561  Economy / Services / Re: Bounty Cleanup & Alt Detection Service on: January 20, 2024, 07:55:37 AM
As an example of the service I want to provide, this is the type of campaign that could benefit greatly from it:

[Bounty] TonTogether | 🚀 10M Tokens 🚀 100M Tokens on TonUP Launchpool

Among the signature campaign rules:

 - 1 Bitcointalk account per person
 - Do not use AI tools like Chat GPT

The first participant on the spreadsheet, romero121, has already been linked to 2 other participants, Vaskiy & KennyR.

3 Accounts Connected: (Note: Banned shown in red / Inactive in Blue / Active profile (in ordinary link colour))

romero121, Vaskiy, KennyR.

Proof-1: BTC
romero121- bc1q55le2ru5y9e6zcv65vr8e0ck4xg5yk0m0kvfja [used same wallet]
KennyR- bc1q55le2ru5y9e6zcv65vr8e0ck4xg5yk0m0kvfja [used same wallet]

KennyR- bc1qduaumehf8dwff66ccc59mzxvyedmxu7s9gtq3t [Part of the same wallet]
Vaskiy- bc1qduaumehf8dwff66ccc59mzxvyedmxu7s9gtq3t [Part of the same wallet]
Vaskiy- bc1q9z5ygnee0qsg8um6qx8fq5sqrtyw58dh07ll6h [Part of the same wallet]

Proof-2: ETH
Everyone sent ETH/Token to the same output address
...

Here's another example of 2 alts being in this campaign: slashz9 and huu78:

Also in the campaign is a 3rd alt, cryptoknightt, although the connection is less direct (they have shared the same Binance deposit address on multiple occasions):

cryptoknightt address

Several other participants in the campaign have already been caught using ChatGPT to write their posts for them in the past, including:

cryptodude
jasonjm
itscrafty
MIner1448 (actively using AI)
luffygroove (actively using AI)

Its highly likely there are other sets of alts participating in the campaign, and other members using AI as well, but this is as far as I'm going for the purpose of this demo.

So in all, I would have saved this campaign at least 22.75 / 2 = 11.375 stakes just in the first week, based solely on the results provided above.

(my full fee would have been the other half of the 22.75 stakes)

Its true franknbeans, the bots control the prices and fees, not the other way around. They also have emotions and are capable of interpreting my text.

See look, FeeBuddy is clearly smiling in this picture:

The only bot around here that doesn't have feelings is JJG -- he can only approximate emotions through his relatively crude algorithms, but they are unconvincing & don't pass the Turing test.

Lions Bucs may be the best game in terms of having no clue who may win.

This will be a fun one to watch, for sure. If Mayfield continues the trajectory he's on, they have a good chance of winning. I shoulda paid more attention to the trajectory that Jalen Hurts was on before making my last bet, LOL. Kind of an opposite direction.

As for the other games, I agree with you -- I don't see the Texans letting the Ravens beat them by more than 9 points, and I don't see the Packers letting the 49ers beat them by more than 9 points. Not putting my money where my mouth is, but all 4 games will be fun to watch, regardless.

565  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: January 19, 2024, 08:14:19 AM
It's good for bitcointalkers who want to go earn extra money. But as long as bitcoin.org, twitter, publications, Nostr and all those other platforms are ignoring Altcoinstalks links, then traffic will not grow, and hence signature payment sthere will not grow.

Prior to the last couple weeks, the only times I had ever visited that forum was to look for clues about alt accounts. There's literally no reason for any guest visitors to go there. If I wanted to scroll through shitposts about altcoins, I'd just hop on over to Altcoin Discussion, leaving the forum is not required.
566  Economy / Reputation / Re: AI Spam Report Reference Thread on: January 19, 2024, 07:26:42 AM
That was to be expected. Chatbot-spam gets harder and harder to detect (and prove), and if Mods don't ban them on the spot for plagiarism, there is no limit to the amount of verbal diarrhea they can create.

OK well I'm in favor of banning on the spot, if they already have at least 3 posts deleted as AI spam yet continue to engage in AI spamming.

And yes, there are even more accounts which tweak the text a bit in order to make it appear they aren't using ChatGPT. They accomplish this by doing stuff like adding, "I believe" at the start, adding/deleting punctuation, or adding bits of text here and there that are out of character for ChatGPT.

