Counterparty does have an exchange. I used it a couple of times but I don't like it because it is very slow. It works on the Bitcoin blockchain so when I place an offer to buy some coins it can take a long time untill someone fills it. There's also almost no volume on that exchange. I rather use Poloniex and sent my coins to my counterwallet when I have them. I don't like to store my coins online as well. But Counterwallet and Omniwallet (Mastercoin) work in a different way. They have to be quite evil to steal your coins. Your password/login won't leave your webbrowser. So they have to put some evil code on their websever to fool you. For as far as I know there are no binaries which you can run on your PC. Mastercoin is working on something like that and used to have that kind of software. From the website Even if you only want to get the extra coins on the 5th of november you'll need a place to store these new coins. Counterwallet is your only choice then, as far a I know. My BTC and other crypto's are stored on my PC running the wallets. For these 2.0 projects that's quite hard. So I take the little risk with the online wallets Counterwallet and Omniwallet. With Counterwallet I can store StorJcoins, Counterpartycoins, SWARM, BTC and more to come. With Omniwallet I can store Maidsafecoins, Mastercoins, etc. Hope to see some software for my PC so I can store them even more safe at home.

So it is just an Ann and the software does not released yet?
Correct, and look what happened when BitsharesX launched their software StorJ marketcap only 1 mljn. dollar so far. In 24 hours over 90% profit for those who bought at the right time.

Could someone explain to me how can one make profit out of swarm? I mean, does every crowdfunded company distribute shares to all swarm holders for example?
Yes they do, as long as your coins are in a counterwallet. If your coins are at Poloniex you don't receive the coins as dividend. That's the great thing about Counterparty. No more Swarmcoins can ever be created, but Swarmcorp can pay you coins as dividend as long as these coins run on Counterparty. So the 5th of november, 5 projects will be launched, and within days you will get a number of these coins as dividend. People already received Comiccoins for the Hunt for Satosi. That's the great potential of Swarmcoin. Maybe someday a very profitable project is launched and you already have the coins before other people do. And you got them for free by owning Swarmcoins in your counterwallet. Here's a look at my counterwallet. I blurred my name and adress. But as you can see, I have Swarmpre. That was the first coin launched by Swarmcorp. The holders got payed out SWARM as dividend on the SWARM-pre coins. We all got coins to vote and we choose "issue". So we got even more Swarmcoins by just being holder of the Swarmpre. The first project on Swarm was a testcase and payed out Comiccoins as a dividend. I also bought some extra SWARM on Poloniex. They're here a well. Got myself some StorJcoins and Counterpartycoins as well. I believe Crypto 2.0 is gonna be huge....... So the most easy step to get some SWARM is by creating a counterwallet at: https://counterwallet.io/The next step is to create an account at: https://www.poloniex.com/ and buy some Swarm using BTC. The next step is to sent the SWARM to your counterwallet and relax and wait for the dividends from the projects to come in

I've been following SWARM since before it was even official, and the SWARM team is clever and motivated so I don't really understand the whining here. It appears people want things to happen instantaneously, without giving that much thought. I agree, it's a beautiful startup. And you can get in by creating a counterwallet on Counterparty (5 minutes of work). Get some coins using Poloniex and store the coins in your counterwalletwallet. After the 5th of november you will get coins of 5 new projects paid out as dividend. I think it's a great idea. Within a couple of years you get paid out maybe 20 or 40 different coins. If one of those projects goes to the moon, a lot of money can be made.

The crash is probably not good for Swarm, but it made me buy a lot of coins very cheap. Swarm did what they promised, I got my coins to vote, got my comic coins, and within a month I will get coins from the new projects payed out as dividend. Trading the coins on Counterparty is awful slow without liquidity. The good news is that I can buy coins on Poloniex, just like trading other coins. I'm buying more and more before the 5th of november event. If you see how BitsharesX got to 80 mljn. marcetcap in a couple of weeks, Swarm can do the same.

I have a lot of small blocks. Some 1600 blocks are now starting to stake after something like 20 days. I'm using coin control to create blocks containing 3000 coins these days. The interest doesn't change with the bigger blocks isn't it?
No, it doesn't change, BUT the block that you're hoping to stake is essentially trapped until it actually stakes - I mean, you don't want to loose 3-400 HYP just to make it into a larger block. Really, anyone who's selling on exchanges should only really be selling the blocks which have freshly minted, otherwise, personally, I find the loss of interest after 24 hours or so too much to loose! I always wait for the coins to stake. After that, when I have a lot of different blocks, I use coincontrol to put the coins together in new blocks. I don't like loosing stake either

Staking is taking so long......
I have some coins with a weight of 28903. Are they close? What's the best weight for coins to stake??

