561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred GPU Miner v3.2 on: April 23, 2016, 11:40:36 PM
So i tried moving some other machines over to dual mining and having alot of problems with the 3.2 version

several machines will just reboot them selves while mining the dual alogos, no error message nothing.  I wiped one machine with 6 290x cards back to stock windows 10 default drivers 15.300  ( always gets installed no matter what i do, even if i turn off network and mnually install 15.12 crimson when i check the device i see 15.300 /shurg  one machine with that same driver works fine in dual mode)

tried default intensity 30 and higer same deal machines just randomly die after about 10 mins

any ideas ?

Don't use win 10... problem solved Tongue

Great answer......  Undecided

Win 10 is rock solid over here, fastest os regarding mining i ever used. No shit with installing gpu drivers when having more than 5 GPU's. It just works.

Try 3.0 Marvell1,

Works perfectly over here, had some small issues with 3.2 as well.

Also add -ethi 4 to your bash, could solve your problems too..

So.. do you power every single riser and don't use power connector for pcie of H81?

Waiting for update... I'm doing something similar but you do it better Smiley

For the H81, you need to plug two molex connectors to the motherboad. So you do not need to use all the powered risers. I use 3 powered risers.

Nope you don't, if you have powered risers you don't need to power the motherboard with those extra molex connectors.

Those Molex sockets are there in case you would use non powered risers.

ElioVp can i ask you hardware configuration for 6x ring with Nano? H81 mb? Dual power?

Sure thing.

H81 Pro BTC
Intel Celeron G1840
8GB Ram
6x powered usb risers.
Lepa G1600 or G1700 PSU
So single PSU, works perfectly (i can push all 6 GPU's to their maximum with an undervolt).

I'm ready testing my latest rom. Reduced again some watt, not that much but worth it again.

Will upload and share this today or tomorrow.

Greetings!

ROms sent via email thanks in advance

Here, done.

Link

There's an experimental one in there as well, you could try it, but first try the other ones.

Please let me know how it went.

They all have -100 core voltage, and -100 mem voltage.

Nothing else changed except the experimental one, i changed the voltage given to the memory controller as well.

Please be carefull, i don't own any of these cards so i cannot test these.

The roms i provided for Nano i do have and are tested quite well.

The rom i shared for the R9 390 nitro works as well.

Greetings!

I have the XFX 1015MHz version. So I tried the XFX mod, both mod flashed.

It seems the core voltage is the same as before, there is no -100 mv voltage reduction.

I do notice the VDDCI changed from 0.938V to 0.885V. I used the -100 mv aux voltage.

The power consumption is the same as before.

Hey!

Could you do get me a registerdump of your card?

Download AIDA64 (extreme is fine)

Right click in the left bottom, go to ati and get me a dump there and share it please.

With that info i can mod it more specific.

Thank you.

looks great ill try these on my MSI 390s tonight, can you create one with a default core voltage reduction of 100 as well

thanks !

Sure.

Try this one first.

-100mV both Core and Mem

If it's stable, i'll lower it some more Smiley

Hey,

i use HxD and a calculator to modify the values.

After that i use Fiji Bios Editor to fix the checksum Smiley

Greetings

I would like your bios but its hash rate is a bit too low for me I have around 8 saphire nanos

I notice on afterburner you cant reduce the memory clock on any cards not even 390s  You can reduice voltage a max of 100mv of course and power tune and core clock.

would this tool work on the R9 Nanos and the 390s to reduce voltage and Memory clock ?

https://github.com/OneB1t/HawaiiBiosReader

or can you provide a new modifed bios that  hashes at around 150mh/s rather than 130ish leaving 30 mhs on the table seems kind of a waste.

Hey Marvell1,

The rom i shared has a mod on the core voltage (-100mV) and a mod on the mem voltage (also -100mV)

You can open afterburner and go even lower.

So if you set (-12) you will have -112mV

You are correct, you cannot reduce the memory voltage with afterburner or any other software.

This has to be done with a hardmod.

The Rom i shared can easily hit 150Mh because you can still set 1000 as core clock (it is stock set at 1000).
Thus giving you full power but with less energy usage.

I will share my second rom as well. I will edit the op.

This one is even more energy efficient.
Although it is set at stock 800Mh Core clock. (you can up this to 1000 in afterburner if needed).

Greetings.

Thanks for the response on this Eliovp , please do some of your brillaint work on the 390s they seem to be great cards not as good as the nano in saphire Trixx it seems you can lower thier
voltage all the way down to -200mv although it starts to climb back up.  Also with lower memory freqency and voltage like you did for the nanos they would be even better.

Ill try you new Rom on the six nanos i have but i have around 23 390s lol

Hey Marvell1,

Thx for the nice words.

I went ahead and did a small mod on one of my 390's (NON X) rom.

There are 2 roms in this pack.
one with -100mV on the memory voltage
and one with -150mV.

Core voltage is still stock (you can change this with trixx or afterburner.)
Core clock = 1040
Mem clock = 1500

Link

Make sure to use your backup rom position.

Good luck and have fun! Smiley

What is the difference between this one and the previous one? Did you change other voltages or something else?

Lower mvddc, better timings, fixed dpm values :-)

Some dwarfpool-side results, with a watt-meter reading, would be gladly appreciated.

