5561  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: NAMG - North American Miner Group - New Concept, NEED INPUT from YOU! on: October 13, 2015, 06:35:24 PM
Greetings, I currently I run a small farm of 70Th, I was thinking about an idea of a consortium, or group, or club with members, that Combine their equipment in one managed facility, the electric bill is paid without markup by the members, the members all pay a monthly mandatory donation to the club of 20% of what their miners made that month or flat membership dues.  This btc or dues goe into an operating budget for the club.  The club has a board that makes decisions.  Cost of the club are covered by the members..   I have lots of idea's, but lets hear yours, and yes I would be willing to build and or manage the facility, and yes I already have a facility I own and operate but with this club Idea i'm thinking a new facility, I can build it no problem as Ive built 3 datacenters before.  Each members would be an owner who could sell their share to someone else later if they choose, and we have max membership of 100 members. Who own minimum hashing power of 10TH

Lets have an open discussion with lots of input from miners and what everyone thinks of this idea?

Some specs, in chicago .06 cents per kwh, warehouse rent at about $6-8 sq ft.  power would be at least 800 amp 480v 3/phase $.06 per kwh, and maybe less on volume.  Off the top of my head without doin the math, I'd aim for about 500Th - 5 Ph facility.

What would you be willing to do, or specs you's like to see.

ok, go..

I like the price but I think you need to refine the buisness plan.  There is a HUGE difference your range "500Th - 5 Ph facility.".   The electricity requirements just are not close, or same on gear.

You need to start lower and work up.    I dont see jumping into a 5 PH facility you have lots of cooling to ad and many other things.  I would start on low end and see how it goes and upgrade higher if you max capacity.
5562  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] HERO member account-soon LEGENDERY! on: October 13, 2015, 04:34:35 PM
actually there is no fixed activity to become legendary, its random for each account you can become legendary at 784 activity or may need to wait for 1030 activity so it may take upto 1 year to become legendary member for this account, so either you sell it as high ranked hero member or wait until it becomes legendary
In principle I agree, with exceptions if OP account already have 784 activity, he every 2 week period have chance become legendary that difference agains "high ranked hero member", puts he to higher price level.

I really don't like the buying/selling of accounts.  But saw part about legendary so thought I would chime in.  I just cant imagine someone raising to hero and being able to part without sentimental or attachment to it.

On activity OP says 750+ this is actually pretty far from being guaranteed soon.  Take 1030 - 750 that is 280 and divide this by 14.  This could be 20 activity changes which is a lot of time.

I have been hero for a LONG time.  There is no way to rush it.  Don't count on legendary anytime soon.
5563  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] BITCOIN SILVER CUBE WALLET's on: October 13, 2015, 04:26:15 PM
I would buy one after seeing it. How do you load funds onto it? What is the weight of the silver?

Ofc will not be "everything silver" just the outside. Seed's, do you have any other suggestions?

You left out weight.  How much of silver is actually being used?   Also I'm not sure platting silver is best for sales.

If you are able to do full silver you get the silver coin collectors, pretty big group.  If just the outside is silver I almost suggest using a different metal as plated does not really excite me.

But we really need to see one of these made.  It's a interesting idea I want to see what one looks like.
5564  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S7 OVERCLOCK on: October 13, 2015, 04:20:43 PM
I'm not sure i"m gonna do it but i'd like to know how I can OVERCLOCK to the maximum SAFELY the ANTMINER S7?    Huh

If I had an S7 & if it was a 4.86TH unit and if I was going to overclock it I would adjust the psu to be 12V + 5% (12.6V) at the PCIE connectors then take it up a step at a time, check for HW errors and keep a close eye on the temperatures. Theoretically from the BM1385 data sheet about 725MHz should be possible, but with them reducing the spec for some Miners that is more uncertain than usual.

The above just my thoughts and in no way a recommendation, Overclock at your own risk. I am sure someone will hae tried it and have some real experience, but may not share until Warranty has expired.  Smiley

Rich

They really have killed some testing with their policy's now on warranty.  In S3/S5 there was a lot of overclocking and sharing of data.   I did not think anything about overclocking.  Also switching fans to quieter fan's they killed as it violates warranty.  I suspect some have tried it though to.

But now the 90 day warranty is violated by doing almost anything.   So basically first 90 day's you would be nuts to overclock.  I don't even overclock myself during warranty as I feel if I have a problem I will get screwed.   I don't suggest anyone overclocking.  And Rich is very right if it is happening it will not get posted, as then it's proof of void warranty.
5565  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to get highest free BTC? on: October 13, 2015, 04:14:55 PM
you will never get it free
you must have a internet connection, also you must spend your time to learn more about bitcoin
Yes that is right. If you think about it like that. You pay for your electricity and internet connection and that costs more than $1 a day. So earning from faucets - you lose money  Roll Eyes

Even if you used a RPI and a small screen you chances are losing money.  And that is saying something is wrong.  It just is to little pay.