Staking takes a long time these days. I use coin control to create 1600 blocks. Should I change that number??

@vancefox
I'm running Windows 7-64-bit. My system didn't got the .config file. I changed it to a .conf and then it only connected to the right nodes. So I think Windows will only take tekcoin.conf
|
|
|
@johan I'm now at 410225. 80% of the blockchain. I'm connected to 3 peers, all on with version: 60007 and "subver" : "/tekcoin:2.0.0/" How it will sync in the right way now. Then I can check my different wallet.dat files. I stake for some friends as well. Some coins were at stake when the whole network got splitted. Hope things will work out fine this time

Use connect instead of addnode and change listen to 0. How can I block ip's who are on the wrong subversion???
"addr" : "86.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx", "services" : "00000001", "lastsend" : 1409256090, "lastrecv" : 1409256075, "conntime" : 1409256065, "version" : 60006, "subver" : "/tekcoin:1.1.0/", "inbound" : false, "releasetime" : 0, "startingheight" : 273006, "banscore" : 0
I have a number of good ip's now.
I did that. But named my file tekcoin.config tekcoin.conf that's the right one: listen=0 connect=74.196.63.95 connect=75.90.67.140 connect=68.229.91.209 connect=108.59.185.202 connect=98.236.102.116 connect=75.91.15.240 connect=94.156.230.246 connect=212.21.68.60 Now all the nodes are the right ones. I'm at 75% of all the blocks.

The recommended IPs are showing:
"version" : 60007, "subver" : "/tekcoin:2.0.0/",
Should the subver be 2.0.1 ??
Thanks, Jason
Where can I find this version etc. Is it in the debug console??

ok guy im new o the coin world , so pls help me , do i delete everything for tekcoin , but make a backup of wallet from file ; backup wallet . with result in a dat file
Yes, and if you search where the wallet.dat is on your system you can find it by (on windows 7) going to start and then in the searchbar type: %appdata% You will find a map called: "roaming" In that map there is a map called Tekcoin. That's where the blockindex and the wallet.dat are.

Ok, here's the current state of affairs, and my own take on what y'all ought to do. There is a fix in the works, I'm not a programmer so if somebody catches an error in this, it's mine, not Defaced or presstab or any of the other gentlemen working on this. But the current state of affairs goes more or less like this, from the release forward. Thundertoe, Defaced, and I had a testnet forked off the main chain roughly a week before the official release of the update. It worked without issues after the second attempt, so we released it. Unfortunately, the sudden huge influx of stakes coupled with a coding oversight in NOT putting in a checkpoint caused a bunch of forks. So what we're doing now is syncing two or three wallets (I think it's three), after which an update will be released with checkpoints built in to prevent this mess. In the meantime (and I think this ought to be complete by morning (It's 1:42 Mountain Time as I write this), I would suggest all of you make sure you have a good backup of your wallet, and not do any transactions right now. I had to leave for a while, so I'm not certain if the pools have been all informed of this mess or not. So feel free Crytpsy is aware, in fact at least one guy from Cryptsy is helping us with it. We now know what to do, but it takes a bit of time. When the checkpointed version is ready, it will be released as quickly as possible. I kind of thought something was wrong when so many of you reported staking and confirming without issue. There really should have been a mad amount of orphans for at least a couple of hours given how long the staking had been frozen. Turns out I wasn't just being paranoid. Rest assured, you won't lose your coins or your weight, but it's probably best to turn off your wallets right now, until we get the update tested and distributed. I believe, but am not certain, that the new version will NOT be able to connect to older clients, thus alleviating the problem from multiple angles. Just remember, Tek does things in a big way. It works good most of the time (this I believe being it's second major issue in it's existence) it stakes big, and apparently, it fucks up big when that time comes We'll get there, and shortly. This remains my favorite coin, and I'm just as eager as anyone to see it work right. Work continues apace, though I'm pretty sure Defaced has gone to sleep for the night. keep the faith, and we'll be back very soon. Great, I'll wait and see when the new wallet will be online. What about the staking.... Is it a good idea to go the %appdata% roaming directory and rename the (backedup) wallet tot something like wallet1.dat and restart the client? This way, the network won't be flooded by all the staking coins just like yesterday. Isn't that the reason that things went down? All these nodes sending signals to the network? My node disconnected from most of the peers, probably because it got way to many data at the same time. And what about releasing a fork just like a couple of days ago..... It it very fair to give everyone a chance to download and update to the new verion days before the fork is done. But maybe you should just announce a date for a fork, then put it online as a download minutes before the actual fork is starting. That way not all the people will be on the same fork at the same time. This way the network won't be flooded with stakes.... Don't know if this would be possible, I'm not a programmer.
