5521  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Should I Upgrade? on: March 03, 2021, 03:14:50 PM
Why do you need to upgrade your cold electrum wallet, I do not think there is any need for that, only what you need to update is the watch only wallet, the cold electrum wallet is just for signing and nothing more than signing. But the watch only wallet will have the features you need to have on electrum, such as RBF and new features on latest versions.
5522  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: About crypto mixers on: March 03, 2021, 02:30:45 PM
I have come across https://bitcoinmix.org/eth before, but I have never used the service before, that means I am not recommending them at all because I have not experience about them and I have not seen anyone using them. I will better prefer to use mixers that are having campaigns on this forum, for ethereum I do not think there is one.

The best I can advice you that can help is to just use noncustodial exchange as third party on noncustodial wallet to convert the ethereum to monero and convert it back to ethereum. Cryptocurrencies transactions like monero can be be traced, making use of such will be good. But for bitcoin there are many recommended mixers to use.
5523  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trying to get my first multi crypto wallet on: March 03, 2021, 01:45:17 PM
I guess, in general, it would be better to pick a community-vetted open source wallet... Do your own research: it's not because it's in the play store or in apple's store that it's safe!!! There are several wallets, for example f-r-e-e-w-a-l-l-e-t, that are rumoured to pay people for good reviews in google and apple's store, but still rob you blind if you use them.
That is just it, playstores are not just the right place to download wallet, aside what you comment about playstores, also there are hundreds of fake wallets on playstores, very possible for a new person that do not know about crypto yet to download a fake one from playstores.

There's open source vs closed source, but just as important are custodial vs non-custodial wallets (tip: if you have the choice, pick the non-custodial wallet)
This is a good advice, but to include, it will be good to also not download any noncustodial wallet that will request for email, there are many noncustodial wallets these days that are requiring for email, they should not be used for privacy purposes.
5524  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigerian Bitcointalk Community Hangout. {Current topic: NIN & Local board} on: March 03, 2021, 01:02:48 PM
Baba your reasoning make sense that list na him want make people dey put mouth for official thread of campaign were him dey manage as team dey complain about signature and bounty say e no dey help dem project get enough awareness. Make we just dey do well we go make amm happen. Much respect brainboss
There should be other ways wey campaign manager can do that than to indirectly blacklisting some people. Waitin truly happen be say almost all wey dey that list just left him campaign for better ones, that kind thing come pain ham. We know as the thing be, if better campaign dey wey get better pay, na to leave for it without thinking, na how the forum dey. If campaign manager wan make people to dey comment for Ann thread of a company, the thing be say he suppose include ham for the terms of service. Or make him dey remind people to do ham for campaign thread, that list na rubbish.

I for ansa the questions if to sey I understand dem oh. Una know sey I nor dey fit read oyibo language once I nack enta dis owa house. Too much oyibo yarns nor dey good for my bori, you know wha I mean? 🤔🤔
To get local board no mean say you dey only post for your local language, it is about the relevance of your post to your community (Nigeria). I will advice you not to centralize all on Pigin as there are many things relevant to Nigerians we can also communicate in English, that topic about mining in Nigeria is one of them. Know say I no dey post for any other thing than a way to achieve local board. My campaign no dey couunt local board posts but still sacrificing my time to post here waitin go dey relevant to Nigerians, that is called sacrifice.

Considering I've never really mine Bitcoin, I can't really tell if it's profitable to mine Bitcoin in Nigeria. I've also not seen anything remotely about mining in Nigeria. I don't mean those mining apps on app stores but mining using mining hardwares.
I have not noticed this in Nigeria too, and as populated as we are, we suppose to to be part of the first 10 countries that mine most of bitcoin, I do not know what could be causing this. Maybe because Nigerians just like investing and trading bitcoin, not knowing much about the mining aspect.
5525  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: what trading communities do you hang around? on: March 03, 2021, 12:25:49 PM
The first to address is that we should not depend on any community for trading, we need to learn it in and out before making any steps towards trading. I do make use of many trading community, but not so helpful especially for day traders. I have had to learn trading the hard way to help. What I believe most in trading is the technical analysis, I do not use that to play and give more positive result than others. Also I believe much in fundamental analyses, like buying when I read on news about Tesla investing $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin. Both analyses are very important m which is the bases of success in trading.
5526  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Addresses and keys on: March 03, 2021, 12:02:38 PM
Does the wallet software interact with the blockchain to create an address?
NO.