The biggest thing I don't like is it teaches you nothing.  If you type capatchas... you don't learn a lot from this.  And in the end you get dust in the matter of cents just does make sense to do.

Internet I can see someone justifying as they would have that no matter what.   But electricity and time used on faucet are wasted.
5566  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: good places to hide paper wallet ? on: October 13, 2015, 04:12:01 PM
hemm how about save your paper wallet at compact-disc
is not bad place Grin very simple and cheap Smiley

Lol what if the disk get damaged?
better to store in usb then disk.

If a USB doesn't see power for a couple years it will lose everything.. becareful with flash memory.

A cd that is in wrong elements can also have bad problems.  CD's are not perfect.  I personally would go with multiple USB or paper wallets.

A paper wallet stored in a few safe places is hard to beat.  You can laminate it to last longer, or other things.  But I still would choose usb over CD.   But that is pesonal preference.
5567  Economy / Services / Re: Antminer s5+ purchase on: October 13, 2015, 04:01:13 PM
Just yesterday I was visiting a friend who is going to sell his three Antminers s5 for around $500 each. I think the price is a bit too high but he is confident he will sell them for the price. ... What country are you from?

He is wrong the going price for an S5 standard is 300$ with shipping included, that and the location they are in could definitely have moisture in the air and have damaged some of the hardware.

Depends where you sell it.  Ebay looks like 350 is doable but there is lots of fees.  On forum it is going to be more along the 300.

Only possible way he get's 500 is if he's in a country with huge vat/import tax (some are 25 precent which is crazy).  In these high vat areas I could see 400+ pretty easy.
5568  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild is CLOSED! Withdraw Your Funds NOW!! on: October 13, 2015, 03:56:38 PM
I have no pity for anybody who tried to use the pool as a long term storage of coins.  So far the pool has given people FOUR MONTHS of time to withdraw, and continues to do so.  Additionally, if you had looked at the pool topic which I continue to bump infrequently, the very last post (2 days before this garbage topic) states that withdrawals were reduced to once every 6 hours.  The pool pays above average transaction fees, and over the last 2 weeks it was occasionally paying a TX fee higher than the amount being withdrawn, since withdrawal fees on amounts under 0.01 were removed completely after the closure.

You got not reply to your email because by the time I looked at your email you had already received your BTC.

I think you have been very fair to say the least.  I mean I was surprised how long you have given people to withdraw.  If you were a bad person like this topic originally had a topic like you would have closed one day and just stopped.

But you did not do that.  I'm happy OP changed topic from saying he was robbed.  I saw that then read how he got his coin no problem.   Was a waste of a click.
5569  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Hands On] Bitmain AntMiner S5+ - Notlist3d on: October 13, 2015, 03:50:46 PM
Still working great.   I am up to 16 day's.  Something interesting is once again it hit neg HW errors which is impossible.  So something with the math of HW errors goes neg if you run it LONG term without any problems, and have low hw errors.

5570  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 13, 2015, 03:44:35 PM

Something wrong with this picture.
Why are there a poop load of s7's sitting on the ground in a parking lot?
Don't think I would be putting $2000 electronics on the ground.
Must have pulled them out of a dumpster.

Confiscated? Isn't it illegal to use BTC in Russia?

These were not in russia it was China.  Look at CYBTC review, he is in china. So no not confiscated.

I suspect he got a pallet of miners.  Likely does not care about boxes so unboxed them there.   He could have done it so we don't see his data center, or what hes using in data center or how big.   Or he just thought it would be impressive a lot laying outside in decent lighting which it is.

But I'm sure they took them and put them in the building beside it and they are now hashing away.
5571  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Oct 1 to Oct 14 picks are Closed. 2x bonus! + a surprise? on: October 13, 2015, 03:40:27 PM
Just looking better and better:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    60,813,224,039
Estimated Next Difficulty:    60,360,860,066 (-0.74%)
Adjust time:    After 294 Blocks, About 2.1 days
Hashrate(?):    440,834,274 GH/s

So bitwisdom is going down and down.  So good week before S7's give us that bad  bump.

ps. Sorry for my English
ps ps I participate in secondstrade as they pay in local forums, because my English is not allowing me to quietly obschatsya in forums with the English language,

It appears poster is trying to be mislead others with this. Don't know who was banned but they changed to add a sig campaign to it, which I'm guessing is not true.  Also edited saying not first language and tried to look influentially bad.

