561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys, what's the best Bitcoin wallet for PC these days? on: November 28, 2023, 08:54:19 PM
A lot of us on here likely use Electrum as our go-to desktop wallet.  And, it does the job pretty well for bitcoin.  but maybe you're after some other features Electrum doesn't have, like being able to hold altcoins too. and  If that's you, then Electrum just wont cut it anymore and you gotta scout out another option instead.

The subject of the thread actually shows that the OP is only interested in bitcoin only wallet as he stated if there but if he is actually considering the Altcoins then there is the unstoppable wallet I think.

If you are not willing to change the OS you use to something safer like Linux, and it seems you do not as you specified that you wanted a wallet that works with Windows, then you need to get a hardware wallet, hardware wallets are ideal for someone like you that is using an insecure OS like Windows but still want to secure their coins to the best of their abilities, with Ledger and Trezor being the two most popular options in the market of hardware wallets.

Yes the windows is actually not a great OS for bitcoin wallets but even with Linux I don’t think the OP is secure as long as it is an online wallet. For maximum security the hardware should be the best option for OP because even airgap wallet set up needs it knowledge and if the OP isn’t that knowledgeable in that regards, the set up might have some flaws.

Alejandro Garnacho was in the spotlight this week for his spectacular goal, but it was the only goal he has scored this season in the Premier League in 11 appearances. I would never compare Alejandro Garnacho with Ronaldo, they will never be the same. Alejandro Garnacho could develop more rapidly if he was trained by other coaches such as Arteta, Pep Guadiola, Klopp, Xavi and Ancelotti, but of course he had to leave Manchester United.

I see the potential of this player at the age of 19 years. He should get more opportunities to improve his game, but perhaps Ten Hag will also fail to make it better this season as Garnacho is not his first choice. To be honest, I would like to see him in La Liga with Barcelona or Atletico Madrid, but I think Manchester United will keep him.

Firstly those tagging Ale Garnacho to Ronaldo are not in any way comparing them both but just having reminiscing of how Ronaldo legendary career begin which is similar to Garnacho. Yes the boy has just one goal this season which was as a result of Manchester United woeful start to the season, Ronaldo had almost similar numbers in his first three seasons at the club so the boy shouldn’t worry much about the goals now because they will come ones he improves his game.

About the boy not suitable for Manchester United because he wouldn’t develop there is something I don’t agree with even if the club is in crisis the thing he needs his the manager confidence. Ten Hag looks underrated because of the problem he is facing at United, the same problem all the coaches you mentioned faced in their first two to three season in a new league. You should recall that Ten Hag has actually developed world class players too. The likes of De Jong, De Ligt were made known by him and lost more in his Ajax days.

Taking about moving to a new club both Barcelona and Athletico Madrid should be a red zone for Garnacho because I don’t think we have seen promising talents too getting far after bursting into the season from both clubs. Barcelona had Demeble, Ansu Fati, Rugi Pugi and they all didn’t stay on top for long. As for Atletico Madrid we all know how Simeone negative football almost ruined Felix career. So now where is perfect as you all thought.
563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: November 27, 2023, 09:16:50 PM
Manchester United may have played well against Everton, but Everton don't play in the Champions League. I think the away game against Galatasaray will be much harder. Galatasaray are also playing well now.

The game against Galatasaray will be difficult for Manchester United because the atmosphere will not be favourable, they will be under pressure to win as a lose will mean there exit from the Champions League against Everton there was no pressure at all to win and that was why the game look comfortable. Galatasaray also have been in excellent form the season and would like to also take the full advantage of playing home and moving closer towards qualification.

The fact that all teams have the possibility of qualify out of the group makes the group more exciting. The line up of all 4 teams are very strong. It's really hard to predict, anyone could be eliminated. I think it will be clear who will be eliminated as a result of tomorrow's matches. Tomorrow will be a very enjoyable night.