If you need to connect your wallet to a blockchain to create your addresses, what is sort of privacy and security you will have?
A good wallet is a wallet that can be used offline and with air-gapped machines.
Airgapped wallets or offline wallets or cold wallets are the best because the private key is generated not online but offline. But online wallets also neither have to connect to blockchain before generating private key or addresses, all wallets, be it online or offline have algorithm intrinsically embedded in them to be able to generate private keys and addresses, nothing like blockchain needed regardless of any wallet.
5527  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Cashing out a paper wallet made in 2013 on: March 03, 2021, 11:31:29 AM
[Yes, you'd be granted several forks such as Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV and Bitcoin Gold on a 1:1 ratio.

As long as you sweep them into a compatible wallet (i.e. that support those forks), you could retrieve them.
If having the forked coin, he can just import the private key on a compatible wallet which will make the forked coins appear and spendable but bitcoin was sent to the wallet in 21018, all those cryptocurrencies forked before 2018 aside bitcoin SV, which means only bitcoin SV is likely to be seen if he sent bitcoin to the wallet before bitcoin SV forked in November 2018.
5528  Economy / Economics / Can the world be without poverty on: March 03, 2021, 09:29:32 AM
In world, there is hierarchy, that is why some people are rich, some are average, some are not that rich but still having good living some are poor, while the poor still look at some and still appreciate life because they are poorer. I am beginning to thinking laziness can be the result of some people not having good living, while some is purely due to ignorant an lack of knowledge and exposure, some even only lack information.

I am thinking with how people is, is there a way possible for everyone to live without being poor, though their can be hierarchy but in a way no one is poor? But I am thinking it is not possible. If anything happens today that the poor are richer and got richer than the rich people, the rich people will become poor too because life is not just balance.

Economically, can there be a way people can live and no one will be poor?
5529  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigerian Bitcointalk Community Hangout. {Current topic: NIN & Local board} on: March 02, 2021, 09:29:32 PM
Is mining profitable in Nigeria

Bitcoin mining has been profitable since the creation of bitcoin in 2009, the difficulty of mining has been increasing while mining reward is decreasing. But the bitcoin valuation in bitcoin price makes it still profitable to mine bitcoin. I know about bitcoin mining in countries like China, USA, Russia and some other countries, but I have no much idea about bitcoin mining in Nigeria. These are my questions:

1. Is it profitable to mine bitcoin in Nigeria?
2. Or, it will be better to mine altcoins instead?
3. Are their selling places for mining hardwares in Nigeria, like ASICs?
4. As CNB banned bitcoin, is it possible to import miners into Nigeira?
5. What are the factors making mining not possible in Nigeria to be amount the countries competing most miners are located?

I still want to ask some more questions, in mining, there must be constant electricity, cold weather will also help, but we all know Nigeria is hot, which means we need more access to electricity and cheap electricity. Normally, electricity is not good in Nigeria, a country of over 200 million population estimate generating very low electricity. I am think if it is possible to make use of solar to mine in Nigeria, maintenance of solar is not easy while solar itself is costly.

Will mining with solar profitable?

Not a must to answer all the questions, you can just answer the ones you are quite sure about.
5530  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin wallet in your pocket safe? on: March 02, 2021, 05:26:07 PM
I agree with this. While it's not prohibited to carry hardware in a pocket, I prefer to leave it at home safely and use a mobile wallet instead. Carrying it in pocket might be riskier if something happen that could damage the HW itself like an accident or something. But people have the right to decide what they want to do, they are responsible for the asset and wallet they own.
One of the reasons hard wallet is said to be risky is because people carry it all about, there are many cases mobile phone owners lost their phones, the practice with hardware wallets because they are potable is not idea and can lead to the hardware wallet to be stolen or lost. Like you said, it is best to just leave it at home, in a place also very safe and not reachable to anyone like intruders.