Odd to say the least

Okay listen up, this should not be explained multiple times. You're really lucky that some very tolerant people decide the shots (i.e. they're very tolerant to this spam). People like you have started making people really hate such campaigns and spend less and less time on these forums. If it were up to 'some other people' you would never be allowed to join back here again. Comparing your ban to some other members that are not banned will do you no good. Your ban was well deserved so wait it out and try to improve yourself.
so the fact that the signature of the company allow it to do, why not make a comment moderating these companies that they have changed the rules, maybe you're right about my ban
ps can I write messages in other sections, with this ucetni account while I'm banned?

No, you cannot post outside of Meta. Yobit and Secondstrade are part of the problem and I and others think there should be repercussions for the actual campaigns but that doesn't resolve their participants of blame and just because you can get away with it doesn't mean you should.

You also cannot PM others on forums besides staff I believe.  If your PMing I believe it also will count as ban evasion.

bla bla1 if you link to account most likely mods can give better answers.  Saying you were banned for same thing does not tell a lot.   No two peoples postings are the same (or should be).  So if you want a Mod to look into it provide more info.
5574  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining rigs rental is that profitable? on: October 13, 2015, 08:30:26 AM
Well i were surfing around the web and those site took my attention ,i see an average of 900 satoshis for 1ghs,is that profitable did anyone of you tryed it?is it safe? Looks like there is some users renting them, soo i suppose they get some income from them, and well looks to be safe ,meaning that with the rented rig it can achieve ROI.

Personally i think no, why sell it when you can earn more from it? But if you mean those sites where you rent miners short time i see a lot of potential if you jump on the right coin in the right moment. I did that with Blackcoin on the launch for example (also others, but that was the most profitable one) i would usually see that i mine for like 12-24 hours and then stop, wait a few days (or for the next pump if the coin was active and pushed) and sell.

The thing is most SHA256 alt coins are crap/pump and dump coins. There really is not a second sha coin that most want to hold.   So this makes renting hard as nothing besides BTC really brings good money.

On rental you will pay MORE then what it costs to mine the BTC.  So unless your pool was lucky or you are doing massive solo mining chances are it's a bad bet. Only thing is nicehash for some reason seems to be under sha price sometimes but add fees it really is not a super deal even when it appears to be lower.

Buying BTC or owning the rig is best long term.

Quote
Buying BTC or owning the rig is best long term.

I KNEW IT! I cottonpicking knew it! I was RIGHT to actually go and buy a couple rigs. I am barely surviving by instinct in this and I was really thinking buying rigs of my own

would be helpful, not JUST for BTC, but also for altcoins to mine, baghold and trade for BTC as well. I could also rent hashpower out as well.

It depends on your ROI math and if it comes true, on if you made right decision.  But if you were costantly renting BTC miners, with BTC most likely you were losing money unless you were betting on luck.

But long term rentals really are not great.  Rentals should be a supplemental hash.  Not something that needs to go 24x7 for weeks.
5575  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi Newbie here with a few questions! on: October 13, 2015, 06:16:04 AM
Hi I'm Nyx2011 and I'm wondering what the best way to earn btc is at the moment? Are physical goods better to deal in than digital? What are the advantages of using bitcoin in my shops?

It'll  gonna be a good thing, if you accept bitcoin on your shop for physical goods. But, is bitcoin popular in your area? Lot of members using it? And as above user said, no need to pay some % for the card companies and IMO, you don't need to pay the tax? Because, earning will not reach your bank account directly Grin

If a true business I would not recommend not paying taxes.   If you are not paying taxes and running a business in most countries that is not good.

If it's a hobby under a certain amount then check with an account.  But don't not pay unless your 100 percent sure.
5576  Economy / Services / Re: Antminer s5+ purchase on: October 13, 2015, 06:12:38 AM
Why are you wanting to go with an S5+ over an S7?

If he has cheaper electricity it's cheaper on GH/$.    The S7 if you have higher electricity makes more sense.

There are so many individual factors in mining.  Not one size fits all anymore.
Yes but S5+'s are hard to come by due to this reason he may have to ship internationally and really hurting his chances at ROI, that and an S7 will resale better later on.

Depends on the buyer.  If its cheap electricity the S7 has 4.86 standard as long as it is not sub par.   The S5+ is 7.72.  So that is a decent amount extra hashing power.

It really is not one size fit's all in mining.  That almost 3T extra hashing is nice for those with lower electricity bills.
5577  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 13, 2015, 06:08:51 AM
Glad to hear that your S7s are hashing well, so it seems lately shipped miners are working per specifications. Has anyone gotten a B2 miner within the last 2 days?

I don't think anyone has gotten a batch 2 miner at all.

Most of us are talking about batch 1, which obviously only a few people have received.