Seriously the group has lived up to its expectations of been the group of death. This group and group A are the most complicated group in this year’s edition. For group H clubs one thing I notice is that almost all of them are strong at home and will likely take maximum points at home. I don’t believe the group qualification will be settle this game week, it will go down to the wire
564  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee, on: November 27, 2023, 09:02:50 PM
You're right. I've experienced this first hand and it still hurts me till date. Mine was $20 at a time when I felt I had set it at something around $2. I can't be too sure if it was the app that reverted it to that high or me who didn't crosscheck properly. Yes, I used a closed wallet and there wasn't an option of RBF. So, I couldn't do anything once I noticed my error immediately I had triggered the transaction. It's crazy how we get to find out our mistake once we press the trigger. I just had to quietly rue my loss. Anyway, I hope the over 80btc transaction fee was also done in error and hopefully the antpool that processed it will be able to return the excess to the originating wallet.

The sad part is the even if you make such mistake and you immediately notice it, you can’t be able to revert the decision because even the RBF option only allow one to increase the fee I don’t think decreasing the fee will actually work. Probably the the wallet wouldn’t allow it to progress since the RBF is basically just replacing that transaction with a new one with higher fee. So one needs to be careful setting this fees

Also with the information there by hosseinimr93 which indicates that the wallet might be hacked I would suggest Antpool to keep the excess than handing it over to the scammer
565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin transaction time reduce in future? on: November 27, 2023, 08:01:14 PM

Practically, it makes no difference how much you set as your transaction fee for a transaction; it must wait at least 10 minutes before being confirmed and added to the blockchain. Since it is expected that the number of bitcoin users will increase significantly in the future, I do not believe or expect that the bitcoin transaction time will be reduced. The time will vary depending on the transaction fees you use, the number of transactions, and the transaction fees set for them. Transactions could be approved in less or more time by that point in time.

Yes 10 minutes is the default but it can be less than that, as at the time of this post when I check the Memepool from block 818745 to 818742 had an average of 8 minutes to get a block confirmed. Also the number of transactions in the pool will determine how fast you get your transaction confirmed as you said but once you set a fee that is high then it will wouldn’t take much block to get your transaction confirmed.

Its actually even less right now since the difficulty is going up, so average transaction time is maybe 9 minutes or so.

I think if there is increase in difficulty then the transaction is suppose to actually get confirmed within that 10 minutes or higher than that time except if the hash rate increases which will effect another difficulty adjustment after 2016 blocks
566  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: November 26, 2023, 10:02:03 PM
In terms of player quality, it is true that you say Bayern Munich is superior to Bayer Leverkusen. But we can't just look at it from that aspect, the chemistry and cohesiveness of each player in various lines, this is what makes their club appear strong and strong. Many clubs or teams outside the Bundesliga do not have the quality of other top clubs, but they show the identity of their club, for example Girona (Spanish league). Yes, in terms of percentage, Bayern Munich is more favored to win the league.

Till I don’t know Bayern Munich will always be the favorite to win the league because they are always class ahead of other teams, people say it is because of the league that play but I will say it is not all true because they still go out to the European competitions and also get selected as the contenders. Although I don’t like the dominance they have over other clubs in the league and I hope they don’t win it this year. I am supporting anyone aside then but the closest to them to win this league will be Leverkusen because they have the players and also the manger too who has been excellent and I hope they just go out and win it. Why I don’t fancy other clubs like Dortmund is because of their lack of consistency and they showed that before the international break.
567  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 26, 2023, 09:47:03 PM
You're right. It is very disappointing that Tottenham got a defeat again. Yes, they got 3 defeats in a row. It is actually quite surprising, Tottenham ever leads the EPL standings but they seems like a mediocre team now. Not sure what the main problem, but it seems they have too many injured players. With too many unavailable players, Tottenham gets difficulty to prepare the best lineup. In the last 3 matches, they played without some key players.

Regarding the match against Aston Villa, Tottenham already tried to do their best. They were dominating the match, they made more shot attempts and they won the ball possessions around 62%. It means that Tottenham played better, but they couldn't play effectively, they missed too many goal opportunities.

Tottenham actually are the first team to lose three games in a row after taking the lead in all of them. Just a month  ago they were considered tittle contenders today after this defeat they find themselves outside the top four which to many is disappointing. Personally I don’t expect much from this side because I have always say that they  are a team that do not have strong back up on the bench and they have just got exposed and every team will like to exploit that. Seriously the two players that are absent Van De ven and Madison are just an integral part of the team the two were the missing link before they join the club and now with injury I don’t see Tottenham surviving much from this. The thing I love this senerio because it will test the tactical twerk of Ange. I want to see how he will make this injury crisis his team is facing and come out of it.

