Don't this incentive spamming?

No, at least not as much as the old system since your join date is taken into account and you can only up your activity so much in a short period of time.
562  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: attn mods: please remove false feedback from my trust profile on: June 18, 2013, 09:05:14 PM
Mods cannot remove false feedback, and we would prefer if it stayed this way, like on bitcoin-OTC. Before the complaints come in, note that I've a few false feedback either anyway.

John,

How about a way to at least address the negative feedback?  They had something similar on Ebay (maybe it's still there haven't used it in years).

For example, if johnblaze receives a negative feedback from CanadianGuy, he gets to make a small retort.  Perhaps a link to the scam accusation thread or a 160 char limited response.  This way people looking at feedback have a little more context without the trust system getting overly spammy.
563  Other / Meta / Re: Activity on: June 18, 2013, 08:58:09 PM

Thanks, now I don't have to try and figure it out.  I was going to use you as an example (we both have very close registration dates and post count).
564  Other / Meta / Re: Activity on: June 18, 2013, 08:54:03 PM
I like that it adds weight to when you joined as we have clearly seen people pumping up their posts just to reach a higher tier even if this means some people go down a notch (myself included).

Not going to happen.  Banks feel entitled to cheap money now, it will be incredibly difficult to wean them off.

566  Economy / Speculation / Re: Flashcrash this month on: June 16, 2013, 09:42:07 PM
Thanks for your candidness, but please don't start a thread the way you did again. I mean you never mentioned "I think", "this is speculation", etc in your initial thread. And, the title of your thread is not a hypothesis, it is just a statement. That is sort of manipulative if you know what I mean.

I would assume that is rather implied considering it's posted in the speculation sub-section.  Anyone taking anything posted here as anything more than a hypothesis is a fool.

I'm saying the chinks in the armor are starting to show.  This is a major US city.  Another example, Illinois also has the largest unfunded pension liability in the US at over $100 billion.

What about accounting/finance?
570  Economy / Economics / Nope, Not Cyprus on: June 15, 2013, 12:55:33 AM
Unsecured bondholders are being asked to accept 10 cents on the dollar.

78,000 abandoned and blighted structures.

40% of street lights do not work.

Only 1/3 of the ambulances were in services during Q1 2013.

The average police response time for Priority 1 calls is 58 minutes.

99.6% of the OPEB (Other Post Employment Benefits) liabilities are unfunded.

Emergency Manager was just interviewed and admitted they are "insolvent."

If you're still wondering where this is, it's Detroit, Michigan.

572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2013-06-13 Latest from FinCEN on: June 13, 2013, 08:29:18 PM
overall very positive.

they just want to regulate the exchanges.

users/miners unaffected.

I read it a little differently. It sounds like they're claiming a wide territory:

Quote
Those who are intermediaries in the transfer of virtual currencies from one person to another person, or to another location, are money transmitters that must register with FinCEN as MSBs, unless an exception applies.

Right, an intermediary, or a third party is a money transmitter.  A miner moving Bitcoin to an exchange has no middleman.  A miner purchasing goods directly from a store uses no third party.  It's the intermediary that has to register, not the miner.
573  Economy / Speculation / Re: price will pop back up to $120 monday morning on: June 09, 2013, 07:58:59 PM
If you see this bet from USD point of view OP would win $120 or more and would lose less than $120.

Yup, he essentially has given himself odds.  Although you could easily hedge if you're on the other side, assuming everyone follows through with payment.
574  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 cracked...time to buy?!!? on: June 09, 2013, 06:31:39 PM

100 Dollar is a important Level, when this doesn't hold....what next? 50?
But if it hold, it would be a good point to buy.

What do you think?

I think seeking investment advice from quasi-anonymous people on a free messageboard is an excellent way to lose money.

That lack of rebound is disturbing.

Yeah I thought we'd see some support at 100. Wow.

I thought the GT-R was an automatic?  (or the fake-shifting type) and the transmission can't handle the power.  The Lotus is a real sports car.

There's always this:  http://www.arielatom.com/buy_an_atom.php   Not really a DD though Smiley  I like how the cat is an option.

It's a dual clutch paddle shift.

The walls at 105-106 remain consistent but more noteably, the wall at 100 has not budged.  If we rip through 100, panic will probably set in and who knows where it stops.  But much like after the Dwolla news, there was tons of momentum heading into 100 and it just stopped.  If I'm betting and I am, I say we're going into double digits some time next week but, there is the possibility that we could bounce off 100 and see a rise back up to the 110-115 range.  It's possible.

I think it will bounce, I don't see it going straight through $100.  That level will have to be tested once or twice at least.

No offense but it sounds like you have no idea what you want.  A lambo to an escalade is jumping from one spectrum to the other.  I would test drive whatever you finally decide on, especially if it's something like a Lotus.  That car is incredibly tiny and low to the ground, a huge pain in the ass to get in if you're tall.  It's a fun car to drive, handles amazing, but it's simply not on the same level as a lambo.  That being said, lambo's are wild compared to some of the other supercars so unless you're experienced driving something with that much power, you could end up in a bad place.  I love the look of a lambo but they really are very impractical cars, the Aventador for example, looks amazing but is so wide it's a huge pain in the ass everywhere but on a track/open road.

I need an SUV for family/snow. I want a fun sports car and I am learning towards the Lotus cuz it looks almost as fun, has a more reasonable price point (esp cuz i won't even be living in that country) and it seems to be more reliable.

The escalade was kind of a joke as its over kill for driving in the snow. The following place will accept BTC, both of these seems to be fine for winter driving.

I might end up with one of them.

I would go with the Land Rover.

It sounds like you're looking for the best bang for your buck.  Have you considered the Nissan GT-R?  A new one will be at the lower end of your price range and it will come with supercar performance and be more practical than the Lotus. Whatever you decide, congrats Smiley
579  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there anyone else that finds all the micro BTC terms confusing? on: June 08, 2013, 06:08:23 PM
While I agree with you, I also think coming up with terms for the lower orders of magnitude could have a dramatic psychological effect in terms of increasing the userbase - especially over the next 2-4 years.  To a brand new user, hearing they would have to spend $118 for a single BTC is slightly intimidating considering it's risk assessment.  They would likely feel differently if they could drop $10 and get what they (initially) perceive as a "few" coins.

This is also considering sentiment from a US perspective, where the term "coins" is used for values <$1.

Are there any experiments that show the effects of using these terms on people?

When a stock splits, it's typically a positive move on share price despite the fact that you aren't receiving a higher ownership %.  It's purely psychological but it happens all the time.

If you want to make a river, pour water on the mountain top.

This is only one of many reasons I choose Ripple as a better world currency alternative.  There are vastly more XRP's.  So many in fact, it could be literally hundreds of year, if ever, that you would need to calculate beyond the 3rd decimal.  It's nearly impossible to do this with Bitcoin because there are only 11 million of them and at most 21 million.  And that doesn't account for how many have been or will be lost forever.  I know what you'll say, "Bitcoin can be broken down to 8 decimal places."  What the vast majority of people say is, "Who cares, what a pain in the arse to deal with .00239484 of something."  And I agree.

It's very easy to re-program software to move the decimal and denominate in mBTC or any other.  Humans don't do well with small fractions but computers have no problem with it.  This is one of the easiest things to fix.