Case in point. By itself, this post comes back as 0.3% Fake according to Sapling.ai (though 100% AI according to Hivemoderation):

It's clear that saving money has become harder for many especially with rising living costs and stagnant wages. People are working more but struggling to set aside any savings. There's a need for changes whether it's better job opportunities, affordable housing or other policies that can make things easier for everyone. It's a complex issue but acknowledging the problem is a step toward finding solutions right?

When a comma is added in the first sentence, and "right?" is removed in the last sentence, the result changes dramatically, to 100% Fake:

It's a complex issue but acknowledging the problem is a step toward finding solutions. right?

So when does a shitpost become spam territory, and when does spam become plagiarism? This is what we (well, more the mods) will need to establish going forward, and not even ChatGPT can help us answer this question.

More AI shitposts by Ravichnadra (he hasn't posted in almost 2 days, maybe this will be the end of him):

It seems like there may have been a significant incident during an Alaska Airlines flight, and the compensation offered is being considered inadequate by some passengers.

If passengers feel that the compensation offered does not adequately address the severity of the situation, they may choose to explore legal options. It's not uncommon for individuals to seek legal advice and pursue lawsuits against airlines in cases of extreme distress, inconvenience, or potential harm during a flight.

The issue of pay discrimination between white-collar and blue-collar jobs raises important questions about fairness and societal values. While white-collar jobs may involve mental strain, it's crucial to acknowledge the physical demands and hard work associated with many blue-collar or skilled labor positions. Market correction for skilled labor is a valid consideration, as it reflects the intrinsic value of their contributions to society.

The argument that some jobs are mentally draining is valid, but it's equally essential to recognize the indispensable role of those in "menial" jobs. Without workers in various roles like waiters, delivery workers, cab drivers, carpenters, and construction workers, society would face significant challenges. These individuals are the backbone of many essential services, and their contributions should be duly respected and compensated.

It's wonderful to hear about the valuable lessons you've learned from playing football. Football is not just a sport; it's a school of life for many. Here are some additional lessons that football often teaches:

Discipline: Regular training schedules, adherence to team rules, and commitment to improvement instill discipline in players.

Resilience: Dealing with losses, injuries, and setbacks on the field helps build resilience and the ability to bounce back from challenges in life.

Time Management: Balancing practice sessions, matches, and personal life requires effective time management skills, which can be applicable beyond the football field.

Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial on the field, fostering teamwork and understanding. This skill can translate into improved communication in personal and professional relationships.

Leadership: Captaining a team or taking on leadership roles within a team helps develop leadership qualities that extend beyond the football pitch.

Adaptability: Football is dynamic, and situations can change rapidly. Learning to adapt to different playing styles, strategies, and unexpected situations helps in navigating the unpredictability of life.

Goal Setting: Setting personal and team goals in football translates into goal-setting skills in other aspects of life, providing a sense of purpose and direction.

Camaraderie: The bond formed with teammates creates a sense of community and fosters strong interpersonal relationships, teaching the importance of working harmoniously with others.

Work Ethic: Success in football often requires hard work and dedication. This work ethic can be carried over into other areas of life, contributing to personal and professional success.

Fair Play and Integrity: Upholding the principles of fair play, honesty, and integrity on the field teaches the importance of moral values, which are essential in various life situations.

It's clear that the lessons learned from football extend far beyond the pitch, shaping individuals into well-rounded, disciplined, and resilient human beings.

Starting to take a look at the games for this weekend to place my bets, and man, only 8 teams left is depressing.  I mean every season tends to go really fast, but especially this one for some reason.

The more fun it is, the faster it goes...

I've found the only way to slow time is by enduring pain  Cheesy

Ravens > Texans -9.5
Niners > Packers -9.5
Lions > Bucs -6.5
Chiefs> Bills +2.5

The only one of these I really feel confident about is Chiefs. I think they will win it outright. Nobody beats that Reid/Mahomes magic in the post season (except for Belichick/Brady back then). Feels like the other contests will be closer, especially the Lions/Bucs game, but that's just my gut feeling.

My solitary bet for this weekend:

569  Other / Meta / Re: Have the rules of the DT system and Forum rules amended ? ? theymos on: January 19, 2024, 01:05:10 AM
However, I witnessed the current trust system long enough to see how it isn't working as intended.

Well, see, this is your opinion. Its not necessarily shared by everyone else. Of course it does not work as intended 100% of the time - rarely does anything - but I think it is largely self-correcting and for the most part manages to keep out bad actors (again, not with 100% success). I haven't actually seen any serious complaints that could be resolved by an actionable solution, other than theymos intervening to resolve somebody's individual problem, which he's not going to do.