As for Aston Villa seriously they have been excellent under this Unai Emery, first is his signings they have acquired quality players that could play for the top top the teams in Europe, example is Pau Torres, and Diaby. They play very fast counter attacking football and that has been causing problems for teams. Today Tottenham dominated the game but still they managed to carve out a win, it is still early to make any predictions but I think they could still play European competitions next season
568  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why rush, instead of taking your time to learn about the forum ? on: November 26, 2023, 03:40:20 PM
To any newbie who might be reading, stay positive and use the search button regularly and find answers to what you wish to learn. The forum have lasted over a decade and more so almost everything you which to talk about has been talk about so to avoid things like plagiarism search if it has been treated and grow gradually.

The first advice should be treat it as free place where you need to learn and maybe later help others on some difficulties. Just has you said almost everything has been treated before but still you will see some threads still getting merits because of the efforts newbies put out to that thread. The thing that gets most newbie either finding it hard to rank up or not later got caught for plagiarism is by teaching what they don’t know.

Ranking up doesn’t mean you need to create threads everyday, your posts can get you the merits you need ti rank once you learn properly first.
569  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee, on: November 26, 2023, 02:02:17 PM
It could be money laundering, though I doubt that because on-chain transactions are all public. There are no names attached to Bitcoin addresses, but you can always follow the flow of coins.

If this was deliberate then this obfuscates the history of the coins that turned into transaction fee. Doesn't really sound reasonable to me, too.

To me this looks more like a mistake of someone acting in a rush for whatever reasons because the transaction lacks a change output. And if you either don't understand that transaction inputs are always consumed completely and you don't want to send all of your inputs (minus a reasonable transaction fee) to your output(s), then you always need a change output that returns the excess of your inputs back into your wallet.

This transaction was also the final one of a small chain of CPFP transactions where the two ancestors had a bit too low transaction fee rate (64 and 119 sat/vB where the lowest fee rate of transactions in block 818087 appears to be 129 sat/vB; previous block 818086 had a fee span starting at 112 sat/vB, so 64 sat/vB is clearly way too low to start with if you want a timely confirmation). Someone got nervous or lost his mind while block 818087 took roughly 30 minutes to be mined.

Following transactions of the 55.76998378BTC combine some small amounts and peel of a bunch of 6BTC outputs which are further involved in some transactions, all with mostly optimal transaction fees.

firstly i have to agree with you that money laundering will be absurd because with this high fee it will raise suspicion that will require looking into any associated addresses if it was it the sender will have maybe used even a mixer/tumbler.

now concerning that fee i am suprise now because the 83 bitcoin as fee wasn't the first transaction but the new transaction, the first one actually had a fee of 70 bitcoin which i showed in the thread which was why many people thought it wasn't a mistake. at first the replaced transaction id was displaying on the block explorer but now it is not showing probably because every node has dropped it.
570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 25, 2023, 06:21:48 PM
This is not the first time Guardiola has not made a substitution in a match, he has done it often. Maybe the reason Gurdiola didn't make a substitution against Liverpool was because he didn't have many choices of main players on the bench. Moreover, many players have just returned from defending the National Team. Maybe Gurdiola wants to maintain the fitness of the other players, especially since Man City's next match will be against Leipzig in the Champions League. However, I think this result is very fair for both teams even though it seems City is a little disappointed because they couldn't take advantage of the opportunity to play at home.

Gurdiola is Fond this days of not making substitutions during big matches like this. I recall the game against Real Madrid last season when he played the both legs without making substitutions and when asked he said it was his substitutions the previous Seasons that cost him the match. Against Chelsea he made the mistake of substituting Doku and starting Gvardiol and that cost him, maybe that’s why he took corrective measures in this match not to substitute any player
571  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee, on: November 25, 2023, 06:09:00 PM
The transaction was first broadcasted with a fee of 70 bitcoins and then later was replaced with that of 83 bitcoin as fees.
If this was the case, I don’t think it was a mistake. It had RBF enabled and the sender later increased the price again which makes it more likely like a FUD some people have assumed it to be. Also, could be in haste to get the bitcoin moved out from the wallet which may likely not be for the seller, could be; a case of theft, fraud or related activity.

