It has always been risky, but worth it for those who wait out price drops. Remember when it hit 1000 USD. wow.

If they do not invest more than what they can afford to lose.  Tongue
I definitely wouldn't bet my life savings on Bitcoin.

Why is everyone wishing happy halving day? What good will halving bring to bitcoin? I dont think it will either be good or bad and there is no point in celebration it

It is just a milestone in Bitcoin's life.
People do celebrate New Year's Day, although there is no rational reason to do so.  Smiley

Bitcoins: Not for the faint-hearted

http://www.business-standard.com/article/markets/bitcoins-not-for-the-faint-hearted-116071100004_1.html

Bitcoin has emerged as an alternative asset class, delivering high returns in the past few years but not without equally high risks. A year before, the crypto-currency was quoting at $260 a unit. In the past six weeks, the price has risen to $640, following the British vote to exit (Brexit) the European Union and a depreciating Chinese currency. In India, each bitcoin is worth Rs 44,000-45,000. A crypto-currency is a medium of exchange that uses cryptography to manage the creation of new units, as well as to secure transactions.

Considering the returns, there are risk takers in India who are buying bitcoins. Though it is not the only crypto-currency, it has more acceptance and popularity. Raja Raman, director (technology) at Sapient Global Markets, says: “In troubled times, most investors rush towards safe assets. Brexit has been one such recent event that brings back memories of the Lehman crisis. The most obvious solution is gold. Over the past few years, bitcoin has emerged as the most commonly used crypto-currency. By far, it has the largest market capitalisation among all such currencies.”

Check BitX's pay rate. It is different from what is mentioned in this table.
I am not sure when exactly it was changed.

Bitcoin 'miners' face shortage due to reduced supply

Marco Streng is a miner, though he does not carry a pick around his base in south-western Iceland. Instead, he keeps tens of thousands of computers running 24 hours a day in fierce competition with others across the globe to earn bitcoins.

In the world of the web-based digital currency, it is not central banks that add new money to the system, but rather computers like Streng's which are awarded fresh bitcoins in return for processing blocks of the latest bitcoin transactions.

Scotland is almost about to lose this match as it is 7 wickets down now and it need 101 runs in 90 balls, I don't think it will give tough time to Afghanistan and can make comeback to this match because run rate is increasing after every ball, after 3 more wickets to go than Afghanistan will be into leading position.
Yup excellent come back from Afghanistan they picks 4 back to back wickets and now Scotland in deep trouble. They need 79 runs in 60 balls but they only two wickets in hand. So I think this is not possible from Scotland batsman. So now there is very less chance to win this match for Scotland. Let's see what happen.
Afghanistan won the match by 78 runs (D/L method). After very poor batting well bowled by Afghanistan and them deserve this victory. In one time I thought Scotland would win this match, but they lost their last 6 wickets for just 40 runs. So finally Afghanistan take the lead in this series by 1 - 0.

It is always tough for the team batting second to win under D/L method.
Scotland were set a steep target (compared to what Afghanistan scored) and they had to go for their shots.

Why banks want Blockchain

http://tech.firstpost.com/biztech/why-banks-want-blockchain-323952.html

Blockchain technology has been dubbed as the most important invention since the internet itself in financial technology circles. It has the potential to completely redefine the way transactions take place. According to Let’s Talk Payments, $ 180 million was invested in Blockchain technology globally in 2015. Banks are one of the leading investors in the technology and their investment is said to reach  $400 million by 2019 from $ 75 million in 2015. R3, a fintech company has brought together 42 leading banks from around the world to form a consortium in order to develop a framework for applying Blockchain technology. But why are banks so enthusiastic about a technology that was developed to form the basis of Bitcoins, a cryptocurrency that is often used to keep money away from such institutions as banks and governments?