Reading various comments and posts from Theymos, it's evident to me that he expected the majority of members to participate in the voting so that the default trust list would be a good representation of what the majority of members would agree on. Obviously, this isn't the case now because only a small minority of "active" members participate in the voting.

That's not necessarily true. What statistics are you using to back this up?

But until then, everybody's best weapon to fight abuse is to get involved in the trust system and, obviously, grow some balls.

This part I agree with 100%.

What's even worse is that the vast majority of DT members prefer to walk in the shadows and not exercise their votes to exclude bad actors because they fear retaliation.

I agree with this!!  So many people have responded to me that while they do not trust certain people (like OgNasty), they cannot leave him negative feedback because he is protected.  :/

BTW I didn't actually say that Vod, that's a mikeywith quote.
570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NFL Playoffs & Super Bowl Prediction Thread on: January 19, 2024, 12:11:56 AM
For the Bucs vs. Lions match, i'm liking the Lions to win only because they've been tested against different teams, and they already beat the Bucs in the regular season.

My only counter to this is that Baker Mayfield has been on a meteoric rise -- I like the trajectory of his season. But sure enough, the line is currently -6.5 Lions. For me its still a hard game to call. Gonna put some thought into it & come back with my definitive playoff picks tomorrow.

Here's what teams I like for outright wins:

Ravens
49ers
Chiefs (the only upset at +2.5 -- they have a tremendous amount of post-season experience)
571  Other / Meta / Re: Have the rules of the DT system and Forum rules amended ? ? theymos on: January 18, 2024, 02:34:42 AM
I disagree, however, that the system is working as intended. It's evident that he expected too much from the community -- a system where the majority of members would participate, and thus the end result of the DT status would reflect what the majority of people want.

Anyone (aside from those too new to qualify) can participate in the system. The majority of people who care about DT are indeed participating. Those that don't care, don't participate. There will always be people who don't vote and then complain about the outcome of an election, and that has never made sense.

However, after all these years, it seems like only 1% of the forum members participated in the system.

Only 1% of forum members are active on a monthly basis (probably much less TBH).

This resulted in a small minority of people obtaining the DT status, turning it into more of a privilege than a responsibility. It's the "cool guys club." Eventually, some people started abusing it, and because only that small minority of people engage in the voting, it became close to impossible to stop anyone from abusing the system. Hence, we have all these complaints. Of course, I wouldn't say it's completely useless, the trust system itself is a great tool. I just think the DT list shouldn't be there, and everyone must create their own list.

For most of your time on the forum, you've only known the new system. You don't have a sufficient frame of reference to understand that things are actually much better now than they used to be.

Regardless, the "new" trust system didn't really start to come into its own until after Lauda was finally voted off DT. After that happened, it became apparent more than ever that the new trust system was "working" and better than the old. But if you don't participate in it, your complaints won't be taken seriously.

Obviously, Theymos doesn't think that the current level of abuse is significant enough for him to change the rules. But eventually, as more people start complaining about the unjust use of the trust system, he will likely come up with a different plan, or at least, that's what he usually does, fix things.

But they won't, because things aren't actually that bad, and nobody will offer a better solution that the majority can agree upon.

It is only because the current system indeed works that borovichok (OP) got his negative trust removed and is once again freely spamming shitposts contributing to the forum.

How come they don't use BSV, since it can support more transactions? Roll Eyes

That's a fair question. Its because nobody cares about BSV. There is far more prestige in minting your shit token on the Bitcoin blockchain.

As he did with gmaxwell, Calvin Ayre personally tried to ruin my life, so I'm no fan of him, or BSV (never have been), but I have yet to see any evidence of him being involved in BRC-20.

There's some truth to the idea that BSV devs are behind the development of Ordinals infrastructure, but that is because they realized BSV is a sinking ship and went to go work on Bitcoin stuff instead. They are motivated purely by financial reasons.

Calvin doesn't have infinitely deep pockets. Rumor has it the money men that funded the whole Faketoshi charade are extremely pissed that Craig hasn't been able to produce any results. The whole scam is falling apart at an increasingly faster rate.

BSV is now worth 9% what it was compared to BTC 5 years ago. Meaning, if you would have traded BTC for BSV 5 years ago, you'd be down 91%. The game is all but over, which is why BSV devs are jumping ship.