Other people who keep up with this thread and take a guess, but being optimistic I would say 50 batch 1 miners have been discussed as received. I'm sure plenty went to farms, and reviewers, resellers, the people who spent much more and have some pull you know, but not us little guys. Also many people aren't going to post about it unless they have a problem. They don't mention as much if things are going well, especially if they are a busy person, but yeah, if you hear of anyone having received a batch 2 miner please let me know because that would be an even bigger slap in the face considering batch 2 and batch 3 paid much less than batch 1. Bitmain should be offering to cut batch 1 prices and maintain the 4.8x.

But I digress, and now must go look at miner porn.

My S7 is running good so far.  I am under the impression that batch 2 won't ship until October 25th.

It will not be on the 15 that is for sure.   Really they did such a bad compensation they don't have a huge incentive to make the 25th goal.   They pay cost for time until it ships.

I thought about it and even a a horrible compensation like this it does not make sense the paying till it ships it should be the crappy compensation until it's delivered.  Say you got the miner on the 25 you will be mining every day after.  With paying only to shipping if they ship after they are not paying day's in shipping which it would have been running during if it was not late.    So that part I cant figure out.
5578  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to get highest free BTC? on: October 13, 2015, 03:48:14 AM
Join a signature campaign once you reach Jr. Member rank or higher. For really small earnings you can TRY to use faucets, but eventually you'll find out it's a waste of your time and money.

Actually Jr. Member is not going to be that big of jump.  Full member is biggest jump for most on pay.  It also is a requirement on many of the "good" campaigns.   Just takes longer to hit.

On faucets I would not even try you will just get dust in wallet.  You make pennies for hours of work in most cases.  Does not work out to even try on math.

start small earning isn't bad
junior member join sign campaign is better than he play faucet
also he can learn bitcoin and still get paid

is a good way Smiley

If you are talking about a small sig campaign I agree as long as post content is good.  There is nothing wrong with it as if you use it like me I would be posting anyways so a little extra BTC for it is a great deal.

If you are talking about faucets it honestly is not worth it.  Read about dust but that is what you get.  If it was not pennies for hours I would say go for it.  But typing captcha is not going to do much for learning. Using those hours to learn a skill to sell or something else would be better use.
5579  Other / Meta / Re: why my account is still blocked on: October 13, 2015, 03:41:40 AM
So can i use this account which i have created to post on the forum freely?
No, that is ban evasion and is against the rules.
If you have been banned permanently, you aren't supposed to be using the forum under any account.

Perma ban = you cannot ever use an account on the forums again unless it is changed.

Each time you register another and are caught it is additionally looking bad and will lessen your chance of ever being unbanned.  Your best option OP is be honest, don't pretend you did not know about evade.  PM a admin apologizing and say you will come back in a few months and see if they will forgive you.

If you are not ban evading and give it a few month's and come and ask admin for unban they might do it.  But it is not guarenteed.
5580  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 13, 2015, 03:37:02 AM
I never use DHL anymore, I learned when I ordered the S1's! UPS <3 ^^

I will test the following with a "kill-a-watt":
-S7 @ APW3-12-1600-B2
-S7 @ Corsair 1200 AXi, while running the controller of a separate PSU.
-S7 @ XFX 1250W, while running the controller of a separate PSU.

I paid in USD btw, not Bitcoin Cheesy

The reason I'm agitated is this:
-I have received ZERO information from Bitmain.
-It's shipping kinda late. <- This is however according to the agreed terms. It's fine, but still irritating.

If they in addition to this sent me B2 units, without telling me up front, and without giving me a choice to wait for proper miners. I will be pissed.

This is why:
I'm paying 25% VAT.
Which means I'm paying 2278$ per miner from Batch 1, but they sent Batch 2 instead.
If I were to order the batch 2, I would have paid 1981$ per miner. Thats a price diff of 297$ per machine. I ordered 6. Which puts the price diff at 1782$.
The loss would be even bigger over time because of the lower hashrate. This would be a slap in the face.

I'll be honest, its not about the money, it's a bad investment because of my VAT anyway. I'm mining to support the community, for the fun of it. Hell, I even bought em to support Bitmain!!
Part of the fun is to see if my ROI calculations works out, watch the difficulty change, and mining makes it more exciting to keep myself updated on Bitcoin, and whats going on in the community.

When that is said, I do not tolerate being treated like shit. If they won't accept my terms, I will find other ways to make this feel right. Schadenfreude is my shit.

In the end, I know I will sleep like a baby.

How are you going to not be tolerated what ever way they choose? When you said you paid with USD did you use a Credit Card?  I could see a credit card doing something.

I'm just curious how you are going to fight back.   For most part bitmain is take what we give you.  As we can see from compensation.
