You can lose more than earn. Crypto is a 24/7/365 market. You can not catch every trade. If you miss one, do not worry - there's ALWAYS another trade.
Most of the traders are accepting in all the scenario but beginners are fear to sell in anytime so few peoples are not controlled in emotions. I dont see any future for this coin, sorry to say that I own a great deal of it as well but as soon as the price goes up a little i am planning to get rid of it. Nothing is happening with verge except news regarding successful attacks and pumps and dumps.
I think recently some positive news are comes in the market so you are not aware in this platform. Verge was accepted in PornHub pornsites so it will be start a good move in this platform. Crypto currencies are many they are stable for a long time.But some of the currencies are having a good situation for the last 6 month. I also think that EOS is best according to other released currencies.

i think long-term investments are more risky in a basically quiet risky market, you have to have a lot of experience and research before you invest in such kind of investment
Long term investment is good for Bitcoin and Ethereum so you should investing in these two you will gain more profit. But if you don't believe the long term investment you will not survive in this platform.
