So what is the point in mining??

Surely theres a rig that can be built that could pay for itself and earn real money?

Isnt there???
You can mine with an FPGA board, but the investment would take you ~2.5 years to recover from.

Well, factoring in future BTC value loss, electricity price raises, difficulty raises and the reduction to 25 BTC per block in 2012, we would arrive at a recovery time of never.
5562  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 10 Rigs on: September 08, 2011, 11:18:57 AM
Hi

So your saying i cant make money producing Bitcoins?Huh

Yes, this is what it means. Also the more the BTC value is falling the more loss you will incur.
5563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: September 08, 2011, 11:17:28 AM
Keep things in perspective. Internet detecting is hilarious and fun, but if you're going to contact sponsors of a show that is not even related to Bruce directly (like the other programs there), I'd use proof not opinions. Getting other people hurt based off of a personal dislike of someone is not fair.

Links to court records of the things he got busted for would be actual proof.

These were posted several hundred times.
5564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Extreme bitcoin price fluctuation? on: September 08, 2011, 10:10:11 AM
The impossible just happened!  Someone looked into the future and saw that the flaw that cannot be fixed is fixed!

Jokes aside there are many ways for this to be "fixed", one way it may happen is technological advances will render the growing block-chain to be a trivial amount of data(and thus not a problem),
another way is there could possible be some people who will act as central nodes which contain the full block chain while other people just hold the last 200,000 blocks or so(I know this will some what centralize bitcoin but the number who have the whole block chain cannot be limited by the government and there's nothing to prevent the common BTC user from ordering a few extra hard-drives and storing the whole block-chain.)

My point is nothing is impossible unless you make it impossible for yourself.
Okay I have to take a shit but I don't want to. So it will be impossible for me to take a shit no?

Well, you could always go the cyborg route and get yourself fitted with a colostomy bag.
5565  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: new promotion at bitcoin.org.uk, almost as good as Bitcoin Faucet on: September 08, 2011, 10:02:49 AM
What do we call someone who posts on a forum for money?

Ad spam service.
5566  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I want to teach you how to make money. [Sticky Please] on: September 07, 2011, 06:09:06 PM
I can sum up Maria in a few points.

1. Very new to money making industry
2. Absolutely new to trading
3. Just discovered MT4 trading software
4. Perhaps made some quick profit with demo dollars.
5. Now see herself as an expert.

The whole thread and general approach used point to those 5 key points, enjoy!
6.  Bulgarian. Me being bulgarian...i can verify that they all want to screw you somehow. Don't fall for tricks!

I don't see anything wrong with screwing Bulgarian women.
5567  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoins. waste of money? on: September 07, 2011, 02:24:18 AM
wtf is additional schooling?  QUIT TROLLING.  all im askin for is articles about how awsome bitcoins is jesus

You should try employing some more efficient trolling methods. Yours is just uncreative and is outdated by about 10 years now.

I actually offer courses on how to efficiently and successfully troll forums. Depending on how much of your allowance is still available you might consider on enrolling in "Trolling 101".
5568  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoins. waste of money? on: September 07, 2011, 02:14:20 AM
Have you tried using your Bitcoins to apply for additional schooling? Because you sure would benefit from that.
5569  Other / Off-topic / Re: The word "Troll" on: September 07, 2011, 02:01:44 AM
What are you, a bunch of nerds or something?  Quit using it.  It makes otherwise intelligent people look like little children name-calling.  Find something more clever or just keep quiet.  I would love to see the dudes discussing the NYSE on CNBC being like "TROLL!   TROLL!   TROLOLOLOL!"  Seriously.  This is the reason none of you scored any pussy in high school.

Now really. You can't say things like that. This is reducing people to an unfortunate minority.

I'm reasonably sure these guys didn't score any pussy even after high school.

You, my Friend, are an Idiot.

No, the "idiots" are the ones that failed to read smoothies initial post correctly.
5571  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's the story with the recent theft? on: September 06, 2011, 08:31:32 PM
Mybitcoin.com had a large amount of BTC stolen from it.
A user named, allinvain, had a large amount of BTC stolen from him.

those two alone count for 50,000 BTC and higher? I think so.

mybitcoin had their coins stolen over a month ago.  I don't know with allinvain is recent or not, but the gay rich movie producer who lost his costs had them gone a month ago too.

So I don't think these are the recent thefts.

then what rumors did you hear? I have not heard anything about mtgox having another issue since they
had a major issue a while back.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=41632.0

But this looks pretty much like the user being the main part of the problem.
5572  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's the story with the recent theft? on: September 06, 2011, 07:37:43 PM
You'll get free money and be rich.  Cool
5573  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Log Chart Myth on: September 06, 2011, 07:27:30 PM
I scrolled to the end of that huge picture in hope there was a funny ending to it.

There wasn't.   Sad
5574  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Contributors-only forum. on: September 06, 2011, 06:25:02 PM
The more important question is whether those who qualify really want to post there.

Who wouldn't want to post in a think tank that closes itself to external ideas.  Huh
5575  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Weekly Ransom(1.7 BTC Target, 0.0 BTC raised) on: September 06, 2011, 06:17:59 PM
I also don't like the KKk in there. I don't think Bitcoin should be supporting such organizations.
5576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in France: first legal decision directly related to Bitcoin? on: September 06, 2011, 03:09:12 PM
I think when people realize the value Bitcoin is *NOT* what some silly bank in France decide or their legal system dictates, or what what the mainstream media makes of it, then the exchange rate will follow upwards. The more laws Bitcoin break, the better it will be in that aspect.

The true value of Bitcoin comes (or will come eventually) from the rigid system itself, the simple fact it is free from regulations, and not affected by any laws in any country even if it were to be declared illegal.

This means Bitcoin will outlive any country laws, any exchanges, any shit you throw at it, because that is the core purpose of it.

Pray tell and where would you buy something with these bitcoins if they were declared illegal?
5577  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Contributors-only forum. on: September 06, 2011, 02:13:46 PM
So this is going to be like a Soviet of Bitcoiners?

Offtopic:  Just saw RS boot doublec from #solidcoin for talking about this.  What a trip.

What? How retarded can one person possibly be?  Huh
5580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New Solidcoin Client Fully Open-Source! on: September 06, 2011, 12:38:45 AM
I also forgot to add, make sure your new client is compatible with the API changes that exchanges and businesses will be using soon. I'm not sure how you can get those specs until I've released them, but nevertheless you can probably try! Smiley

Have fun getting those to become relevant if the open-source client has more than 51% of the mining user base. Which is likely since pools often apply patches that didn't come from you. Smiley

Yeah the only problem with that is I have solved the 51% problem and that is also coming out very soon. Oops, did SolidCoin just protect itself a lot better than Bitcoin? Smiley

Furthermore when anyone new to SolidCoin google searches for it, guess which site they'll be getting? So yes please go convince the mining pools to abandon the official version in favour of some featureless fork of SolidCoin from an earlier version because they'll be removed off the site, no longer get new visitors and earn the distrust of the whole SC community. ie They'll die like SCGuild and Bitparking.

I think we need some new termonology to classify posts like this. Something like: "doing a Bruce Wagner".