Couple of interesting upsets over the weekend on the NFC side:

 - Philadelphia is out and Tampa Bay is in.
 - Dallas is out and Green Bay is in.

So this is what we have going on for next weekend:

NFC Divisional Playoffs

AFC Divisional Playoffs

Gonna try to call all 4 winners, just straight up moneyline. Immediately I like the 49ers, Chiefs, and Ravens. Gonna have to really think about it when it comes to the Buccaneers vs. Lions matchup.

Everyone is leaving the Champs out to dry huh?  In a lot of different forums I see nobody giving them a chance.  They have a tough road but they still have magic mahones and he has 2 good legs this year.  I will never count that dude out and in a long shot I have them winning the chip again.

They certainly were in good form the other day, looking like Super Bowl contenders. They also, of course, have more recent playoff experience than any other team currently in contention. I like their chances.

Yes, OG did delete the messages where he laughed about punching out LoyceV's teeth and selling them here on the forum.
Why is he not banned for breaking forum rules?

Because in this Bitcointalk fan fiction meetup, LoyceV gave Og some prized teeth from his shark tooth collection... Its a little-known hobby of LoyceV's. He has shark teeth from 8 different species of sharks so far, including the long-extinct megalodon. A 6-inch megalodon tooth, such as the one given to Og, can fetch over $1,000 easy. Og is hoping to auction it for BTC on the forum and give the proceeds to a charity named The Fund for Writers and Artists Displaced by AI.

No but seriously Vod, if there was a lawsuit or anything, you wouldn't be talking about it. You'd be ruining your chances of victory by doing so. If you were cooperating with law enforcement, they would have likely told you not to talk about that either.

You guys should just e-hug it out in the metaverse and be friends.

576  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: January 16, 2024, 06:05:31 PM
The purpose of this thread is to warn of what may happen if more restrictions on signatures are imposed, not simply to rejoice in looking at a still photo of what this forum looks like today.
I doubt that theymos is not aware of the fact that bitcointalk owes vast majority of its current traffic to signature campaigns so I don't thnk that he will easily impose any further signature campaign restrictions. Mixer ban coulnd't be an easy one either and imho it was obvious that it was just a matter of time.

The thing is, the forum doesn't need traffic to survive. He's stated a few times over the years that the forum is doing quite well financially & doesn't need to raise money for anything. He's also stated that he thinks its cool that people can earn money from posting. I'd be very surprised if he announces any more kinds of signature bans.

And that's one thing that can't change, right? Motorola and Nokia also had a great reputation and prestige.

Bitcointalk isn't a company. It's not operated for the sake of turning a profit and doesn't require revenue to continue existing; at least not for decades, or maybe even longer.

The forum will retain relevance by acting as a repository for satoshi's posts. That's all it has to keep doing. It will be relevant for as long as bitcoin is relevant.

It posts once every 6 hours with the current fee estimates. I keep track of new posts by visiting "Show unread replies..", so you know, reply once in the topic and you'll always see it when it updates. Or of course add it to your Watchlist if you want (does anyone actually use that?).

Ever wondered if cryptocurrency is the unsung hero in the realm of cybersecurity? It's like the quiet friend who always has your back. Cryptocurrencies, with their decentralized nature, seem to be throwing a subtle shade at the vulnerabilities of traditional financial systems. No big banks holding all the keys here! Just the distributed ledger silently doing its thing. It's like having a covert agent safeguarding your transactions.

In a world where data breaches are as common as morning coffee, cryptocurrencies stand tall, offering a layer of anonymity and security. It's not just about making transactions; it's about doing it securely, like your own financial superhero. So, next time you send some crypto flying across the blockchain, give a nod to the unsung defender in the cybersecurity arena. It might just be the coolest thing since sliced bread, but way more secure. What's your take on this silent cybersecurity crusader?

Your analogy of cryptocurrency being the “silent friend” or “superhero” of cybersecurity is interesting. Indeed, the decentralized nature of blockchain and cryptocurrencies can provide an additional layer of security and anonymity in financial transactions.
Cryptocurrencies give users greater control over their finances, and the absence of centralized entities such as banks reduces the likelihood of attacks and data leaks. Blockchain technology also ensures that data is stored securely and immutably.

(results shown above)

Frankly, I think if the first post in a thread is AI-generated, the topic should absolutely be wiped. It will make everyone think twice about responding in threads started by bots.
