561  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 750GH (up to 1TH) quiet miner, now shipping on: May 09, 2019, 12:43:10 AM
I don't bin chips, so the string performance is pretty much luck of the draw. Nothing ships that isn't tested for 550MHz at volt setting 4. Performance above that is not guaranteed. I've had some test pods max near 900MHz and some at 775. It all depends on how weak is the weakest chip in the string.

If you tweak the voltage up a bit it'll probably level out. More voltage means a higher possible frequency, though it also means a slightly worse efficiency. The autotune is designed to find the peak stable frequency for a particular device, and every device I make is adjustable.

Bitshopper has already asked about stocking them, so I assume so.

Check the NewPac support thread. This guy is basically a 12-chip NewPac with a few extra bells and/or whistles so the same cgminer installation instructions apply.

It's a push fan, not a pull (but of course you can turn it around). Dust filter's not a bad idea and the added restriction would be a good reason to upgrade.

Phil, 920GH at 775MHz is terrible efficiency. It's probably re-targeting for 675MHz. 730MHz at 100% will get you 1TH. 920GH on volt setting 5 is pretty good though.
567  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 750GH (up to 1TH) quiet miner, now shipping on: May 05, 2019, 03:52:04 AM
Yep, and it did that with one stock fan and no case, which means no ducting so the airflow from that one stock fan wasn't even optimal.

It'd stay cooler with a stronger fan, but there's no need to go overboard. And two fans is stupidly wasteful, only necessary for highly constricted airflows like this specifically isn't. Why does everyone think everything needs two high-end server fans these days? It's frickin' 120 watts tops. Keep it simple.

If you're worried about heat, just watch the red lights. They start blinking at 75C.

(but hey, you buy it you can do whatever the heck you want to it; hacking up hardware is the reason I got into this game in the first place)

Zero chips could be the main regulator tripped out from a too-weak USB hub, or it could be a hardware issue. Try running it by itself, maybe adjusting the voltage down a bit and see if it comes to.

More than is practical.

The USB chip uses the presence of 5V on the bus line to detect its state of plugged-in-ness, but that requires something like 35 micro-amps of juice. Approximately zero power draw on the USB bus.

It would not be painless, because the seller is responsible for his own customer's service and support and if I get reports that so-and-so is leaving his customers in the lurch I get to blacklist that guy forever and then have to handle his customers anyway.

The reason I didn't jump at the offer is the same reason I haven't sent these pods to my international guys yet, or to a couple other domestic folks I already know and trust: headache reduction.

There's a nice illustration in the first post.

The auto-tune is designed to push the miner to the edge of stability for peak hashrate. It's not unexpected for the miner to hiccup every so often, which is why we built the ability to reset the string into the hardware and software. It's basically the "Zombie" condition we used to get on 2Pacs, but now cgminer automatically recovers. Which is pretty cool.
574  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 750GH (up to 1TH) quiet miner, now shipping on: May 02, 2019, 03:47:21 AM
That's... not well at all, sir. I bet if you check, it's plateaued and re-targeted for around 600MHz. If you step the voltage up (top button) and restart cgminer it'll draw more power but you'll see a more frequency-appropriate hashrate.

The formula for these guys is basically six times the NewPac formula. MHz * 12 * 0.114 so 700MHz should see about 960GH if it's running full steam.

Updated thread title to reflect "stock" settings and that the miner is now actively shipping, no longer a pre-order.
576  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 up to 1TH quiet miner, available for pre-order on: May 01, 2019, 05:37:59 PM
Yep. The eval units went out before I had the R606-specific serial script set up so they're flashed as a 12-chip NewPac. It works because this was built off NewPac base design for IO and the like, and because VH always builds the driver to be really versatile and detect the number of chips rather than assuming based on product string, which let me tell you is really handy for testing.

All pods are tested to operate at 550MHz (750GH) at volt setting 4 (OXX) for 24 hours before being shipped out. So you should be able to get at least that much speed out of it.
577  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 up to 1TH quiet miner, available for pre-order on: May 01, 2019, 03:26:55 PM
Probably, but a) the miner's barrel jack is rated for 8A and b) I'd be wary of the efficiency and reliability of a 120W power brick for $12 retail
578  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 up to 1TH quiet miner, available for pre-order on: April 30, 2019, 01:46:24 AM
Wait a couple months and they all will be tested in an environment with 40F, because the majority of my shop is not climate-controlled and also is home to 50KW of real miners.

But when I ran one at blistering top-end speed on my ~26C workbench without a case (and therefore no ducting), i had to block the fan to get much above 60C.

I'd pretty much just leave it as-is. Unless you're doing something really stupid, the included fan should both be quiet enough and move adequate air.

By the way, the sellers with prototype units haven't seen this feature yet because it wasn't implemented by the time their units shipped but if the R606 gets too hot (that is, the internal temp sensor reads 75C or higher) the volt-setting LEDs will blink at you.
580  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R606 up to 1TH quiet miner, available for pre-order on: April 29, 2019, 08:53:08 PM
As for noise, it's pretty quiet. 80mm 160mA 12V case fan. I don't have a decibel reading but it's quite nonintrusive from more than a couple feet away.

Sound is negligible, quiet as hell and I even mounted a second fan on the back.
