5561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: T-Mobile Sued Over SIM Attack That Resulted in Loss of $450K in Bitcoin on: February 12, 2021, 08:06:44 PM
I know at least two occasions, only in my finds circle, when mobile operators 'send lost SIM cards' to scammers.
Scammers will require for sim card of another person lying it is lost but not lost. This can likely be a collaboration between some workers in the company providing the sim card service and the criminals against the victim. Just as you said, I will also like the man to win the court case to be an example for the sim service providers to protect peoples sim by not sending it to scammers.
5562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / T-Mobile Sued Over SIM Attack That Resulted in Loss of $450K in Bitcoin on: February 12, 2021, 07:29:16 PM
Please, what can be the cause of sim swap attack? In most cases the victim are not to blame, the organisations for providing the service have to be blamed. The attackers are from the insider, from the company. The workers from the company will make a deal with others criminals to steal our sim from us. See this deadly attack.

T-Mobile Sued Over SIM Attack That Resulted in Loss of $450K in Bitcoin
Through sim swap, over 15 bitcoin lost.

You can read the full true story from here: https://www.coindesk.com/t-mobile-sued-over-sim-attack-that-resulted-in-loss-of-450k-in-bitcoin

Let us make sure our sim is working all the time, if we notice anything like our sim is not working, let us call the service provider or immediately go to their office to block this sim and get you another one.

5564  Other / Off-topic / Re: Explain Like I'm 5 - Bitcoin Explanation on: February 12, 2021, 06:30:26 PM
I think using only Coinbase and Gemini as the exchanges to buy bitcoin is not enough, there are hundered of exchanges out there. Also, you need to let people to know about privacy, how kyc can be required if using custodial exchanges and how this can be used to track their whole transaction using the blockchain explorer. There are many p2p exchanges that can also be used in buying bitcoin. Also are some exchanges that will not demand for kyc and alsosome like hodlhodl and bsiq remain decentralized exchange. Also, another means is the se of mycelium local trades.

Know that Coinbase is not supported in some countries, I will still prefer binance, but it will be good to make use of mixers or coinjoin before sending to your hardware wallet for privacy reasons.
5565  Other / Meta / Re: Request for Nigeria local board on: February 12, 2021, 12:16:02 PM
Guys, several days have passed and a lot has been said already. I suggest you appoint one person you all trust in the Nigerian section and have that person communicate with either Cyrus or theymos.
That is what has not yet been done, but hopefully we are going to message theymos and also Cyrus. I may later bring this up in Nigeria local board. With the increasing activities our forum is having, I think there will be a time theymos will found good reasons to give we Nigerians local board because we really need it for more transparency about trades among us and for guild about how to use cryptocurrencies safely Nigeria.
5566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My Transaction Stuck already 4th Day - Please Help. on: February 12, 2021, 11:33:17 AM
This is great, that means free acceleration still works, I have checked to know that the transaction was put in viabtc free acceleration. With the average mempool size we currently having, it is clear that viabtc really helped the transaction confirmed because the mempool is having many transactions to be confirmed which makes miners only to pick high fee ones.
5567  Other / Meta / Re: Some german guys keeps sending merits to each other for sig campaigns on: February 10, 2021, 08:14:59 PM
I dont accuse 1meow of anything but he is a merrit source and he has exchanged trust (despite no transaction), bumps for sig threads (to ask for sig sponsor), and merrit extensively with that guy.
This is not an excuss, does 1meow merit bullrun2020bro post that did not deserve merit? If so, you can just lists out the such posts as an evidence and bring it up here.

