5561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you record and preserve Bitcoin history? on: January 20, 2020, 04:43:33 AM
Yes, I actually somehow got lucky and hit a block with my Antminer S3 back in 2016, unfortunately it was with a pool however the pool listed the username of the block finder.

https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/block/399594

See the coinbase data text

"Mined by adaseb"

Actually I never even knew I hit this block until like a year later when I checked the F2pool history and turns out I actually found a block. Crazy!
5562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hash Rate Continues Climbing to New High Indicating Healthy Pre-Halving on: January 20, 2020, 04:37:06 AM
Don't know why this is always news, Bitcoin hashrate will always go up, even in bear markets. The reason why is due to improved efficiency of hardware.

Regarding the halving, in general its not great if the price of BTC is low. Because miners will need to sell some of their BTC to pay for electrical and equipment costs, if the price of BTC is low then they will need to sell more BTC to make up the difference in fiat, which means more selling pressure in BTC.

Sure the first 2 halving were a great time to invest in BTC, however keep in mind that history, especially in trading usually doesn't repeat itself. Many investors might end up trapped if they base their investment advice on articles such as this.

I Think we will trade sideways during the halving and maybe a higher price in 2021 or such.
5563  Economy / Gambling / Re: Binary Options (Financial Betting) Crypto Trading & No Deposit Bonuses in 2020 on: January 19, 2020, 05:42:18 AM
I don't really see why many people will trade crypto binary options when they can simply trade crypto in the same manner in exchanges without experimenting too much.
I think you are missing something about binary options. Trading on other exchange and trading on binary broker isn't same. Although I am not much familiar with binary option nor had tried to know about it, but realised from OP that binary have only Hi-Low options. Its something like bettings, not like trading at all. On the trading you may gain 10-50% a day maximum in each trade if you are lucky enough. But on binary broker you would gain more or loss more. On the trading you are directly playing with coins and on the binary option you are just playin with coin's price. That's different between trading and binary option (IMO). Most likely most of gamblers related with binary who are involved with crypto-currency. Because this is also look like gambling to me.

You are partially correct however the larger issue here is the large house edge that most of these binary option places charge. If I recall the house edge is like what "Win 90% of bet, Lose 100%" so the house takes 10% or so. Sometimes this is larger.

So even if you take 10 bets, and win 5 and lose 5, you are still out. And in my opinion its very difficult to predict these "Up or Down" binary bets on many instruments such as Bitcoin and especially with small timeframes. Sometimes maybe its worth it if you think there is going to be huge news and you don't want to get caught in a stop-wick before the real move, then binary option might be ideal. However there are very little situations where they are an advantage. You can just buy the spot asset or if you want more leverage just use a futures broker, the fees are less and you can get out anytime, don't need to wait for the option to expire.
5564  Economy / Gambling / Re: MegaDice.com - 0.9% edge Dice, 26 High End Slots, Bet on the House on: January 19, 2020, 05:18:46 AM
There are many bitcoin services and exchanges that have a feature to cancel a withdraw. Usually most withdraws are sent to a queue and then they are batched with other withdraws to keep the transaction fee small. Some places batch by number and some batch by some timeframe like every 60 minutes or so. So that is not sketchy.

I think there was a similar situation with a gambler on Safedice. He basically kept gambling, tried a withdraw, it failed, and instead of stopping, he kept gambling more and more and I think made more money, however unlike this individual I don't think he lost his earnings. So there is proof that some "gamblers" might keep gambling even though they know deep inside that they won't be able to withdraw their winnings.

5565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone still mining with GPUs? on: January 19, 2020, 05:09:30 AM
Are there any really lucrative GPU coins left? I guess not, right?

depending on the point of view, the main point is the cost of kw / h is low?

profitability has improved significantly in the last 30 days prices went up: ETC +146%, XZC +86%, ETH +37 %

Yes the price might of went up by +146% but look at the difficulty,
https://www.coinwarz.com/mining/ethereum-classic/difficulty-chart

In the last 30 days it went from 120T to 230T which is almost 100% gain. So the profitability only improved slightly, also keep in mind there are still miners which will make the switch.

The issue with ETC is the small miner reward, if ETH had a gain of 100% then the profitability would be much much better.
5566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PoW to PoS - questions on: January 19, 2020, 04:59:56 AM
We discussed this BFC coin in the Phillipama1957 thread and from some of the comments it might be a ponzi scheme so you need to becareful. No idea if BFC is but there was a similar coin that was and avoid it.

I think the reason why they make it required is to raise the price of the coin. They know that miners are desperate these days to mine anything so they started to charge miners just to mine a coin. In my opinion I don't think its really fair, especially with electricity costs and equipment costs.

