Sure but I think the people who would download it would already be interested in bitcoin anyway. Also if it was free online I would send the links to at least 50 people.

Anyway I am interested but need to think about it. Thanks.

You make a good point that has been discussed in great depth amongst the team. It was a hard decision to make, but for the first month there are certain limitations we need to place for our budget in order to insure that the magazine production goes smoothly. I believe there is room in the future for discussion on making the digital version free, but certainly not before there is significant revenue from both advertising and print sales to supplement it.

Here's some food for thought;

Somewhere in the world right now there is a similar 11 member team working everyday collaborating to bring a high quality magazine to print and release the digital download for free. Everyone downloads it instead of buying the print version and the magazine is unable to return their month's investment, cease production.

I strongly believe our publication is too important to the future of Bitcoin to make such a wreckless financial decision. That said, there's always room for solutions. I hope to hear any alternatives you can think of, because it's a problem as old as digital downloading itself.

Let me know if I can be of any service on anything else.

Well, when he says specifically "no international wire costs from your bank,"  I think the question is appropriate.

I think that's a miscommunication.

When you send money TO them, your bank won't charge you anything extra (other than what it already charges you).

There is no way CX could have a special agreement with every bank in the world to make it to where your fee is removed.

BUT you can choose to have the receiving party of a transaction foot the bill, and I believe that's what they're claiming they will do for you (at least reduce it to a flat fee of $5).
5543  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto X Change - No More Wire Costs - Deposit & Withdraw any Currency $5 Now! on: January 22, 2012, 05:58:06 AM
By $5 flat fee, does that mean $5 on your end?  Or is that $5 total including whatever my bank would normally charge me and whatever your bank would normally charge?

In other words, if I have $100 on Cryptoxchange and want it sent directly to my bank account, I would end up with $95 in my bank account?

Of course not. Every receiving bank has their own fee structure. There is no way CX could possibly know how much that will cost you.
5544  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Do you own a bitcoin business? If so... on: January 22, 2012, 05:52:46 AM
Yes I understand that, but as a potential advertiser $60 is a lot of money for 2,000/3,000 readers.  If you lose 5 pages of ads sales because you want 40 people to pay $3 for the download the math does not work out. However I might not be judging the market correctly and 1,000s might pay to see it, this honestly is not my field of expertise.

Thanks,

If you're only focusing on quantity, $60 for a full page ad can be a bit pricey, but let me ask you a serious question-- when you're putting an advertisement into a locksmithing catalog that only locksmiths read, would you feel the same way?

5545  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Do you own a bitcoin business? If so... on: January 22, 2012, 05:40:38 AM
I assume I could advertise more than one company/project on a full page ad?

It's entirely up to you what goes into your ads, but we have the right to refuse if the content is vulgar or it lowers the overall professional image of the magazine (I'm sure we won't have that problem much as we'll be helping create the advertisements for most of our advertisers), but yes, the advertising space is yours and you are free to divide it as you see fit so long as it does not affect poorly on the magazine's internal design (please coordinate with us before creating a design).

Also how many people do you expect to read this?

Our first print will be sent out to 2,000 readers. We expect to grow to the entire bitcoin community throughout 2012.

Would it not be better if the digital copy was free?

When we have reached a readership milestone of 50,000, we will reduce the price of the digital version to $1 (in BTC), as well as reduce the print version a significant percentage as well.

There is no way I would pay to get a digital copy:(
Myself an Android phone, tablet and iPhone user, I can sympathize. As an artist and a part of a team of individuals working hard to provide high quality material on a shoestring budget, I'm afraid I would have to insist.

We will make it easy however by allowing users to download our iPhone/Android application and pay to read the magazine with Bitcoins.

Hi, When will this be sent out, when do we have to have the ads sent in? Thanks

We're planning on a publishing date 3 weeks from today. You may submit an advertisement as late as 2 weeks from now if you need to.

Also, since this is the first issue, I will be here to facilitate the advertisement design process as well for any full page advertisements ordered.

Ron Paul called it the "Stop Online Gambling Act" during a speech earlier today. The first sign of cluelessness I've seen from him.

Nobody's perfect.

Reminds me of folding 10,000 flyers for my college prep school in Korea. That was fun.

This approach is interested to say the least.

Not many people just come right out and admit it.

If everyone would invest ten dollars (no great risk) we would really see bitcoin blow up.
i would prefer to see somebody spending 2BTC rather than investing 10usd in speculations

+1

If you're looking for a place to spend BTC, our new 64-page color magazine is just 1BTC.

This forum, and especially the newbie area is a hotbed of people just not understanding what this crazy bitcoin thing is.  It takes a while to "get it", but Bitcoin genuinely has promise and is already working.

Too true.

Ok put it in a report to delete your account.  Your welcome.

Did I do it right?

You're still a good bear. You can't fool me.

Dear Community,

We're publishing our first issue of the 64 page full color magazine this month, dedicated to the fast growing Bitcoin community (est. 1 million users since day one).

This magazine will have a special edition (no-ads) for educational institutions, a digital edition for android/iPhone/web, and a traditional print version available internationally.

This is a call to all businesses (start-ups welcome) who wish to be represented in our magazine across the globe. If you believe your product is ready for mainstream attention, contact us and we will work with you on a presentation and marketing plan.

You may submit your own advertisement stock pre-arranged, or we can help create one for you. Here are examples of two advertisements that I whipped up on my own for DialCoin and CryptoXChange.

We expect a readership of 2,000 issues the first run, that means that 2,000 people will see your advertisement.

Pricing and available slots are below, shoot me a message back if you're interest.

No one reply, i can't believe we'll have to wait until monday.
For the record, I've called Mark at that number on a Sunday even and he's picked up, so don't give up. Ring it off the hook all day tomorrow if you have to.

So, no news from BFL?

We'll be doing a full product review in 2 weeks when they hand over a single Vladimir to test and photograph in our UK office for BitTalk Media. Look for it in the first issue of BitTalk Magazine.

I am pretty offended. I requested an ASCII penis like, a week ago for someone selling their sig bar as ad space.

I loll'ed

"Sales tax will be added if shipped within the United States of America." So what is the American tax rate these clowns are charging anyway?

Try asking them.
There is no such thing as United States Sales Tax. It does not exist, kind of like the products they list on the page.

Hey I see what you did there,  that's really clever.

As for the sales tax, I'm not from the US and I understand perfectly well what they mean.

See what else you can come up with.   Really lacklustre effort so far.

You aren't from the US and have no fucking clue how sales tax works, apparently.

Explain it Simon.

What do they mean?

e: Someone quote this so mongoloid83 sees it.

Witnessed.

Yeah she is cute but not the kind of cute I was hopping for.

Off topic, How are the prices on GPUs in the second best Korea?

Thx

The good part about being in Asia:

You can always find it cheaper someplace.

The bad part about Asia:

That means that literally every store visible to the eye is overpriced.

Funny story, a few weeks ago I was looking for a replacement recording device that they sell on SweetWater for $300, and the going price in Korea is $900. What the fuck, seriously.

Yeah, you have to know someone, and everyone does so it cool, unless you don't.

Will we be able to see a photo of the shirts before we buy? Also better if "cute girl" is in one? I will be buying one for my GF if its decent:P
