Hey, I'm just musing. It's not that I don't like it. I just don't see why anyone would run a pool that way.

My phone has been lost for a week now, and I have not loaded up my Spinner backup yet (still waiting for new phone to arrive)... so far so good and bitcoins remain unspent If you have exported your private key you can move your coins using for instance blockchain.info or MultiBit, until you can get a new wallet up and running on your new phone. No I just exported the BSB backup You could use the android emulator for PC.

I feel sorry for them. It's pretty tricky. from where they surely were before '13, it's not like you can just order up a couple of dozen Dells and plug them in and problem solved. I think if it was me, I'd be emailing Google or Amazon pictures of large piles of cash to send some guys out on the fastest flight out to help.
Either way, I'm sure they're crying all the way to the bank. Oh wait...

By dynamic, what I mean is something like: "Aim to keep say 100BTC in the pot. If the amount drops below 100, decrease the amount per share paid proportional (or on an accelerating curve) to the difference. If there is more, increase the payout.". You can even dampen this somewhat if you think it leads to too much variance.
It just doesn't make much sense to me to try and stack a linear function against what is pretty much a random walk.

As long as he pays out fairly from what is found, I don't have much of an issue. I notice there are quite a few "immature" coins which presumably will be released when they're ready. Being "bankrupt" is not necessarily that much of an issue. I'm surprised anyone actually pays out before blocks are found anyway.
He probably could do with tweaking the reward a bit anyway. I'm surprised rewards aren't calculated dynamically to keep a level in the wallet anyway (given that work is paid for).

A Facebook cover photo would be great!
I 2nd this Going to have to wait for the AM. I can check what the size for facebook is but what is preferred size & ratio for desktop? The originals are a bit large for storage but I'm open to negotiation. As a teaser, this is what fully zoomed in looks like:

Water/alcohol trick? Just make sure you don't melt the hologram!
That's the one. I did pucker a bit about the hologram but I tried it with a quarter (and a $1 bill) first and it didn't even get hot so I figured I'd risk solvent damage.

Feel free to use the above for non-commercial purposes (tips appreciated, of course). High-res versions available... Have #4 in a high-res version that can be used for a blog article? Thanks. Sure. I actually have 56 images, but I felt those were the best 4 (many are mostly black). Native size is 15MP and available in jpg and raw.

To allay everyone's fears, both the BTC and Benj were fine. I actually had to burn it 6 or 7 times

I agree that 1k is not likely but... Well, who knows what shenanigans governments will get up to next. They're out of money and can't print their way out of more. What happens when they start plundering retirement funds?

Wow...with the amount of people making more with the climb in Bitcoin price, I am wondering if people are thinking the same thing as me...
drop this 12 to 12 job and start a Bitcoin business
I definitely am. Not trading but there's going to be some big opportunities coming up. I have missed out on at least one $$$ opportunity in the past because I didn't bail at the right time.

This does not change the fact that in the current capitalism system, money rules. And as you say, anarchists are against rulers.
See, there's the problem, money doesn't literally rule. Basing political ideologies off of idioms is not a useful practice. It's like trying to stop someone from wearing a loud shirt by invoking noise abatement laws. Someone could argue that government doesn't literally rule, as it's people who freely choose to elect their government, thus being their own ruler. And you are also free to to move to a wild and uncivilized area (plenty of islands in the world), where no tax-man will ever reach you. Again, your are free to be your own ruler. Would you consider this as valid logic? I bet not. Well, money rules the facto - the richest set the rules. You are free to work to become richer and set your own rules, but what if you are not interested in it? Same logic for the gov: you are free to present yourself to to any publicly elected position and set your own rules, but what if you are interested in it? There's the clue: "Government" -> "Govern"

Gnah!!! Of course secure passwords can be entered on phones just as easily as on computers and of course there are people who would do it wrong. This is no excuse for Jan ... for us ... not to provide encryption.
Easy option: Add encryption, call it Bitspinner pro, charge $1. Those who would find the option useful can have it, those who would likely mess it up will be discouraged by the cost.