Only hope that right now to get ETH at $500 or maybe a ProgPOW algo which. Both are possible sometime within the next year or so.
5567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What to do with Rx 5xx after April 2020 on: January 18, 2020, 07:18:56 AM
You sure they will be obsolete in April? By my calculations its more towards the end of the year. Anyone know in the off-chance if ProgPOW goes live if 4GB GPUs will be able to mine it or is there some type of DAG size with ProgPOW algos? Never mined it before.

I guess its good for the 6GB> owners because there is going to be a huge difficulty drop. Wonder if any of the ASICs will be having issues also with the large DAG file. From what I read that first Bitmain ETH ASIC was limited to a 4GB DAG, any higher it would be rendered useless. However no idea if they made an update for it.
5568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best and most affordable GPUs for mining? on: January 18, 2020, 05:41:01 AM
If you want the most affordable just get the RX 470/480/570/580 8GB GPUs second hand somewhere. They should not cost anymore than $100 and the 4GB models are even cheaper. Better to stay with 8GB since the DAG will exceed 4GB at the end of the year. So no idea how long you want to mine but keep this in mind.

Nvidia is generally more expensive and certain algos are more efficient. However keep in mind that you will need to pay more for those since there is more demand for gamers with Nvidia GPUs. The AMDs generally aren't gamers favorites and there are many RX series GPUs on the second hand market now from miners who are giving up and liquidating their farms. Check the classifieds of Bitcointalk forum and you should find some deals. If not then try eBay, Amazon, Craiglist, Facebook marketplace, Kijiji, etc.

Motherboards, frames, CPU, doesn't really matter. They will all work well. Just get a decent PSU and don't cheap out.
5569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Early halvening on: January 18, 2020, 05:36:09 AM
Bitcoin clock at
https://www.bitcoinclock.com/

Says that the halving will take place on May 9th while
https://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com/

Says that it will take place on May 12th.

The difference between these is that the estimate on May 12th assumes 10 minute block times, however block times are usually shorter than 10 minutes since the difficulty increases, hence the May 9th estimate is more accurate since it takes that into account.

It would be very difficult to make the halving happen anytime earlier, would be next to impossible to make it happen in March or April. Most likely first week of May sometime.
5570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is There a Way for Craig to Prove that He is Not Faketoshi ? on: January 18, 2020, 05:30:37 AM
signing message through the address that contains millions of bitcoin. Logging in using satoshi account in this forum and many more and he can do none of them. He's just faketoshi and people should just ignore him. Although it's true that he's making a noise for bitcoin but rather a negative noise and it won't help the development of bitcoin market at all.

The real satoshi can't sign into bitcointalk forum anymore. His email account expired a few years back and somebody re-registered it, and by re-registering it gives anyone the option to reset satoshi's password on this forum. So if someone tried to do this they could set off a huge panic by saying stuff like "I am going to market-sell all 1 million coins!" and there would be a massive sell-off.

Like the above posters have said, he just needs to sign a few of the early BTC addresses that he mined back in the day and it would be sufficent. People have been telling him this for years and he still hasn't. I think he showed some signed addresses to some reporters but it proved to be fake.
5571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming bitcoin diamond and superbitcoin easily on: January 18, 2020, 05:25:45 AM
Oh you mean claiming bitcoin forks? Few wallets are built to claim forks automatically, sending your bitcoin on PC is risk I don't want to take, put your bitcoin on coinomi or trust wallet any snapshot that occurs will reward you

Coinomi unfortuntely doesn't support Bitcoin Diamond, it supports Bitcoin Gold however.

BCD was a pain to claim to tell you the truth. Basically the BCD Pay app wallet doesn't have a feature to claim forked coins, and the apps called Bither and Bitpie which say they have functionality to claim BCD and other forked BTC coins, it doesn't seem to work. No matter what I tried I would keep getting "0 BCD Getable" and same with the other coins. I am assuming it doesn't sync properly to the BCD nodes.

Only thing that worked was that Bitcoin Claimer Python script that you get from Github, was a pain to set up also since you need to install Python. And it was also difficult because you need to find every trans id which you held coins. So for some that can be 20-30 trans id and you need to manually find them and see which are unspent.

5572  Economy / Gambling / Re: MegaDice.com - 0.9% edge Dice, 26 High End Slots, Bet on the House on: January 16, 2020, 05:56:26 AM
With the logs of his internet provider he can prove that he was not logged in at megadice.com when the losing bets were made.

Yes but most likely this would be next to impossible to get. You would need a court order because there are privacy reasons concerns. And no judge in the world would grant this just to prove some crypto case.

Then there are issues if the user was gambling with his mobile device which is very possible these days. I usually gamble on my home computer, when I leave the house I usually do it on my phone and my IP pretty much changes every few hours/days since I am using LTE.

The user still didn't get back to my previous post, concerning if he was using some bots to place his bets. If he used some bot then I am assuming he forgot to turn it off or it had some bug somewhere.
5573  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price on: January 16, 2020, 05:51:05 AM
Investing in Bitcoin is different than what most people are doing now a days in the crypto community. I understand why he prefers bitcoin compared to say stocks which might crash at any given moment given the crazy bull run they had.

