561  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Why do people Choose To snap pictures than to help another in an accident? on: April 04, 2024, 08:56:10 AM
these days.. with whats known as "ambulance chaser lawsuits" many people fear getting involved because if things go wrong they can become liable of mistreatment
Your are right franky, their are some conditions one may be going through people won't have the capacity to render help but the only thing they can do is to video it for the public to see how the incident took place. I don't see anything wrong to video when terrible things are happening I think it  is the highest people can do at point.  People are scared involving themselves into things that will lead them to problems,  so they wouldn't want to go closer.
It's true that in some cases where the accident victim is conscious and able to move some parts of their body, the right thing to do will be to call emergency numbers and take pictures, but I believe that apart from rare cases where the victim is quite conscious, people should try and save lives in an accident scene, Because the accident victims can die before the arrival of medical professionals or an ambulance. Mobile phones are very useful for quick and effective communication but people are more concerned about social media activities in their phones than physical communication and saving lives, you'd see people in need of urgent help, perhaps in accident or distressed about something, most people around will rather video or snap than help.
562  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Are recreational activities work or not on: April 04, 2024, 07:57:20 AM
Any activity that requires you to apply the definition in the OP will be classified as work meaning work = force distance/time, most things that we do requires some amount of work, the difference is the value that we attach to each work that we do. People attach so much value on their job as work because they earn income from it, not minding that they might put in more physical efforts in exercises, but because they're not paid to exercise, their mindset will tell them that it's just recreation. Housewives works very hard in the homes doing various chores, but because they're not paid salaries for these works, they're not regarded as "work".
563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Taxes on ETH staking rewards on: April 04, 2024, 06:47:44 AM
Wow. Come on, people, spare me your ChatGPT responses.

I guess I was people for help, but then again, everyone is in him or her or their (or otherwise) for help.

Thanks for nothing.

You have to accept the obvious, if your government decides to tax you for income earned then you have little choice but pay it because they always win, if you don't, then you're breaking the law and you know the implications of that. So to be on the safe side of the law, give you government what belongs to it and have your peace, so better to remit tax on eth staking reward as demanded by them. Governments especially the US have been trying to regulate every crypto transactions, so it's no surprising that they'll unjustly go way back to demand taxations.
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Money vs Bitcoin on: April 03, 2024, 06:31:06 PM
Every member that made comment in this thread agrees that fiat currency can not be a store of value, it's primary purpose is a means to make payments for transactions and it's controlled by central authorities being the governments. While Bitcoin is a store of value because like gold, it's not affected by inflation unlike fiat, it's price is determined by its supply and demand that is decentralized. Bitcoin serves dual purpose, it's used as a decentralized digital currency to make payments just like fiat, then it's edge over fiat is that it is an investment asset, if held for a long term, then it's guaranteed to give the holder massive ROI, and history has proven that it's value will keep increasing, reaching new ATH in every bull run.
565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Memecoin expansion, now set to hold a live conference.. on: April 03, 2024, 05:34:48 PM
For people like you who are optimistic about memecoins, it could sound like a game-change conference, but for someone like me who does not do shitcoins (memecoins), it's neither good nor  bad news, but I'm certainly not going to engage, not even in the discussion, not to mention listening to the conference that will be held in Lisbon.

A lot of shitcoins have done this before, and there is no good outcome to show for it. It's more like we are just rotating in the same circle of shitcoins. Every 4 years, it happens, and I believe it's just for a pump-dumb gain that these conferences are held.
We're entering the bull run so we're going to expect dev. teams of projects with low reputations to rally support by organizing conferences to gain the trust of existing and new investors, but in the end action speaks louder than words, so if they can remedy the trust ratings of memecoins the better for their projects. Like you I'm not into memecoins, because there are more scam projects in them than legit ones, I however wish the investors that have the risk absorbers to invest in all the luck, I'd rather stick with Bitcoin and top altcoins that have already proven their reputations in the crypto market.