The RBF it self wasn’t enable with the transaction but it seems the mining node which is Antpool has the full RBF enable and that is why it was possible or probably it was done using CPFP which was shown by mempool.space.

Your point does not make any sense. Who is going to waste 3.1 Million dollars just to spread FUD? Isn't it a too expensive way to spread FUD? Can't you think that the owner probably was using a new wallet GUI and he confused between 83 sat/vB with 83 Bitcoin? I am afraid, I do not agree with your point because it does not make any sense.
Mistake will have been what we will consider but to some extent I still find it awkward, because after making mistake the sender still went ahead to bump the fee. Once you make this mistake your wallet balance will change drastically that you will know you made mistake but then why bump it again?
572  Other / Meta / Re: Delete my account on: November 24, 2023, 10:17:56 PM
You can delete your posts manually; Bitcointalk doesn't have a "delete user" feature.
Or did you mean he can edit his post? Because no user can also delete post. But a post can be edited to del and also be reported to moderators for a moderator to delete it. But the post can not be deleted/removed by the user. Or probably it is a typo and you meant can't delete.

I think you can delete your personal posts on threads after 24 hours but cannot delete a thread you create yourself and that’s what I thought he meant.

The reason why is that I asked how could I pay with my Bitcoin and which taxation would be applied.
I got a response from an user as if I was trying not to pay taxes and elude my tax responsibilities.

I’m worried someone can legally attack me and sue me because of financial misdemeanor.

If it is about privacy which shouldn’t be a thing too much to worry for you since you didn’t share some personal details about yourself, I would say apart from using TOR browser you can as well create another account as that is permissible when it has to do with privacy issues
573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: November 24, 2023, 10:06:55 PM

I would laugh like crazy if Barcelona failed to qualify for the third year in a row, but unfortunately the likelihood of this is low. But there is an equally interesting option: Porto beats Barcelona and takes first place, and Barcelona takes second place and ends up with Bayern in the 1/8 and we are seeing a classic beating confrontation  Grin

I will just say you’re big hater of Barcelona because this wishes are too much on them. Imagine having to have them finish group runner up and then the draw comes off as Barca against Bayern Munich, i would just advice Barca then to fogey about the next around after that. But nonetheless the Bayern Munich club are not close to perfection as we have them during Robben and Ribery era, so I doubt if it will be humiliating as before. But the encounter will always be thrilling.
574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 24, 2023, 09:47:07 PM
Why are Newcastle in bad shape? They have one defeat in their last five matches. Just because they're in 7th place doesn't mean they're not playing well, it means top-5 very competitive in the top 5 and you can't argue with that. I don't expect Newcastle to win, but I don't think Chelsea will win either, probably a draw

Leave the Newcastle performance aside have you look at their injury list? They basically have some key players out and that has been shown already in their UCL and EPL defeats. If you read about Trippier confrontation with a fan in their last match you will know they are a team in crises. The bad news for Newcastle is the good news for Chelsea as they continue to welcome back their injured players back to training. This will have a big boost for them towards this game. Chelsea have done well so far against the traditional top six teams they have played and with the win against Tottenham and a dramatic draw against champions Manchester City I would say they have a better chance of winning than Newcastle. But one thing that will make this prediction hard is the return from international break, Chelsea could go out and lose base on the duties that there players were on.

Yes, by the way, it’s quite a pity that such incredible players as KDB and Thomas Müller have somehow been in the shadow of other players throughout their careers. I find this extremely unfair, especially in relation to Muller, who became a world champion at the national team level, but for some reason it never occurred to anyone to extol him. A move to United would be a disaster, I hope that next season both Muller and KDB will play in Saudi Arabia.