Have you tried claymore's dual miner with such low voltages (eth+dcr)?

I suppose that it would be too unstable with blake256.

Keep up the good work ! Smiley thank you!

Hey Nikolaj.

First, i'm not mining on Dwarfpool. For several reasons.

They already have to much hash rate to start with.
I clearly get higher readings on other pools.

I'm currently mining over at ethermine.org

I have a picture here of my Amp Clamp hooked up on my testing rig.
This is with 6x nano all with my second Rom i shared at stock settings. Nothing extra changed.
16.1.1 drivers windows 10 64bit running Genoil Ethminer 1.0.6, doing 132Mh/s

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_cBBoZ_PTwOYTdtTGc1Um9MTW1ELTVuYWhiaDZoMEVFb1Vr
So 570watt

Funny thing, i got the same hash rate with 16.4.1 drivers but a little more energy usage
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_cBBoZ_PTwONTFKbURLUF82UE44S0dtdlNMOHhRcVJxMTFj
575watt

I have indeed tested Claymore's miner with these settings:
dcri 50, running both eth and dcr.

also everything at stock (from my second shared rom, so 800 core clock, 300 memclock).

This gave me 130Mh eth and i believe around 3,2Ghz on DCR.
Downside, it went to 5.1A, so 1120watt.  Sad

I had to down clock my core clock to 650 to get the same wattage as before. Obviously this lead to a serious decrease in hashrate.

I also tested solo mining eth on all 3 of Claymores versions.

All of them obviously used more energy at only a little change in hash rate --> 135 Mh...

At this moment i'm doing a test on Windows 7, just for the fun of it.
it seems that it's not better at all. (hash rate -> energy).

Done a test with 15.12 Crimson drivers. 3.2A, also 132Mh.

Will be doing a lot more testing this week.

Will report back!

Greetings!

I found a way to lower memory clocks with MSI Afterburner, even when this feature is disabled in AMD driver, so, we need:
...................
Weird.
I usually enable Unofficial overclocking "without PowerPlay" and then I can change clocks up&down.
The problem is - if I stop the miner card clocks are stuck at those set in Afterburner (eg cards not downclocking to 2d clocks)

And if somethinmg goes wrong with saved settings - PC hangs.... one must go to safe mode and disable Afterburner

True.. Theres a folder (profiles) in afterburner setup dir.. Delete that and you're set :-)
570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred GPU Miner v3.0 on: April 20, 2016, 08:27:09 AM
If you check unofficial oc and disable ulps and without powerplay you can still oc or dc.. I gave this info over at ethereum forum with pictures..

However you cannot lower memory voltage, which will still be at stock.

It will consume less though and you will be able to hit better timings.

After you done these steps, hit apply with a new clock your screen will go black for a sec and you'll know it works :-)

So yes this is the best way to downclock.

You can aswell add flags to the afterburner shortcut.

F.e. /w24 .. Etc..

This will as well give you more options to go even deeper..

Anyhow. Best results are obtained with a hardmod :-)
Trust me i've spent countless hours trying to find my optimal settings :-)

If the R9 390's memory voltage can be reduced. That is excellent. We need no more than 1250 MHz.

I have no experience with HawaiiBiosReader.

But i'm sure you could perfectly modify your bios with a hex editor.

I would advice you to look up some tutorials. It's not "that" difficult.

I do own some 390's as well, so when i find some extra time i'll look into it and report back.

Mmm not seeing any improvements Sad

6x Nano, stock settings(cards), 175Mh

V2 - 175 Mh/s
V3 - 175 Mh/s

Exactly the same :p

I'm working on next update:
- Further improvements related to DAG files, for example, even better stability when new epoch is coming, perhaps you already noticed that miner did not crash at new epoch #45 as official miner usually does.
- Performance improvements for weak cards and Fury.
- Checking shares on CPU and warn if GPU calculates them incorrectly (usually due to overclocking).

I'm curious Smiley

Sure, i'm using it on ether mine.org

works fine!
577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: R9 Nano Modded Rom on: April 15, 2016, 04:14:05 PM
my MSI runs with 1100 MHz@-60mV nonstop since two weeks. Good compromise between power consumption and mining power.
Also overclocked HBM memory temporary to 525 MHz, but this seems to have no effect to MH/s, so I lowered it to 500 MHz again.
Anyway, R9 Nanos are amazing cards! Cool

The HBM is already fast enough. The bottleneck is in the GPU core. That is similar to the R9 390 series.

True, it's fast enough.

But the issue isn't the bottleneck regarding the GPU core, it's purely the fact that all these "mining algorithms and their miners" aren't designed "yet" to handle this amount of bandwidth. In short, HBM is in a way not yet fully supported..."

Thanks

Yes i am.

Also tested on ubuntu and works perfectly as well.

Have fun!

Very nice results, i am impressed with your modification. Did you tested stability under other circumstances than ethereum mining? For example other Dagger coin (Soil or Shift)? What about other, more energy consuming algos (DCR), are they also stable with modded bios?

Hey,

Yeah i have tested other algo's as well.

They all work perfect with my bios.

The only difference is power usage. Which is obvious. Smiley
