Anyone else having issues staying in sync with the FLY blockchain?

FLY Wallet (v1.7.6) is producing 200kB/s up and 800kB/s down network traffic with 21 active peers and my wallet is not catching up.
At what block you stuck? Consider downloading a bootstrap.

@xProphet
Looks like I had a similar mishap to yours.

For everyones info:
I downloaded the bootstrap with only my original wallet.dat.  The bootstrap seems to stop ~38k block and causes an Exception error in wallet, (this may be caused by something in the wallet.dat).  Moving the wallet.dat to another safe place and restarting the wallet and letting it create a new wallet.dat allows the wallet to complete the sync with the blockchain.

After the sync is complete closing the wallet and replacing the empty wallet.dat with the orignal wallet.dat may cause exception error, so starting the wallet with -salvagewallet does seem to get past the error and the wallet is back in the last good state it was before it lost sync with the blockchain.  Unfortuantely minus all the staking you thought you won while you where out of sync.

Debug.log will have something like this:
~~~~~~~~~~
EXCEPTION: St13runtime_error
init_blockindex(): error opening database environment IO error:   (Your %APPDATA% dir - MANIFEST file)
C:\Coins\FlyCoin64bit-qt\FlyCoin-qt.exe in Runaway exception
~~~~~~~~~~

Salvagewallet should do the trick and remove the bogus staking Tx and bring wallet.dat up to date.

Yeah, was hoping to avoid that, but it is going thru the bootstrap.dat now...

I suspect I may have gone on a forked blockchain... there goes my staking for the last couple of days.

Such is life!

Wallet restart or rescan does not seem to make a difference.

Same here, clean quick update.

Kudos to the Dev team.

In the future when we have high stakes 'Staking', would it be prudent to set a block number when the new update take effect to keep the staking rewards fair.  Or is it a large amount of code maintenance to implement?

Ill be honest MM, we were more focused on bringing a quality clean update, and getting it compatible with Cryptopia. Nobody gained an advantage staking with the update.

Vegas

Sorry, not implying anything.  That was not my intentions.

Just mentioning for the future when the value of 1 or 2 days of staking could have an impact on returns.

If I hadn't come here today, you still wouldn't have burned anything.

I'm glad I was able to make a difference and help you burn your first coins.

Good work!

I am just catching up on the latest of this burn development.  I would have put the same pressure on also!

Waiting for the deadline to burn all coins... Hmm, even with the best intentions that sets flags for me.

Do we need to setup a new block explorer?

Would be nice to have some stats on balances and money supply.  I think that is a requirement for most exchanges.

Hey just checking in to see if the Dev thought about the EPIC return after the burn is done lmao Still wishing on a wish for that miracle to happen lmfao I'd fucking love that more than sliced bread Tongue

I have been trying to reach out to the Dev... no success, yet!
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Team FLY : *NEW WALLET* v1.73 The most unique coin ever created in Crypto. on: December 12, 2015, 02:30:46 AM

FYI:
If there is a higher fee structure for receiving on the exchange address, then there is really no point , as it still has a penalty.
Also if you send from the address with the antidumping fee, won't you be charged a 2nd fee by your exchange address when cryptopia receives it.
(Too Much like Double Taxation)

So our ideas only real similiarly , is a separate address type is created, but from there we diverge.
As your separate address still has a penalty where as mine has no penalty , which makes it viable for the reasons I post earlier,
and yours would not.   Wink

Thank you kiklo!!!

You have saved me from soo much typing and explaining.  I agree with your approach and idea.

My problem is I am not respected from the FLY 'Collective' because I read more than I post on this forum...  and therefore no Hero badge by my handle.

I am glad to see someone else understands trading dymanics and general business models.  I was starting worry there was only script kiddies running coins...

BUMP!

I believe this idea has merit and deserves a valid response on if it could be implemented or too far of a code fork.

OK,
New Idea to solve this issue at hand.

On Fly Wallet, There has to be Two different Types of Address for each wallet.