567  Economy / Economics / Re: Lock your bank balance on: April 03, 2024, 12:56:08 PM
This is not bad but you better not lock the only amount of money that you have. If you have a goal and you’re saving towards it, I hope you know to have emergency funds too, so if something unplanned happens, you will not worry on how to access the locked funds but use the emergency fund. If you don’t plan this way, you could get stuck someday with no one to rescue you. You’d have your funds locked but can’t access it to help yourself.
I don't have any experience of locked funds in my country, maybe it exists but I've not used the service, what I know in my country is fixed deposit, that is where you keep certain amount in the bank for specific period of time, you can not access the money until after the agreed time and interest will be added to the person. This type of savings applies when someone has a project that they perhaps don't want to touch their funds until the time when they want to use it, aside from this, it's better to invest and leave some money in savings, Incase you need to spend unexpectedly, so you'll not be stranded or looking for where to borrow money.
568  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull run again, huh on: April 03, 2024, 11:06:59 AM
On this forum, I found out some information, and seriously want to ask it here.
What is a realistic expectation from the bull run, given  the last one in March 2021, Bitcoin hit  $61,000 and fell down to 31k about two couple of months later... It rose later on, amazingly though. But is this price fall normal in the bull run?? What is a helpful tip here.
Occasionally Bitcoin price dip during bull run is normal, but the goal is that it recovers quickly and keeps increasing, just like what we're experiencing now, price surged to over $72k reaching a new ATH, and it dipped to $64k then it started to rally again, and as long as the price pump is greater than the price dump, that means that we're still in the bull run. When price starts to dip lower and lower despite occasional slight pump, then bear run has started to set in, these will keep happening until another bull run when a new ATH will happen, that's how the Bitcoin seasons works.
569  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How would an arrest of Trump happen? on: April 03, 2024, 10:10:15 AM
Looks like Trump apologized for posting it.  Smiley
It's good that he has apologized, despite his status in the society, he really went too far by posting such an image that wished somebody dead, and it's none other than his president, that was very disrespectful of him. But I guess that the expensive joke, if that's what it was is to gain more attention to himself, politicians in an election year will use whatever means to trend, just to rubbish their political opponents, and I believe that president Biden, will do well to ignore him, because reacting might fuel the matter into something else like whether he's still fit to rule or not.
570  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrase backup against natural disaster areas on: April 03, 2024, 09:08:27 AM
Online should have been the best place to backup seed phrase because it won't get lost, stolen or be lost during natural or man-made disasters, but because of the criminal activities of hackers we have to forgo the convenience of online storage. Encrypting in a file online can be another method to storing seed phrase, but I personally avoid anything online that regards my private keys, we don't have any natural disasters in my country, so I feel safe to hide my seed phrase in different locations. For people who live in countries that natural disasters occurs, in addition to finding the best methods to saving their seed phrase, they can memorize their seed phrase and be reharsing it periodically, the process can be tiring but it's worth securing their hard earned cryptos.
571  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Marriage: Character or Beauty? on: April 03, 2024, 07:54:43 AM
Beauty and handsome are good but as far as marriages goes, it doesn't sustain marriages, if it does, then we won't be seeing high divorce rate of elegant beauties and handsomeness in our societies, in the long run what sustains marriages is tolerance, respect and communication which by extension is character. If your spouse doesn't give you joy and happiness in the home, then all the beauty and handsomeness will all be vanity without peace of mind, so inasmuch as beauty is important in a marriage because of attractiveness, what really makes marriages to last is the character of the couples, especially the wife. I'm glad that OP could look beyond facial beauty and find the inner beauty in his wife, which is what matters most in a marriage.
572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to find a best bounty campaign to join ? on: April 03, 2024, 06:54:03 AM
I want to join some bounty campaign to have some extra income....but looking at the bounties section..it is very confusing and I am not able to decide what to join,I don't want to waste time in some scam projects.
If possible can I get list of some good bounty managers with their telegram channel link.

There's no guarantee to earn on your participation on bounty campaigns since there are lots of scam there. Maybe the chances to earn in that option is less since usually either devs will not pay after their campaign ends their token will not be listed on any good exchange. But if you can able to take risk and spend sometime participating on those campaign then I guess just take your best shoot for selecting and try to earn by luck. If you earn with that then fine but if not then its still ok then just find another new one to try your luck again.