Here's why European Commission wants stricter rules for Bitcoin and other virtual currencies

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tech/tech-news/Heres-why-European-Commission-wants-stricter-rules-for-Bitcoin-and-other-virtual-currencies/articleshow/53077836.cms

The European Commission proposed on Tuesday stricter rules on the use of virtual currencies and prepaid cards in a bid to reduce anonymous payments and curb the financing of terrorism.

Virtual currency exchange platforms will have to increase checks on the identities of people exchanging virtual currencies, such as Bitcoin, for real currencies and report suspicious transactions.

New Partnership Aims to Clamp Down on Use of Bitcoin for Child Porn

http://gadgets.ndtv.com/internet/news/new-partnership-aims-to-clamp-down-on-use-of-bitcoin-for-child-porn-857685

London-based Bitcoin startup Elliptic and the Internet Watch Foundation, a charity that monitors online child sex abuse, will cooperate to clamp down on the use of Bitcoin in online child pornography, Elliptic said on Wednesday.

Bitcoin is a web-based digital currency that relies on complex cryptographic algorithms to move money around quickly and anonymously with no need for a central authority to process transactions. That has made it attractive to a variety of users, including those who want to get around capital controls and those who support a currency that is free from government control for ideological reasons. But it has also attracted drug dealers, arms dealers, and the buyers and sellers of online child pornography.

How do we pay taxes on BTC and how do we show it in our accounts?

You should pay taxes in INR, the same way you will pay taxes normally.
Depending on how you earned/made profits on bitcoin, you should classify it accordingly (other income/ capital gains)
Thank You! but how do I show sending and receiving of bitcoin for capital gain?

You should just report your capital gains in your income tax filings.
You don't have to show sending and receiving, unless specifically asked during scrutiny.
For that, I think your wallet transactions should be sufficient.

How blockchains will change the way we do business

http://www.livemint.com/Industry/8VaT9IXORJJCUziHcbya3L/How-blockchains-will-change-the-way-we-do-business.html

Blockchains first gained attention as a platform for cryptocurrencies like Bitocoin. Since then, non-currency assets on the blockchain have grown 1,600% to reach $1.6 billion between 2013 and 2016, according to a new report by IBM Institute for Business Value that was released this month. The report suggests that blockchains will evolve over time and are potentially self-sustaining because of their distributed nature.

Businesses that are born on a blockchain, according to the report, will surely assume new forms. The most novel may be the capacity for an organization to act autonomously. As blockchain-based transactions become more sophisticated, the business network as a whole will achieve greater levels of autonomy, reducing the need for human governance and ultimately evolving into self-governing, cognitive business networks, the IBM report says. These autonomous organizations, effectively, will stretch our definition of what it means to be a dynamic enterprise.

How China took center stage in bitcoin's civil war

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/business/how-china-took-center-stage-in-bitcoins-civil-war/articleshow/53019987.cms

A delegation of American executives flew to Beijing in April for a secret meeting just blocks from Tiananmen Square. They had come to court the new kingmakers in one of the strangest experiments in money the world has seen: the virtual currency known as bitcoin.

Against long odds, and despite an abstruse structure, in which supercomputers "mine" the currency via mathematical formulas, bitcoin has become a multibillion-dollar industry. It has attracted major investments from Silicon Valley and a significant following on Wall Street.

Former US Secret Service Agent Suspected in Additional Bitcoin Thefts

http://gadgets.ndtv.com/internet/news/former-us-secret-service-agent-suspected-in-additional-bitcoin-thefts-855878

A Secret Service agent who stole money seized by the government in the investigation of underground drug bazaar Silk Road is now suspected of stealing money in at least two other cases, according to court filings unsealed on Thursday.

In the larger of those cases, he is thought to have been behind the theft of about $700,000 (roughly Rs. 4.7 crores) worth of Bitcoin from a Secret Service account three months after the agency was urged to block his access, the documents say.

Former agent Shaun Bridges pleaded guilty last year and was sentenced in December to nearly six years in prison for stealing more than $800,000 (roughly Rs. 5.4 crores) of the crypto currency Bitcoin during the Silk Road investigation.