The lists of players that should have actually won a personal silverwares during this Messi-Ronaldo era is so long that we can list them just yet and as you said both KDB and Muller are up there too. Should he not a get a contract extension at Bayern Munich I feel he should leave, because they say leave when the ovation is still high, he easily get a proposal from various clubs in the German league and since Bayern doesn’t have a direct rival like the EPL where it is almost taboo to play for the rivals he could just join any of the clubs there. Coming to Manchester United will be a bad decision not to only Muller but to Manchester United themselves, not to disrespect United don’t need to bring in more agey players again with the situation they are in currently. The continuous signing of big but old players have been there undoing since SAF left the club and that has been the reason why the club seems to be stagnant in terms of development and progress or success

You can delete your account, I think only the admin has that power. But you can simply just reset the password and put in some characters you can remember and then that’s it. Before then you can just delete your quotes but as for the threads you can’t delete them yourself except the moderators do that for you.

I don’t know the reason why you want to delete your account but once you reset the password to what you can remember no body will even know this account exists in the forum if all your posts or threads die down

Cantasy has actually shown the right way to encrypt your link into a text, but moving forward here is something I normally do when something is new to me on the forum posts. I just click on the quote option of that user that I think is post arrangement is unique and everything comes out plain. You will see exactly how he included each link and other stuffs like even creating a table
578  Other / Beginners & Help / Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee, on: November 23, 2023, 10:23:43 AM
As we all know the transaction fee continues to get high as the mempool remains congested for almost a month now due to reoccurring ORDI tokens on the bitcoin blockchain. This has left some people a bit furious and some newbies making costly mistakes of setting high transaction fees.

A transaction that was in block 818087 had actually paid a whopping sum of 83 bitcoins as the transaction fee. I would say this is a costly mistake but for someone having that huge amount of bitcoin in their possession I don’t get it. The transaction was first broadcasted with a fee of 70 bitcoins and then later was replaced with that of 83 bitcoin as fees.

My guess is the sender was probably trying to set is fee as 70 and 83Sats/vbyte and then mistakenly set out that high fee. The block was mined by Antpool, hopefully they would treat it as mistake and return the funds.

1. TXID for the 83 bitcoin fee: b5a2af5845a8d3796308ff9840e567b14cf6bb158ff26c999e6f9a1f5448f9aa

2. The replaced transaction ID: 0c35f3c8a0c38f45629940ee9ab2b1c93d408be113845a735043261ad20f3351

Advice to newbies check properly the amount your setting as fee and make sure you are looking at the right fees estimator, use wallets that allows bumping of fees in case you set a very low one
579  Other / Meta / Re: How does total time logged in count? on: November 18, 2023, 04:50:23 PM
Yes Omega is right it is when you are actively moving login and engaging or opening one thread to another is the time calculated. Having your account on a tab doesn’t mean it is login, when you leave a tab on a browse it almost as though you’re not online and when you come back you will have to reload it to see changes.

Example is when you open a thread on this forum and leave the tab and go to another one when you come back to it you will see the same thing (last post) you left but when you reload it then new replies will appear that means you’re now logged in.

Another example is when you set the time for you account to automatically logged out and you close the tab and come back after that time has surpassed you might still see the account login as you left it but once you reload it then it will log you out and require login details
580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The prospect of mixers in a congested mempool on: November 18, 2023, 03:41:06 PM
Imagine you made a deposit to a mixer and cannot bump your transaction fees for some reason. At the same time, the mixer's deposit address won't be valid after 24 hours. This will be the worst situation for anyone.
At least you will not lose your coins, but you need to wait until few days or even a weak to be confirmed. If it's too long, your transaction might dropped from the mempool and you need to rebroadcast your transaction.

I think you’re not getting what @Learn Bitcoin is saying, some mixers have deposit addresses that expires after 24 hours and if the deposit gets beyond that 24 hours before getting any confirmation wouldn’t that be an issue?

My answer is
1. Anybody using mixer should be well equipped with the knowledge of transaction fees and might be using wallets that allows bumping, this won’t be an issue.
2. Bitcoin address do not expire, so what that 24 hours means is that you can’t deposit on that address again for privacy sake just like why Hierarchy Deterministic wallet are for but when the deposit drops even after 24 hours you will be able to spend it, except maybe the mixer has it’s own different rules guiding that