But know that merit can be bias in the local boardz but if the posts are not worth it, report them.
5568  Other / Meta / Re: Some german guys keep sending merits to each other for sig campaigns on: February 10, 2021, 08:10:34 PM
bullrun2020bro is a good poster, but there could be bias in sharing of merit in the local boards not only Graman boards, but as bias it may be, they still give it to posts that worth the merits. There is a board, I think German also, that they do give merit to almost all their topics, but that does not mean if the topics is quality and deserve merits. The non local board merit of a thing can be hard, theymos even like to give local boards merit source, it has reasons, but giving it to good posts is what is required. And as I know about bullrun2020bro, he is a good poster. Just  settle this between yourselves so that he can remove the negative trust from your account.
5569  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I convert bitcoin to another crypto with coinbase without any fees? on: February 10, 2021, 04:01:35 PM
Seems to be a scam. They will charge me again 1.5% to convert to USDC.
That is too high, if you are not from US, you can use binance for such trade, binance only charges 0.1% for every trade you make. If you are from US, you can try binance US, but I have never tried out the exchange before as I am not from US but I believe they will mimic binance some kind aside from the market volume of binance.com that is much higher and also much more trading pairs on binance.com.
5570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: February 10, 2021, 01:49:33 PM
First of all, we should know that there are some companies that are not providing gambling services but have campaigns on this forum, some are wallets, crypto mixers and some are exchanges. It will be good to also have ways we can take to support the companies we are advertising, for gambling gamblings, there is nothing there to use 5% of monthly payment to gambling, I like to gamble low but stake high odds, if I lose, nothing affected, but if I win, I will gain a lot. Anyone that do not safe may not have purpose in life, we should spend but holding is very important, bitcoin is also deflationary in nature, holding can bring more for us to earn passive income. Spending is necessary, I believe this is not a question we should ask because we do not have any option than to spend because we have to live.

5571  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling as a profession: there's people who live out of gambling? on: February 10, 2021, 01:35:54 PM
Perhaps, some people live from gambling, but I am not sure about the number of them. I am sure that there are professional gamblers who are playing gambling and make money from gambling. But I think they don't expose who they are especially for people who can make a thousand dollars from gambling. That is difficult to become a professional gambler because we need to master the games. We need to have much experience in the games, and that will need a long time before we can be a professional gambler.
You can like sport betting and know how to analyse, you can play dice and believe in luck and still think you are professional enough but not, you can try other ways of gambling like playing poker and win today thinking you are a professional, but if today is good, that does not mean tomorrow can be. There are many people that will just think that way and depends only on gambling, these kind of people will have money today and leave poor later. They may later have issue with their wife leaving them and their life becoming miserable. Any good gambler you see out there only depend on luck, they were just lucky to hit the jackpot. Nothing like professional gamblers, the more people see it as profession, the more they lose. But the more someone see it as fun, using low amount of money to for it, there can be a day he will win jackpot. Many people will gamble but out of 100, less than one will be the ones that truly make it from gambling actually, and that because they do not see gambling reliable but as luck.
5572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling strategies & tips from professional players on: February 10, 2021, 01:29:11 PM
For me, it doesn't really matter whether you win big or if the game you're in is purely based on luck or not. What matters the most if you want to minimize your losses is knowing when to carry on and knowing when to stop. People tend to overestimate their luck when they are winning, so they end up losing their money in the process, if everyone is fond of the concept of quitting while one's ahead, we will be minimizing our losses which is equal to winning too.
When I was an active gambler, I did noticed one thing, if I first started to gamble anytime I got money, I do gain a lot, but if I continue to gamble, I will later lose the gain and also later lose the whole money, including the one I first start gambling with. That made me known that gambling is very risky and discipline is very important, else, it can lead to losses. Anytime we gain, we should just stop to gamble, but many people will want to gain the more, but later lose more than they can think. We should build good risk management, but not only that, we should also build good mind set and discipline. And lastly, gambling should be for fun to make us have all these qualities..
5573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Newbie gambling sites on: February 10, 2021, 01:04:38 PM
It depends on the person who handles the situation because there are a lot of people can't handle their emotions and if they think they want to earn more and take back their loses the urge to make money back is too hard to stop and sometimes it causes of losing your money or double your money it's all about gambling guys take the win or lose the game. But for me it's better, if we have risk management and identify what are the, exceeds on our fun and budget it's too hard if you lose all the things you have because of this kind of mistake. Actually, it's better if we have a stop loss and take profit too in gambling right?
Gambling is completely different from trading, it is trading that have the feature of stop loss and take profit, it is just a concept used by traders to minimize risks, especially when they are not looking or watching the market. But in gambling, nothing like that, if you have a prematch game, you can not use such, also if you have online game, what is similar to it is to cash out, but it will not work out good many times. Assuming in online game, you bet for 1.2 odds with $50, if the team you take is losing already, what you can cash out could have reduced to $5.