1 Type Address is call the Staking Address
Where you can store coins , but it stakes the coins so you gain your interest,
Whenever you send coins out of this type address , then you are charged the 10% which goes to the superfly.

2nd type address is called Non-Staking Address.
Any coins store here do not stake , so they do not gain interest.
You can send from this address without paying the fee.

Any Exchange would keep all of their coins in the Non-Staking type Addresses, so they would never be charged the 10% fee , and can send out the exact amount purchased.

Users will store their coins in the type 1 staking address to earn interest and if they dump , they are charged the fee.
Users that store their coins in type 2 non-staking address , would not be a problem, as it would be no different for them than buying it on the exchange and letting it sit there. But it would also give fly the ability to purchase items by using this address without the fee.

Additional Options :
You can place a limit on the amount of fly send out per block, if you feel the need.
Also the addresses need a slightly different prefix , so you can tell just by looking if the address is staking or nonstaking.
Example Staking address all start with FS, all non staking start with FN ,
2 separate type address on 1 blockchain,  Wink

 Cool

FYI:
@cryptonit, if you claim this idea was yours first,
I will have to sue you for copyright infringement, Just Kidding, LOL  Cheesy

The only issue I see is this leaves a giant hole for dumpers, so lets say I have 2000 coins, and im staking them in type 1 wallet, and then one day I decide I want to dump them, then I simply move them to my "type 2 address", then  quickly send them to the exchange and dump (no fees). I love looking at new ideas, but it also must be secure. The MAJOR benefit of FLY is it cannot be dumped. Always keeping prices high, and even higher as when more people realize this they will buy because of this security. It also filters out short term traders and dumpers. They wont even look twice at this, and its meant to be this way. Long term investors will LOVE IT!

Vegas

Transfers are traceable.

If it happens in the wallet and hits the blockchain the wallet and everyone else reading the blockchain will be able to trace it.

It is the non-staking tradable feature for exchanges or the single exchange that the coin is trading on.

We all have 2 addresses currently, so we are all doing the transfer now.

It was a really good idea IMHO, and thank you for responding.

Good critiques. Do have some questions about them though. (and don't worry I am not part of 'team fly')

Please, I would like to hear the explanation about this:
https://github.com/CoinProjects/Fly-coin/blob/master/src/main.h#L69 - No testnet guys? Roll Eyes
It is pretty normal for coins not to use a testnet. What is not normal is having 5 forks in one month and 'changing crypto' without a testnet.

I disagree, there a quality altcoins that use the testnet.  It's the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants testing that creates problems from not taking the time to set up testnets.  For myself that is a big minus in my books for not taking the time to set up the test net and using it for testing.

2 important forks happend after presstab left. There is nothing in version.h to block older versions from connecting. This is highly recommended after such dramatic changes.
https://github.com/CoinProjects/Fly-coin/blob/master/src/version.h#L38
https://github.com/CoinProjects/Fly-coin/blob/master/src/version.h#L48
Totally agree with this one. If you aren't blocking old peers it will cause high resource consumption of the valid peers trying to fill continual requests from outdated peers.

[/quote]

The easy fix for this is:

banscore=5 or 10

Would take care of the resource problem, would it not?

Well, my friend, if you search for just another pump and dump coins where people can take advantage of poos unsuspecting noobs to take their money away, you re DEFINITELY in the wrong thread. FLY is all about loyalty, friendship, community and joint projects. If you want to be a part of this community, be prepared to give something and not just receive. If you have no patience for that, I m sure you can easily find tons of pumps and dumps alts to play with.

The rest of us are going to continue building this great coin and community. It s time to bring honesty into crypto and DUMPERS AND SPECULATORS CAN SUCK MY BIG FAT DICK!!

