561  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin-enabled Q&A software on: November 03, 2014, 04:54:18 PM
https://BitAnswers.com - our site does just that. BTC, LTC and DOGE bounties, and tipping. Over 900 registered users and 200 questions, since Rugatu has closed, we are the biggest Bitcoin enabled Q&A site. We used question2answer as a base, and built onto it for our custom design and bitcoin.

You have a PM.
562  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin-enabled Q&A software on: October 30, 2014, 08:22:03 PM
I spent more than a bitcoin getting questions answered on Rugatu.

I wanted good answers quickly, so I paid.  It was well worth it.

Has anyone had trouble with the withdrawl functionality reverting to the previous 'saved' btc address, rather than using the new address you've just typed in?
564  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin-enabled Q&A software on: October 30, 2014, 06:39:36 PM
I feel like this would be difficult to implement, seeing as this concept has been implemented many times, without having to pay a bounty for solving a question, Yahoo Answers being one. Obviously, people would be incentivized to give a better answer, but altogether, I feel the bulk of the population would still rely on the free websites rather than having to pay.

Those with chegg subscriptions make my jelly tho.

Have you seen the quality of answers on Yahoo Answers?  It's so embarrassing they should have closed the site by now.

It has been implemented, at Rugatu and JustAnswers.
565  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin-enabled Q&A software on: October 28, 2014, 10:45:06 PM

What do u mean by bitcoin-enabled Q&A software ? Those who ask Q will be charged and those who answers will be paid in BTC ?

Yes.  Basically the questioner sets a bounty, people answer, and the best answer that the questioner accepts receives the bounty.  The questioner can decide how much or little the bounty is.
566  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoin-enabled Q&A software on: October 28, 2014, 08:01:50 PM
There used to be a site called Rugatu which was a bitcoin-enabled implementation of OSAQ.  That site is no longer alive.

Does anyone know of any open-source Q&A software that is bitcoin-enabled?

If not, is anyone up for building it (for a price)?

567  Economy / Services / Re: project for a developer $350 on: October 28, 2014, 06:17:19 PM
I'm resurrecting this ancient thread because the idea proposed in post #4 still hasn't been done AFAIK, and I still think it's a good idea.

Any takers?  Counteroffers?  Suggestions?
568  Other / Off-topic / Re: Venmo: do you use it and why on: October 24, 2014, 09:33:46 PM
Is it the social aspect that's so attractive, or is it a particularly easy way to transfer money that keeps them using it?
569  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: October 24, 2014, 09:32:00 PM
The bear market is well underway but damn I can't wait for a *real* crash to start. I thought maybe it would happen in October but I still haven't gotten the right setup yet. Maybe November or December now. We shall see.
Wasn't the original expectation for this sometime in 2010 or 2011?
570  Other / Off-topic / Venmo: do you use it and why on: October 11, 2014, 07:15:53 PM
I have just (belatedly) been introduced to Venmo.  I'd like to hear from users as to why they like it.  And if you could tell us your approximate age (under 30/over 30) too...
571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: October 10, 2014, 07:06:07 PM
I see blocks are typically found every couple minutes, but today two blocks were over 2 hours.  These blocks had a larger number of transactions in them.

What is the connection between block size and time to discover?

It's the autoswitching mining Pools. In case you havent noticed, rates allmost doubled yesterday. That means mining AUR became profitable to them. They bashed the hashes for a short time, leaving the network with high diff, but low hash. This results in slower block times. Time for DGW3 shield!

Wouldn't merged mining with LTC solve a lot of problems for AUR?

I just found this thread.  This coin is still alive?  What became of the original dev?
574  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: October 06, 2014, 03:24:26 AM
i posted this in another thread and they sent me here and i got 1 answer also on it so i will post it here see what your responses are cause im kinda worried. BELOW is post i put in other forum  Smiley

so i am going to ask a question in general since i mostly post on these forums. I would like to know everyone opinion " with out the troll or negative unfounded answers " what do you all think is going on with bitcoin. Seems like it has been dropping like crazy i mean we not near any holidays or anything like that so what do you all think. Once again please no troll answers or people mad who bought btc at like $600  and now it has dropped.

thanks  Smiley
Well, we've seen it drop from $30 to $2, and we've seen it drop from $266 to $38.  Now we're seeing it drop from $1200 to somewhere under $300.  I'm not sure there's any 'reason' for it beyond human psychology.
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: September 08, 2014, 02:17:08 AM
what s up here? Auroracoin still alive? Are there any devs left?

Work is still happening.  The forum isn't very active, but some of the members at forum.auroracoin.org have been moving things forward.  I hear an Icelandic exchange is to come online in September.
576  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: August 18, 2014, 01:19:26 PM
There goes that support. I didn't think it would hold, but damn that was quick.

Very very bearish IMO now...

What does very very bearish look like to you?  Under $400?  Under $300?? Shocked
577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: viacoin.org index page hacked? on: August 10, 2014, 02:20:41 AM
yeah, pretty sure because I duplicated it in another browser

There is another possibility - what you are describing is what often happens if your computer has been infected with malware / adware.

Except it happens only at this site, and other people experience it only at this site as well?

(P.S. I'm running Ubuntu)

The first time I landed on viacoin.org and Get Started I got a pop-up all in Russian that didn't look like it was associated with viacoin.  Anyone else get this?
580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: July 28, 2014, 02:09:06 PM

Wait for the local ISK/AUR exchange before you throw in the towl. Then for the first time Icelanders can buy the coin and  merchants can sell it and hopefully an economy can grow around the coin.

People in Iceland can't buy the coin now because of  currency controls. They can't buy usd and bitcoin to buy the coin.

Oh really?
From where did you get that crap?

Link to a source or get the hell out of here with your lies.

You seem pretty sure of your opinion, maybe you could tell us where Icelanders can buy USD or BTC.