Having a quality mindset and risk management plan is the best like you have once commented. If someone has lost in gambling, he should just stop betting for poor mindset not to set in at the time that can bring more losses. And if we win, we should just still stop betting because the more we bet the more the chances of losing.
5574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 09, 2021, 06:56:56 PM
FA Cup

Manchester United - west ham

I wonder how many goals manchester united will score... in the last game manchester united scored 3 goals against everton. before playing against everton, they scored 9 goals against southampton.

today can they score more than 3 goals? or will we see 10 goals?  Grin

City - Swansea city

I also wonder how many goals City will score? 3 or 4 goals?  Grin

FA cup can be surprising as weak team will want to perform if compared to premier league but West Ham is not a weak team either. There may be just little goals in Man United vs West Ham FA match. For Man City, the goals will likely be many.

5577  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Taking a loan to buy Bitcoin? on: February 09, 2021, 12:43:50 PM
I do not have to read all about your post before I will tell you taking a loan is not necessary. But if you think you can gain from it, you can try but you can expect gain and lose, this will make it difficult for you. I will advice you not to take a loan. The bitcoin market and crypto market generally are volatility, loan is not recommended for it.
5578  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Using oscillators correctly on: February 09, 2021, 09:04:57 AM
While making professional trading, only oscillators can not do it but it can actually help while trading, oscillators help traders to know if to enter a market or not, it tells if the traders should enter in short time or long time. If for example, the market has increased, many people will fomo, but using oscillator Indicators can still determine if you should still enter a market, but in a short time or if you should not even try to enter market for price will begin to fall already. But during a long fall, oscillators will indicate a time to buy for long till certain price is reached. You can combine it will other indicators like

1. Relative moving average for shourt term purpose
2. Exponential moving avarage to predict long term
3. Bollinger bands that consist of three important lines

One of the best and most common oscillator is relative strength index, oscillatory momentum is also a good one.

While trading, you still need to be very careful, read news for fundamental analysis and also know that indicators can fail at times.
5579  Other / Meta / Re: Request for Nigeria local board on: February 09, 2021, 08:56:05 AM
This being said I think Theymos will act only once the topics there get increased activity, so far neither Bangladesh nor Pakistan have been granted a board of their own still pretty weird that the topic for Nigeria is not pinned at least, that would get it a bit more exposure for certain and it's an easy thing to do.
Anyhow, good luck with the request.
The Nigerian local thread as being active since, maybe theymos do not check local board for other languages often, we suppose to have requested for that at first, but we see it not needed because the two Nigeria threads (Nigerian Bitcointalk Community Hangout and African Proverbs in Pidgin) are the ones constantly on the top list after the pinned local threads. And we think now that is high time to have a local board because of he increase activities we have on Nigeria local threads. We wish theymos to listen to request and Grant us one.
5580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Legder NANO X SAFE?? on: February 08, 2021, 09:38:02 PM
I have a very imported question?
Nano X charge you about 20 XRP to active your wallet and My question IS If they have no access to your private key How they can take 20 XRP from your wallet???
If you want to make use of any noncustodial wallet that support ripple, you will need to have 20 ripple in the ripple wallet, it is called ripple reserve, it will be there in the wallet forever, you will not be able to transfer it to any other wallet. This is just the norm of a centralized coin called ripple while such can not be implemented on decentralized coin like bitcoin.