The issue with most new adopters is that they buy BTC and then they buy alts to get more money and they usually end up losing most of it. Or they go on some exchange like Bitmex and go 100x leverage and end up getting liquidated.

Buying BTC on spot and holding for long term is a pretty safe investment. No different than say buying TSLA or AAPL right now.
5574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming bitcoin diamond and superbitcoin easily on: January 16, 2020, 05:12:56 AM
Giving this a bump because due to BCD rise I am assuming many people here who still hold any bitcoin forked coins want to sweep them and send to an exchange such as Binanace.

Here is the issue I am having. After importing to Bither and clicking "Get BCD", my address shows up but the "Getable BCD is 0".

Its fully sycn'd with the bitcoin network but there is no way to check if its fully synced with the BCD network. Anyone know how to make this process work? Or is there any other online wallet or some app because its a pain downloading the entire block chain.
5575  Economy / Gambling / Re: MegaDice.com - 0.9% edge Dice, 26 High End Slots, Bet on the House on: January 15, 2020, 07:08:15 AM
This is generally the issue with anything that is centralized. Its impossible to prove whether the logs are real or fake. From taking a quick glance they do look real, and I understand why Megadice can't include anymore info posted publicly.

But I also find it strange if he indeed was lying and did keep gambling until he lost everything. Most gamblers who lose everything don't generally make scam accusation threads saying that they were scammed because they lost everything by gambling but it wasn't them gambling it was the site who gambled for them and lost everything. This is why most people who make scam accusations they generally say stuff like "Your site has to be a scam because I rolled 15 reds in a row, etc".

Its impossible to prove, unless maybe with a court order, who is telling the truth here or not.
5576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Craig Wrigt = Satoshi? Why only Bitcoin SV? on: January 15, 2020, 06:52:10 AM
BSV is not the only coin that is pumping today. It seems that many of the privacy coins got pumped and many bitcoin forked coins. Remember Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Diamond, those had a crazy rally today also. I think BTG hit 100% also like BSV.

Seems like the alt-coin markets might be going parabolic again like in Q1 2018, basically everybody assumes its the top but it keeps going higher and higher and higher. Similar to how ETH finished at $1400 at one point.

So becareful shorting any of these coins because who knows when it will stop pumping.
5577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BSV goes up by 50% in 24 hours, bull trap? on: January 15, 2020, 06:50:14 AM
recently BSV market has seen a huge developments , increase of 48.8% within 24 hours.
what to do you think? will it touch $275.00 in next 48 hours?.
Now its price has passed the bitcoin cash price, and it is really impressive since the all time high before just touch $250. I don't know this is bull trap or not but the trader or its inveator should be careful about it. Just supprised with this movement price since there is no fundamental information especially from CS as its creator.  Seem like the cryptocurrencies price will touch another all time high not just for BSV only.

Yes it surpassed Bitcoin Cash price however it needs to sustain it. Most likely if there is no positive developements on Feb 3rd, it will come crashing down to the ~$100 area or even lower.

This coin is purely news driven and very illiquid. Basically this is what used to happen with Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin during the 2017 days. BCH would get pumped and BTC would dump when they were competing with each other against hashrate ways, difficulties and long block times.

In the end obviously BTC won and you couldn't kill it.
5578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will BitcoinSV takeover Bitcoin? on: January 15, 2020, 06:45:11 AM
People are basically most likely hedging their BTC with BSV in the off-chance that he really does have the keys and will replace Bitcoin with Bitcoin SV. When the price was low at like 0.01BTC people bought it just in case he actually wasn't lying however now you need to pay 4% of a BTC just to hedge yourself.

And another reason is that there are tons of shorts for this coin. Look at BSVBTCSHORTS in Bitfinex and you will see that there was a crazy short squeeze earlier when we pumped to like 0.25BTC.

This is generally what happens when illiquid coins have margin trading.
5579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin SV Could It Reach All Time Highs? on: January 15, 2020, 06:39:17 AM
This coin has very thin liquidity, look at the BSVBTC chart and see how it spiked to over 0.25BTC? And looking at BSVBTCSHORTS it seems that the shorts got squeezed pretty badly.

I think that this would be a great short here however I won't have enough margin in my account if it gets another liquidity spike to like >0.25 BTC. Seems like it would make a good low leverage short.

Pretty crazy how I sold this coin at like 0.012BTC when it got delisted last year on Binance.
5580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Gold : Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again on: January 15, 2020, 05:51:06 AM
This main ann for Bitcoin Gold really needs an update. I got some old forked coins I wanted to sell today and basically kept getting lost because none of the links work in the first post.

Most of the info there is outdated or the links are dead. I had to manually find many links. However for those that are interested the main page for this coin has moved to,
https://bitcoingold.org/

Which seems to have most update to date wallets and block explorers. Please change it on the main post.