Thanks, but we. youngsters, are aware that hardware wallets transfer nothing, they need software app connected  to do this. They also hold nothing except priv keys. Wink
Not only private key, it stores all everything normal wallet had to store, including public keys and addresses.
5531  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: a reminder for the newbies on: March 02, 2021, 04:58:41 PM
Stop tracking prices take a break for several days, and you will find some good profits.
The timing of the right time to invest is very important, if you invest at the wrong time when the price of bitcoin is high and fall abruptly, it can lead to panic and selling, the timing is also very important, it is good to invest when the price has recently decreased already in order to be part of the people to take the next gain.
5532  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin sell-off over? Strong ‘buy the dip’ signal flashes for the first time on: March 02, 2021, 09:56:06 AM
According to news I read on last week Saturday was that miners are now holding and that institutions are holding too, which is indicating that the week will be bullish, and the market became bullish starting from Monday, a very good fundamental analyses. The price of bitcoin that dropped from $58000 to as low as $44900 was due to traders, people that are only looking for profit. Aster Tesla bought $1.5 worth of bitcoin, these traders fomo and buy, this increased the price of bitcoin so high at that time, and later the short term traders sell off which is likely the cause of the bear market.
5533  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Quit My Full Time Job to Trade Cryptos Full Time on: March 02, 2021, 09:35:48 AM
In the past month and a half i've made over 100k arbing different markets and developing a very hard-to-beat strat. I submitted my resignation to my full time job last week . Wish me luck.
In life we have hard decisions to make, you can even have a business of $5000 that can bring you more income, and you earned $100,000 already, if your salary is not making sense, you can leave the work, if you want to establish yourself and your job will disturbed the establishment, you can also quit it. If the reason you quit is for good, there is nothing bad. But I will advice you to get other things doing other than trading while trading patiently will bring more income.
5534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If an Altcoin has a chance to overtake Ethereum, which one would it be? on: March 02, 2021, 09:07:49 AM
Polkadot and Avalanche has a better chance to become a better version of ethereum but there is one thing that is very clear here, ethereum is oldy and these two projects are new comers, it's juts like saying bitcoin is oldy but we have better bitcoin wannabes, isn't it? So why haven't any defected bitcoin still? No matter what new projects brings or Introduced old projects will still always be on top
That is just the fact, ethereum is old and people like th embrwce such more but not in all cases, litecoin, EOS and many were old and yet overtaken by polkadot, so it depends. But I just see about ethereum is the DeFi and that people tend to investore in it. This will make it more even difficult to be overtaken by any other coin. Also, the gap between ethereum and the second strongest altcoin is very far and clear, this making their chances for such possibility of any other altcoin overtaken ethereum to reduce.
5535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you guys think about the Old coins? on: March 02, 2021, 08:59:37 AM
Nobody knows what tomorrow can be, but the fact still remain that if a coin do not shine this season does not mean it will not shine next season. But before considering this fact, you first need to check if this time will favour holing or not. Best you can do is to follow your mind because this kind question can not be answered by even experts. Follow news all around, make sure you know about the technical analysis and remember your sentiment can go a long way in helping, because the coins did not shine last season does not mean people are not going to still invest on such cryptocurrencies.

5538  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin become more decentralized over time? on: February 28, 2021, 11:51:26 AM
I don't think blockchain size should be such a big issue anymore as disc prices are going down and capacity is going up very fast, so we can expect more people will run full nodes and only this can make Bitcoin more decentralized over time.
But, if the blockchain size is not very large like almost 400 megabyte now, many more people will run it in a way there will be more nodes and decentralization.
5539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Another month of March on: February 28, 2021, 10:21:33 AM
I will keep this short, we all know how month of March do not favour bitcoin at all, bear market started ending of February and today is the last day of February, hope the market will not still go downside? I do fair the month of March because bitcoin and generally all cryptocurrencies do suffer in price declination during this time.

What you think this coming month (March) will bring?
5540  Other / Meta / Good to delete post or not on: February 27, 2021, 11:31:50 PM
I have noticed some people will strike out a particular misinformation on their post while some people will remove it entirely in a way no one can see it again. Also I noticed some posts that you will see in five minutes ago will be deleted, I believe some of the deleted posts are not from moderators but from account owners. There are some things that do pop up to my mind.

I do feel like I cheat if I posted already and another user posted under my post which make my post irrelevant, I think at times that if I delete the post that I cheat, that it ought not to be like that, but also sometimes it can lead to misinformation if it is not deleted. What do you suggest:

If some of the posts contain the misinformation, I can just strike the wrong part out. But in this case can I just edit it without need to strike it out but erase it completely?

Also if all contents in the post are wrong, should it be left not deleted or deleted for people not to read it at all?

Note: Quoted posts are not included and they should not be deleted and if corrected, the misinformation should be striked out.