But what I can suggest you is to join on airdrop since the hype is there and maybe you can earn more decent profit than spending some time and effort joining on those bounty campaigns.
I've never perticipated in a bounty campaign before, when I joined the forum and wanted to earn in bounties, I was discouraged to do so, just like the OP is being discouraged now, and I think that he should heed the advice, to avoid any chances of being scammed. I also suggest for him to join an airdrop, he can make a choice and join one, there's a more likely hood that he'll earn from airdrops than bounty campaigns. I wish him all the best as he decides on what to do, it's his choice to make.
573  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are there some charges to use Bitcoin ATMs ? on: April 02, 2024, 03:53:14 PM
I've been hearing of Bitcoin ATMs all around the world, but they're not popular because as far as I know many Bitcoin holders don't patronize them, I also heard that their transaction charges are on the high side, also many Bitcoin users will prefer their transactions to be in privacy. I believe that the main reason why Bitcoin ATM is not popular is because of the high transaction fees, but then it's to be expected because the ATM providers will maintain it and pay it's staff from the service charges. I doubt that Bitcoin ATM will be widely used because you can sit comfortable without prying eyes and carry out any Bitcoin transactions with your device.
574  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Na only the government go fit help us to make cost of things come down on: April 02, 2024, 03:01:51 PM
E no de easy for government to regulate di prices of di whole items for market, because dem no know di manufacturers total cost of production or di resellers total cost wey dem take buy di goods, di only thing wey I feel say government fit do to alleviate poverty na to empower manufacturers or subsidize the prices of di goods wey dem de produce before dem go genuinely talk of price regulations. As naira value don de appreciate small, you no go respect prices of goods to just decrease immediately, because some sellers buy wen di price still de high, so na small small as manufacturers begin to de reduce price, gradually resellers go de reduce am too,. If one trader sale for high price, consumers go buy for another trader until di market go settle for new equilibrium price, even dos wey de sale at high price no go get choice but to reduce price. Di work of government na to provide enebling environment for businesses to prosper.
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shitcoin games in exchanges on: April 02, 2024, 02:11:48 PM
As you give the warning to the others, to the others this seems to be an opportunity that they're trying to look as a lottery. That's why many investors are still looking for memecoins or shitcoins because of the gains that they can get. As far as we know about them, this is making them look into the greater gains instead of the long term gains that we're looking for. I am for the long term but I did managed to earn quickly with some of the altcoins before but it didn't happen again.
You'd wonder why gambling is becoming more popular despite the fact that people know that it's a place to lose their money, they'll still bet their money in the hope of winning, so it is with these shitcoins, most investors will know that they're gambling their funds, yet they go ahead to invest, hoping to gain massive ROI. These scam projects keeps getting listed in exchanges because it's profitable to their dev. team and the exchanges, at the detriment of majority of investors who bears the loses. And these scenarios keeps repeating because there's increased demand for their products.
576  Economy / Economics / Re: How to reduce inflation. on: April 02, 2024, 01:14:44 PM
It's true that inorder to increase savings from a fixed income, the person has to spend bellow his income, otherwise there's no other way to be able to save for investment or rainy days. Another way to increase savings is to get a second job or learn a skill that'll add to your income, by that you can have money to invest in a valuable asset like Bitcoin, and save for emergency expenses that can occur without giving notice. The government has it's own part to play by providing basic amenities and making sure that the macro economics of the country is stable, but they won't put food on everybody's table, so people are responsible for their micro economics, to plan their finances to avoid poverty.
577  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Today Marks World Autism Day on: April 02, 2024, 12:34:59 PM
I'm glad that modern research and technological advancements have proven that autism is a disease or condition that people have, because in some communities and societies autistic people are regarded as persons who have spiritual problems. Their loved ones will take them to local healers who will keep trying to heal them and some scammer spiritualists will capitalize on the ignorance of family members and keep scamming them of their hard earned money in the name to cure the victims. Therefore it's important to raise the awareness that this are special people who needs our support and understanding, they are not supposed to be treated like outcasts.
578  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What's your take on all CEX being regulated? on: April 02, 2024, 08:22:07 AM
The drama of CEX never ceases, there's always issues with their CEO or hack related scams, both renowned and reputable exchanges and local exchanges, I guess that is why it's advisable not to leave your coins in any exchange because if it's not your keys it's not your coins. If CEX regulations will protect investors funds then I'm all in for it, because what's the essence of none KYC when you're not sure of the safety of your assets in them. Drastic times calles for drastic measures, so I personally don't worry about KYC and regulations, what I worry about is the safety of my coins and transactions in the CEX.
579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unbacked stable coins are a big danger on: April 02, 2024, 07:55:22 AM
The relevance of stablecoins in the crypto market is because of crypto volatility, so to retain the value of the crypto, a trader can convert it to stablecoins, inorder not to lose during price dip, so they just act on the interim to fill a gap pending when the owner needs to convert back to crypto. It's better to use reputable stablecoins like tetter usdt, that is pegged to 1 US dollar, than other stablecoins that have not gained reputation in the crypto space. However during bull run, it's better to leave your funds in Bitcoin, because there's high probability that it's price will keep increasing, even when you want to convert it to altcoins, you'll be in profit, compared to stablecoins that'll not add any profit for you.
580  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Work or bitcoin; what do you think? on: April 02, 2024, 07:19:18 AM
Bitcoin investment is not for the unemployed, and it's not a get rich quick scheme that gives you money on the short term, to get ROI you need to hodle on the long term, so you need a job to get money to invest in Bitcoin. One of the best ways to accumulate Bitcoin is through DCA method, so without a job there's no way you can be doing the DCA plan, it'll become cumbersome and the investor will stop because of lack of fund. Another reason why you need a source of income as a Bitcoin investor is that that without money to take care of your responsibilities, you might sale your Bitcoin prematurely when it's not profitable, example is during bear run. Your job doesn't disturb your Bitcoin investment, you can monitor the crypto market after working hours.
