = 3,000 Naira ($7.5)

Rice - 10kg = 5,000 Naira ($12.5)

Beans - 10kg = 2,000 Naira ($5)

Palm oil 2lt = 1,000naira (use to cook beans) $2.5

Groundnut oil 2lt = 1000naira (use to cook rice) $2.5

Onions - 3kg = 1,000 Naira $2.5

Salt 2pack = 200 Naira $0.5

Curry 12pack = 500 Naira $1.25

Tomatoes 12pack = 500 Naira $1.25

Total = 14,200 Naira = $35.5 for each family.
Overall Total = 284,000 Naira = $710

Item's will be bought in bulk (cartons, bags) and shared equally among the families

$1 = 400 +/- Naira, the price for the foodstuffs aren't constant so price might increase due to the closure of market because of the Corona virus pandemic.

Additional notes: As a result of the 24hrs lockdown and closure of all market in the state (You can read more on that here), I volunteered to use my personal funds to commence the purchase of the foodstuffs and if possible deliver them to the 20 families before the 24hrs lockdown restarts. The foodstuffs are already on the way and when I recieve them, I'll update thread with pictures.

Due to additional logistics I decided to add an additional fund of $200 through my charity foundation {BrainbossCares}. Our donation to the outreach will be used to buy additional foodstuffs and to cover other costs to carry-out the outreach.

Work is already in process, I was asked by @Royse777 and @Lauda to create awareness about this outreach and that's what this thread is all about, no donation is too small.

Distribution completed successfully;

We are going to provide supply for 20 families in Nigeria. I and Lauda worked it out with one of our Nigerian forum member (I still need to ask his permission before mentioning his name but right now let me go without it). It was really hard to figure out the best solution to keep a balance of the essentials and number of families. We have spent 5 to 6 working hours in last three days to figure it out and came up with a budget of $35.50 per family. I will list the items we have decided to include in the supply. But right now we need to focus on collecting the funds. The total we are looking at $710.

Just to inform the community, I'll be in charge of distributing some food items to 20 family and due to the lockdown I'll be focusing on Port Harcourt as I won't have the opportunity to travel out of the state to visit other State. In case of future charity, I'll contact each Africa (Nigeria and other Africa nation) brother on the forum to provide some specific number of family truely in need and we'll come visiting to give some food item that'll sustain them for atleast 1 month or more but for now I'll be focusing on Port Harcourt/Nigeria.

Each family will get the basic food items like Rice, Garri, Beans, Palm and Groundnut oil etc. For now the food items won't be in bags for each family but in rubber (loco) atleast 2 rubber for each family. Images will be available when the distribution has commence. Big thanks to @Soldierswitlittlefaith once again for his reply that brought about this initiative and thanks to @Royse and @Lauda for trusting me to deliver on this tasks.

If you haven't visited the Project Covid-19 : An approach to support the Bitcoin community do so immediately and if you're capable of contributing to the project do so, no amount is too small. Together we'll defeat this virus and eliminate the suffering in Africa one step at a time.

5538  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin exceed 20k this year like in 2017? on: May 14, 2020, 06:36:26 AM
Hell no, this is nowhere near what 2017 was.  Before the coronavirus outbreak I was pretty optimistic about bitcoin's prospects as far as maybe hitting a new ATH...

And I doubt bitcoin is going to hit $20k this year, though it might surpass $10k and get close...

Maybe you should rethink this and give bitcoin a benefit of doubt, over the past couple of days, bitcoin has really surprised me. It has proven that it has the potential to do the unexpected although that isn't something new as bitcoin has always proven that in the past but the experience this couple of days came with was just something else. So everyone (most individuals including myself) was thinking after the halving bitcoin was going to dump hard and prior to the halving the price will continue raising but that wasn't the case.

I transferred some bitcoin to Binance hoping to take advantage of the dump that would follow immediately as a result of majority selling the news (successful halving) but It just surprised me that the trend has just been upwards since them. I had no choice than to rebuy immediately bitcoin touched $9300 meanwhile I sold at $8600.

5540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase down again during crash, is the exchange doing this on purpose? on: May 13, 2020, 07:57:03 AM
It seems that Coinbase has been dealing with this issue for years now and it's quite surprising to see the platform hasn't been able to fix it. Is there a possibility for the exchange to be allowing or conducting these outages on purpose?

I doubt they're doing so on purpose most especially as they stand to benefit more each time there's an increase numbers of traffic on their site as a result of either people selling or buying bitcoin in their numbers. The funds this traffic will generate as a result of fees charge by the exchange is just something an exchange like coinbase won't want to miss.

And assuming this is discovered to be a foul play by the exchange, it will definitely ruins their reputation which I'm quite sure coinbase won't want to risk that happening. A big exchange like coinbase though should have been able to tackle this issue but don't get why that's not the case.

Issue like this experience repeatedly by other so called reputed top exchanges is why we have to give credit to Binance for been ahead of the games. Assuming such issue was experience by Binance, they would had done sometime immediately to prevent the site from experiencing similar issues.