Listen up, Gay boy .
Don't think i don't know ya going to sell fly to pump diamond.
A community that pure source of income relies on taxation, don't think ya are any better than politicians , cause ya not.
Ya still taking advantage of others for ya profit as this system gives ya free transfer to buy & sell.
That why ya need suckers to buy & sell to pay into superfly, so superfly pays ya,
sorry it is pure Greed , even if Vegas is honest about it being a tax.
And before long Vegas will start dropping members from team fly cause they did not meet all of the new requirements, he will create.  Smiley

AG18

I think you are missing the part where the transfer fees apply to withdrawals from ALL MAIN wallets.  The fee exemption is only for the deposits to Main wallet addresses and transfers from PoS address.

Any of the bagholders (over 5000 FLY) do not receive proceeds from the SuperFLY.  So your statements or opinions about profitting from the little guy is misguided.  The transaction fees discourage multiple wallets and pumping and dumping.

The Name Claim keeps the identity of major holders of FLY open to see and track if someone is going against the ideals of the coin as a steady investment, not a day traded pump and dump coin.

Are you planning to launch an online wallet for new comers?

Basically I don't want to run the full node for every alt-coin I want to try.

My 1Tb hard drive is full with blocks from various coins (Bitcoin consuming the maximum part among them Tongue).

So please try to launch an online wallet.

Thanks.

there is something between a webwallet and a full node

and thats a lightweight wallet

means private key stay with u so no need to trust someone else

just the blockchain will be used from a service provider

means no blockchain downloaded onto ur PC

a example is https://electrum.org/#home
and there is a way set up such a thing for altcoins like FLY too

not as a shortterm goal but longterm im pretty sure such or a similar lightweight wallet solution will be avaiable

I am thinking of setting up a light wallet for FLY and a few other coins I have.
I currently have a VM dedicated to wallets and the memory demands keep growing.
I'm thinking of keeping the blockchains on my dedicated linux server (in a datacenter) and using light wallet apps on the VM to keep the private key part private.

Once the forking of FLY is stable I will tinker with the idea a bit more.

if by light wallet you mean one that demands less memory, then i found a way to do that with normal wallets a while back and have put it into a few coins that i manage, along with my new wallets, the key is to not keep the whole block index while being able to access the whole thing

Exactly.  I was thinking of using HASHed checkpoints in the blockchain reduce the memory usage.
A series of HASHes instead of the whole blockchain would use a lot less memory.  And a vervification of the series could always be done at anytime to check the vailidity of the HASHes.

Could someone from the fly team please explain how the fee system has been implemented.

Some clarity about all types of transaction costs and what wallets are exempt from what would be appreciated.

Hi, the tx fees are posted on the OP. I still have to clean it up a bit and finish calculating the percentages. Also in your wallet before you make a transaction the fee is displayed. The wallet "exemption" is for withdrawals only. No member has exemptions for sending funds, not even myself. The only wallet exempt from sending fees is the superfly wallet. If you want to sell your coins, you simply setup "savings" and point your wallet to Crytopia and your stakes will go there. Or you can slowly sell from your main wallet to avoid very high fees. Im still waiting to hear that Crytopia has updated to the latest wallet.

Thank you

Vegas

Question:
i buy 500 flycoins on cryptopia , when i withdraw , what amount will i actually receive?
Also will Crytopia still be charged the sender's penalty, if so won't that be a problem, as you will still have to compensate them, or was their a solution to that issue in the update?

AG18

The answer is YES you will be charged 10% of the transaction, and this will go into the SuperFLY fund.

So, the best advice is DON'T transfer 500 FLY at once!

Go for the 100 FLY 'qualification' first, or, let Vegas know you have 100 FLY sitting in the Xchange to put into your MAIN wallet.   Do a Tweet and you may be able to be added to the exemption list after your first 100 FLY.

Then transfer the remaining FLY into your MAIN wallet that should be exempted from the Anti-Dumping fee.

I have been offline and away since the fork.  So from what I have read on the thread is the FLY that was in Cryptopia this morning is gone?

If I look in my account in Cryptopia my balance is still there and the wallet is in maintenance mode.

Will the balance still be there once the wallet is back online on Cryptopia?
